Hello everyone, sorry not to have been in touch.

Strawberry - Sounds like you have got it all worked out re: working and filing the papers. Official Receivers take a while to get it all together, the insolvency service website has lots of info.

Bigcar - love the wellies!

Gauchita - Glad M's MMR went well

Skies - N did the food strike thing too, did the yoghurt only diet when teething, but sometimes just gets bored of a particular food. I buy Clarks too, N is in walking shoes now which cost £28, but I remember their cruising shoes being £22.

June - Glad C's better. N has been telling us about pooing for a month or so now, you can always tell by the face and posture what she is doing! She does tend to go at regular times, wakes at night to be changed if nappy wet and sometimes is dry for several hours or after a nap. We are going to buy a potty this weekend and try to introduce it just for pooing.

Snow - Glad you and A both coped with the time away, not long now till number two comes along :) I thought us women were supposed to do the nesting, but I hear men can have sympathy pains during contractions so why not nesting too?!

N sleeping better only one wake a night and down to two feeds again yay :o I am going to wean fully at half term when I can catch up on sleep after a night of her screaming!

Love to everyone (waves) :)

bigcar · 22/09/2010 11:03

morning all Smile

june, what a rotten week you had, good to hear all on the mend Smile Dd3s doing ok thanks Smile she has a much better 1:1 support person this year which has made a huge difference, she is so much happier but I think she needs a more specialist placement so we're building up to the performance that all that entails!

Nooooo we won't be attempting potty training for quite some time yet Grin E is still at the stage where he thinks the noises that emanate from his backside are funny, anything else, nope Grin It is unusual but not unknown to have dc potty trained at this age, if you have an idea what her routine is you can introduce a potty at those times or try sitting her on at regular intervals or at bath time etc. I think at this age relaxed is the approach to take and see how it goes. She needs to be able to recognise that she needs a wee/poo and be able to communicate that to you so there's a lot to learn. If she was older then I would say yes, put her in knickers and aim to have every wee/poo on the potty even when out but i think for now anything that just promotes what a potty is for (but totally without stressing her) is ok and then if she seems to 'get it' then work from there. I'm sure there was a more succinct way of putting all that!

whenskies, does C manage to keep socks on? Without shoes I don't even bother with socks for E, they NEVER stay on! Lovely shoes thereSmile

gauchita, a girl can't have too many pairs of wellies, surely Grin Hope Ms ok, seems to be that time of year already for coughs and colds Sad

strawberry, hope L is ok now poor thing, good job you went to the gp! You seem organised with the bankruptcy stuff now Smile Make sure you take a photo of L in her dress for us!

allsheep, yay for the better sleeping SmileHalf term seems to creeping up very quickly, they doen't seem to have been back 5 minutes yet!

I had dd3s teacher of the deaf round on monday so I got her to assess Es speech, bit cheeky but I was worried after having had glue ear for most of last year and the beginning of this one. Thankfully all seems fine, she's going to check on him again in a couple of months Smile

ineed, snow

MrsMcJnr, laura, bunny, llyynnnn and anyone else, do come say hi would be noce to hear from you all Smile

waves to all Smile

hi girls,
isn't it cold tonight! DH has actually put the heating on, which is unheard of for him to do without nagging! He is on night shift, so just A and I tonight.

Have had a pretty relaxed weekend, has anyone been up to anything exciting?

We have booked a holiday for the end of Oct- I will be about 31/32 weeks but going to Greece and staying with family.

Very quiet on the thread, hope everyone is ok. How are the kidlets? A is walking everywhere now. Oops, he is not settling, so bye for now and hope to hear some news soon

Hello all

Sorry for absence, it's been a mad few weeks. DD is now full of cold and grotty as hell. She's off her food and it's really hard to get her to eat anything Sad She's been up at 5am every morning for about a fortnight now and it's starting to wear a bit thin now! I've cut back her nap to an hour and 15 mins and it's started to have an effect. She woke and cried for about 45 secs at 4.50am this morning and then went back to sleep until 5.40am, so going to cut it back again today so hopefully she'll be going back through until 6 in no time. Anything after 6 is a bonus....

It was DH's dad's birthday yesterday Sad. DH and his sis were supposed to be doing the Windsor half marathon with the rest of the family cheering them on. However, his other sister decided that it would be a nightmare so she pulled out a the last minute Hmm. So we all went for a pub lunch instead, which was nice.

The boiler's also packed up, though is deigning to give hot water. The plumber was supposed to turn up Thurs, then Fri and no show Hmm Angry. I phoned and left an arsey message and then he phoned and said he'd be round at 4pm today. Wonder if he'll show.... It's starting to get really cold in the mornings now, so I'll be really pissed off cross if he doesn't show up!

Anyway, sorry for impersonal post. Will catch up with you all individually next time

P.S. No running, no June. Definitely need to get started again though. I need to lose a stone before Christmas.....

DS loves school, which is brilliant.

June2009 · 27/09/2010 10:43

hey ineed it's so much harder to fit it in when other things around you aren't going as well as they could, yet you'd feel better for it, running clears your head. My trainer suggested I do interval training on the running machine for a while (20 mins at the same pace is getting boring) and it keeps things interesting. (jog/sprint/jog/sprint etc) Can you get someone to run with you?

I've kept to loosing a kilo per week since 01/07 and there's 13 weeks to christmas so the target is to loose 2 stones by then. It's hard work to say the least.

C. has phases where she wakes up at 5:30, she gets up at 6 or 6:30am at the moment so there is hope for E!
C. no longer has a nap in the morning and probably an hour or so in the afternoon, then goes to bed at 7:30pm.

sam The joke did make me smile :D I hope you're ok.

gauchita vene mrsmc what are you up to?

skies I booked the first aid course for mid-october on the Saint John Ambulance website.
C is definitely not ready for the potty yet but we have started looking. They sell transparent ones. I'm not sure whether I think this is gross or really convenient Grin.

snow is your family greek? dh is greek (cypriot). I've got good a couple of good addresses for nice greek restaurants in north london if you're interested :D

bigcar is your girl all settled and happy at uni now that it started? How old are your other children?

Do you guys go to any baby groups with your little ones? We signed up to a music group which C. enjoys a lot, and we carry on going to sign language, which is more of a "communication" class and she enjoys that too. We never make it ontime to storytime.

To both classes I find it hard to keep her sitting and quiet and all the other kids seem to be al well behaved and interested. C just stays standing up and then walks around a bit. Any tips?? I'm quite happy to just let her wander around if it doesn't bother anyone, she does interact and take part when there's something specific to do with an instrument or a song.

anyway, supposed to be tidying up the office so better be off!

take care juners!

venetianred · 27/09/2010 11:01

Hi all

Sorry I've gone very quiet. F is up to tooth number 14 - just through yesterday. Every tooth takes about three weeks to come through with lots of up in the nights. Much worse than C, although I remember thinking that teething is quite possibly the hardest thing of all and the biggest relief to get past (thousands of hours of hugs and mucho ££££ on calming medicine and powders).

C has been at school for three weeks now and absolutely loves it. The word 'weekend' now means much more to her, however she gets school-withdrawl-symptoms at the weekend!!!

I am completely exhausted and really hoping that once the last canine tooth comes through (the first round of molars are all through) that there is something of a break before the rear molars.

Last night DP was in London and both children were coughing (they have colds too at the moment) and crying so all three of us ended up in the big bed, but amazingly all slept well in the end. My DD stopped coughing completely once she got warm - maybe I need a new duvet for her room. I had this problem last year when used recommended tog but she had continual colds and when I doubled the tog warmth, she stopped coughing and getting colds. Strange isn't it.

I'm still busy trying to get a weekly routine in place. F to nursery Monday morning, Tuesday morning I'm co-leading our local playgroup and after school C swimming, C's friend over on Wednesday, DP home Thursday night, and bit of a family day on Friday. Somehow got to find time amongst that to start work on projects I have had no time for in past 4 weeks!!!!!

june I did the two day St John course and remember thinking the one day course was probably better. A lot of child minders and nursery teachers etc go to the 2 day course and it was slightly more geared towards that. The teacher said the one day course was more for mummies. But it may be different round the country.

I will come back to you soon and catch up. See you all had a big meet up. Well done on organising that.

Vene

venetianred · 27/09/2010 11:03

How on earth do people go to work during the day and get up for their kids half of the night? I have so much admiration for you all who do it, but cannot imagine how you cope!!

Gauchita · 28/09/2010 15:48

Hi all!

It seems like I've missed loads, even though I've been reading but not posting Grin I'm bound to forget loads now, let's just hope for the best Grin

June, you've seen M, she's exactly like that she might stay 5-10 mins tops in a place but after that everything is already too boring to stay and she wants to wander around and go somewhere else. We used to go to a stay and play activity near home quite often, at least until 3 weeks ago Grin I've been crazy busy these days so no hope. I think, according to what M's teachers have told me, their attention span at this age is quite small, so I wouldn't worry. As you say, she's interacting well with others and she does take part in activities. I think it's just a personality thing, I have friends with chilled babies, M's just not one of them Grin

Ineed, so good to hear DS is all happy at school now Smile Such a relief for us parents, isn't it? M's still a bit teary at drop-off but they say she settles quite quickly and then has lots of fun. How are the dizzy spells? Were you able to make an appt? Sorry to hear about E's new wake-up time, M sometimes does that and it's knackering. Hope she goes back to 6.30ish soon Smile

Vene, hectic weeks you've had. Glad to hear DD is loving her school Smile Wow at F's teeth, he's got quite a few now. Poor F I bet it's one of the most uncomfortable things, they have such a hard time. I think M might be getting her molars soon, at least one of them, as her fingers are always there and she chews them Shock

Strawberry, oh, such a PITA they've changed the system and you can't do it online. Hope you manage to get it done soon. I can't believe your HV. I wouldn't mind her getting it wrong, but being so patronising to you about it, Angry Shock Sorry to hear L didn't fancy the soup much Blush

Allsheep, glad to hear N's sleeping better Smile

Mrsskies, hi!

Snow, glad to hear things went well. Oooh exciting, a holiday!

Hi to everyone else, I'm sure I've missed lots of things, sorry!

Things have been crazy hectic here. I got an interpreting assignment for all morning last Thu and Fri, DH managed to look after M, but I'm in awe and take my hat off to full-time-outside-the-home mums, it's knaaaaaaaaackering! I had to leave food ready, snacks, bottles, and even what she was supposed to wear as DH is very goofy for those things, bless him, and dressed M in 24mth clothes the first day Grin Confused He enjoyed it a lot and it's helped M take naps with him, as she didn't use to before.

However, they asked me to come this whole week as well and DH was busy so no one to take care of M... I asked a friend and she stayed with her today, and will do again on Thu and Fri, which are the days she was available. On top of that I've had translations so I've been going to bed at 9pm Grin

Anyway, I've also had to brave the motorway on my own and I've learnt lots. Bless my satnav, I'd be literally lost and going round and round the same place if it weren't for it Grin

Hope you're having a nice week, ladies!

Waves!

bigcar · 29/09/2010 11:34

morning all Smile

strawberry, that made my lot giggle Grin Hope Ls mouth has healed, that must have hurt! What a pain not being able to do your forms online.

snow, yay for more walking from A Smile and holidays in Greece, sounds lovely. No heating on here, it's not October yet! But then our house seems to hold the heat quite nicely, especially if everyone is home it's quite warm.

ineed, hope your dh was ok, the 'first' anniversary of anything is always particularly hard Sad Did the boiler man turn up in the end? How's Es sleep, hope you're getting a bit longer now. Good to hear ds is liking school now, makes leaving so much easier!

june, you're doing fantastic with your weight loss, could do with a little of your motivation myself! E wouldn't sit still either at a group thing, he's curious, wants to be off exploring. Dc's all settled into school again now thankfully, just back to the endless rounds of reading, homework and after school clubs. Ds1 is doing his chef badge at cubs next week, dh gets to go and eat the results, funnily enough I'm busy that evening Grin

venetian, hope F and dd are feeling better now. I was always cold as a child, needed a duvet and a folded blanket on my bed during the winter, my dad always used to joke that I would take a duffel coat on our holidays to Greece, I probably would have done as well Grin My lot all have those fleece blankets that they can use on their beds if they're cold.

gauchita, you have been busy!!! Satnavs definitely make life easier, although I have still managed to get lost using mine Blush How's your confidence for driving now you haven't the test to worry about?

we went to visit dd1 on sunday as it was her birthday on saturday (boyfriend went then), was nice to see her room properly, webcam is ok but not the same. It chucked it down so didn't get to do too much else but was lovely to see her. She seems to have settled in well, they were all cooking a big roast for sunday evening so at least one proper meal a week Grin The girls she shares with thought E and dd3 were gorgeous, shame they are so far away, could have acquired a few eager babysitters there Grin

waves to all Smile

whenskiesaregrey · 29/09/2010 17:40

Hi everyone

Feeling pretty rough at the mo, just a very quick pop in, but wanted to share with you that C took his first steps today, hurray!! Grin He has been standing on his own the last few days, and yesterday he went from sitting to standing without holding onto anything. Then today I stood him up, and he just walked off! Took about 5-6 steps then fell over! So got him to do it again to see if it was a fluke, and he did Grin I can't believe it! And I'm sure anyone who came to the meet up can't either, I thought we were a long way away from first steps! Grin Grin Just disappointed DH wasn't there, but I suppose that was always going to be the problem when he is at work most of the time.

Sorry for such a 'me me me' post, I just can't believe he walked on his own! Be back later, hope you are all having nice days xx

bigcar · 29/09/2010 17:45

Skies - well done C, was probably a confidence thing, there will be no stopping him now!

Gauchita · 03/10/2010 07:52

Hi all!

Boooo, it's raining here, not much but non-stop Sad

How are you all? On Friday I finished work and for the moment that's all. It's odd how for some days it's craziness and then suddenly it's really quiet Grin

Skies, yay! Well done C! I'm sure DH saw him by now, once they start they can't stop Grin

Bigcar, glad DD1 is settling in well Smile Driving around the areas I know is quite relaxed now, motorways and unknown routes are NOT Grin

Hectic morning today, I have to go to the laundromat (are they called like that here?) to dry some clothes, humidity and cold don't mix well with flats and laundry Hmm then to the supermarket and hopefully off to Leeds to get some shoes for me and meet some friends Smile

Hope you all have a lovely Sunday!

Waves to all

bigcar · 05/10/2010 10:45

such lovely weather we are having at the moment, shame I'm not a duck Grin

whenskies, hope you're feeling better, you didn't have that awful cold/fluey thing did you? It's doing rounds here, lots off school with it and dh is doing the whole dying swan bit with it as well Hmm How's C and his walking, is he off all over the place yet?

gauchita, goods news on the driving front then, that's great! It's not laundry drying weather is it, I'd be lost without my drier over the winter.

hope everyone's ok, waves to all Smile

June2009 · 06/10/2010 09:41

Heya!

It's all a bit grey and miserable at the moment, isn't it. Constantly raining a little bit here too! gauchita.
Have you got a bit of downtime to go swimming etc? Have you met up again with the other Argentinian couple?

We're very busy with work, preparing for end of year accounts, looking at figures trying to save some money where we can, having to make tough decisions, all quite draining. It's taking all of dh's time so he is a bit vague and distant.

I'm talking to him, he is making all the right noises but he is blatantly not listening. (I have caught him out several times, asked him "Are you listening? "yes" "ok, what was I just talking about??" "err, mmm, err, I... don't... know... Grin".
Does anyone else's dh also do this? Hmm

I've got a cold so I can't train which doesn't help (usually a brilliant stress deterrant and much needed "me" time. at least my trainer listens to me).

This morning I took C to nursery and as I can't train thought I'd go and buy a crappy magazine and go for a coffee and a croissant somewhere before work, cafe rouge or starbuks, and you know what, nothing is open at 7:30 AM. Shock ??

ok, dad's been on skype and I better get a move on today!

have a lovely day Juners!

OP posts:
snowwombat · 06/10/2010 18:00

hello everyone,
How are you and your little ones?

Ok here, the crazy time for work is over and now time to wind down a little. Only one or two more trips to do, both day trips, thank goodness.
A and I both full of cold and coughs so nights are bad but he seems on the mend today. Swimming lessons start again on Friday, hopefully we will both be well enough to attend.

vene great to hear from you. I can't believe all those teeth! Things sound very busy, how is the playgroup leading going?
june my DH does the 'not listening', usually whilst in front of the TV.Bloody men! No, my family aren't greek, just live there. Looking forward to spinach pie and calamari
bigcar visit to DD1 sounds lovely, great she is enjoying uni life
gauchita hope you enjoying a little bit of quiet time and getting out and about near home
whenskies Yeah for C and his walking!
ineed hope the boiler sorted! What a pain
allsheep hope N is sleeping better for you and good luck weaning
mrsmc strawbs how are things?

Quick question about milk/bottles. A drinks from a cup in the day, but we still have a bottle of milk at bedtime and first thing in the morning. Should I be thinking about swapping this to a cup? Laziness on my part, the non spill cups are such a bugger to get milk out of, suppose I could just use his doidy or any other simple cup. Thanks for any advice.

Need to get his mullet cut too, do you go to a hairdresser for the first hair cut or do I brave it myself? He continues to have little hair on the front of his head and plenty at the back Smile

Gauchita · 07/10/2010 11:29

Morning all!

We have some lovely sunshine here, for a change Grin Let's hope it lasts all day at least.

Snow, glad to hear work has calmed down a bit, it should help you recover from the nasty cold. Hope you feel better soon. M drinks from a cup during the day but uses bottles when having milk before a nap or bedtime, just like A. I also opted for this as I didn't think a cup would be "cot-friendly" Grin but I'm open to be corrected Grin We've had no haircuts here either. You're going on holiday soon, right? How exciting!

June, ohhhh the classic male feature Grin DH is an expert, I think he's been perfecting it with the years Grin I can't remember what TV show it was (a comedy series) where a character said the trick was "to listen more or less to what they're saying so that if they ask you can repeat at least the last few words" Hmm Not helpful, DH found it funny and I think puts that into practice as well Sorry to hear things are busy, it's the same here, DH is crazy busy at work, super super super busy... We've seen our Argentinian friends again, yes. It's very usual back home to get together quite frequently, a couple of times a week even, if you can Grin The girls have a great time together, so that's great. How's C? Hope you find a bit more time to go to the gym.

Bigcar, you made me laugh with your duck and dying swan phrases Grin The latter is another male feature, huh? Grin Hope things are well.

Hi to everyone else!

Today it's our wedding anniversary. DH, bless him, has a track record of not being a good present finder/surprise giver Grin so let's see what happens today Grin

I bought a French course about 3 weeks ago. I need to add it as another working language and the sooner I start the better Grin as that takes time. I'm studying every evening when M goes to bed, which does require a lot of will when you have the TV near Grin

M's blabbing NON STOP now. It's completely unintelligible, a sort of "gujigujigujiguji" and similar sounds with different intonations and facial expressions Grin It makes me laugh so much Grin

Hope you're all having a good day, ladies!

Waves

bigcar · 07/10/2010 12:04

morning all Smile

gauchita, congratulations Smile crap pressie buying - another male feature Grin I usually go for the give him a few options approach, at least my dh has finally remembered what month our anniversary is, he just asks the dcs the date now! Wow, I wish I had a flair for languages, that's impressive Smile Oh I love the babbling, you can have a whole conversation with E now, he's very definite about what he's saying and has all the hand gestures, it's very funny. Caught him telling ds1 off the other day, had the pointy finger and right tone of voice Grin

snow, good to hear things are slowing down a bit for you, is dh still nesting? Will be interesting to see how you get on with As haircut given A and Es 90s mullet matching styles, do come back and tell us! E is the same with bottles/cups, got him a couple of these as I thought it might bridge the gap a little, sort of works as it's a soft teat and slightly easier but he still doesn't drink as much as he does from a bottle. The only reason it may be an idea to get rid of the bottles would be if you're planning on using the occassional bottle for your new little bundle so A doesn't think the new lo is getting his drink.

june, my dh does that, especially when on the playstation! have been known to do it myself when mning Blush Hope you're feeling better Smile

we've been looking at high schools for ds1 the last couple of weeks and have submitted our application online this morning so fingers crossed now!

E seems to have finally got the knack of going to bed and settling himself, yay! Hopefully now we can slowly bring his bedtime forward a bit, he's still going quite late, think it's having the older dcs running about.

waves to all Smile

Gauchita · 07/10/2010 17:06

Hi ladies,

I have a quick question and I apologise in advance for TMI maybe. I'm due to get my period in about 12-13 days. I noticed a little spotting yesterday in my pants but thought nothing of it. I went to the loo a while ago, however, and found a big stain of blood, as if I had got my period.

Could my period have suddenly moved forward so much? Or is it possible I had a miscarriage and didn't realise?

I'm sorry if I sound daft but this never happened before and as we had just started TTC the days do sound odd.

snowwombat · 07/10/2010 17:57

gauchita hope you ok. Wierd isn't it, getting your period so early. It is possible for periods to start early, but i do wonder whether it might be something else- a breakthrough bleed, implantation bleed or an early miscarriage. Have you done a preg test? Hope you feeling ok with it. Don't think there is anything you can do except wait and see what happends next. Sorry not to be any help. Will check in later and see how you doing. [hugs]

bigcar · 07/10/2010 18:29

gauchita, hope you're ok. Snows advice sounds good Smile only other thing I can add, depends when you came off your pill, can sometimes take a couple of cycles to get back to normal. ((((hugs))))

Gauchita · 07/10/2010 19:07

Thanks for your replies, ladies. Very much appreciated.

Snow, I took a pg test yesterday after I saw the spotting. I had implantation bleeding with M so I thought that might be it but it was negative. That's why I sort of brush the idea off, now I wonder whether you get a positive if you're miscarrying? Confused

Bigcar, I stopped taking pills about 3 years ago, so that can't be an option Smile My periods came back in February this year and I've been regular, I have a 27 day cycle, that's why it seemed odd.

I'm ok, a bit confused and sore but then again, I have very painful periods the first two days so nothing new there Smile My first thought was just to let it be, after all there's nothing I can do... but then I came to post as I didn't know whether I needed to tell anyone about it like a MW, etc.

Thanks again for the replies, support and hugs Smile
