Temp was 39.something. Not too bad but he feels warmer now so I know it's higher I've stripped him down to nappy and cracked open the window giving plenty of water. yes, he's had full dose of calpol and ibuprofen. THis is what happens every single time! I'm so sick of it! I'm not even by it anymore. Just and of course, very anxious that he'll stop breathing.
So, as promised, I've waited until he got a temp. I have the antibiotic (the good one) and he's had a dose this evening. Hopefully it kicks in soon.

He's coughing then gagging on his phlegm or whatever and taking ages to breathe in again and it's so horrid to watch!

StarExpat · 04/03/2010 20:07

ugh, I actually don't know what temps are in C at the moment anymore. All information escapes me as soon as I get anxious about something.
I want my ferenheit thermometer!

Star - I don't know anything about temperatures but if you're having trouble converting, is this any help?

50ftQueenie · 04/03/2010 20:31

Star - Listen to Myjob. Fever and high temperatures is an area she knows lots about. I would worry about anything over 39 and I am not a worrier.

StarExpat · 04/03/2010 20:33

I have window cracked open and he's in just a nappy and getting loads of water as needed. I'm hoping something will kick in soon. I can give him more calpol/nurofen in a couple hours I think. I'm going to just let him sleep in bed with me tonight, propped up on pillows. I'll keep monitoring his breathing and coughing that way and give him more meds when it's time (set alarm).
I just hope this antibiotic works. If we're doing this again in 3 weeks' time I'm going to scream.

StarExpat · 04/03/2010 20:38

Thanks everyone. I'm oging to take temp again in about 10 min to give him time to cool down a bit if he can.

CantSleepWontSleep · 04/03/2010 20:49

Poor Q . Fingers crossed for the new drugs.

Hi all, good thread title. Welcome Mrs Netz, dont feel like you have to keep up with us, just tell us what you've been up to till you get used to us

I'm probably gonna be in London on Thursday but unfortunately it's a flying visit.

Pops DIDN'T cry when she was dropped off in nursery yesterday .

Hope you're all well.

MrsNetz · 04/03/2010 22:25

Aw thx peeps!
Poor Q hope better soon!! Always a worry when temp up! I've rung nhs direct before just for reassurance and if they thought ds or ds needed it they send us to on call surgery. They always been very good.

Thx for welcome I started Reading through all threads since oct 08..hopefully catch up soon x

CantSleepWontSleep · 05/03/2010 03:59

at dh. Just asked him to try and put ds back to bed to which his response was 'why?' how about because he's your son too and i've been up with him since 3.25 and he was exactly the same with me pre-bed too.

MrsNetz - I'm sure myjob or someone can catch you up on a brief summary of all of us I'll try to if I get a few moments today to think properly. Don't make yourself nutty reading all of the old threads... you may then decide not to join us!!

Q is better this morning, thanks for asking, myjob. His fever was gone by 3.30am and we're giving 3 hourly doses of alternating calpol/nurofen now. I did this through the night and had a kettle steaming next to us, window cracked open and my hand on his chest to be sure he was ok because his coughs were so deep that I would hold my own breath waiting for him to breathe again. There was a little while there that I was so scared He spent the first hour from 4.30-5.30am just cuddled in my arms awake and babbling a bit to me. Then he perked up a bit. He starts to get the fever again after a few hours after meds. I think the antibiotics are starting to work now... hopefully.

But I slept maybe a few 30-45 minute bits throughout and am quite tired today. I've had to come into work because of meetings with parents today but cm only has Q this week so she's just going to cuddle him all day if he wants. But, when I brought him there, he was all smiles and wanting to play with her! So it's looking good...

Wow that was long winded... no time to go back and make it brief. It's ok if you're too tired to read it!

Csws for you. I hope you got some sleep in the end. my dh doesn't help at night time either. It's a total PITA.
