Morning everyone Grin

Strawberry C went from eating everything in sight to not touching a thing about 1 month ago, and I thought it was a tooth coming through at the front. However, I have since noticed 3 molars have come through at the back of his mouth, so it must have been them. I feel a bit guilty for not considering it; for some reason I thought they didnt get molars til 18-24 months. But that could be the reason why L if off her food? I found the only thing C did like was finger food (probably helped his gums), so I gave him bits a pieces for his dinner, like cucumber, carrot, cheese, breadsticks, toast, sandwiches, pizza... I also worked out that if I put the bowl of food on his tray and give him a spoon too, he is distracted enough by trying to feed himself that I can usually sneak in his food without him realising Wink HTH.

Bigcar good luck for 4 weeks, at least DD3 is enjoying school? And thankfully the 1:1 is better? When you say she doesn't get much out of school, do you mean academically, or socially? Lets hope something productive comes out of the review. :)

Gauchita and June, how good is that that you go to meet up! Such a shame we didnt all get to meet you and C, June :( Is C better now? Gauchita, DH tells me that your DH taught C to say 'rabbit' Grin He hasn't said it since though! Wink I think DH was rather relieved there were other DHs to talk to! Congratulations on the drive back Grin

Snowwombat I totally understand how you feel about leaving A for 5 nights, when we left C with my mum for our honeymoon, I missed him more than I could have imagined :( The time will soon pass though and you will see him soon x

Hope everyone else is doing good Grin Me and C are off to soft play today. I have to drop him off at work with DH for half an hour this afternoon too, as I have physio on my ankle. Its such a waste of time, I really can't be bothered going Hmm DH and I were up 'til half 12 last night making thank you cards, he really does hate doing things like that bless him! I love crafty things, so loved it Grin. Tonight is writing them though- not so enjoyable, but gotta be done! Hope you all have a nice day x

Ineedmorechocolatenow · 13/09/2010 13:22

Hello all!

Had a lovely morning at soft play with the kidlets and then dropped DS at pre-school, put DD up for her nap and am now sat here procrastinating.... as usual Wink I know I should clean the kitchen floor, but I really can't be bothered...

Bigcar - Good luck with DD3's review. I hope it goes okay and you manage to fight your corner. Glad she gets on with her 1:1 better. It can make all te difference.

Gauchita - Glad you got to meet up with June again! We'll have to arrange another one so that some of the others can try and make it too. I'm not surprised that DD crashed out on the way home! I've never seen a little one with so much energy!

snow - Oh it must be such a wrench having to leave DS for 5 days. It's lovely that he has a close bond with his GPs though, but you must still really miss him. I hope the time flies for you.

Allsheeparewhite - Unfortunately not! She woke up just as we got to the car, and then I was twisting round in my seat all the way back trying to stop her diva strops!

whenskiesaregrey - Glad you got your thank you cards made, good luck with writing them. It'll feel so good when it's all finished! Forgot to ask, is it nice to type 'DH' now?!

Anyway, the kitchen floor is calling Sad so must go. Love to all xx

Gauchita · 13/09/2010 14:44

I've uploaded some pictures, just a few.

They're only visible among us, don't worry Wink Did anyone else take pics that day?

Waves

June2009 · 14/09/2010 18:24

thanks gauchita for the pics, it looks like a nice set up you got ther :D really wish we could have been there.
well it's been drama after drama here after the vomitting we had a bit of a scare where we thought C had diarrhea (false alert) and then this morning she only went and fell over, hit the leg of a chair and cut her forehead open. Cue 2 and 1/2 hours at A&E where thankfully they eventually glued it back together.(ie no stitches)
quite stressfull as she vomitted as well there so been quite worried about banging head/bleeding AND vomitting but she is fine!

got to go for now, catch up later!

OP posts:
Ineedmorechocolatenow · 14/09/2010 20:48

Oh June, you poor thing Sad and poor little C Sad Sad Sad It's so worrying when they injure themselves. Hope she makes a full recovery and that she's back on for soon.

Great pics Gauchita

DS was horribly clingy when I went to leave him at pre-school today. He hung on round my neck screaming and they had to pull him off while I ran out crying. Blush Sad . He was up at 4am having had a nightmare and then DD was up at 4.30am. DH took her downstairs at 5.20am so we're both shattered. He's at Presentation Evening this evening and doesn't get back 'til gone 9....

Anyway, hope you're all well xx

June2009 · 14/09/2010 23:03

Aaarrgh I can't stop thinking about what happened today, C's little face and the bleeding cut :( I feel so guilty yet I know there was nothing that could have been prevented, she just fell over like she has done many times.

I'm quite shocked at how useless I felt and lucky there were other people with me.
In that type of situation if it had happened to someone else I know I would have been the calm one handing out all the right things and calling the ambulance out however because it happened to me all I could think of what "shit, my baby is bleeding, she has a head injury, shit, I need to take her to a doctor, shit shit shit" Shock.
So much so I booked myself a "baby" first aid class tonight.

oohh, ineed It's heartbreaking isn't it. Have you talked to the teacher, is he fine after you have left etc? I'm dreading this bit, I remember making a big fuss about going to school, iirc I actually had belly aches I was so anxious (for no reason, I was not bullied or anything like that). It quickly gets easier, lots of {{hugs}} for you, hope tomorrow is better.

OP posts:
whenskiesaregrey · 15/09/2010 09:36

Morning everyone!

June Poor C, and poor you. She's in the wars at the moment isn't she! Try not to think about it too much. And as for the not knowing what to do- if, heaven forbid, anything like that did happen again, you will definetly know what to do from experience! Don't be so hard on yourself. Baby first aid sounds good, how come you got to do it at such short notice? I'm sure it will be very informative, lots of things like baby recuss which I'm sure you will never need to know, but great to have in your locker!

Ineed Poor A :( that is a very long day for him, 9pm for pre-school? Did A and E (lol, A&E Wink... never mind...) sleep better last night? Did you?!

Gauchita love the pics! Shame they arn't a teeny bit bigger, did you take them on your phone? I took a couple, but only right at the start and then the battery died :( I wanted to take a picture of C playing in the leaves but camera turned off :( I wanted to get a group shot too of us with our LOs.

Well, Ineed has got me looking at PGCEs after talking about schools and teaching on Saturday, and my dead end job I'm in at the mo. I haven't heard anything back from any of the Research Assistant jobs I have applied for, so looking for a different route...

C has started throwing proper little tantrums... I thought this wasn't meant to happen until 2? Wink If you say 'No' he throws himself on the floor, and cries. When we went to Church on Sunday, he threw his book at the lady in front of us, so DH said a firm 'NO' and he screamed and cried. It sounds like we have really whacked him the way he reacts! He has started throwing things at people, and throwing his toys at the dog, so I have to tell him 'no', but he has a little paddy, I ignore him, and then he just does it again. Any tips?

I'm in work at the moment, on a little skive Wink. Have a nice day!

Hi all!

Strawberry, I don't follow a recipe Grin but basically I put about three soup spoonfuls of lentils (the ones you don't have to soak beforehand), double the amount of water, two spoonfuls of cream, half a spoonful of butter and a tiny bit of baby Boots vegetable stock cube, to give it a bit of flavour Grin I let that cook on medium heat for 15 mins (if you see you're running out of water, just add a bit more water or milk if you want) and then I pass it through the hand blender, serve it with grated cheese on top and voilà! Creamy lentil soup for one! Grin Hope this helps. Sorry to hear L is having a hard time with teething, good idea checking with the HV considering the temperature.

June, poor C. As I said in my text, don't feel guilty, there's nothing you could have done to prevent it, it happened in one second ((hug)) Glad to hear she's fine, let us know how the course went. I'm going to find out if we have any of those near.

Ineed, hope A had a better day yesterday and drop-off was a bit easier for you all. It's heartbreaking to see them cry when we leave but then they have such a good time!

Skies, Grin at DH teaching C to say rabbit in Spanish. Don't be surprised if one day he goes "CO-NE-JO!" Grin I took the pictures with my phone, yes, but MN only lets you upload them looking like that, tiny! I can email you some if you wish, let me know.

Bigcar, hi! Smile

Snow, hope you're having a nice week.

Allsheep, hi! Smile

Right, we had a lovely time yesterday with some new friends we've made Smile They're Argies as well and have a DD a few months older than M so they have a good time together. They played all afternoon, which was great.

After 7 weeks of re-scheduling due to colds, bugs, etc, today M is getting her MMR. Not looking forward to the discomforts post jab Sad She has nursery today as well... we'll see how she goes.

Hope you all have a nice day!

thanks for your support, I got really stressed, C seems to be on the mend now. I gave her calpol last night as she was so restless and she keeps pulling on her butterfly strips .

hey sam I'd probably have a look at the mall (next, moonsoon etc).
You could rent one from a wedding dress shop by the way, do you have a colour theme?

ineed how has pre-school been this week?

C has found the on-off button of the computer, I am in trouble now ;)

sorry it's all been very much me posts lately and not got much time to catch up this weekend as we have some friends coming over.

take care juners, {{waves}} to all.

morning all Smile

whenskies, dd3 doesn't get anything much either way! Socially, she is a social little girl but is non verbal so other dcs loose interest very quickly, was fine in nursery but now they're a little older it's becoming more of an issue. Academically, not much there either, because she is deaf and visually impaired with learning difficulties there is just not the specialised teaching she needs in mainstream, they are just guessing really with what to do. I had my camera in my bag on saturday, fully charged and um sort of forgot Blush E does the mini tantrum thing too, tis really hard not to laugh sometimes, the flinging himself on the floor is so over dramatic Grin You are already doing the accepted approach, a firm but not shouty NO (definitely no laughing!) and ignore (unless safety at risk obviously)and of course the usual mantra, this is just a phase, this too will pass Smile

ineed, hope your week has improved, poor ds, has he had a better end to the week?

gauchita, lovely pics, would love an email copy of them, ineed has my email address if she doesn't mind forwarding it for me please Smile I intended to take some photos, had my camera and everything, then forgot, argh! Hope M was ok after her jabs.

june, what a horrible week you've had Sadit's the worst feeling seeing you dc hurt ((((hugs)))) how's Cs head now? Have a good weekend with your friends and a few glasses of wine, think you deserve it after this week!

strawberry, avoid next, ime round here that's where everyone goes! So, anywhere other than next really for party dresses Grin M&S sometimes have some nice dresses, often worth looking online as they don't always carry the full range in all stores, same goes for other shops like John Lewis, debenhams etc. How's L doing, did the hv have any ideas?

well we are gearing up for dd1s leaving for uni in the morning, she still hasn't packed everything! She'll be over the moon Hmm I stocked up in asda yesterday as they have a special event on their cleaning stuff, so bathroom cleaner, blocks for the toilet and cleaner, large pot of washing powder and conditioner, rubber gloves, washing up liquid, etc oh the fun Grin Meanwhile she's worried about the photos she ordered of all the dcs not arriving Hmm She's been on work placement in a primary school all week and has hopefully got all the work done she needed to. She's grown to such a confident, mature young lady she should be fine at uni Smile

whenskiesaregrey · 20/09/2010 09:41

Good morning everyone!

Strawberry have you tried Pumpkin Patch? They have one on Cheshire Oaks near us. I got C a pair of board shorts Grin from there in the sale. He wears them when we go swimming, they are so cute! I dont really know other than that, I get most of Cs stuff from Next, but generally there isn't half as much choice for boys as their is for girls Hmm

Gauchita How was M after her MMR? How good is it that you have found some friends from Argentina! Where did you meet? That must be nice for you all!

June how's C now? What was the first aid course like?

Bigcar DD1 must be so excited! So is she living away from home? I thought she was going to commute? I would love to go back to first year! DB has been away for 1 week and loving it by the sounds of it! It was Freshers Week last week so he was out 'til 4am each night, boo Grin

C has decided he doesn't want to eat sandwiches anymore Hmm which makes dinner on the go a bit more difficult for the time being, until he decides he likes them again!
We have been encouraging him to get around on his feet more and more recently. I dont know whether to get him a proper pair of shoes now, or wait until he is actually walking? What do people think? I want him to be able to feel his feet on the floor properly, but now its getting wet, his soft shoes are no good if he is standing up while we are out.

Thread has gone a bit quiet since the meet-up? I hope people who didn't meet don't feel a bit excluded? And I hope people who did meet-up didn't think 'oooh don't want to speak to them anymore' Wink Wink

Hope you all have a lovely day Grin

snowwombat · 20/09/2010 10:30

hi girls,
Am back, all went well. A was fantastic for his GP- slept through EVERY NIGHT. Work went well for me, although a bit tired from the travelling.
whenskies shame about the sandwhiches, will C have oat cakes or rice cakes with hommous/avo etc on them? As to shoes, you don't want to put them in stiff soled shoes until they are walking well. There are some soft soled shoes that have a fairly decent flexible rubber sole that doesn't get soaked on the wet grass. We bought our pair in Oz so I can't suggest where might be the best for finding some.
bigcar hope dd1 got away safely and is settling into uni life
june poor you and C. Must have been so scary. A banged the top of his head when standing up under the dining room table and threw up a couple of times straight away. I was freaked out. Luckily DH has spent plenty of time working in A+E so he was great help.
gauchita so pleased about your new friends. Keep thinking i need to make some more here as my closest friends all move back to Oz at the end of the year. How is M after the MMR?
strawberry I love pumpkin patch for clothes and they often have sales.Good online range too.
ineed how is DS and the nursery run?
allsheep hello!I did survive my time away and A has learnt to say 'bye', which was the only thing he said to me on the twice daily phone calls. Apparantly he gave the phone kisses and hugs Smile

So much work this morning, so will finish my coffee break and get back to it. London tomorrow, Germany next week, Newcastle the week after. Busy busy until this baby arrives. DH has started nesting- the baby clothes are sorted, new mattress on order for the basinette Grin

whenskiesaregrey · 20/09/2010 11:54

here are some dresses from pumpkin patch

there are these dresses on 'justdresses.co.uk' but they look a bit more expensive!

There are some nice ones at Debenhams too, but for some reason it wont let me link those? Is it bad there are some I would probably wear myself?! Grin

Hi snowwombatt glad work went well! That's a pretty busy time ahead, when do you leave for maternity? You'll need the rest by then!
I saw a pair of shoes like that in Clarks this weekend, kind of soft and squidgy, but rubbery on the bottom. They were £35! Shock Is this how much these shoes cost?! I don't spend that much on my shoes!!

bigcar · 20/09/2010 13:56

afternoon all Smile

sun's out today, yay Smile

whenskies, yes E has those clarks ones here he has the full steam ones, they're all around £22 as far as I can see. They're really bendy and soft but are still outdoor shoes. E hasn't eaten sarnies for a couple of weeks, takes some doing to get him to eat a proper dinner at all sometimes, yoghurts and bananas are a fave at the moment. Dd1 famously went on a yoghurt diet when she was 13 months Hmm but then she survived, not sure my nerves did so well though Grin She's living in halls this year, her second choice uni she would have commuted to.

snow, I don't know how you keep up with such a busy schedule! E doesn't get the phone, he just wants to turn and look into the ear piece Hmm he'll pick up a toy phone and say hello but the real one, no! Lol at dh nesting Grin

dd1 seems to be all settled in at uni, freshers week this week although she was most disappointed to find she is the only one in her block whose lectures started this morning, nobody else starts until next week. Teaching is the full on all day everyday course. She's also got 2 more placements before christmas so she's certainly going to be busy.

waves to all Smile

bigcar · 20/09/2010 14:15

got some of these for E after watching M in hers last week, couldn't resist Smile

snowwombat · 20/09/2010 15:49

30% off dresses at pumpkin patch! Not sure how long for! Hope that helps!

A is being a feral, no sleep at nursery and being trying to get him down for 90mins with no luck. How can he not be tired?????

June2009 · 20/09/2010 20:21

heya, sorry been mainly absent from the thread. I got some kind of bug or food poisoning and was sick on Friday to finish off my rubbish week :S
C's cut forehead is healing very quick and only looks like a big scratch now, I don't think there'll be a permanent scar, phew!

skies john lewis do shoes as well. I go to clarks but I don't like their attitude. Check out when the sales is on, great bargains then.

gauchita how was M after her MMR? C had hers today. Had a bit of a scare when she fell asleep on her high chair straight after that (never done that before) but she is fine. Are you getting used to driving?

ineed Have you been doing some running? :D training is going well here, PT is expensive though, probably can't afford to do that twice a week too much longer. It is working though, I've almost lost two stones.
How's pre-school now?

sam did you find a dress? do you have a better idea of when you will be moving now?

venetian what are you up to?

snow gosh you do sound busy, where abouts in london wil you be tomorrow?

bigcar I haven't managed to catch up properly on your dd3's schooling, how is she getting on at the moment? The situation must be frustrating for you, I hope it doesn't get you down too much. Hope uni is all that your other dd was hoping for!

allsheep how's work going? and how is N coping with bedtime and night-time?

I have to go for now, C is waking up at the crack of dawn at the moment and work is currently stressfull, this combination makes for short nights and tired mummy!

OP posts:
June2009 · 20/09/2010 20:24

Forgot to ask if anyone is thinking about potty training? C is not ready yet but she does say "poo" sometimes after doing the business.
Will you go for a potty or one of the seats you put on top of the loo? and how strict do you have to be for them to "get" it? As in once you start do you have to do every poo in the potty? what happens when you are out etc?
I should read up on it!

OP posts:
whenskiesaregrey · 21/09/2010 11:39

Thanks everyone for the shoe recommendations! I love those clarks ones bigcar, found these in Mothercare that look a similar thing, so got him a pair of those. Aww, its sad him growing up, getting proper shoes :( no more tiny little socks and shoes!

June we are miles away from potty training here! I'm not even considering it yet! Although C has started going into the corner of the living room a few times to have a poop, so he must recognise when he needs to go. But when it comes to communicating that to me, I think we will be a while off that yet! I'll concentrate on getting him to walk first. I thought it would be a while off potty training yet, am I just behind?

Hi all!

I've been reading but have had busy days and never got to post Smile

June, hope you're feeling better now. Glad to hear C's all better. I was dreading the MMR, tbh, but she was fine. She got a cold on Saturday so we're now dealing with lots of mucus and cough Driving is going well, a bit of fear is always there, but I guess it's just a matter of time.

Bigcar, nice wellies!! Wink Nursery kept M's so I have to get her some for home Grin Glad to hear DD1 is all settled and already in the deep end Grin I'll send a FB msg to Ineed and ask her for your email address, no problem Smile

Skies, my sympathies on the baby food front, M has got pickier and pickier, teething, colds etc don't help either. I'm taking note of all the tips as well Grin We met these new friends by chance, really, but we're glad to have met them Smile

Snow, wow you're a busy lady! How fantastic A slept through for the GPs, hope he does it at home as well Grin Hope work is not too heavy on you and you're able to rest. Grin at DH nesting Grin

Strawberry, good links there, hope you find something nice for L Smile Oh, btw, thanks for that article you sent over on FB, very interesting Smile

You won't believe me but I started this post at 10am today Hmm M has a cold, yet again, and she's grumpy, off her food (more than usual) and when she coughs a lot she gets sick. Suddenly I have a lot of work after a somewhat quiet weekend so I hope she goes to bed without any "events" and I can take advantage of the night Smile

I'm sure I'm forgetting people, so sorry for a lame catch-up Blush

Waves to all!
