Snow, try now

LOL at body still set to southern hemisphere Hope the "morning" sickness goes away soon!

I haven't started packing yet. I guess that says a lot about my excitement, huh?

June, we're going for 10 days, more or less (we can change the dates as many times as we want) everything depends on how things go. Glad to hear food is going better at C's nursery We want to print out some, yes... how one manages to choose one or two is different matter, though It's a silly saying, btw, I guess it means if you get burnt with milk and it hurts badly of course, then every time you see a cow after that you'll remember and therefore cry? We use that saying all the time over there... what would you say in French?

Bigcar, thanks for that "Sue" info I was laughing at what MNtters wrote but I had no idea who she was

Waves!!!

snowwombat · 29/04/2010 21:43

snap gauchita i can see them all! Thankyou. What a stunning looking family!

Should be in bed. Instead watching Gryff in Sydney and trying to convince DH we should live there

chocciedooby · 29/04/2010 22:19

Hi everyone. BLimey I still can't seem to keep u with you loot .

Very tired tonight so only a quick post.

Gorgeous pics Gauchita. What a little sweetie. Have a wonderful trip away

Arh MrsMc - I wish I could pass on some advice to you to help get A sleeping for you. Does your little boy struggle to sleep for long as well? Is A still in yuor room then? I wonder if it would help if you could move her out of your room? Just sticking my two pennys worth in. I bet I am way off the mark.....sorry just haven't been keeping up with the posts.

Congrats Snowwombat. Hope you are feeling ok.

No major news here. Elina is crawling all over the place now and loves getting into all of the boys toys .

I have managed to lose a stone in the last 11 weeks. Still have 10lbs to go. I am doing salsa classes once a week and also have taken up a bit of runing as am doing a ladies mini marathon on June 7th. I think I wll be walking it though as my back is sore every time I go out.

Have to go to bed now. DH has been working late a lot and I have to get my energy levels back up soon as he is away on Monday to Canada on business, returns on Wed. only to go to Nice on Fri for a lads weekend.

Take Care all.

xx

chocciedooby · 29/04/2010 22:20

oooops - sorry about the spelling errors.I am very lazy when it comes to checking my posts before sending. I just don't bother.

MrsMcJnr · 30/04/2010 16:02

Today has all been stop start, haven?t managed to get much done or to co-ordinate naps until now but DS will wake up any minute so thought I?d jump on whilst I got a chance.

Just to clarify, I didn?t mean in my last post that Aaliyah would be walking by tomorrow but she may well be by her birthday on 10th June!

Snowwombat ? how are you feeling? I thought BF had lactose in it too haven?t been concentrating much on that line of thinking recently, just trying to get her into positive sleep associations. I would be happy waiting a couple of years before having another baby and then having 2 close in age together again but DH says we can only have one more and it has to be in the next 18m we?ll see. I love ?this www.armsreach.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=3_8&products_id=41cot? it would look great with our sleigh bed but it is very pricy I am a fan of the bloods tests for other purposes in pregnancy (i.e. other than the double or triple test) they are as you say, very important especially as you so for those of us with funny blood. I have to keep a particular eye on my white cell count. My friend?s baby was born with her intestines on the outside. She knew and was well prepared (or as well as you can be) the scar is tiny now, it?s amazing! Hope the good nights have continued for you. We have had some shockers recently! We seemed to have cracked 8.30/9-12 but then it goes pear shaped. The night before last she was awake from 11.30-5.30 and then slept for an hour so that was all the sleep I got all night, was a total zombie yesterday, paranoid about everything Re AN care in the UK. I remember being virtually ignored by the MW side of things until about 12/13 weeks. Because I was Consultant Led I did have an initial appointment with the hospital and scans because I had some bleeds as well as my bloods checked weekly though. Have a great weekend camping!!

Gauchita ? wow, you leave tomorrow!!! Have a great trip! I love all of your photos Mila is a natural; she should be a child model. In fact on DS?s AN thread there was a Mum whose kids modeled for Next etc. made a lot of cash which she stashed away for them How did you make sure that Mila didn?t fall between the gap of your bed and her cot, wedge it up against a wall or something? Someone suggested getting a cheap Ikea cot (we use one anyway), taking off one side and then making holes for the base at the appropriate height but I am worried that she?ll fall between them. Our bedroom is hard to layout so that she?d be wedged between the wall and the bed as the wall to my side of the bed is all windows and there isn?t a way we could work the room to get my side up against the wall. At the mo I have a bedside table wedged in next to the cot on the other side of me but it isn?t ideal. Hope you got your money back from the eBay woman! Ikea have good babyproofing stuff by the way. Not heard that cow and milk saying before. I guess it?s a bit like ?once bitten, twice shy?? The other day I spilt some milk in a café and a South African friend got all excited because it apparently means to them that a baby is on the way!

Bigcar ? your ILs don?t sound very hands on with the kids! Had to chuckle at your DS1 about eating his dinner with a knife what is the new car? I don?t think DS is ready for the Dummy Fairy just yet. Our park has just re-opened after a whole year it was supposed to be being improved (it was fine before) and was meant to take 3 months. Then the Town Hall went bust and couldn?t pay the contractors and so it has all the same stuff as before now minus the beautiful trees that provided shade that they have chopped down it?s suddenly so hot here that we can?t go to the park after 11.30am as the slide and swings are too hot to use! LOL at things being Sue?s fault.

June ? eBay is fabulous for buying and selling. I read the book ?How to have a baby on eBay? when I was pg with DS and I got some great bargains. Nice way to raise some cash too. Doesn?t work so well for me anymore because of the P&P charges. I keep my Bugaboo and the Maclaren in the spare/Aaliyah?s room (there is a handy alcove) and the double in a big plastic shed thing outside the front door. I have cleaned and washed the covers on all the buggies this week and got them into their Summer garb bye bye cozy toes! DH si hectic at work at the mo and really enjoying that makes life a lot easier your ILs sound such a nuisance sounds like they could do with some hobbies or something to keep them busy! I messed up the invitations for A?s birthday as I put an event on FB and thought it hadn?t gone live and then all these people I didn?t think I?d invite accepted had hoped to have just a few other babies and their folks, not a load of toddlers unless they were older siblings. Think we are going to have a British style tea with cakes and scones etc and some proper drinks for the adults. We?ll start around 3.30 and I have stressed that it ends at 6.30 so I can calm the kids down before bath and bed! I am learning from experience!

Choccie ? thanks for your empathy for me My DS is a great sleeper actually. He had bad colic in the beginning but from 8 weeks he has slept 12 hours a night plus naps. At A?s age he was having 3 naps a day still and now he sleeps for at least 1 ½ - 2 hours in the afternoon plus his quota at night, well most days. He gets really worn out though as he walks a lot these days and plays for hours in the park and on his ride on toys on the terrace. A loves to try and keep up with him though and should be worn out. She can do far more than he could at this age. She adores his cars! A is still in our room. We have been delayed moving her because of the MIL?s visit (now coming 4th May for 12 days) after that I will move her to her own room and hope that that helps. I think DH does wake her up in the night with his moving about and snoring. Only problem is it is opposite DS?s room and he is a light sleeper and she is VERY loud! fabulous weight loss I still have a stone to lose but have lost motivation recently ? must get back on to it especially now we are in shorts here now and can?t hide the flab. Sounds like you are very busy

June2009 · 30/04/2010 17:08

mrsmc When we went to the baby show we had a look at lots of fantastic but really expensive cots before C was born (ended up with a cheap one from Smyths which is perfect.)
I'm a bit gutted we missed the show this year but it probably better that way for my bank account!

Lol @ your facebook blunder :D

It's a shame about your local park. The one down my road is getting run down, there rarely are babies there, only teenagers hanging around at the swings and lots of dogs. I much rather walk 10 minutes to the other bigger park with a big pond, ducks, decent play area with swings, slides, climbing frames and obstacle courses. (not that we use any of that yet!).
At the moment though there is a funfair there with lots of more teenager-y games and it's a bit dodgy past 4:30/5pm.

All right, off to feed C. take care and have a nice long weekend Juners, (is it bank holiday in spain as well?)

OP posts:
MrsMcJnr · 30/04/2010 17:21

Our park was a bit like your local one in Scotland June. Strictly no kids, just teens Tomorrow is a massive holiday here, nothing open at all but then its back to work as usual on Monday so DH doesn't get any time off

Gauchita · 30/04/2010 21:28

¡Hola!

Mrsmc, the weather you're having over there. Here it's been rainy and nippy... Sorry to hear it's still a bit of hit and miss with A's sleep. Same here. Oh, re. the cot, we just took one of the sides off and put it next to our bed, I guess the carpet is what holds them together and doesn't let the cot slide. I hope I get the refund soon, otherwise the whole thing of going through ebay or paypal cases will be a pain. Thanks for the IKEA tip, I'll have a look Oh, the saying in Spanish goes "El que se quema con leche ve una vaca y llora". Maybe they don't use it in Spain and it's just a Latin American thing

Choccie, well done on the weight loss front I see you're keeping yourself busy these days Any chance you can get your DH to learn a bit of salsa so that you can both dance?

June, oh, I wish I had a park nearby where I could just walk from home. The nearest one is about 20 mins by car! Oh well... Hope the ILs are not being a pain these last few days.

Hi to all Juners!

Right, this morning we started packing cue me realising I needed to go out and buy lots of things I have everything now.

We're travelling tomorrow morning to Atlanta, spending a night there and then on Sunday evening we take the flight to BSAS. I don't mind as it means we're not running from flight to flight and get to sleep on a bed

Oh, thanks for your sweet words re. the pictures

Hope you have a lovely bank holiday weekend, ladies! I'll be in touch! Hopefully not ranting too much from over there

Waves!!!

MrsMcJnr · 30/04/2010 21:50

My head is now singing "what's new BSAS" from Evita, Gauchita! hope you have a good trip and the travelling isn't too exhasuting. Vaya con dios!

Good point about the carpet. Everything slips on marble floors.

Will run your saying past my Spanish teacher to see whether it's used here in Spain

MrsMcJnr · 30/04/2010 21:52

It's Mothers' Day here on Sunday. Think that it is being ignored seeing as we celebarted the British one in March.

MrsMcJnr · 01/05/2010 22:47

Am too upset to go to sleep despite being exhausted we have been at a party today, lovely, for a friend's baby's 1st birthday. DH met a lot of new people, had some beers and I had some wines and we all had fun. When we got home and the kids were down he fell asleep on the couch, I woke him to go to bed and he lay across the bed fully clothed so I tried to move him and he hit me in the face, tried to move him again and reason with him quietly as Aaliyah is asleep in there and he kicked me. I told him to get out of the room and he kept saying over and over "say please" well frankly all I said was "F you" and am now back in the lounge waiting for A to wake to remove her too. All because of one selfish man sometimes I really hate him.

Gauchita · 02/05/2010 07:23

Oh mrsmc
I was just logging in from phone to wish you a happy mother's day and then I read this... Mrsmc, I know we're only 'strangers' on the other side of the screen and maybe it's not our place but, sweretie, that is just UNACCEPTABLE.

No no no no no, you can't be treated like that! No matter how many beers or glasses of wine there are in the middle.

hope you managed to get some sleep.

please keep us posted, am thinking of you (((((((hug)))))))

xxx

bigcar · 02/05/2010 13:20

Bloohy hell MrsMcJnr, please say you're not going to let this one pass that is totally unacceptable, drink is no excuse. Thinking of you and sending massive ((((hugs))))

June2009 · 02/05/2010 21:35

God mrsmc that is shocking. has this ever happened before?? Was he just trying to wave you off and hit you accidentally or what?
sending big hugs your way, you must be so upset...(is mil there yet??)

OP posts:
MrsMcJnr · 02/05/2010 22:09

Hey thanks for being there for me, I hope I haven?t worried you all too much. It?s hard to know how much you can say on these threads but I needed to vent somewhere so I hope it wasn?t the wrong place. A woke up about 20 mins after I posted and I took her to the spare room with me. We both had a bad night and at 5.30 I couldn?t take it anymore and took her back to her cot in my bedroom. DH had moved so I could get in. He has apologized but the day has been very fraught as I am very angry with him and have told him a lot of home truths. I need behaviour like that like a hole in the head. MIL arrives on Tues.

June2009 · 03/05/2010 15:06

Hey mrsmc hope today is a better day, what a fucked up thing to happen. I hope dh is on his best behaviour. I honestly don't know what I would do if I was you. I know dh would be grovelling though, I hope you didn't just get a "yeah sorry about that". Take care.

OP posts:
snowwombat · 03/05/2010 15:10

just back from a wet weekend camping. A has a vomiting bug. Everything is covered in spew.

mrsmc . Just read your post. How you doing today? What are you going to do about DH. Not great timing for MIL to arrive. Thinking of you. Vent away all you like.

Girls, I hope everyone is ok. Going to deal with the vomit and catch up with things later. Hope your long weekends going well.

Hi all,

Mrsmc, how are you today? Huge (((((hugs)))) going your way. I also hope you got a rather serious apology. Take care, thinking of you. xxx

Snow, sorry to hear about A's bug. Hope it clears soon. How was the weekend, besides this bug that felt like coming along? Hope that morning sickness is not bothering you too much these days

June, hi there! Hope the ILs are behaving. HOw are you?

Bigcar, hi!

Hi to all Juners!

Right, we're in Atlanta now. Embarking tonight (local time) and in BA tomorrow morning. We didn't fly on Sat as the flight was overbooked so we had to wait until Sun morning. The night in Atlanta was great, M woke up but didn't fuss about much so I had a loooong sleep. She's being a star, not complaining, fortunately

Waves!!!

Gauchita · 03/05/2010 20:16

x post!
Strawberry, hi!

bigcar · 04/05/2010 19:29

MrsMcJnr, how're you doing today? Thinking of you x

MrsMcJnr · 04/05/2010 23:01

Hey girls, things are ok, after a big row in which everything was thrown in the pot we are now being a bit more respectful towards each other.

Gauchita - hope you are safely in BA now

Snow - hope A is much better now.

MIL has arrived and I already feel guilty, she brought the wrong buggy board despite me even texting her the shop code think I'll have to send it back and hold out for the one I want, is that awful??

chocciedooby · 04/05/2010 23:37

Hello everyone.

Mrsmc - WTF!!!!!!????? I hope you don't mind me sticking my nose in here but your DH really does need to treat you with respect. You are the mother of his children! If my DH ever laid a finger on me (booze or no booze) I would be shocked and livid. I am sure it is difficult to deal with but my god you deserve better. I hope he grovels, waits on you and promises to give you the respect you deserve. I really feel that a lot of woman that have young children already have their work cut out and can lead quite isolated lives at times. We don't get annual reviews, we don't get a pay rise, we don't receive much praise (if any) for all of the hard work we do,we work long hours, get up in the night etc etc but by god we should be respected. (ok, I will get off my soap box now). . I hope things are better for you today.

Snow - How is lo?

Gauchita - Well done gettingt to Atlanta. Hope your next flight was as good

Had a strange week here. Been feeling quite down at times. Last week we had news that DH's very good friend's wife (his ex work collegue)gave birth to a baby girl only for her to pass away a few minutes after being born

She had a hole in her heart that was too severe to survive. The parents baptised her so she would go to heaven and then buried her Where do people find the strength???

Then (this seems so silly compared to above) Irelands legend of a DJ Gerry Ryan passed away last Friday. The whole country has been in mourning. It's been quite a shock as everyone feels like they knew him. He was like a minister for everything and was expecially good at advising stay at home mothers. Will be sadly missed

Sorry for going on, just had few things to get off chest.

DH is in Montreal. Due to travel back overnight. Flying to Nice on Friday. Hope this ash cloud doesn't mess things up.....

June2009 · 05/05/2010 20:41

hey choccie so sad about your colleague's baby. Had they picked anything up at the scans at all? It is hard to cheer up sometimes when all is not well around you.

gauchita hope you made it and are enjoying your break!

mrsmc Glad to know you got to get things off your chest with dh, I hope it gets better from now on and you can just put it in the past (can you though?).

We had a nice bank holiday weekend despite the poor weather. There was a May fair close by but it rains every year which makes it less popular than it could be, I think they should just change the fair date and call it something else ;)

I had a game of badmington with a friend of mine and hoping that it'll be a permanent thing (for a while anyway). It got me looking at the gym timetable again and there's a whole bunch of new classes with new names and I have no idea what they are ("zumba"?? "aero" stuff?)

right gotto go, dinnertime

take care juners!!!

OP posts:
Gauchita · 06/05/2010 10:40

Hi all!

June, glad you enjoyed the long weekend. at the gym's new timetable.

Choccie, so sorry to hear about your friends' baby There are no words

Mrsmc, how are things? Please don't feel guilty, there's nothing you can do but send it back as it's not the right one.

Snow, how's A? Hope he's all better now

Bigcar, hi!

Hi to all Juners!

Well we took our flight without a problem on Monday from Atlanta and got here on Tuesday. M was fine until that night when she started having some temperature (DH didn't believe me ) and has had some on and off since then. I'm a bit worried as it doesn't seem to be a cold (I thought I might had given her mine) and she doesn't seem to be in any sort of pain but it's been more than 24hs now I just hate we're away from home and don't even have her red book or her doctor The system is very different here so we'll have to ask one of the family's doctors for help. I think we'll do that if the temperature doesn't go away by noon (it's 6.30 here)

Anyway, things are OK, not relaxed unfortunately DH's aunt has been quite nice and placid but his mum is being a nightmare I'm glad we're staying with his dad and it's far away from the city centre (where she is). I'll need days off after this week

Election day today. I've been following it so much that it's a pity I'm far away right now

Hope you're all well, will keep you posted about M.

Waves!!!
