morning all

today this has made me smile!

llynnn, that's not easy is it! Is there any way he could work from home at all? Fingers crossed it's good news from his appointment

venetian, I wouldn't see the uncertainty any differently You just don't take the risk do you.

gauchita, we had rain after my post yesterday! It was dry by the time school finished so didn't last too long, today is a little cooler thankfully. M sounds so cute, singing is lovely, E likes a bit of a dance himself

skies, how are you doing today

bunny, hope you get on ok today with the consultant.

Heya, quick hello from France. We've had a good holiday, on the seaside mainly, and it's going to be hard to be back to work next week!

Saying no to bread pain au chocolat, wine, cheese etc is TORTURE! I still fit in my jeans though which is a first after a few days in France.

bunny WOW twins :D Congratulations!

vene sorry to hear about your dh loosing his job, dont worry about your friends and their plans, they'll understand (I know I would) if they cancel they can at least get their tax back on it (sometimes that's half the trip). At least you have a bit of notice to try and sort something else out in the meantine.

I'll be able to catch up better when we're back (late sunday evening), the internet connection is, err, "complicated" here.

take care juners

OP posts:
Gauchita · 24/07/2010 19:50

Hi all!

June, ohhhh French cheese and wine Torture indeed! Do indulge a bit, though, you'll go back to normal when you're back

Strawberry, I don't know what to suggest. I thought you were moving in with your parents this year as I thought your DH was starting Uni this Sep, but it's next year. It's so sweet of your grandma to be helping you. Could you maybe rent your flat and have that as income while you're living at your parents? Sorry if it's something you've already discarded as an idea, feel free to ignore. (((hug)))

Bigcar, that was funny It's very cute when they dance, isn't it?

Re. meet-up, it'd be great if we could start thinking of dates so that I can organise the trip (we're travelling from up here ), hotel reservations, etc. I also have to ask DH to take those days off at work (he usually works on Saturdays) so it'd be great to do it with a bit of time in advance, if possible.

I think for some Juners weekends were better than weekdays, for us that's not a problem. Let's see what the rest says

We're heading down to London soon as DH has to renew his passport. I think we'll be taking my car Speaking of which, I sorted my insurance today. I got a good deal from LV for £600. Oddly enough, they had quoted me £710 at first but when I asked them to put DH as an additional driver the quote went down those £110 I asked them whether that was because he's a more experienced driver with no claims, etc, and he said, "no, it's just because he's your husband" Well, it's cheaper so it's good for me anyway It did hurt, though, awful lot of money to pay all at once!

Waves to all!

June2009 · 26/07/2010 08:59

hey, finally back from holiday! The way back was tiring (a lot of driving/boat/driving) but I had a good night sleep and C is at nursery so I have 30 minutes before starting work.
sam so sorry to hear about your situation, you are under a lot of pressure. I don't know if you tried posting in "chat" or other sections of MN? Some people on there will be able to give you advice and ideas on what to do. They can help you work out a plan and have an open conversation first with your grandma about how long she can afford to pay the mortgage for and then with your parents about everything, including the possibilty of a new baby since that would affect them as well if you live there (tell them of your concerns about your back). good luck with everything, it's just a bad phase and it will get better.

vene I re-read my post and thought it came across a little bit inconsiderate, did not mean to undermine the problem. Glad to hear the new project means the situation has changed since then. Have you spokrn to your friend?

gauchita What car did you get? I was going to suggest LV, we use them. Good luck with the test. Yay at M. walking :D C. has been walking around a lot and fallen over so many times!! She had a big bruise on her forehead and her knees...(still learning to negociate the steps/stairs)

I did indulge in France by the way (yumyum), I just didn't pig out like I used to and was very careful to avoid bad stuff. My scales say I lost 2 kilos out there which seems weird but I have so much to loose I'm not surprised the first lot is coming off easily just by watching what I eat very closely. I have now lost a stone since I started (yay!).

bigcar glad to hear dd3's school is sorted for september that must be a weight off your mind, that and C's ears! Good luck with the summer holiday, how many children is it you have again?

mrsmc Hope you're well and preparing for your hose swap. A lot of people seem to have chicken pox at the moment, don't they. It should be over by the time you go though?
That reminds me I need to call the surgery for C's 12 mo jab. It'll be MMR next.

London meet-up
On a Saturday or a Sunday? There might be one better for transport for theones who come from further away?
I could do 14/08 15/08, 21/08 /22/08, 11/09 12/09.

I like the idea of the farm bigcar suggested, would you send that link again please? Did you say you went there?

The trip to France was quite hardwork and next time I will ask one of my cousin to do some babysitting for me. It was hard to catch up with people while running around entertaining the baby and everybody said I look tired (and I was too)
Please re-assure me that you lot all look tired as well? Isn't it tiring for everyone looking after a baby non stop?? Maybe I should start taking vitamins.

sorry for the ones I missed, my half hour is over, back to work now!

morning all

can't believe I've just seen something on christmas shopping!!!! It's JULY ffs, one of the shopping channels [sad dh!] had a christmas thing

strawberry, it may all sound pretty grim, but you will get through this ((((hugs)))) Any possibility of bringing your plans forward a year and dh doing uni this september? A level results are out on the 19th august so you still have a little time if you wanted?

gauchita, so pleased you got the insurance sorted, don't get the difference though Will you be driving round London then? Will watch out for you

june, I just have the 5 dcs and yes, I will admit to looking a little tired I think the first year is the worst for tiredness as our los will gradually become much more independent from now and life gets a little easier. Don't forget you work from home too which I'm sure must add to the pressure. Fantastic weight loss, dead impressive

do you think a saturday would be better? More buses, trains etc could make travelling a little easier? It was this place, not been there, just walked past and have heard other people say it's quite nice. I think it's more a park with some small animals rather than a full on farm, could well be wrong though! Like the fact you have to have a child with you to get in.

Hello!

Consultant visit was OK - just more scanning and talking about all the potential complications. Basically this is a high risk pregnancy, so won't be comfortable about how the twins are until they are born. Between now and then lots of scanning and monitoring and finger crossing. Its amazing how time helps you get used to what started as a v big shock!

Strawberry - oh, you really do sound v stressed. I agree that its worth posting in another section of MN w some questions, requests for help as it appears there are many MNetters with lots of experience and excellent suggestions. Knowledge and ideas will hopefully make you feel a bit better about the best way to approach this.

Bigcar - excellent suggestion to go to Coram Fields! I have been there before and it was v nice. Do we need to think of proximity to train lines? I can meet wherever, and Saturday is good for me - will just bring DD along unless DH wants some father/daughter time.

Speaking of which, DD is besotted w her dad, which can actually get tiring for poor DH - she chases him around the flat and if he goes to the bathroom, she bangs on the door until he comes out. Poor man. Although it does give me a break!!

whenskiesaregrey · 26/07/2010 13:30

Hi

Just a quick one, popping back later...

re: meet up, I would be interested, but I wouldn't be able to do anything until 2nd week in Sept. My weekends are friends wedding this weekend, hen weekend 6-8th Aug, DP's stag day 14th Aug, wedding 21st Aug (argh!), honeymoon 22nd Aug til 5th Sept! So first weekend I am free is 11th Sept.

We are leaving C with my mum while we go on holiday, and to be honest, its starting to really worry me. I dont know if I am going to be able to relax without him, and I feel awful for not taking him with us we arranged it before he was born, and I didn't comprehend how hard it would be We are going to Jamaica, and I keep trying to reassure myself that there wouldn't be much for him to do, and he would have a lot more fun with my mum and sister who have zoo trips, aquarium trips, days out planned for almost every day. But I still feel awful

Will pop back later for proper catch up everyone, hope you are all well, and had nice weekends? Welcome back June!

lauraloo09 · 26/07/2010 15:01

hiya all just to mark my spot again will try and catch up later.

I'm not sure if i can do the meet up now as Dh and I are going to Liverpool in sept to see family so dont think i can manage the trip to liverpool and to london

whenskiesaregrey · 26/07/2010 19:02

lol, now laura Liverpool would be a much easier meet up for me!!

Gauchita · 26/07/2010 19:07

Hi all,

Skies, hi! Ohhh Jamaica You're going to have a great time. Hope you feel more reassured, your mum will be elated to have C and do fun things with him.

June, trips are definitely tiring, no matter how much we enjoy them. When I was in Ecuador my parents helped loads and I still felt exhausted, so don't worry, not the only one at all I got a Toyota Aygo, it's tiny but the pushchair fits so it's OK. I wanted a tiny one to start with, big cars scare me Oh M has quite a few bruises in her legs, she falls hard sometimes, doesn't seem too bothered, though

Bigcar, how was the JLS concert? Who went with DD in the end? Oh, I saw some thread titles on here about Christmas shopping, I couldn't believe it but well, each to their own LOL at your DH watching shopping channels Please do tell him I laughed a bit Oh, I'm not sure I can face the big L on four wheels yet I don't think my pelvic floor would stand that very well Buses are quite scary and over here there're not as many You can walk around in peace

Bunny, glad the appt with the consultant went well. I didn't know twin pregnancies were considered high risk. I hope you feel a bit more reassured after the appointment. How nice you get to see the babies every two weeks We have everything crossed for you here and I'll include the bubbas in our prayers as well, so that everything goes smoothly How cute is D running behind your DH and knocking on the bathroom door!

Vene, how are you? Did you manage to speak to your friend? Thinking of you.

Snow, hope A's chicken pox is not bothering him too much. How's the bump?

Allsheep, how are you?

Re. meetup. We're going to London on 8-9th August so even though I love the city two weekends in a row might be a bit too much travelling If skies is free on the weekend of 11-12th Sept and June too, maybe the rest of the Juners could let us know what they think of that one (it would work for us too).

Quick question, I've noticed that when M walks, her ankles bend somewhat inward, it doesn't seem to hurt her but is that normal? Does it correct on its own? Or should I maybe get her some shoes with ankle support?

Oh, I think we're starting to plan a second baby

Hi everyone

Strawberry if you do decide to go for the Wallasey option, that is only down the road from me, so if you ever need anything I could always help?? My mum looks after C every Friday for us so I can save a days nursery payments, and he loves it with her, so I know he will have a ball. I suppose its just me!

gauchita how exciting! Good luck! I'm sorry I can't help with your question, but I dont think Cs ankles turn in when he stands up. But, with regards to walking, little C is a bit away from walking yet!

bigcar I think I was watching some Christmas shopping the other night, lol!!They were selling jewellery boxes in the shape of letters

bunnymother so glad the appointment went well. I suppose the Drs just have to keep you informed of all the possible complications, so as to cover their own backs in a way. Hope you can start to relax a bit soon xx

June well done on the weight loss! How much more do you want to lose? I'm on my wedding diet at the mo, drastically cut out carbs and sugar, and cut out all snacks. Its soooo tough!

Re: catch up again... Sat would be better for me, I wouldn't be able to do Sundays once the football season has started again!

Hope you are all well xx

MrsMcJnr · 26/07/2010 22:58

Hey ladies life is a bit hectic just now, we have 3 sets of friends in town plus we are trying to get ready for the house swap and our holiday next Thursday! We still have the cat issue, what in earth am I going to do with her? Plus our swapping friends? other son came down with chicken pox yesterday and has it really badly. They fly over next Weds so as I understand it he should still be in quarantine so I don?t think I can let my DCs even see theirs as that would really spoil our hols if they came down with it. Am also worried about DH seeing them and passing it on to our DCs and about us going to a chickenpox infested house and about chicken pox infecting ours. Anyone know anything about chicken pox?? Will try and catch up now.

MrsMcJnr · 27/07/2010 00:20

I?m having to keep a twins secret in real life too one of the Mums from toddler group who has a 20m daughter recently had a MC and I tried to hold her hand through it as I know what a lonely time it is. Anyway, she is 8 weeks with twins now Fraternal twins. I am so excited I am almost broody!!

Bigcar ? great news about E and your DD3. Your Moussaka tradition is a lovely one What makes me sound different about DH? We are ok actually, better than before but think this holiday home will do us some good, some trips down memory lane etc etc? My DS gave up Bfing himself too, there is no way A will.
She is now feeding more than ever again, I guess it?s because it is so hot. She virtually claws at my top whenever she sees me even though she drinks tons of other liquids too. How are the summer hols so far?

Am v excited I managed to score DH and I VIP tickets to see Faithless this weekend I think I am more excited about the champagne tent than the band but they are DH?s favourites!

Gauchita ? hey there

That injection really knocked A for six last week. It?s a new version of the PCV and apparently friends? kids have had bad reactions too. Might think twice about the next and final dose

Bunnymother ? how are those baby buns? Don?t worry about Delie; she will love being a big sis to twins

Venetian ? loved what you said to BM how are you? Is all ok on the home front? You have so much stress just now; it must be so hard telling your friends

Snow ? how is poor A feeling? Will he be spot free for his Christening?

Whenskiesaregrey ? I did know that about the hair gene, it?s a funny one isn?t it?! hope the funeral went as well as it could and good luck with the job Jamaica ? lovely C will be spoilt rotten! Plus he won?t remember in years to come!

Hey Llynnn ? sorry DH?s back is still bad

Strawberry ? horrible situation hon, no wonder the PND is being exacerbated, just wish I had a miracle solution to suggest. Is your mortgage interest only? If not would be worth making it so for a while to make your month to month for manageable. Keep talking to us. Venetian?s idea is a really good one, seriously consider it! Have you seen the Newport state of mind song on U-Tube? Brilliant started packing today, nightmare!

Hey June how can you say no to yummies on holiday!? well done on the weight loss, it is sooo hard and I have put on 4 pounds now with our friends over here..sigh ? wanted to go back to Scotland looking good! I?m still taking prenatal vits due to BFing!

lauraloo09 · 27/07/2010 10:15

whenskiesaregrey where in liverpool are you? I'm going to Spittal (think thats how you spell it) so could do a liverpool meet up lol.

big hello to lovely juners - I'm in panic mode at moment, i'm still on Pill and period was supposed to start yesterday, i've had cramping but no bleeding as yet and test last night was negative - not saying a new baby would be a terrible thing but with finances and going for my 1st Dan black belt in Karate in November now wouldn't be a good time for a baby lol

bigcar · 27/07/2010 10:33

morning all

bunny, pleased the appointment went well Does your unit have a midwife that supports high risk women, mine does, although didn't find that out until after E was born sometimes just seeing the doctors, things can get very medicalised (if that's even a word!) and the actual care part gets pushed to the back burner. Lol at D chasing her dad, E and dd3 go loopy when dh gets in from work, they both run over to the gate shouting hello and put their arms up for a cuddle

whenskies, wow, that wedding is coming round quick isn't it?! What are you both doing for you hen/stag weekends? Jamaica, how lovely, of course you will miss C but it will also be lovely to have some time alone together, times like this are often few and far between when the dcs start arriving, make the most of it How's you dss getting on? Omg, that's the one dh was watching, lol!

laura, maybe you could meet up with whenskies instead, even getting to Liverpool must be a bit of a trek for you! How's S getting on?

gauchita, dd2 loved JLS, mil actually thought they were pretty good too am I right to worry about the woman apparently they did a bit of Michael Jackson stuff in the middle, it's not like they have a massive back catalogue of stuff is it?! oooh exciting. Es ankles don't bend in, worth asking the hv/gp if you're worried, it's probably nothing but won't hurt to get it checked.

strawberry, glad mil was of some use, at least you have another option now

MrsMcJnr, from wiki: Chicken pox is spread easily through coughs or sneezes of ill individuals or through direct contact with secretions from the rash. A person with chickenpox is infectious from one to five days before the rash appears.[5] The contagious period continues until all blisters have formed scabs, which may take 5 to 6 days at which point they are no longer contagious. So my understanding would be that by wednesday next week he should be clear as it will have been about 10 days. Good to hear things are well with dh, I thought you sounded a little fed up maybe with some of his behaviour, great to be wrong Is A fully recovered now after her jabs, poor thing? Maybe being in the slightly colder climes of Scotland will let you know if it's just the heat affecting As feeding. Champagne tent sounds good, my problem is that as I drink so infrequently these days, I'm fairly much plastered after 2 glasses [cheap lightweight date emoticon] Hope you have a great time! Only 2 days into the hols so far not so bad, loving not having to do the school run, E was up at 6 today so no lie in, but hey, no school run

so, is saturday the 11th of september looking good for everyone then? Bunny, if we go to Coram Fields, will it still be ok if it rains, or do we need a plan B? Does Coram look good to everyone, think it's fairly central but do suggest something else if it's not good for anyone else?

waves to all

Gauchita · 28/07/2010 11:32

Morning all!

Bigcar, glad DD2 (and MIL) enjoyed the concert I couldn't find the price to visit Coram Fields in the website, but I can't imagine it'd be free. Does anyone know? That day is OK for us, DH has already written it down in his diary

Strawberry, glad to see you're getting great advice on the thread. Do you think you could visit your doctor again and discuss getting some medication?

Laura, any news?

Mrsmc, not long for the holidays now! How exciting for you. All packed?

Skies, hi! When's the wedding day exactly? What are the plans for the hen?

Thank you all for the advice re. M's ankles. In a way glad to hear it's not "normal", I'll give her HV a call today.

Chasing payments again over here, unfortunately I hate having to do this, it makes me so uncomfortable to write email after email. I feel embarrassed although they're the ones who should feel that way

Hope you're all well.

Waves!

whenskiesaregrey · 28/07/2010 13:19

Hi everyone!

MrsMc has your DH had chickenpox? My understanding is the most contagious stage is when the spots are just forming. So if he has already had them, he won't get the spots and therefore wont be contagious? But saying that, I have had chicken pox twice, but the second time was very very mild. So I've not been much help there have I!

Gauchita I know what you mean re: chasing payments, its horrible having to ask for money isnt it! But, this is your living, the people should pay!! I never ask for things back if I have lent them to people, because I hate the awkwardness. Did you see that post on here yesterday about people not giving cake tins back??

Wedding is 21st Aug (argh!) and hen weekend is in Leeds we are having a meal on the Fri, then fancy dress 80's style on the Saturday night, can't wait!!

Bigcar so are your DC still in school? The children round here broken up last week, which is great for us as we live on a road next to a school, so getting to work in the morning if I am running late can be a nightmare!!

See, everyone with more than one DC I have spoken to says I should make the most of being able to have the time with just DP and I, and I know they are right! When I go away for hen weekend that will be the test I suppose! It was funny to see the little look of panic in DP's eyes when he said 'I didnt realise you were going for two night' .

Have you got anything planned for the DC for the holidays?

Lauraloo I live just outside of Liverpool, on the Wirral. Technically Spittal is not Liverpool either, about 4 train stops from me on the Wirral Line! Any update on the test?

Can I just ask, those of you with DS, or DD I suppose ... C is totally obsessed with his willy! Every nappy change, its a race for his to grab it and tug it, twirl it, stick his finger in it. Obviously when he is covered in poop I have to stop him which leads to a big kick off! He lies then and giggles away while his fiddles with it . This morning, he had a bit of redness on his balls, so I was rubbing a bit of sudacrem in, and he was giggling away ! Are your DS's the same, or is he destined to be one of the lads that walk around with their hands down the front of their pants?!

snowwombat · 28/07/2010 13:39

hi girls,
will do a proper catch up very soon but just wanted to respond quickly to whenskies and gauchita
whenskies A loves his willy. That very special relationship started a few months ago and will be life long i am sure!
gauchita it is normal for little one's ankles to roll in a bit at this age. everything is v v flexible and they don't develop an arch in the foot for a few years. So basically, all little one's are flat footed! Now M is walking, a good pair of shoes is important and do check with your GP to see if they have any concerns about excess rolling in. I have spent years looking at the feet of little people and the vast majority have normal developing feet. Please ask if you have any more queries.

We ok here, still not out and about as not all of A's spots have crusted over. The current advice is usually you are ok after 5-6 days- as long as the spots crusting/scabbed. We are surrounded by friends trying to conceive so I am being extra cautious and keeping us out of circulation for a bit longer.

June2009 · 29/07/2010 06:56

hey "skies" two of my friends have little boys the same age and they do exactly the same, normal behaviour I think

That day in september is fine for us too.

Our internet connection has been up and down, very annoying.

right C needs help with breakfast!

heya, just a quick one to let you know amazon are doing the Gro blackout blind for £18.40 today. it's been £25 for ages...

OP posts:
whenskiesaregrey · 29/07/2010 11:08

june that blind is very clever! The best thing we have bought C (although he would no doubt disagree) is a blackout blind for his bedroom. The windows in this house are huge, and when he started waking up at 6am, then 5.55am, 5.50am etc, we had to do it! We are not morning people in this house

snow hope the chicken pox arn't bothering A too much, I bet your glad they are starting to get better?

Thanks for the reassurance re C and his willy . I remember reading a thread on here a week ago or two about a mum who didn't know what to say when her DS kept telling her his willy was, ehem, 'pointing' . Boys are strange little things arn't they , I suppose the novelty never does wear off for them either!

Invoices are starting to come through for the wedding now, have a busy few weeks! Going down to florist today, and meeting photographer at the venue on Monday. Then we have the final dress fittings on Wed. I am a bit weary about how much the adjustments are going to cost me; whenever I ask the lady for the bill, she keeps putting me off. She is meant to be ringing me back today, I hope it isnt too expensive . Our friends wedding on Saturday will be a useful for day for us, as we can see what we have forgotten to do !
