Still no talking here . But lots of squealing, pointing, moving chairs around to climb and get what he wants, and nodding and shaking. Why bother speaking when you can do all that?!

I feel the need to clarify that I did have DH with me as well as 3 children - you're not allowed to take 3 in on your own of their ages! He does have contact lenses so at least one of us could see
myjob - buffet food sounds lovely (bad influence here!)
50ft - wow to Ms conversation DD can say quite a lot of single words but none together. you'll get no peace soon and you'll be spelling everything outloud in case she repeats it.
Ekka - LOl at M growing out of his trousers in 24 hours!
Mine think the end of Bear Hunt is sad too! Always have done, I say the bear is tired and knows where they live (!) so he can always go back and eat play with them tomorrow....

An odd blip will be enough that I'll have to carry on going and seeing the consultant regularly unless I forget to enter that one in my book. Mind you, I've been very clever in managing to go for weeks without seeing them, as they weren't at the last clinic (it was supposed to have been blocked so that no-one could book appointments, but I did ), and when the midwife asked if I wanted to come back the following week or the week after that, I said 'I'll come back in 4 weeks thanks, as I have a scan booked for then anyway'! . She agreed as long as I agreed to get in touch if my levels suddenly start rising. Tbh I can't see them suddenly rising unless I stop eating properly. I haven't been as good as I was with ds though, in part because they set me easier targets this time (mine did seem to be tougher than most hospitals that other MNers were at), and in part because of a slight obsession with cake baking amongst my close circle!
The risks are more than just a big baby, but that's the obvious one.
I'm planning on refusing induction this time after the last debacle. But I'll smile sweetly when I offer to go in for regular monitoring of the placenta .

Q doesn't talk, either. Maybe we need speech therapy.
What are other GOOD sources of protein, 50ft that aren't meat? egg, beans lentils is what I do... help! need more.

oh yes I do eat nuts

StarExpat · 08/03/2010 09:00

I admire your strength with drs/midwives/nurses, csws.
Good idea not to have induction. They don't sound nice anyway. THey didn't finally induce me until after a long long time, but when they did, with the drip, at least I got the epidural at that point... which I'm guessing, you won't be wanting, so it would be even worse!

50ftQueenie · 08/03/2010 09:16

Star - I am going to attempt veggieism so I will be researching veggie protein as I want to keep my protein intake high. Cakes full of almonds sounds like the way to go to me!

pepperrabbit · 08/03/2010 09:20

CSWS, you sound very similar to me with the GD/PG thing. After my induction with No2 - went in Wed, had him following Tues morning....(sound familiar? ) I had so much more leverage to refuse the induction for DD. In fact they let me go a week over and I had her 2 days before the induction date.
Am off to the docs in a mo. Have had an unexplained pain/ache in my side, low down for 3+ weeks now. No idea what it is, hopefully it's nothing. Haven't googled it as i read an article in "cyberchondria" I could def develop that!

CantSleepWontSleep · 08/03/2010 09:30

Went to get ds up this morning and found him lying in a bed full of sick. Bedding and mattress now in wash, sleeping bag to go in next, and he needs to have a bath as he stinks!
He had spinach and ricotta tortellini and a tiny bit of garlic bread last night, so I guess that gives us our answer re whether he's really ok with dairy or not. Unless he just ate too much overall .

pepper - they let me go a week over last time! Although I opted to go in at 40+5 because it was a more convenient day to give birth - ha ha ha!

Cheese/milk is another good source of protein don't forget.

OP posts:
50ftQueenie · 08/03/2010 09:56

I was going to mention dairy in general as a good source of protein, not for D or M though eh? Poor D but more importantly poor you having to deal with the aftermath CSWS! You know, thinking back, when M was sick, I think she had ice-cream at my mum's the day before..... Hmm..... M seems to be uber-sensitive to dairy and if she has so much as a sniff, vomit poo ahoy!

I read on another forum that some vegan fella has made cheese from breast milk. Fab idea I think and often wondered if it was possible. I wasn't sure about it as the fat levels in breast milk are much lower than in cows milk aren't they......

Star - When M has her nap I'll dig out my nutrition books and have a gander.

50ftQueenie · 08/03/2010 09:59

Oh and Pepper - I avoid googling because I would definitely suffer from cyberchondria too! I was bad enough as a teenager with the medical encyclopedia. Hope everythings ok, it could just be a urine infection, they can cause all sorts of odd pains.

StarExpat · 08/03/2010 10:03

Yuck to the sick How awful. You have to get ds up?

CantSleepWontSleep · 08/03/2010 12:47

Not get him up as in wake him up star - just get him up as in get him out of bed (he's staying there now just like when it was a cot ). Although I think he'd have just stayed there without moaning all morning tbh - I only knew that he was awake because he'd put his music on, and he looked deathly pale when I went in to him.

got text from cm. Q is in a good mood, had calpol..etc. I'll bet he decides it's scream time when I collect him. Just because my head is pounding. 16 children all asking me a million questions at once isn't helping either. We have conferences (student led portfolios) on thursday so lots to prepare them for. Though been typing their stories and doing assessments this morning and sneaking in some MN for a few seconds here and there when I pass by computer.

StarExpat · 08/03/2010 13:03

oh, poor D
How sweet that he lays in there as if it were his cot! Q is often in bed with me by 2am lately and just climbs right out when he wants to be up in the morning. It's very very annoying!

I was so foggy headed yesterday (still am) that I think I may have given Q calpol too close together in dose and at one point yesterday... I'm not positive. But I think I did. ah! He obviously made it through the night and is happy and well today. Should I look out for some symptoms of over dose at this point? I'll write down doses given going forward.

pepperrabbit · 08/03/2010 14:58

star - he'll be fine. Don't even think about it again as he's ok today.
Well, went to the drs. Have to go for an ultrasound on my kidney and gallbladder and "a quick look at your ovaries". Hmmm.
I had one very odd period.
I have an appt for tomorrow afternoon and have to fast from 8am...
I can go privately hence the speed, but I'm a bit surprised it's that fast!

StarExpat · 08/03/2010 15:28

pepper -
I hope all goes well with the next appointment. What could be with the ovaries? Could it be a cyst?
A few years ago (when I first moved to the UK and didn't really understand nhs/private..etc yet) I had a smear test and I needed the result in order to get birth control (I think that was why... can't exactly recall) anyway, I needed it quickly. After the test, they said - ok, we'll have the results to you within 4-6 weeks time by post. I was then showed my private insurance card and said, "my insurance will take care of it, would that be quicker?" One look and the receptionist said "yep, ok then we'll have it to you in 2 days"

Thanks for reassurance that I didn't OD Q

50ftQueenie · 08/03/2010 15:38

Star - The doses recommended on Calpol are REALLY low just to make sure that it is practically impossible to overdose them on it. I think you'd need to give him a whole bottle to do any damage! As Pepper said, not give it another thought. He is fine.

Pepper - You try not to worry either. At least you'll have an idea quickly. Keep pestering the sonographer. I always do and crane your neck round so you can see what's going on. They 'love' that, but you get an idea of what's going on quicker that way.

Myjob - Don't hit me for being a hypocrite but..... it is received wisdom that you should never eat less than 1200. I have worked out your Basal Metabolic rate (the amount of calories you burn just being alive so if you just stayed in bed all day you would burn....) 1324. You need to add on about 25% of this for just walking around, sitting down, digesting food etc which would take you to 1,655. You would also need to add any walking you did during your day, so if you went for a walk out to take DS to pre-school that would be additional calories burned. So, 1000 cals a day is much less than 500 cals under your requirement. But I know you won't listen to me young lady. Oh and yes, I plan to eat fish this week and then try vegetarianism starting next week! Eeeek!

pepperrabbit · 08/03/2010 15:49

myjob - you can't argue with science - and really can't argue with 50ft!
a friend of mine's parents went on the Tesco diet that you monitor online and when he went to stay he said he took loads of snacks cos everyone was going to eat the same stuff and he thought he'd be starving but actually he said he had never eaten so much in his life!
i like to think I have a small irrelevant anecdote for every occasion!

pepperrabbit · 08/03/2010 15:50

his parents lost about 3 stone between them btw.
