Bramshott · 29/03/2010 14:55

Oh no Oooggs - why does it keep changing? What a pain.

CaptainDippy · 29/03/2010 15:28

Oh oooggs

OP posts:
SPBInDisguise · 29/03/2010 16:25

Happy birthday (really) to Jack and Erin
oh no oooggs Hope they stop messing him around
Thanks for the sunflower sugesstion - have bought some to plant with T anyway, didn't think of that! good idea
T had his first tantrum free haircut

SPBInDisguise · 29/03/2010 16:59

Oh and the person covering my maternity leave has just become a father for the first time Baby was about 5 weeks early so I hope everything's OK

CaptainDippy · 29/03/2010 18:02

Great about haircut and I hope wee bubs is ok. My DD2 was 5 and a bit weeks early and apart from a few temp and feeding issues, she wasn't too bad

OP posts:
SPBInDisguise · 29/03/2010 20:34

That's good to hear Dippy Suppose I am less worried about the important things as he has already told work the weight and name, so can't be anything wrong, but the little things - had she packed her bag? Do they have the right sized clothes? How's the feeding going? All that kind of stuff, especially as they don't have family who live nearby and presumably their family weren't expecting anything quite so soon.
I'd love to go out and get some tiny baby stuff, wash it and drop it off for them but although I'd consider him a friend we're not that friendly iyswim

CaptainDippy · 30/03/2010 09:22

What was the weight? We had hospital bag packed as my waters went early and I had four days "grace" before they induced me. We had NO nappies or clothes to fit DD2 though - she was much smaller than we had anticipated (4lb 6oz!!!!) You should definitely get some teeny baby things to drop by - and chocolate for mum of course What has his/her name anyway (nosey now )

OP posts:
Bramshott · 30/03/2010 09:35

If you are sorting through clothes, Next & M&S newborn are the smallest of the "regular" clothes I think.

What, no birthdays today?!

SPBInDisguise · 30/03/2010 10:00

She was 1oz lighter than that, and the name is the same as SOL's DD1 (but the full version of it)
Well I am going to get some tiny sleepsuits and vests, was planning to wash them first, or is that odd? Obviously that means they can't return them but they're not really a gift, just something that will do until they get more clothes etc.
Apparently she is in special care and being tube fed, but as far as being in SC goes, she is doing really well

Bramshott · 30/03/2010 10:03

I think they will probably be grateful SPB - although if she's in special care, the hospital may well provide clothes (ours did).

SPBInDisguise · 30/03/2010 14:14

well tiny baby clothes bought
Expect feelings of broodiness in the next 10 minutes

ScarletBandit · 30/03/2010 15:07

That is really kind of you SPB, I am sure they will be really touched that you have made the effort of washing the clothes too. Glad the baby is doing ok

Oooggs, that is really crap for your holiday. When will you know for definite? If your dh has annual leave booked do they not have to honour it anyway? Hope you can sort something out xx

Was just thinking about SOL and Elkie's mums, hope they are both doing ok just now xx

I am exhausted. My dc's are back with me now and I have managed three hours sleep. Roll on 5pm when dh gets home and I can go back to my bed!

Doobydoo · 30/03/2010 20:25

Sounds good to me spb I think they will be very pleased...how thoughtful.Congrats on tantrum free haircut
Oooggs what a nightmare
SB...Hope you are in bed!
Also Elkie and SOL thinking of your mums.and you both.
Busy here and a tad nightmareish but just to do with incompetent people[not me!]
M will be 3 on Friday...he says he will be 2 It will be a Fireman Sam fest.DS1 was and still isn't into merchandise so M is different on that score as well as in other ways
Hi to all and Dippy that is little indeed for dd2
xx

oooggs · 30/03/2010 21:28

having a wobble, dts leave nursery tomorrow, well we all do, have been using it for just over five years, first James, then James and dts, then just dts and now as Luke hasn't got a place they are leaving, I'm not going back to work and ohhhhhhhhhh

sorry needed to get that down

elkiedee · 31/03/2010 00:47

First, a belated happy birthday to all the April babies born in March.

elkiedee · 31/03/2010 01:23

What a sweetie SPB, I'm sure they will be very touched, and I also think having babies in special care must be very stressful, it was hard having my two readmitted even though neither had that level of dependency on medical care.

Thanks dooby and others for your thoughts. My mum was released from hospital on Monday, she's doing quite well apparently, still pretty weak from surgery and she had some infections but has fought them off. Post-op tests indicate her prospects look brighter than they were, on the one hand that's encouraging but it makes me wonder what she was told that about her prospects before that I wasn't told then.

Sorry I've not been around much. I've been reading a lot of books, writing some book reviews - mostly for an online friends' site - we get to pick free books wtih the main restriction being how many you can actually read and write about within a couple of weeks of receipt - I've felt spoilt for choice since January - and hanging out a lot on the forums of other bookworms' sites. I guess it's a distraction from worrying about my mum.

There's a big restructure at work - my job's not affected because I think the big boss doesn't want to piss off my boss (I work 1-1 as secretary/reader to a blind lawyer) - the other 7 secretaries have to apply for 5 new jobs. Our team head is taking early retirement and she gave me an easter egg today - I don't know her well but she's been very supportive in 3 years of being our principal (for most of which I was either pregnant or away) and I'm sad to see her go, and quite upset by the restructure. There's apparently another cull to come, too. All a bit grim.

Bramshott · 31/03/2010 10:05

Glad you mum has come through her op okay Elkie.

Oooggs - no wonder you are having a wobble. Hope the DTs last day goes okay. Try to see it as an exciting new chapter - just because you are not working for a few years, does not mean you are trapped at home for evermore! In any case, Luke could go to pre-school in about a year's time couldn't he?!

ScarletBandit · 31/03/2010 23:00

Hope you are ok oooggs, something that has been a big part of your life is always difficult to let go of. F is going to nursery for her last day tomorrow, then she has a couple of weeks off before starting big school

Elkie, glad your mum is good just now and that things are positive

Off to bed for me now as I am up at six to leave for work by seven, night all xxx

Sexonlegs · 01/04/2010 14:25

Hello

Oooggs, hope you are ok xx I remember when B left preschool; I was in bits! Now K is starting there next Tuesday!

SB, hope work is ok.

Elkie, glad things seem positive re your Mum.

Luce, lovely to see you

How is everyone else doing?

All ok here. Not prepared for the Easter hols at all! The girls are going to the inlaws for a couple of nights next week. Dh's mum seems stressed about it though which is stressing me. We had a bit of a row about it last night

My Mum seems to be doing ok. She hasn't lost her hair thank God. She has one more "infusion" as she calls them in 2 weeks time, and then another scan at the beginning of May; after our cruise

Can't wait for that. So stressed at the moment; mostly about mine and dh's party next Saturday, and also about getting K in to the same school as B next year. Mad I know as we have months, but it is really worrying me.

Doobydoo · 01/04/2010 18:12
