Yay WFH so glad your mum is improving - have they given any indication when they might do the op? Fab that you're in the new house as well, I bet DS1 has been loving watching telly for a few days - don't feel bad about that.

Fei - go Hazel! That's fantastic - is this really the same baby who was on totally smooth stuff a couple of weeks ago? What a little star

MrsG - you poor thing croup sounds terrifying, and at the doctor for saying you were panicking. I hate it when they are so patronising.

Aoifesmama - how was sleep last night?

Bebe - how are things with you?

Boff - hello you long lost soul LOL at Felix posting teddies onto you through the cot bars - I've got a fabulous image of that little scene in my head now . I too have been known to use a dose of medised when O is teething, snotty and hasn't slept more than 2 hours in a row for 5 or 6 nights.

Its only bloody snowing here. Brrrrrrrrr. We've had a busy day already - went to the London aquarium with O and a friend this morning (he loved it, especially the sharks), out for lunch then train home. O fell asleep in buggy, transferred to cot and is currently somehow sleeping through the builders banging next door. Quite why they are still banging next to his head is beyond me. They've been banging right there for weeks so not sure how much more banging they need to do in that one place.

ZuluWarrior · 08/02/2010 15:21

Hola

Have just had a meltdown about my spare tyre and have marched up our local hill with BW in the backpack and 2 dogs (who carried themselves). Am now starving and have stuffed myself, thus defeating the purpose. And I have windburn.

BoffinMum · 08/02/2010 15:24

PMSL Zulu!!

Feierabend · 08/02/2010 20:31

Bicnod bang back

Oscar is such a boy, loving the sharks I still haven't taken my girls to the aquarium although DH and I are always talking about it.

Zulu LOL

Bebe you okay?

Off for another early night...

aoifesmama · 08/02/2010 21:03

Lol Zulu. I had a terrible experience just after having Aoife as in a couple of weeks I was into a size 10 (smaller than I was before). Everyone oohed and aaahed and congratulated me, but actually it was just because I worked up until the day I had her and was constantly moving around. Hence I have steadily been putting on weight and so now weigh (quite a lot!) more than just after having her I'm determined to start a diet for Lent!!

MrsG - doctors are sometimes horrible! On Christmas Day A had an ear infection and a temp of 104 - the on call GP told me on the phone I must be lying as a temp that high was very serious We took her to A+E where her temp was 39.9 and they were great. Baa to horrible doctors!

Sleep still not great. She slept until 1am, then demanded to get up and in with us, which I gave in to after 45 mins of yelping and she snuggled down and went straight to sleep. Slightly dreading next week when I need to get things sorted out whilst I'm off work any advice appreciated!

mrsgboring · 08/02/2010 22:43

Hullo all

Am breaking off from having tantrums about the laundry. Why am I such a terrible housewife?

Fei apparently E is not bad enough for steroids Why do these things always happen at the weekend when I can't get hold of my lovely GP who is never mean with his drugs? E is a little better today so we may be toughing it out after all. Otherwise it's carve out more time to attend doctors and get further behind with the ongoing domestic catastrophe...

aoifesmama that's horrible about the on call dr at Xmas. Re sleep, I am the last person to ask since my DSs are both horrible sleepers but actually we found co-sleeping worked well for us - once we are in bed asleep it doesn't really bother us and it's a very handy thing to be able to do when travelling (friends who put their kids down awake have nightmare horrors in hotel rooms whereas we've been able to take our DS1 everywhere - boats, sleeper trains etc. with barely a second thought)

Zulu I am very thick - I thought I'd missed a post about car problems and imagined you'd yomped off the garage to complain about something to do with an actual spare tyre.

I'm pretty sure none of you are as fat as me

ZuluWarrior · 09/02/2010 08:19

Morning all. The sun is shining here and a man just came and fixed DH's chipped windscreen for free - yay!

Feiera did your early night get you a decent amount of sleep?

a'smama - some doctors can be utter arseholes. I think there is a deep-rooted superiority complex going on there. I know of one medical school who tells their new intake every year that they are the "creme de la creme" . In (very slight) defence of them though, there are a few time-wasters out there. Although you very definitely were not one of those

Mrsg how is E? And lol about you thinking I had car trouble!

I went to see It's Complicated at the pictures last night. It was very, very good. Although alarmingly I now fancy Steve Martin .

Guimauve · 09/02/2010 09:06

Hello all! Sorry for being a touch AWOL. I too have not felt that I have had anything interesting or useful to say. Back to work 3 weeks today and I am +++ about it.

I now have two interesting things to say:

a) For BA spotters, this little pearl - "IME, children just love the kind of holiday where they can hang out in a Greek village playing backgammon under a shady tree"

b) At the weekend we visited some friends and I got a lovely cuddle with their 3/52 teeny tiny baby. Baby's grandma, close family friend of DH, is a midwife (she gave us the birthing pool and all accoutrements for our planned HB - ha!) and she got her scales out so we could weigh H (not been to HV since beginning of Oct - ha! again) and he is now above the 50th centile
I now plan to try and get him up to 99th so that I can return to the HV and wait for them to say I'm overfeeding him .
(This has opened up a whole bag of issues about bfing a future dc, but I'll endeavour to worry about that if and when).

Apart from that, not much other news. Backwards crawling progressing well, but still no sign of having any forwards gears.

Surprise - sorry I was not around for your hyperthyroid chat, but I have nothing useful to add I'm afraid. How goes the weaning from the breast?

WFH - I am at the speed with which you have moved house. Very impressive. Surely it was only last week that you viewed the house? Glad to hear your Mum is doing better.

MrsG - poor E and his croup - how's he doing now?

Fei - has H had any further bouts of croup?

Welcome to SardineJam, and welcome back to Aoifesmama!

Bicnod - I love your gorgeous FB picture with O - did you go and have some professional photos or was that taken by a skilled DH/ friend?

Sorry for poor catch-up. Will go back and read further.

ZuluWarrior · 09/02/2010 09:11

Hey Gui! Nice to see you.

Don't worry about work. You'll be fine. You're doing your very best for (not so) little H and you will be amazed how the sky doesn't fall down on him when you're not there to hold it up. And the cuddle you get when you get home will make you feel 100% better .

Feierabend · 09/02/2010 09:22

Nom nom thanks Gui, have you been baking? Well done on the 50th centile, all that black pudding eh? Don't worry about work, you'll be fine and H will too.

MrsG how is E today? Did you all get some sleep last night? I could have a massive rant about the NHS here, but I won't just want to say that surely if you're worried enough to contemplate calling 999, he must have been bad enough to warrant a dose of steroids. Nasty doctors.

Autoglass, Zulu? The company with the most annoying radio ad ever? Yes thanks did get enough sleep. I am a big fan of 9pm bedtimes for myself!

Wriggly, if you're around, are we still on for Friday and what time would you like us there?

Guimauve · 09/02/2010 09:31

Thanks Zulu and Fei. I'm sure everything will be fine ultimately, but am fully prepared to have a couple of really shitty weeks. I just hope they have some magical methods of getting him to sleep, because unless they are either prepared to carry him around sleeping in a sling or one of the staff happens to be lactating, that is going to be a major lifestyle change for him!

Self-indulgent pfb moment - it is just not bloody fair that I will have miss soooo much of him growing up (though it's no different to DH, I suppose. Although DH will actually see a little more of him when H is at nursery!). Sob. Even your post about the sky not falling in had me in tears Zulu. I am going to be no use to anyone at all on my first day back at work. Notwithstanding the fact that I can't remember a single thing about my job. Sob sob stamp stamp sob.

Autoglass repair, Autoglass replace.

OP posts:
Bicnod · 09/02/2010 10:04

Gui, I'm going back start of May and already feeling upset about leaving O But I'm sure what the others have said is true, the sky won't fall down. I have a horrible nasty voice in my head telling me O will feel abandoned, that he'll resent me, that he'll grow up with ishoos. I know it's bollox but I can't quiet it and I don't think I'll be able to until I see him settled and happy with the CM. Who will be looking after H? Well done on 50th centile by the way that's fantastic . We've got O's 8 month check (at 9 1/2 months) on Thurs - really hoping he's evened out a bit or I'll be in trouble with my HV. It's not like I've been doling out the biscuits but I'll never forget when she told me off when he reached the 99th centile and said I shouldn't feed on demand as milk was his answer to everything, I should simply take him for a walk instead - yeah, because that would calm a hungry baby screaming for booby!

Oh, and yes we got some professional pics done - GPs have been harking on about it since before Christmas so thought we'd better get some done in time FIL's birthday and mother's day (although MIL won't be getting any - she still hasn't been in touch since standing us up for Christmas lunch )

Fei - you should definitely take the girls, the aquarium is so much fun - and I'm sure F knows who Nemo is? They have Nemo there (complete with crowd of children round tank shouting Nemo Nemo Nemo)

Bicnod · 09/02/2010 10:06

Gui xposts

It's not fair I have a real fear that O will start calling the CM mummy as her two boys will be calling her mummy all day long

ZuluWarrior · 09/02/2010 12:38

Don't get me wrong, Gui and Bicnod - I blubbed the whole first week I went back to work, particularly after watching a David Attenborough programme full of mothers protecting their young. But slowly, slowly it will get easier as you see your wee ones a)don't perish, b) might actually be happy at the CM/nursery and c) continue to be normal, well adjusted babies. Plus, you savour every single second you are with them. I'm not saying I like leaving my baby, but it does get easier, I promise .

(and you get to sit down and drink a cup of tea in peace)

bebemoohatessnot · 09/02/2010 16:23

Meg loved aquarium when we went (Hi)

bebemoohatessnot · 09/02/2010 16:27

Things busy. getting ready to go to Helsinki this w/e. have tickets home in a months time too. (dh not coming)

Doc says iron ok(ish) 13.9 but on repeat script for tablets. He says no need to come in for blood test for 5months! says I probably have non-discript virus making me feel tired and sickly. sigh

Feierabend · 09/02/2010 19:25

Wow Bebe so you are going without Moo? It does sound like a fab weekend away and I hope you'll enjoy it! You might feel better afterwards just for having had a break.

bebemoohatessnot · 09/02/2010 20:28

No, going with Moo too

aoifesmama · 09/02/2010 20:52

Gui and Bicnod just to say I went back in December and although I was dreading it, its been much much better than I thought - except for being extra tired as no daytime naps!!! I do miss A lots and call for lots of chats (I am lucky as Sis-IL who had a baby a few days later is looking after her), but I've realised I love being a mummy more when I'm with her now than when I was on maternity leave. AND that I'm not a slave to the house, which is how I felt when I was home all day and DH was at work - even though he was very good at still doing housework etc.

There will be difficult days, but on the whole it is working for us at the mo x

dawntigga · 10/02/2010 07:59

Waves, MIA because we have snot - again. We had 3 whole days snot free though so musn't grumble!

When I go back it will be for 2 days a week max as I'm not sure I can cope with being away from him for anymore time than that.

Waves to Gui.

Nutty, Nutty show us yer post, show us yer post, show us yer post. Nutty, Nutty show us yer post, we miss you very much.

TheSnotIsMakingMeDeliriousTiggaxx

WrigglyGiggly · 10/02/2010 08:26

3 days snot free~? . I cannot imagine a world without snot. This season I am mosty accessorising with snot smears on my left shoulder.

great to see Gui

v glad to hear bebe has some fun planned.

Hope WFHs house move going smoothly. Very impressed at overall speed and efficiency. We still haven't fully unpacked. I haven't seen my hairdryer in 2.5 years now .

Fei yes def still on for lunch Friday. Any time after mid-day.

Off to supermarket this avo. Can't think what I am going to make. No eggs right? Any other dietary no-nos?

I'll text you my address too.

WrigglyGiggly · 10/02/2010 08:32

Auld - a few days ago you posted about difficulty with brushing A's teeth. What are you using?

I've got a little rubbery thing with soft rubbery bristles that you put over your finger . S only has 6 teeth at the mo, but when he has a few more I will graduate onto a little rubbery thing shaped sort of like a gum shield that they bite into with bristles inside(to get around the back teeth). If you want me to post anything like that over to you let me know. I don't know what is available in France.

Took both my kids to the dentist a couple of weeks ago and got a thumbs up so something must be working.

Feierabend · 10/02/2010 08:58

Wriggly, can I bring anything? I could make an egg-free cake (nicer than it sounds, promised). The DDs and I can't have nuts, except almonds and pine nuts. But H will have her lunch before we come anyway and DD1 eats everything, really.

H thinks the computer is a new toy so she keeps pressing the wrong buttons. Very annoying.

bebemoohatessnot · 10/02/2010 09:25

Hi

Feierabend · 10/02/2010 09:32

Morning Bebe
