Are you peering under the outfit? I was wondering too...

Guimauve · 08/01/2010 20:00

I was peering over my imaginary spectacles in an appraising kind of way, but heck, I'll have a peek under the outfit too. It is Friday night after all

Turtle, are you who I think you are?

Bicnod, he was saying how hard it must be to ride them, and wondering whether children had them and whether they had stabilisers or not...

He seems much better; we have taken down the Christmas tree decorations which I had not managed to deal with, and he has gone to bed. DH was meant to be buying a nightlight thing in his lunch break as we need to deal with the awful nightmares. The poor boy is getting ill really often and I think part of it is exhaustion due to the long school days and a lack of sleep at night.

Gui, that must be a very tough job to do.

Fei, I'd give it a try if you want to. I don't know how H reacts to things, but you won't know unless you test it. DS1 was the most awful velcro baby ever. A is utterly different. We arrived at FIL's flat on the 31st, stayed for 20 mins and his lovely partner said she'd look after the boys so we could go out for a wander around town. We stayed out 2hours, and A smiled and babbled and giggled through play, supper and bath.

A tough job indeed. I couldn't do it. Or the child protection part. I reckon I could work for the dog unit. Or firearms!

At Christmas, whenever I left the room or handed Hazel to my mum, she started sobbing - real tears, sounded really scared I think my gut feel says no when I think about it....

dawntigga · 08/01/2010 20:15

But dp's a bit uniformed, how could she chase anyone off the site????

Bebe if all else fails you could try this

AuldAlliance · 08/01/2010 20:17

Tigga, I think DH has a Ducati ST 900. From ovehearing panic-stricken calls to police today.

That mask is foul.

Fei, if it's going to bother and make you feel awful, and if you don't have to go to work, then i would wait a bit.

bebemoohatessnot · 08/01/2010 20:33

tigga you make me laugh; that's far too S&M for my baby thank you very much...or did you mean use it on my DH until he behaves?

bebemoohatessnot · 08/01/2010 20:44

So I'll walk to the store (we're ice bound being at the bottom of a hill) tomorrow and get some of Metanium and some cotton. I'll look for oversized squares as suggested. I've used lots of other brands of gentle wipes, but there's not much difference that I've noticed between them (so I've been going cheapest). In the states Fei (at least growing up) we used wash cloths too. I started with the cloths but found them way too rough, not sure if I can find even softer ones which would be better I have been keeping my eye out because I feel reusing things is better.

TwilightTurtle · 08/01/2010 20:44

Yes, sorry, it's me WFHIT in a new shell

News on mum not too good, will post more in a bit.

bebemoohatessnot · 08/01/2010 20:52

Auld the liniment sounds nice, especially the idea of adding lavender or maybe a little tea tree to make them anti-sceptic. But I really don't know where I'd get calcium hydroxide if my translation of eau de chaux is correct... maybe just plain talc powder?

TwilightTurtle · 08/01/2010 21:05

Hello again

Had to phone sister in France, hence long pause

So MRI has shown a lump, almost certainly cancer

Good news is it's very small

They're assessing her for surgery - hope she's a good candidate, as otherwise it's chemo

She'll have a bile duct bypass (keyhole surgery) on Wed to relieve the jaundice and other symptoms. Not sure when surgery would be scheduled if she's a good candidate.

Have to tell my dad but can't get hold of him right now.

Might have a large whisky.

bebemoohatessnot · 08/01/2010 21:14

Oh Twilight!
Hopefully she is a good candidate and that it can be got at quickly. I have another friend who actually is going through the same thing with her mom.
All our best wishes from the bebe household.

TwilightTurtle · 08/01/2010 21:33

Gui get your pervy eyes out from under my shell

We Turtles are shy

And also go commando

TwilightTurtle · 08/01/2010 21:34

Thanks bebe x

Guimauve · 08/01/2010 21:40

She is pretty fit and healthy for her age, isn't she? That should make her a good candidate for surgery. I would think all decisions re: timing of surgery/ radiotherapy/ chemo will depend upon exactly what type of cancer it turns out to be once they've had a chance to look.
My thoughts are with you and your family WFH (((()))) Definitely have that large whisky.

kingbeat23 · 08/01/2010 21:50

oh no twi.....((((((()))))) for you

TwilightTurtle · 08/01/2010 22:20

Yes I think she's in ok shape - she cycles and walks a lot. I think it's not just down to her physical condition though, it's also to do with where the lump is and also whether there's enough blood vessels to supply the liver once they've cut out the bit with the lump in it.

But we don't really know anything until they've done their tests, it's all one step at a time stuff really.

Still haven't heard from my dad

gingersarah · 08/01/2010 22:59

All best to you and your mother, twilight turtle.

dawntigga · 09/01/2010 08:11

twi/wfh (((((((((()))))))))) Good news even if she needs chemo is there are different ways of going about it these days and some ways are a lot less rough than others! Keeping fingers crossed for you lovey.

Bicnod · 09/01/2010 08:29

Oh WFH/TT, I don't know what to say how is your mum bearing up? I bet she's doing a good job of a stiff upper lip from what you've said about her. Try to stay positive lovely, I know it's hard but lots of people get better from cancer and if they've caught it early there's no reason why she shouldn't be one of them. Sending huge hugs x x x

Fei - maybe we should go swimming together once the snow has disappeared... between two of us surely we could manage three? Does F use armbands yet or have a floatsuit thingy? I can relate to the separation anxiety thing - O is going through it badly at the moment what have you decided to do about work next week? I'd go with your gut feeling whatever that is - you know what she will be able to cope with.

Auld your DS sounds lovely

AuldAlliance · 09/01/2010 08:30

Fingers crossed, TT.

It is snowing in Provence. Really and properly. Looks lovely. Mayhem will of course ensue, and DH prob won't get to work on Mon if it lasts, and he had a little run-in with his boss on Fri, so he may well get the sack if he doesn't go in on Mon.
Hey-ho.

DH has taken A and DS1 to doctors. I should be working.

BoffinMum · 09/01/2010 08:55

WFH, sorry to hear about your mum and I hope she gets through any treatment without too much discomfort.

Auld, I am not entirely convinced I will make it to Paris next week and I think it would be a bit mad to try to meet up giving prevailing weather conditions and potential chaos.
