Thanks for the sympathy Gauchita, I caught it last week at a school I worked in, the bug was going round. Got rid of it, but then it came back, now DH and N have it too They came down with it today. At least N still got to go to the party yesterday. She had a great time playing with her cousins and she was dancing to the music Glad M's party went well too and that she had a good time

Hi to all Juners

venetianred · 21/06/2010 12:00

Glad the party went well Gauchita - the hardest thing about the weather up here is you simply cannot plan around it being sunny.

I am having a little special picnic party today for DD and her best friend and thankfully it looks lovely - but it will probably cloud over at 3.30pm! Anyway, I shan't hold my breath.

Gauchita · 21/06/2010 12:03

Vene, sending lots of sunshine your way It's been sunny here since very early, fingers crossed for it to last until the picnic is over at least

Gauchita · 21/06/2010 19:57

Hi all,

Llynnn, hi! I saw your post on FB, happy anniversary! Hope you've had a lovely day.

Bigcar, oh no Sorry to hear you're still having problems with them. Hope they give you some answers (and solutions) at the emergency meeting this week. I'll be thinking of you. I can see your house is as football crazy as mine these days Argentina plays tomorrow night so I'll have to beg gag DH not to scream at the TV as M will be asleep already Is England playing tomorrow as well? Fingers crossed for a win! We'll be rooting for you

Allsheep, hope you're all feeling a bit better today Glad to hear N enjoyed her birthday party. It's the cutest thing to see them dancing to a tune, isn't it?

Vene, hope the picnic went well

I had a scary moment this afternoon, ladies DH was about to go to work and I was trying to make M's dinner. M kept trying to come to the kitchen (it's an open kitchen/dining room) so I put her in her playpen. She got so upset she let go a cry but, a few seconds later, I realised she wasn't letting go... She hand't taken another breath I went and picked her up, she was so upset but wouldn't breath! Her lips were looking purple and she was a bit floppy, I couldn't believe it had upset her so much She took a deep breath once in my arms but, God, how scary

She was OK after that, had dinner, played, etc and went to bed without any problem but I keep reliving it in my head now and I feel so guilty. They were only a few seconds and I never left her, I was watching her but...

Hope you're having a nice evening ladies. Happy summer solstice

Don't worry Gauchita. I read a lengthy article on this. Some children do it, but the body makes them take a breath eventually. I read they could do it for many seconds. Am so relieved my dd never did it as I can imagine how dreadful it could be.

The picnic was so lovely. Two girls in Little Mermaid costumes on scooters - a lovely sight. And the little lads happily playing on the rug. Just perfect.

llynnnn · 21/06/2010 21:44

Hi

Yikes Gauchita! That must've been so scary. Really hope it was just a one off thing, that kind of thing really sticks vividly in your mind
Thanks for the good wishes, we've had a nice day just chilling in the house with the girls, his back is still bad but we are planning a lovely night out for when he is better (whenever that may be?? )

Vene - the picnic sounds lovely! pleased it all went to plan

Allsheep - hope you are all feeling better today. Its so awful when the whole household is feeling poorly

Bigcar - I didn't realise your dh had hurt his arm. Hope it is back to full working order very soon

oh no, work tomorrow.....yawn!!!

AllSheepareWhite · 21/06/2010 22:06

Gauchita that must have been scary hope you are ok now. Don't worry she will be fine see here for info.

Bigcar - sorry to hear about DD3's school, I am glad you have stood up for yourselves and for DD3's right to proper 1:1 support (I am assuming she has a statement of needs, I am new to the threads so have missed some of the details), make a list of all the problems you have experienced before the meeting so you can use it if it all becomes too emotional, don't know about you, but I know I have a tendency to forget things when upset/angry.

Vene - weather here was lovely today, hope you had lots of sunshine for your picnic

Picked up keys for new place today, moving Friday

Waves to everyone

MrsMcJnr · 21/06/2010 22:26

Happy birthday to all the babies whose big days I missed and congrats to all the Mummies for getting there more and more I see A as a little girl and not a baby, she walks about everywhere, trying to do everything such a lovely age!! It?s just as well as DS is being a little monster at the moment

Thanks for all the birthday wishes for A both on here and on FB we had a ball. Cupcakes and ballons at toddler group and then a big party on the Sat which we all enjoyed

Another football mad hubby here too!

Ineedmore ? hope Father?s Day wasn?t too sad and that you enjoyed the Race for Life

Lauraloo/Allsheep ? still a whole lot of Bfing going on here too!

June ? huge hugs, hope you are feeling much better now x

MrsMcJnr · 21/06/2010 22:28

Gauchita - DS has twin girlfriends his age (2yrs4m) who do this whenever they are upset or hurt, their mother urges them constantly to breathe and eventually they do but it is scary, poor you. Hope she grows out of it very fast x

Ineedmorechocolatenow · 22/06/2010 08:03

Hello all.

Gauchita - that sounds so worrying. DD has done that a couple of times, you just think BREATHE... DS also had febrile convulsions when he was little and he'd hold his breath for what seemed like minutes (but was probably about 30 seconds). It's really scary - I really sympathise

Father's Day was okay, a little sad, but okay. It was my birthday on Saturday and I ran the Race for Life for FIL. It was an emotional day, but great. DH came down with the kids so it was lovely. Went out for a meal with DH for the evening and made sure I had an extra big pudding!

Glad to hear that all the parties went off okay and all your LOs had a lovely time.

E seems more demanding than ever! It's exhausting! I'm so used to DS being so laid back.... I suppose it's only natural that some of my DNA had to come out somewhere! She's not walking at all, but you'd never know it. She's a real climber and ended up on the dining room table the other day... I can't leave her for a second to go to the loo or something before DS shouts she's on the table.... . She's the speediest crawler too so I don't think she sees the point of walking. She's also really shouty and lets me know what she wants - especially when we're in the supermarket! I get a lot of cat-bum-mouth looks from people..... she just likes to shout!

Anyway, off to toddler trampolining today. Enjoy your Tuesday girls...

Took the kids to the zoo yesterday

Ineedmorechocolatenow · 22/06/2010 08:07

Aaagh - don't know why the end of that message cut off. Anyway, had a nice time at the zoo!

Gauchita · 22/06/2010 10:28

Hi all,

Thank you for all your kind words and support, I was quite shaken last night, I couldn't get the visual out of my mind but reading your posts and the link as well (thanks Allsheep ) helped a lot. Thank you

Ineed, happy belated birthday Glad to hear you had a lovely day. Bless DS shouting "she's on the table!" in a warning message for mum

Mrsmc, good to hear from you! Glad A had a great day on her birthday. The other day I saw on FB you were going to see SATC 2 with some friends in a girls night out How was it? Hope you had a great time.

Allsheep, yay! Not long now to be in your new home HOpe you're all feeling better.

Llynnn, glad to hear you had a nice anniversary

Vene, awww I bet they looked lovely Glad they had a great time.

Great sunshine here again. I'm going for a walk with M. Back later!

lauraloo09 · 22/06/2010 11:24

Hiya everyone - sorry not been on for a few days been pretty manic here really just marking my spot to catch up later!

gauchita S was crying so hard when she fell out the cot that she wasn't breathing and lips started turning blue then was violently sick it was scary i know what you must have been feeling. S hasn't done it again thank goodness.

Sorry not really catching up with everyone i hope you are all well - this time last year my traumatic horrible labour was in motion (still can't believe i was 'talking' to you guys in between contractions before headig to hospital lol)

Getting final things for Sarah's birthday tomorrow, need to pop into town at 12 today for her card and wrapping paper for her toys...this is one spoilt little girl lol

Big waves and hugs to all you lovely juners

llynnnn · 22/06/2010 17:28

Hi all

Allsheep - good luck with the move! Hope all goes well

mrsmc - I know what you mean about them being little girls now, I love seeing Isobel do new things and her personality come through. I'm suprised at how different my 2 girls are though, Isobel is so much calmer and laid back and able to entertain herself than dd1 ever was lol!

Ineed - congratulations on doing Race for life Isobel is also a very good climber! she scares the living daylights out of me!

Laura - Hi!

chocciedooby · 22/06/2010 23:06

Hello everyone

Still struggling to keep up. Sorry I can't get on here more often.

Had a quick scan through the last couple of pages.

Milk - Elina has cows milk now. Started it last week and she loves it. She only has a bottle in the morning now and loves it. Then she has milk for a snack around 3pm in her cup and its straight from the fridge. Actually, thinking about it now, she doesn't drink so much then so I may try warming it up a bit tomorrow. She dropped her bedtime milk weeks and weeks ago

Meet up - Did you all meet up then? I would love that but its a little too far for me (coming from Dublin).

Happy birthday Sarah tomorrow

Elinas birthday celebrations were very quiet. Normally my best pal and her kids come over for the afternoon when its a lo's birthday and we play games and have treats, cake and candles etc but she was away this year so it was me and the kids. DH was working. We invited all the neighbours kids in and they never turned up even though they said they would! Can you believe it?? My boys were really disappointed as I had promised treats, dancing etc and they weren't interested without the others

Anyway, Elina is 1 now and is getting bigger and stronger by the day. She is standing at any given moment (at furniture of course) cruising along and enjoying her new little pink and purple outdoor trike

We all had a nasty tummy bug here a week or so ago. We all had it. It was awful. So pleased to be back to normal now.

June - well done with the gym. Hope you don't mind me saying this but try not to worry too much about all the running. I got really good advice from my little sister on this. You start off really slowly and only fun for up to 15 minutes for the first week or so. Then you very gradually build it up. You also only really need to run once or twice a week. If you set yourself a target of running 4 times a week you could soon get bored. Do a 10 minute walk before you run, followed by 5 mins of stretches and after your run do a 10 min warm down and stretches again.

I started running in Feb this year just once a week and also did an hour salsa class once a week. I built up my running to 40 minutes but still only once a week + the salsa class and it has worked wonders. I weigh less than I have in 7 years! I also managed to run the ladies 10k here a week last Monday in a little over the hour

Gauchita - that must have been really scary when DD held her breath. Poor you. Argentina doing well in the World Cup!

Hi to everyone else. Have to go to be now.Wrecked.

Gauchita · 23/06/2010 09:33

Morning all!

Choccie, hi! Sorry to hear your neighbours' DC never turned up for E's party. Odd how they used to turn up unannounced all the time and then they're invited and don't go? Glad to hear E's doing well not long until she starts walking!

Llynnn, hi!

Laura, happy birthday S!!! Hope she has a great day!!

Hi to all Juners!

Another day of sunshine here Yesterday M and I went for a walk along a canal with my translator friend and her DD. It was really nice but hot She's put her sewing skills into practice and is making some lovely bibs and nappy pouches and selling them We've bought a pouch and it's very good! I'd never be able to make one of those

Hope you have a nice day, ladies!

Waves!

bigcar · 23/06/2010 09:41

laura, a huge massive happy birthday to S, hope you have a wonderful day

choccie, very by your neighbours! How odd. On the other hand, how lovely to have some family time

gauchita, the argies are doing well aren't they, bet your dh is happy!

sorry to not be about much at the moment, just trying to get sorted for dd3s meeting tomorrow. E has also been back on abs with another chest infection, gp has prescribed another inhaler and also a blood test, that should be fun.

waves to all

Gauchita · 23/06/2010 10:08

Bigcar, oh he is I didn't have to gag him yesterday, fortunately, he whisper-screamed Fingers crossed for England today!

Sorry to hear about E's chest infection, hope the abs clear it soon. Will be thinking of you tomorrow.

MrsMcJnr · 23/06/2010 20:44

Hey ladies finding things hard just now. Both DCs are really trying my patience. I think it is the combined effect that is sending me into orbit but knowing that doesn?t help. A is a total joy most of the time, smiling and laughing and so affectionate but a PITA at night! DH has done a couple of the night shifts and she sleeps better for him but when DH goes into DD I can?t sleep and if I do I have nightmares, guess it?s just the anxiety. He said he?d do last night but he didn?t hear her cry so I went. She woke 3 times before 6.30 and wanted milk on the two last occasions ? just shows you that she doesn?t really need it (from when DH is there) but still wants if I am

DS is being very naughty and willful ? hey I know he is only 2yrs5m and that they are a PITA at this age but it is so hard. I am so fed up of telling him off and disciplining him, it is by far the worst part of parenting I think and those with younger babies look at you as if you?d just hit the child, totally unaware of how toddler tantrums can be and how they can wear you down. I could scream.

We had a lovely day on the beach with my Mum today. It is so nice to have back up so I can spend time one to one with each DC. DD and I put sand in her bucket and watched the sea (she was scared of the waves) and DS and I found stones to skim and paddled in the surf. DD slept for an hour this morning and 1 ½ to 2 hours in her buggy on the beach this afternoon and went down like a dream earlier than usual at 8pm. DS didn?t have his afternoon nap (normally 1 ½ to 2 hours) just had a 20 min snooze in the car and he is still kicking about in his room being a pest 1 ½ hours after we put him down, he is too exhausted to sleep. Silly Mummy letting him get that way.

MrsMcJnr · 23/06/2010 21:19

Ineedmore ? happy belated birthday and well done on the walk LOL at E?s antics. I have a climbing, screamer here too. She can get her leg up on things as high as her shoulder, I can?t believe it! Her favourite shout is ?Bah!? but she also shouts ?juice?! Her walking is so good now she is quite competent at going very fast in the opposite direction to DS! Even on sand! Need to buy her some shoes soon.

Gauchita ? had a lovely time at SATC2 with my girlfriends real escapism! Got home at 1am though and could hear A crying from the front gate, DH was fast asleep oblivious!

Hope Sarah had a lovely day Laura It?s A?s best friend?s 1st birthday today too!

Llynnn ? I can only compare with a boy and DD is so different! Much more emotional and demanding, what on earth will she be like as a toddler (or a teenager??!)

Choccie ? very envious of your milk position. That?s my ideal. DD is still BF in the night, first thing, before afternoon nap and before bed. Am trying to drop the mid-afternoon feed at the moment and of course the middle of the night ones Sorry to hear about Elina?s birthday party how rude that the kids didn?t turn up sounds like you are looking fab these days I feel a sight in my bikini, flabby white belly still bruised from my jabs

Bigcar ? poor E, hope he is much better soon

Happy Birthday Sarah

Mrsmc - I can totally get how you are feeling right now. Sound like me when my 2 boys were much younger. It is very tough at times with 2 small ones. Especially the terrible twos! Just keep making sure that you get away for "mummy" time as often as you can. It will really help you through.

Your nights are still so difficult which makes the days even harder as you are tired. I always thgouht I was a very patient person but over the years I have been ground down and now I blow a fuse quite quickly at times .

I also think that the hardest years (for me anyway) are from 12 months to 3 years. From then on things do get easier and once they get to school...... We have to enjoy them while we can because they grow up so fast these days .

I do feel quite good at the moment but.....bikini....don't think I will get away with that one yet!

bigcar · 24/06/2010 09:37

MrsMcJnr, don't worry. It will come back to bite those mums, honest. Remember, it's a phase, it will pass. Get some time to yourself when you can, it makes all the difference ime

llynnnn · 24/06/2010 12:51

Hi all

Well, I had to take Isobel to the docs this morning as she has a rash all over her arms and legs and had a fever yesterday....turns out she has chicken pox!!! Poor thing, its mild at the mo and she is ok in herself, just a little grumpy but its just what I need! So I'm now having to take next week off work as holiday as nursery wont be able to take her and my parents are on holiday and we'll spend the whole week rattling around the house with dh and his poorly back!! Joy! sorry rant over!!

mrsmc - I remember the 2 year old tantrum phase, its awful and very hard work and I didnt have a demanding one year old to deal with too. I feel for you and have to agree with choccie that when dd1 turned 3 she calmed down loads and is (generally!) a joy now. not much consolation right now but hope you manage to find some time to relax, you definitly deserve it

bigcar - sorry to hear about E's chest infection, hope he feels better really soon. Hope dd3's meeting goes well today too

choccie - very at your neighbours not turning up! The last I heard you couldn't escape them!! very typical and extremely annoying. I am very impressed and in awe of your exercise regime, wish I had the willpower to do it

Hi to everyone else
