PR I would think. I don't move in those circles.

Bit cheeky no?

aoifesmama · 11/02/2010 19:36

I know I'm late, but Bicnod...I bow down to you. Could you now come and deal with A?!

Bicnod · 11/02/2010 20:08

I don't think it's going to last sadly - just had to settle him for the first time tonight.

Boff LOL at wet haddock

Auld - stick with it. I never believed O would settle without being picked up but he does about 50% of the time now.

Fei - I always bid at the last minute on ebay. You're very likely to sell it if you have watchers.

Off to watch another episode of 24. I'm so addicted.

By the way I've been inspired by talk of crumble - off to have rhubarb and custard. Yum.

Bicnod · 11/02/2010 20:09

Puzzle - what did you do about ZG?

WrigglyGiggly · 11/02/2010 20:17

Ha - DH is on Zac's email list somehow but yet to get FBd by him.

It will be PR I should think (not that I'm suggesting that MP-Wannabe-and-Shameless-Self-Publicist-Zac-Goldsmith doesn't personally want the very marvellous not to mention On-The-Electoral-Roll-Puzzle on his friends list)

Auld I would very, very much love to get back up to Scotland. I used to get up there at least once a year but haven't been once since having kids. These days I read Alexander McCall Smith to get my Edinburgh fix.

It could actually be possibly by April as our car is soon to be scrunched up into a cube to be replaced by something a little less leaky, mildewy, rusty and all-round roadworthy so we are thinking of maybe doing a family road trip to introduce the Wrigglies to Scotland.

As for Boff - well 8 degrees and what does she know!?

WrigglyGiggly · 11/02/2010 20:21

So both kids asleep, DH larging it up at leaving drinks working late.

Should Mrs Wriggly:
a) get on with some cleaning, laundry, ironing
b) pour herself a drop of wine and potter around on MN.

Oh - OK there is an option C. - get that crumble made seeing as I am now firmly committed to it. But I could do that with a glass of wine and MN couldn't I?

PuzzleRocks · 11/02/2010 20:26

I just declined.

Although I wouldn't mind being Zac's chum if I got to nosey round his Mum's gaff.
I sigh every time I pass that place.

PuzzleRocks · 11/02/2010 20:26

Wine, wine!

PuzzleRocks · 11/02/2010 20:27

I wont hold it against you if the crumble doesn't materialise.

WrigglyGiggly · 11/02/2010 20:37

ooooh that house!

Last summer she opened her garden to the public so I went and had a good old nose.

(DD tore round the place like a child possessed and pulled the heads off half a dozen peonies and a few roses... )

WrigglyGiggly · 11/02/2010 20:40

Crumble is under way. Wine glass seems to be mysteriously emptying very quickly. As if by magic? .

Crumble will materialise, but it may be a wine sozzled disaster.

DH just rang to imply that he probably won't be back until really late.

PuzzleRocks · 11/02/2010 20:59

How on earth did I miss that opportunity? Bah.

No where near on the same scale but I also regret not taking up the offer to explore this place before it had to be sold.
It belonged to the father of a good friend of my Mum.
Incidentally the owner, Robert Harling, was a close friend of Ian Fleming and said to be the inspiration for James Bond.
He was also editor of Home and Garden for many years.

[wonders why I have suddenly started writing Nick's father's obit]

PuzzleRocks · 11/02/2010 20:59

Ooh hurrah for crumble.

PuzzleRocks · 11/02/2010 21:03

that's the link I wanted

Not acid Amanda's Telegraph piece.

BoffinMum · 11/02/2010 21:05

I now want a dressing table. Want, want, want.

PuzzleRocks · 11/02/2010 21:20

I have never actually met Amanda, there is no love lost between her and Nick, who I notice doesn't get a mention. But if he is to be believed, she is very much like that Boff.

ZuluWarrior · 11/02/2010 21:22

Puzzle t'was Dundee. I cannot speak for King's but I think all poncey, cocky medical students get a similar chat.

[sweeping statement emoticon]

WrigglyGiggly · 11/02/2010 21:27

Wow - what a place. Zac's mummy hasn't got a lake (swimming pool, yes. tennis court, yes. pet cemetary, yes. but no lake).

Dressing table Boff? You'll have to join my DD in the queue. She asked for a pink one dressing table just this avo (while decked out in a tutu, tiara, jeans and a rain coat).

WrigglyGiggly · 11/02/2010 21:35

Dundee Zulu? I think you'll find it that Edinburgh medical students are the creme de la creme. All the ones I knew were 100% certain of this diagnosis.

WrigglyGiggly · 11/02/2010 21:37

(Oh and 'pink one dressing table' wasn't the vino speaking. That is how DD speaks. As in 'I'm wearing mine pink one Princess Tutu')

PuzzleRocks · 11/02/2010 22:30

Pet cemetary? That's quite sweet but I just think Stephen King.

WrigglyGiggly · 11/02/2010 22:41

Yup I thought Stephen King too.

Anybody follow the Sarah Brown conversation?

mrsgboring · 12/02/2010 06:43

Random catchup while E frankly cries in his highchair

Wriggly that is hilarious about your library book. You should tell the librarians the truth. Unless they are very very sourfaced they'll help you.

Gui well done on 50th percentile. Re future breastfeeding, I know what you mean. My DS1 did just that and eventually moved to the 75th. I still BF Edmund and although we limped through with terrible weight gain and I introduced food on the dot of 17 weeks, it did work. DS1 has no ill effects and I hope E is okay with it too.

Auld lovely house

Bicnod very of sleep. Well done.

Puzzle first steps???

Edmund is much improved, thank goodness, though his chest still rattles like a goodun. His ears are full of snot, which wasn't great for his distraction hearing test. He failed He could just have ears full of snot (and he was falling asleep by the end of the test having refused his morning nap), but he could have a low frequency hearing loss. Get tested again in 3 months, and in the meantime DH obsessively playing low notes on the piano while he isn't looking to see if he looks round.

Off to Brussels at the weekend. Am a bit scared about it all

Right must deal with complaining baby before DH calls SS

AuldAlliance · 12/02/2010 08:00

hello, mrsgboring!!

(I don't know who Zac is; should I be worried that he doesn't want to be friends with me?

Bad night here: well, actually, he slept from 7:30 to 3:45, which could be viewed as not bad. But then he couldn't get back to sleep as his teeth were bugging him (I think) and his nose a bit runny (note to self: check cardigan for snot trails before going into the classroom in half an hour). So he wriggled and cried till 5, when his cries became indicative of hunger. We then slept till 6:30.
Yawn.

DS1 is stuck in Toulouse, where a whopping 2-4cm of snow has brought traffic to a standstill.
FIL is adamant I should not undertake the journey with A, saying he will bring him back by train.

Am hoping to go tomorrow, though, when the snow melts. TBH, sad as it sounds, a couple of days in lovely Toulouse with FIL and his nice partner, possibly offering to have the boys for an hour while I go into town alone and unfettered, and some adult conversation over an evening meal rather than another solitary session alone, well that was going to be my holiday.

AuldAlliance · 12/02/2010 08:01

gah, I always forget to close my brackets.
(oo-er, where is Nutty??????)
