Don't make me cry you lot

I'm emotional enough, mixing cake baking with remembering...

mixedmamameansbusiness · 01/02/2011 13:44

Happy birthday Nathan and exactly what Filly said. xxx

madmouse · 02/02/2011 10:59

Thanks for all the wishes and the lovely messages. Really touched. We had a good birthday here with friends coming throughout the day ending with his fave lasagne with some lovely friends. He was still playing at 8.30 and didn't get to bed until 9 and it was school again today!

He's taken Thomas cupcakes with him for his friends Smile

mixedmamameansbusiness · 02/02/2011 16:50

Gingeme - have to bail out of Wednesday's meet up I am afraid as my MW just called to say she has made me a consultant appointment (low iron etc) and it is on Wednesday.

Sorry ladies.

simpson · 02/02/2011 17:29

Is meet up next wed???

I have braved it and asked for an appt to see J's teacher at school tomorrow as he still seems to be finding his reading books too easy, but I don't want to come across as pushy iyswim Blush

I am going to take in what he reads at home and show the teacher (again).

Glad Nathan had a lovely day Smile

Have had a testing day with M Sometimes I find her such hard work Blush I feel drained this eve and M has not stopped talking all day which is very hard to be patient with iyswim and the constant questions wear me down Blush She had a hissy fit today over her photos from her birthday party.

I thought it might be a nice tradition to make an album of her party pics (will do the same for J) each year and give it to them a week or so after birthday. Well, M had other ideas and had a total screaming fit as she did not think she was in enough of the photos

Honestly I give up!!! Grin Blush

gingeme · 02/02/2011 19:15

Oh mixedmamma what ashame. Hope you get your iron sorted.
Who else is coming? If it's just Simpson shall we leave it for now?
Edward a bit better today. Still keeping him off nursery for the week though.

Fillybuster · 02/02/2011 19:56

I can't do Wednesday this week - need to visit nurseries in the area to find somewhere for Mia for when I go back to work (denial, denial, denial......) in June....

T is also being a bit testing at the moment (Grin - spot the understatement....), and its frustrating because when she's lovely, she's very lovely, but she is astonishingly bloody minded being a typical 2-3 yr old. At least she will make a marvellous poker player when she grows up - she really isn't scared to raise the stakes and stare me down in an argument GrinWink....sigh...

I'm taking her out for a 'special day with Mummy' tomorrow, so wasn't expecting child-from-hell this afternoon....she's been pretty vile and i was sooooo tempted to cancel the treat, but we've been talking about it for weeks so that would have been a bit hard. Off to the National Gallery to see the tiger and ballerinas (or the Rousseau and Degas, if you're grown up), feed the pigeons in Trafalgar Sq, have pizza somewhere for lunch, then have a little wander around Covent Garden. Ari has drama club at school, so finishes at 5, and my MIL is taking Mia for the day...hopefully we'll be home by 4.30 so I can collect the other dcs and get everyone to bed on time....Hmm

JustKeepSwimming · 02/02/2011 20:12

Sounds adventurous & fun Filly :)

G - glad E is feeling a bit better.

Simps - J is doing so well, T is finally putting letters together to spell out 3 letter words. i know a) boys are generally slower & b) everyone gets there eventually but, i can't imagine him ever getting a book to come home with at this rate!!

H can be testing too - he hits, he bites, he screams. Whenever he's told 'no' and sometimes when nothing at all has happened Hmm
It's wearing and occasionally soul-destroying, esp when out somewhere.

And he gets up ridiculously early, 4.42 today. So i've let him have a 1.5hr nap this afternoon and they've both gone to bed late after a really long bath, so fingers crossed for even a 5-am start tomorrow. I'm off to bed early anyway.
Keep wondering how the heck i'll cope with baby-night-times too!?!

simpson · 03/02/2011 20:28

had meeting with J's teacher today which went really well. I was a bit nervous about it as I don't want to be seen as pushy Hmm

He has been put onto harder reading books and teacher said soon he will be doing yr2 reading as he has covered yr1 stuff and is finding it easy

M been better today although she is still not good at playing by herself and keeps wanting to "show me" stuff

gingeme · 03/02/2011 22:54

Well done J. What a clever boy you have there Simpson x

simpson · 04/02/2011 18:31

sorry to keep ranting about H but he has surpassed himself this time Angry

He rang today (pissed) and spoke to DC then when I asked him about visit in Easter (which took a lot for me to be happy with tbh) he ummed and ahhhed and said he does not think he has got the money Angry

He had a flood in his rented flat a few mths ago and is now trying to put a claim in to say his clothes got damaged (they didn't) so basically if he gets this money (unlikely) he will use to to visit DC.

I was soooo wound up after phone call I ended up smacking DD (which I never do Sad Blush) on the bottom.

JustKeepSwimming · 04/02/2011 19:50

Oh Simps :(

This is the trip when he was going to stay at your Mums?

M will be fine, don't stress about that.

You do so well on your own, i know that kids should see their dad but honestly sometimes....

Well done to J on his reading! Was he good at the start/quick to pick it up? T seems to be snail-like about this whole reading thing & I'm trying to stay patient but would really love him to read asap.

I went as far as tapping H on the face today after he'd whacked me several times hard around my face. I wanted him to feel a tiny bit of what it feels like. He was a bit shocked at the time but not sure it made any difference tbh. Think we just have to stick with it for now, his understanding doesn't really stretch to time out or naughty step.

Oh and DH's turn to get up, he wakes at 6.05 today, grr. I'd been awake on and off since 4 waiting...

Will see what tomorrow brings, would love it to be the end of that horrid early waking phase but we'll see....

simpson · 04/02/2011 20:31

JKS - yes this is that trip....

M was ok, I said sorry Blush and she sat on my lap and watched peppa pig and drank her milk before going to bed.

J was very slow with the reading at the beginning, but when he got it, he has just really flown through the reading levels Smile

gingeme · 05/02/2011 16:56

Hi ladies. Sorry but I've got to cancel the meet up Weds. Dh's Mum has had a fall and had broken her ankle. He's taking it in turns with his sister to visit and help her so he won't be around to do the school run and stuff. Sorry again ! X

JustKeepSwimming · 05/02/2011 17:13

Gingeme - ouch! Hope she's recovering ok.

Simps - that give me hope. T seems happy to read 'Ben 10' & 'Scooby Doo' on the tv, lol!!

I know it's a long way off but we've just got our next GOSH appt through for July 12th, a Tues, at 3pm, so, if anyone thinks they might be around we could maybe. hopefully meet for lunch at Corams Fields, in glorious sunshine Grin Hmm

(we may get another one before that, that's to see the Consultant, and we're waiting on another Development Clinic appt which will probably be first)

Just something to put in your diaries for now :)

mixedmamameansbusiness · 05/02/2011 17:20

Yay, currently DH is off on Tuesdays so that could work for me and Corams Field is local.

gingeme · 05/02/2011 18:27

It will give mil something else to moan about JKS !
Just love Corams Fields so I shall wright it on my calendar right now x

simpson · 05/02/2011 21:35

will pencil in july 12th Smile

Met up with madmouse today and M & Nathan had a great time in the playground on the seesaw.

Lovely to hear his little belly laughs and him saying "seesaw" Grin Grin

madmouse · 06/02/2011 08:12

Yes was lovely to see Simpson and J and M

We managed to get all three kids and car seats on the back seat of my car and went off to McD. Went to the toilet there and left N on simpson's lap - came out and heard him chatter all through the restaurant hearing him explain simpson all the pictures on his changing bag (Thomas) Smile

And yes, M and N on see-saw together both saying seesaw seesaw was most cute!

Fillybuster · 06/02/2011 22:06

Butterfly cake pics finally on profile :)

Now, what's all this about a meetup?

Off to catch up....

Happy birthday JKS :) :) :)

mixedmamameansbusiness · 07/02/2011 10:04

Filly - saw the pics briefly on FB looks amazing. True talent.

simpson · 07/02/2011 11:43

M did a wee in the toilet at playgroup and has come back saying she wants to wear "big girl pants" so we are giving it a go.....

fingers X!!!
