hi girls,
anyone else watching Grease? We are still a house of vomit. joy. Coupled with the MS that has kicked in this week, feeling pants. DH on call tonight, hoping A has a better night. Waking at 430am this week. What fun!

gauchita so impressed with your MNing from overseas- do you have an iphone? Glad MIL not too close for comfort.
mrsmc how is the MIL visit? Any chance you can leave her and DH to hold the fort and go and do something for yourself? DO I remember correctly that last time they used to get drunk together and not be much use? How are you and DH. Hope you are giving him hell.
As to useless MIL and buggy board, make her take the bloody thing home!
choccie good to hear from you. So at the death of the baby. How awful. Hope your DH got home and you get to nice tom.
june badminton sounds great! GLad the healthy lifestyle changes going well.MY diet fell out the window as all i crave is whilte bread and vegemite (marmite equivalent)
bigcar how is the new car? what did you get? DH keeps looking at 7 seaters.

We have a scan tom morning. If all good, start the injections. Fingers crossed.

night night juners, take care

snowwombat · 07/05/2010 07:32

soooo excited! I got a job last night. Doing some work for the research arm of a big pharmaceutical. Will be irregular, but involve shorts trips to research sites, doing some quality control. Woohoo!
As to the election, hoping a hung parliament will keep everyone on their toes. In Oz, we have this and it works quite well for the parties to moderate their policies and get on with doing something that suits the population.
Right, better get sorted for the scan

bigcar · 07/05/2010 13:43

afternoon all

snow, how exciting, well done on the job front! Hope all was well with the scan. How's the sickness? We got a VW Sharan, it's pretty good actually, I wasn't sure at first as we had a Nissan serena before that was 8 seats and had a tiny bit more space but it's good to drive. If we could have waited we would have got the deisel version, much less on the car tax than the petrol one! It's exactly the same car as the Ford Galaxy (old style) and the Seat alhambra. Oh and it has parking sensors which makes up for the not so good visibility (compared to the serena)!!

gauchita, hope Ms ok now. Sorry to hear about mil, good you've got her at arms length! BBC 1 has been solid election program all day so far, I wouldn't mind but it seems to repeat on a regular basis Did see our local mp on the coverage though.

june, I don't think it matters about the date, being England it could rain at any time Is zumba a danced based thing? It's ringing bells somewhere from the tv shopping crap dh watches sometimes

choccie, so sorry to hear of your friends baby, I can't begin to imagine . . . . .

MrsMcJnr, good to hear things are ok, fingers crossed there will be no repeat ((((hugs)))) Do let us know if we can help on the buggyboard front, I'm sure one of us would happily put something in the post for you.

strawberry, hi

I'm not really sure where this week has gone, don't seem to have done much but haven't had 5 minutes spare. E has taken a few steps now, not confidently walking but a sort of stagger, dd3 is going to have to watch out, he will be after her soon

waves to all

chocciedooby · 07/05/2010 22:07

Hi everyone.

June - I don't know if the hole in the baby's heart was seen before on a scan but I have a feeling it wasn't

Gauchita - So sorry to hear that M is a little unwell. Did you get her checked out? In my experience, my lo's got temperatures quite often and a little bit of calpol or liquid Nurofen worked a treat to get it down. I hope she is better soon

Hey Snow - gosh you are getting MS! Hope you don't get it too bad. It seems so long ago now that I was feeling ike that. Just remember, it does pass

Forgive me for asking, but what are the injections for

DH did make it back from Montreal on Wednesday. His flight was re-directed and landed in Shannon. He then took a 3 hour bus journey to Dublin. Didn't see muchof him though as he flew out to Nice this morning with a large bunch of pals for a golfing and drinking weekend. I just received a text telling me he is drinking e10 beers in St.Tropez and loving it! .

Hiya Bigcar Walking ???!!!! Wow.
Elina is crawling like a mad thing around the house now and has started to occasionally pull herself up on the furniture.

I know exactly what you mean about the week going fast. I also have (many) days where I don't seem to get anything done yet don't have 5 minutes to spare. My bain feels a bit fried at the moment. I have had a busy week with lots of kids ocming around etc and just as I thought I was going to get a relatively quiet afternoon, the neighbours sent their kids around at tea time....things have been working out well recently but why do the kids always want to come into my house????!!!!

June2009 · 08/05/2010 02:57

oooh busy thread...

gauchita sorry to hear about your mil, come here and vent if you can, (works for me ;)) I hope it's not spoiling your trip.
fwiw when C has temperature it also comes and goes, dh said that's what temperature does. Could be anything (was a throat infection last time) so it would be better to get it checked by a GP, have you got calpol or nurofen out there to keep it down?
Is dh doing that thing where he didn't believe you because he may think you're uncomfortable and making up excuses to be somewhere else or visit less family? (dh used to do this the first few times we went to france, (not necessarily intentionally)).

The elections have been interesting to say the least, we're still waiting to know what is going to happen. The elections before the last ones in France ended up in a coalition too and it worked pretty well, I think this is happening a lot at the moment worldwide, the last elections in Germany were pretty much 50/50 too that's probably why the media have been going on about a hung parliament for the past couple of months).

snow hey good luck with the scan, let us know how it went, I remember the excitement (and the worry!) :D What are the injections for? Argh, morning sickness hope it goes away quick! How are you coping, are you getting tired?

mrsmc how is it going now that Mil is here. She could take the board back with her. Why do you feel guilty? It's not your fault at all! I hope you can take the opportunity to catch up on some sleep and have some "me" time. Ask them for it if they don't offer.(or tell them rather: "Right I'm off to the beauty salon, take care of the kids all right"). I know sometimes we feel like we can't leave the baby with anyone else but we have to for our sanity. My best friend pretty much told me off for not having been to the hairdresser for over a year, she has no children so I was quite dismissve ("what does she know" type of attitude but lo and behold I did book it and it made me feel much better, ditto waxing at the salon! It'll be nails and toes next!).

When is venetian coming back?

choccie oh I hope the old problem with the neighbours is not creeping back! When is dh back from St Tropez? They'll have fantastic weather out there.my brain is also fried, I think this is quite common post pregnancy. I had a weird convo with a (new mum)friend today where she was asking what I had been up to the past two weeks and if we had plans this weekend and I could not remember, I didn't feel too bad as she could not remember either .

bigcar Walking wow. I tend to think that if the baby has older siblings they tend to develop faster but I could be mistaken, one of my friend's son is free standing for a whole minute (so cute! "look at me just standing here") and walking along tables and sofas iyswim, what do you think?
congrats on the new car, we're looking at a bigger vw at the moment, thinking about number 2...
but I'm awake right now because the memory of giving birth is keeping me up. I had a bit of a anxiety attack about it. I shook it off quickly but now can't get back to sleep (oh well, good thread catch up!).

I now have all the documents ready to get my records though so should be able to request it next week, finally! Are you over with the nurse appointments & getting all your notes sorted?

Well next week's badmingon is compromised as dh has to work. I think it's time I did a bit more than just look at the gym timetable ;)

I'm not getting any time to myself either at the moment, I had to schedule some time with dh tomorrow for him to look after the baby so I can wash my hair :S It's such a basic thing I despair... do you guys have to do that as well or are your dh's more hands on with the baby?
And Dh is not even too bad, he (kinda) knows what to do with C and does look after her from time to time, I just feel like he doesn't do it enough because everytime he does it's usually because I have something urgent to do for work (or housework).

One of my friend's dh still has not changed a nappy (?!), she never gets a lie-in either (her ils do take her son for a couple of hours at a time though.)
dh says every friday that he will get up at 6:30 at the weekend so I can have a lie-in but when it comes to it he can't hack it and I have to take over. He is so useless in the morning, he just cannot function .

I had a bath with C today and it was loads of fun :D
Did I tell you she signs loads now, for milk, duck, bath, eat/food, bird and "finished" when she's finished eating (though you don't need the sign for this one as she usually flings the food over her tray anyway!) It's really nice to be communicating like that :D I'm trying to teach her loads more but it takes a long time before she assimilates them.

I'd better get back to bed now. Reading used to help my insomnia but I have nothing new at the moment. I keep re-reading Bill Bryson's "short story of nearly everything"
Is anyone reading anything good at the moment? (I know, haha, reading a book...who gets the time right? thing of the past :D)

Take care juners and have a good weekend!

chocciedooby · 08/05/2010 23:27

Hiya June. Hope you are having a nice weekend.

DH has texted me from Nice this evening to inform me that his flight has been cancelled due to volcanic ash cloud I am so sick of this now. He has to be back in work on MOnday and my kids are missing him terribly as they have hardly spent any time with him in the last 3 weeks. Their behaviour is also deteriorating....I really think boys need their dads iykwim.

Yes I do think the old neighbour problem is creeping back in. I really don't mind kids coming around to play (sometimes its easier all round) but just not at bloody tea time. They all seem to eat around here a lot later than we do. My kids have tea/dinner at 5.30/6pm. Everyone else seem to be at 7pm so they are all at loose ends. Anyway, I will keep my wits about me. My good neighbour/pal is away this weekend and her sister is minding her los. Her sister came around at 5pm yesterday (Neighbour had not yet gone away but was packing indoors)and dropped in their 5 year old. She is a good kid etc but I really feel awkward saying no when the child is standing on the doorstep. So I made sure I was out and about with my kids today and when we returned at 5pmish I closed all the doors at the front of the house and felt like we were hiding in the back . Our gardens are so tight knit here that once the kids hear others they all want to be together. It's a pain in the a** at times.

Anyway, sorry for boring you with that.....

I hear you June. I find it difficult at times to get stuff done for myself. If I want to shower every day I have to be up at 6am otherwise I shower after school run but now Elina is taking her nap later in the morning so its a bit more difficult. She hates being left in her cot when not sleeping and I find it hard to relax when she is in anything else when i'm showering. Oh the joys.....I wouldn't change it for anything though.

Have to go to bed now. I am shattered....

Gauchita · 09/05/2010 02:50

Hi all

Choccie, oh no! Neighbours are being a pain again! It's awful to feel you have to be hiding in your own home in order to have some peace from others Oh dear, they said the bloody new cloud would be gone by the weekend! Hope your DH makes it home soon. We are flying back on Wed, really hope it's gone for good.

June, yeah, I second that. Sometimes time is just against us, isn't it? I always want to do a million things every day and then something always happens and I end up doing a third of them How is the ILs' issue? Hope they're giving you some air. Glad to hear you're ready now for the birth-notes process, hope you don't have to struggle with too much red tape any more. Oh, I think DHs are mostly the same They're men after all DH helps but it always seems you have to mention things, otherwise they're oblivious to them I'm shocked at your friend's DH not having changed even one nappy!!!

Bigcar, nice car! Well done E with the steps! M's still holding herself and cruising around. Not too long for E's bday now!!! How exciting!!!

Snow, hope all the tests went well, thinking of you. And also hope morning sickness is not bothering too much Is A all better now? Congratulations on the job!!! Well done you!

Hi to all Juners!

Well, after 3 and a half days of on and off temperature and a negative test for a urine infection (we had a nappy episode in Atlanta so I thought she might have caught one) M simply had to wear the virus off... Today she woke with no temperature, fortunately and had her first servings of porridge since Wednesday.

We had a "welcome to the Catholic faith" ceremony today for her. We had Christened her in the UK but under the COE so we had a mini ceremony here to include her into our faith It also gave us the chance to see lots of people we hadn't seen these days Too little time to see too many people

Unfortunately things are not being easy here. MIL is being an awful PITA, she's suffocating, she haunts us wherever we are and at any time. It's just soo stressing, girls, I cannot explain. I feel so much anger sometimes There are moments I end up hating ever coming on this trip Anyway, not too long now so...

Hope you're having a lovely weekend, ladies!

Waves!!!

chocciedooby · 09/05/2010 20:46

Hiya Gauchita

Oh you poor thing. I really feel ofr you having to deal with that horrible situation with you MIL. She sounds like a nightmare. Such a shame that she spoils things for you. Why are some people so bloody interfering? aaaaaarrrrrhhhhhhhh!!!!!

Your ceremony sounds lovely. Well done for doing that.

Pleased to hear that M is over the fever. It's horrible when our lo's are unwell.

DH is just about to walk in the door. He had to take a flight from Nice to Heathrow (£300)!!!, then book another flight to Dublin for ?????. The weekend has ended up costing us a fortune so I am not best pleased about that.

Glad to have him gome though. 13 of them set out on the trip back this morning and only 3 made it....

Have to go put dhs dinner on now.

June2009 · 09/05/2010 21:08

ooh gauchita What does she do/say? Can you ignore her at all or is the situation beyond that? I find that when there is history everything becomes a lot harder. Please don't let it go round and round in your head, you know you are a good person and she's unreasonable, sometimes you are forced to accept that some people are c*s (sorry can't think of a more appropriate word) and there is nothing you can do. Or could you just come out and tell her what you think of her on your last day? I really felt like that when the situation with the cousin came up a couple of months ago but I just let it go in the end and now I couldn't care less. (I realise you can't exactly do that with your mil unfortunately). sometimes the situation also becomes too overcomplicated to explain or go over doesn't it.
It'll be over soon and you'll be back home far away from her.

Well, my mil turned up unnannounced at the beginning of the week and was turned away by dh because we were in the middle of our nightime routine. She scheduled a visit the next day and that was fine. Sil also came over one afternoon.
Once a week is ok, it's when they start coming more than once, unnanounced and make comments I wish they kept to themselves that I start to loose it.

After saying that C sleeps on her side she now sleeps on her belly, legs tucked in underneath and bum high up in the air, soo cute .

Right, I would catch up some more but I really want to see the end of "Avatar", it's taken me 3 sittings so far to watch it and i think dh mentionned making tea half an hour ago!

OP posts:
snowwombat · 09/05/2010 21:56

Evening girls,
gauchita I hope you ok and DH helping with MIL issues. Can you ignore her calls? Get DH to 'just say no'? The ceremony for M sounds lovely. We have A's christening in August.

june good on your for standing strong with the ILs. A has also been doing a bit of bum in the air sleeping - sooo cute

choccie glad DH got home. What a pain with the neighbours. Sometimes you just have to say' no this isn't a good time' and make sure they don;t continue to take the piss. I don"t know if it would work for you but i put A in the bathroom with me and give him toys to play with

bigcar e is walking!!! wow!!how exciting

mrsmc how is the visit going?

saw the hearbeat on the scan and started the injections to prevent clotting
very very excited
night night girls

chocciedooby · 09/05/2010 22:20

AAArrrhhhh Snow thats lovely. Hope you are tucked up in bed now getting some rest

I have said NO a few times this weekend but they still come back later in the day and try again. It's unbelievable really how thick skinned some people can be. I can't stand puchy people tbh and the more they push the more I tend to want to say NO more .

Can't put E in the bathroom with me as our shower is in ensuite and it's tiny in there. I reckon we will eventually have to get a proper power shower in our main bathroom but we will make do for now.

E has not slept with er bum in the air yet. I remember my boys doig it. It is sooooo cute.

Well I am off to bed now. Need to get some good rest to energise me for the week ahead xx

Gauchita · 09/05/2010 22:34

me me me alert!

I'm shaking girls, everything has exploded here. People are attacking us because tonight we didn't want to go to MIL house (when we hadn't been invited in the first place, they said they were getting together anyway and if we wanted or could go then OK).

I can't stop shaking, this is awful girls. This is horrible I can't even cry because they 're all here just attacking.

snowwombat · 09/05/2010 22:42

gauchita you poor girl. Sending you a huge hug. Can DH sort it with his bloody family. Isn't M allowed to have a quiet night and you don't need to see MIL every day do you?
I am so sorry they think it is their place to attack you. Fuck 'em and you guys do what you choose to.

June2009 · 10/05/2010 08:55

gauchita So sad for you that it's not working out out there. Do you know why they are behaving like this? Please don't let it get to you, you owe them nothing.
When are you coming back? How frustrating or you.

snow awww that really brings up lovely memories, look what you've done, I'm all broody now

choccie I can't beleive the nerve!! That your neighbous would come back asking again after you've said NO. I know how it feels to pretend that you're not in, very unfair that we have to do this.

plenty of work to do so better be going,
take care!

OP posts:
bigcar · 10/05/2010 14:33

afternoon all

june, I think you're probably right. I think when los have older ones to chase after they may do things slightly earlier. On the other hand they may just sit there as they have older ones to run around for them, so why bother Yes, I had my last appointment with the midwife a couple of weeks ago and finally got a complete set of notes through as well. So, I am sleeping much better now, it worked for me and really hope it will for you. Good on C with her signing, that's wonderful I love reading but haven't the time, I think you need a decent stretch of time to sit down with a good book without interuption and that just doesn't happen here!

choccie, sorry to hear the neighbours are back to their old tricks again, maybe it's time to have another word. Either that or take the batteries out of the doorbell and ignore . at the cost for dh to get home, heathrow is grotty, couldn't have been much fun either. The dcs must have been over the moon to have him back.

snow, that is wonderful news ah yes, bringing back many memories. How's the sickness these days? When do you start the new job?

gauchita, ((((hugs)))) sorry to hear it's not going well soon you will be home, 2 more days and you can leave mil and her nastiness behind. Your ceremony for M sounds good and good news that she is feeling better too, it's always such a worry when you're away from home.

I'm not entirely sure I'd class E as walking just a few staggering steps so far, he's climbing on everything, all the things I used to put in his way just get flung or climbed over, the boy has no fear

Hi all!

Strawberry, so cute L quacking when she wants her ducks! Sorry to hear things are not being easy these days ((((hug)))) I hope you get all the support you need and that you can feel better soon.

Bigcar, another climber here, they have no fear at this age, do they? Glad to hear all the appts with the MW helped you and that you feel better about E's birth now How are E's ears?

Snow, awwwww so cute! Hope morning sickness is not making you feel too bad these days.

Choccie, OMG at the cost to have DH home! I've had it with the ash thing by now I'm flying tomorrow night no matter what Hope the boys have had a good time with their dad and that the neighbours are keeping their distance

June, so glad to hear DH took some good measures and that made your MIL book a visit The last book I read was about two months ago, there's nothing I've fancied lately, but maybe that's because I haven't been looking for anything in particular So cute C signing for things!!! I'm still doing them with M but she just looks at me and smiles Unfortunately no, there's nothing you can actually do to stop this woman... she's just "not well" in my opinion. She haunts people, she suffocates them and when people ask for space she uses emotional blackmail to get to them, it's just awful. DH helps but he's not consistent, or as much as he should because as soon as she sees a small glitch she just gets right in there and tortures us.

Hi to all Juners!

Sorry for that sad post yesterday ladies. My English was just awful, besides! Thank you for your kind words and all the support you sent me through here.

Anyway, I got to my limit yesterday, once again, and DH has agreed with me, has understood everything I explained to him (there are things he just doesn't see so you have to "interpret" them for him, men!) so we'll see. Today was crazy because we had a ton of things to do but at least he didn't let her torture us.

I don't think this will ever end, girls, and it's just so so so sad. She cannot even be ignored, we've tried that, she always finds a way to get to you, it's just insane.

Anyway, we're flying to Atl tomorrow night and then on Wed to Man, so hopefully we'll be home Thursday morning!!! I can't wait to be home, you have no idea, ladies. I crave it like nothing else now.

Hope you have a good night.

Waves!!!

gauchita glad you're flying home tomorrow. It's a shame that you had to go through all that emotional rollercoaster.

Just a quick "hello" from whenskiesaregrey who has moved home and not got the internet yet.

gotta go for now as c is not settling

afternoon all

strawberry, sorry to hear things have been tough for you but do come and offload here if you need to ((((hugs)))) I love that photo of L with her yogurt, it's great! Yes, E also tries to fling himself off things on a regular basis and he's always so pleased with himself when he does He likes his ride on car thing at the moment, can get on easily but off is something else! At least the floor isn't too far away.

gauchita, funny you should ask about Es ears, we are going to audiology again tomorrow! He's still chesty so I wouldn't be surprised if he still has glue ear but I'm also hoping he will be clear, we shall see One more day and you can put a few thousand miles between you and mil ((((hugs)))) At least if you get caught by the ash cloud you will be in Atlanta rather than there before you get stranded but it seems to be over Spain and Portugal today so you should be fine.

june, how are things going so far this week, well done to your dh for putting his foot down with mil. How's nursery going for C now, all settled again? Thanks for passing the message on from skies

skies, when you do get reconnected, congratulations on the move, hope you're all sorted quickly

Heya!

worried told me to make sure that say she said hi and that she misses us all. I tried to give a round up of all our news, probably missed tons of stuff :S

gauchita are you on your way back now? (or are there any volcanic ash residues still?)

sam sorry to hear you've been signed off for PND Are you taking anything for it? I remember when this pill was making me depressed, luckily it stopped when I changed it. Hope things improve for you soon!

bigcar my friend's little boy took some steps today as well, so cute and yet so "grown-up" at the same time. My little C just wants to walk at the moment. I still have to hold her hands even though she always tries to make a run for it! she loves her walker (the one you kinda sit on, not the one you push)

snow did you see these baby baths, I've not tried them but they look good for camping out.
How's your morning sickness?

I really want to take C to have a haircut (she needs one!!) in a salon that has the cute little seats that look like a plane, does anyone know where they do this (in London)?
When we went to Falmouth in Cornwall we walked past one and the kids look well happy but so far in London: nothing!
We went to see one at the weekend and I'm glad we checked it out before booking as they didn't have the seats and it was pretty boring. Still looking...might try and call "Trotters" in London's Kings Road but I reckon this would be expensive.
Failing that I think I might do it myself and make up a certificate myself .

All right well babe is sleeping and I'm off to catch the rest of the junior apprentice.

Take care juners!

Hi guys!

june has been bugging me to say hi, so here I am!

Can't believe we are at 1st Birthdays already!

Adam is doing great, 24 pounds, about 27" tall!! Not on the move yet. Seems more determined to stand than to crawl. Whatever floats his boat!

The Lump is still on his side. It was suppose to come off this past Monday but his surgeon's daughter was ill and the surgeon covering wasn't comfortable doing the procedure. So now we are waiting for a new date.

I'll try to be around more!

Some give me a recap, yeah? So I don't have to read 130 posts....[lazy emoticon]

MrsMcJnr · 14/05/2010 17:02

Hey sorry I have been AWOL MIL was here until this afternoon and I felt like I was constantly on the go. I didn?t get a thing on my list done I felt like I was constantly making her cups of tea and coffee which is unfair as she did help a lot with the kids but I still never got any time to myself as there was no way she could cope with them both. Got a lovely morning with DS alone though and we really enjoyed it. DD did not though, she was furious at being left with Grandma Also started potty training DS, he is doing so well I am so proud of him!

How are you all? Will try to catch up!

Gauchita · 14/05/2010 17:46

Hi all!

Mrsmc, oh dear, it sounds like she was not much help, was she? Hope things with DH are better and that you get some time for yourself soon ((hug))

June, well done C! That picture was just too cute!!! M's hair is getting crazy as well, and with all the curls it's even worse There must be one of those hair places in London, no idea, though. Hope ILs are behaving these days.

Tee, hi! Nice to hear from you again. Glad to hear A is thriving Hope A gets a new surgery date soon, keep us posted.

Bigcar, hope E's audiology appointment went well

Skies, congrats on the move! Hope you're back online soon

Snow, hi! How're you feeling?

Hi to all Juners!!

Sorry I've been offline for some days. We left BA on Tuesday and were stranded in Atl for 3 days!!! We decided to change the route and are now in NY We stayed in hotels so we were able to rest but the uncertainty of travelling has taken a toll on me and yesterday I had temperature and now I have a stomach issue (IYKWIM) Hopefully we'll take a plane to Man this evening and will be home tomorrow morning. Otherwise we'll stay at a friend's here and try again Cross your fingers for us, Juners!!!

M's being a star through all this, sleeps, eats and plays (with the odd fit of anger, of course but I can't blame her )
