Good luck for tomorrow pepper.
You think that you're confused about the real nappies - my head is like this . I am utterly bewildered about all the different types and what I need to put over what, and that's just for the wee notions brand, let alone considering any others. Can any of you make sense of, for example this (don't scroll down if you don't want to fall in love with some of the designs!). Do you have this pretty outer than you then have to put a waterproof wrap over the top of? Surely that wouldn't make sense .

Have realised that the other 2 odd ones that I have are a pink fuzzi bunz and a brown berry plush btw. Must try to find the berry plush and see how it fits - I think it's probably a large one.

Just going to reply to CSWS's nappy talk as I'm all excited then I'll go back and read! Right, WN, I have a few. They are a bit of a bugger to get a good fit with. Myjob has a bit of trouble getting a good fit on N because of N's shape. They fit M fine, both types. The fabric you like, the fish one, is only available as a boarder cut because cotton will wick in a pocket or AI2. I have a WN with fishy fabric! Cushie Tushies - I had five, but I have just sold them as I am getting more fitteds for the day as I love fitteds with wool. I wasn't too keen on them as I found they took ages to dry and weren't fabulously absorbent. Have a look at Cheeks and Cherries. They have Bambootys which are really slim, really cute and were too big for M.
There are lots of different discounts about at the moment. Some people are offering larger discounts on specific brands (I've seen up to 20% off but can't remember who/where) or giving free delivery, gifts, competitions etc....

50ftQueenie · 27/04/2010 20:39

CSWS - It's like having beautiful expensive underwear CSWS. Nobody sees it but it makes you smile just knowing it's there..... I use wool over fitted nappies which is just as beautiful.

CantSleepWontSleep · 27/04/2010 20:42

So you really do put a boring wrap over the top. Oh I'm all disappointed now. I never bothered with fancy pants if i didn't think that someone was going to see them.

What's a border cut? Are you saying that you actually have the nappy that I want, in that fish thing?

Pepper! Oi! MY hernia is called Jeff and is MUCH bigger than yours. Mine can be big Jeff, yours small Jeff and Star's brain tumour can be non-existent Jeff. Good luck tomorrow. And have no fear.... I am the same with my MIL. It actually makes me feel a bit ill when she asks how things went. I make sure DH doesn't tell her about stuff. The idea that she might actually hug me.....

Poor Q Star. I know others have said the same but it is good for them to get it out of the way when they are young. Poor little (veggie) sausage. He's been a poorly boy lately hasn't he? Hope the summer brings a good stretch of wellness for him!

50ftQueenie · 27/04/2010 20:53

Which style nappy do you want CSWS? And you don't have to have a boring wrap! You can have an embroidered fancy wrap on top and the wool isn't boring..... Look at this... Obviously not on D but you can get boy's scrappy shorts.....

CantSleepWontSleep · 27/04/2010 21:00

I don't bloody know 50ft! I just wanted something that was all in one so that I didn't have all these complicated decisions to make! I have just looked at the wraps on WN and it seems that they can make a wrap with any of the fabrics that I like on the outside, which makes more sense. But it seems to be about £13 just for the wrap, and then another tenner or more for the nappy itself. Doesn't that make them horrendously expensive?! I'm sure that I didn't pay that much for the others that I have.

Weenotions are pricy if you go for all the embroidery etc. They are all custom made after all. Do you want to borrow my AI2 Weenotion? It's a rainbow one in girly colours but just for testing it will be ok. Look at Cheeks and Cherries. Pistachio is right though, toddler power wee will get soak a tight fitting pocket nappy very quickly. M does very small wees so I don't have to worry about it yet. The wraps you can air and use again if they are still clean so they last longer than a nappy would do.

aubergenie · 27/04/2010 21:10

Good luck tomorrow Pepper.

CSWS - What I found hard about real nappies was the choice. I ended up spending a fortune on various nappies that didn't fit him properly, so when I found the itti bittis worked for him I just bought a set.

Star - I hope Q's temp has come down now.

I feel drained. I'm on a mission to sort my class out. They are great kids but some are quite challenging and by the end of last term, various people who had taught them for different things were complaining about how difficult they were (they actually made one teacher cry ). They know I mean business but I have to be really on top of things and nip certain behaviour in the bud before it escalates. It's knackering!

CantSleepWontSleep · 27/04/2010 21:27

Just realised that cheeks and cherries is one of the websites that I've had open all afternoon! It says that fuzzi bunz are pocket nappies, so I'm going to have to check mine out now, as I didn't think that I had any pocket ones (again). I don't think that I'm going to make any decisions this week, so might have to forgo discounts. On the bright side, I've just discovered that it's £50 I can spend and not £40.
I might well want to borrow your AI2 if that's ok 50ft, but let me investigate a bit further before I say for sure. To get the wraps that I like I think I'd need either the night notions or the northern lights rather than the AI2. If i find that the fluffles that I already have fit him then I suppose I could just get the wraps to go over those - again will have to check what wraps I already have, but don't think I had many in a large size, and it would be nice to get some slightly slimmer nappies that the fluffles.
Drying not such an issue for me as they will all go in the tumble drier. I hated the bamboo ones if they hadn't been tumble dried.

At the moment ds doesn't do toddler power wees, as he drinks bugger all (refuses pretty much all drinks except his morning smoothie and odd sips of the crap that dh and I drink ), with my milk supply being so low. I expect he'll up it once I buy nappies though (or when the new baby arrives and I have gallons of milk again).

The night notions are HUGE! Hmmm.... I think we need to come for a visit and I can bring a whole load for testing purposes!

Ooh it's a bank holiday this weekend and our village festival. don't suppose you're free sun/mon?

OP posts:
50ftQueenie · 27/04/2010 21:34

Unfortunately not this week. I am NCTing on Sunday and DH is working on Monday. We are busy the 29th May but that's it I think until the middle of June.

CantSleepWontSleep · 27/04/2010 21:37

But does O still have footie this time of year?

OP posts:
50ftQueenie · 27/04/2010 21:38

He has practice but no matches so missing football is not an issue.

CantSleepWontSleep · 27/04/2010 22:03

We are free 22nd/23rd May, or during or weekend at end of half term. Any good?

OP posts:
50ftQueenie · 27/04/2010 22:13

Ummm.... When is half term? Is it w/c 31st May?

CantSleepWontSleep · 27/04/2010 22:25

Yup.

OP posts:
50ftQueenie · 27/04/2010 22:36

DH will have to check his diary but that would be doable. He has one day of holiday unallocated to take so could do Friday/Saturday.....

ronshar · 27/04/2010 22:43

I have the solution to all your problems CSWS. Its called disposables and toilet training. Little boy pants are a whole load more cute than nappies

I did laugh when I tried to think where you were going to find the time to wash nappies, as well as clothes, as well as everyone else's clothes, as well as the school run twice a day, as well as cooking dinner, as well as breast feeding two children, as well as doing P reading every night after school.

If you can cope with all that then bloody well done to you

Three children, a whole new world!

CantSleepWontSleep · 27/04/2010 22:52

la la la, I'm not listening.

We were quite literally up all night. Q kept getting out and wanting to eat (he hadn't eaten much yesterday). He would flail and cry and rub his scalp ferociously then throw himself around some more, rub and rub and rub at the eye with the pox in the corner of it. He FINALLY slept 2 hours when I forced the anti itch medicine down (can't remember the name at this point - p something).

He is now rubbing his eyes, but doesn't seem in the least bit sleepy! I am exhausted!!!!! I NEVER thought I would say this but is there ANYTHING I can give him to make him really really sleepy tonight????? Don't call SS, I just can't bear being up another 24 hours. Hopefully he'll at least take his nap today.

I'm taking him out now to get more bicarb of soda and the charity shop around the corner had a toy hoover in the window the other day so going to see if it's still there. ughhhhhh

CantSleepWontSleep · 28/04/2010 08:50

Piriton is supposed to cause drowsiness iirc.

I just asked chemist if I could please have something to make him sleep tonight.
She said no.
