Surprise - You poor thing. I hope the medication gives you the necessary relief.
Have you tried starting a thread about weaning Evie?
Just a thought but have you looked at Hales? here There may be a medication you can take that wont affect breastfeeding.
Sometimes GP's are not aware of this. Apologies if i'm talking bollocks though.

Holly says Mama, Baba (DH) and OmNom (for such a skinny little monkey she eats like a piglet). She also makes the milk sign.

Fei - I have put Ellen's name down but I have still to check out a class. She will start in April.

Bicnod - That's what I thought.

Carbimazole -Minor adverse effects may be anticipated on theoreticalgrounds.

Propylthiouracil - Minor adverse effects may be anticipated on theoretical grounds.
preferable to
carbimazole

Thyroxine- I think is for t'other type of thyrodism

she may be on to something

Feierabend · 03/02/2010 19:22

Yep thyroxine is for underactive thyroid, which is what I have. Surprise hope you can find something suitable, a week is not much to get a boob addict off the breast.

surprisenumber3 · 03/02/2010 19:23

thanks Bronze, they said that if I want to take the meds while BF then Evie will have to have blood tests to check she isn't developing underactive thyroid and I can't put her through that. It was Carbimazole I took last time.

I have lost a stone since Christmas even though I'm eating so so much. But what bothers me the most is the insomia, rapid heart beat and nightsweats. Also the shortness of breath while carrying Evie is terrifying, so I know I do need to take the meds soon

Puzzle - thank you, I will look at Hales

Well Evie is bathed, and in her cot. She wouldn't touch the bottle. DH not home yet so DS1 has tried with her and she doesn't want to know. She is screaming in her cot again. I have been in once to say shhh...go to sleep and its been another 5 mins now. This is horrible!!

surprisenumber3 · 03/02/2010 19:40

she has gone to sleep without any form of milk. I went in and she was feebly crying and on all fours. When she saw me she put her head down and whimpered and drifted off to sleep..then I nearly cried

getOVERyourself · 03/02/2010 19:47

surprise two ideas for you - will she take ebm in a bottle? if so, could you mix it with formula and gradually make it less ebm and more formula?

or if she won't countenance the bottle at all, try feeding her one side on the boob and then offering her the bottle so she's not starving - she might be less agitated and more likely to give it a try? Then you could gradually shorten the bf every night until it's gone completely.

sorry you're having such a nightmare, I would have wept too. She'll forget all about it, don't worry.

Feierabend · 03/02/2010 20:13

Surprise I nearly cried there poor poor you. Can you try to get her used to the bottle during the day first? You won't want to replace all breast feeds by a bottle straight away anyway or your boobs will become really painful. If I remember correctly, you've tried various types of bottle. Hazel wouldn't take any milk from a NUK but was happy drinking from an Avent, and a friend of mine got her baby onto the MAM bottles as she wouldn't have any other shapes either. Fingers crossed this time next week it will all be sorted x

Bicnod · 03/02/2010 20:17

Oh surprise you poor poor thing really hope some of these suggestions work for you and Evie. So sorry you are having to deal with this

Bicnod · 03/02/2010 20:19

TMI alert

I've just started my first postnatal period - is it going to be awful?

surprisenumber3 · 03/02/2010 21:33

My first couple were heavier and more painful but not too bad. Lucky you only just getting them back! I had one in July and then none til November.

Well Evie woke up about an hour later and I fed her a big feed and she looked a lot happier and went straight back to sleep At least we have managed a day with no daytime feeds!

Yes, have tried all the bottles/teats. The only one she will have a few sips out of is the Tommee Tippee Closure to Nature ones. The breast feeding advisor advised the NUK latex ones but she really didn't like those! She really is a fussy little madam!!

Well I am going to go to bed now, haven't been before midnight in ages because I know I won't sleep with the insomnia but I am so tired tonight I think I will sleep!

Night all, thanks for your support today I hope to log back on tomorrow and catch up on how you all are x

bronze · 03/02/2010 22:13

I'm glad she seemed happier. I too could have cried reading your first post. I'm feeling a bit emotional today anyway. DH has quit smoking (yay) and I've taken a bit of a battering (emotional not physical) just be pleased when the worst of the grouchiness wears off.

WrigglyGiggly · 04/02/2010 08:14

Oh surprise! Hope you are ok today?

Both my babies have been boob monsters but S will now take a bottle after breakfast and after lunch - ie when he's not actually very hungry!?

He will never take a bottle at bedtime though.

I've also tried loads of different bottles and teats and hid favourite is Boots own brand. DD was (and still is, given half a chance) an Avent girl.

I think very well worth exploring meds that can be used when bf perhaps in conjunction with reducing the number of bm feeds to dilute the amount of meds she gets? - where is Gui when we need to talk drugs?

Gui???

A week is a very short time to wean in, but of course in an emergency can be done. A friend of mine had a particularly nasty ruptured appendix when her purely bf baby was not quite 5 months old. Baby had to be shifted straight onto a bottle with no niceties of gradual weaning.

WrigglyGiggly · 04/02/2010 08:16

Bicnod best of luck with AF. I've just worked out I have had only one period since June 06.

WrigglyGiggly · 04/02/2010 08:17

Oh and my baby says 'Bah'. That's it. [proud mum emoticon]

PuzzleRocks · 04/02/2010 08:52

Good morning

Surprise - I hope you had a good night sweetheart. x

Wriggly - I went to bed at 9 last night. Aside from the sore throat I have this morning, it has already made a difference. That's it now, Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday are 9pm nights. Tuesday is Shameless at 10pm.

WrigglyGiggly · 04/02/2010 09:16

It does help doesn't it. Even if you only do it once or twice a week.

Tuesday used to be our late night too as it was Chuck night. Until series two finished. Then we got the entire of series one and two out from Love Film [geek emoticon].

Spoke to the Baby Ballet teacher yesterday. Are you aiming for Thursdays? I can't do Mondays.

WrigglyGiggly · 04/02/2010 09:19

Oh for clarification for rest of thread ballet is for our DD1s.

S may wear rosebud print pyjamas from time to time, but I'm not signing him up for ballet. Yet.....

PuzzleRocks · 04/02/2010 09:28

Yes Thursday would suit me better.

dawntigga · 04/02/2010 09:53

Nutty Nutty where are you???????

Bicnod periods are ok but I have PMS like you wouldn't believe. I wanted to stab Robin in the eye because he put the milk back in the fridge the wrong way. Didn't - obv!

Surprise hugs

Robin is back to day hurrah! However, work called yesterday and I returned the call today. I am slightly fuming.

I have until mid-March to make a decision re going back to work and my line manager decided to apply some pressure today to let me know what I want to do. I told her in no uncertain terms that, right now, I intend to come back on reduced hours. She then went on about having to get that in writing, so I cut her off with the fact I already have the bloody letter from the gov website - she didn't even knew it existed. She then tried to pressure me in telling her when I'd be able to let her know what hours etc. I'd want to come back on. I told her that I'm contractually obliged to let her know 1 month before my return from mat leave date and as Robin doesn't know what is happening with work yet I can't tell her. She kept coming back to when will you be able to let me know. She then tried to tell me it's mid-April, it isn't it's mid-March. She hasn't got a fucking clue!!!!!
Then she started asking me about work stuff (erm, that'll be from 10 months ago!) I explained that the tapes were working fine (we send them off site to another location and they get posted back to us) when I went on Matt leave, in fact the only thing I remember from the Monday before my waters broke is getting the bag of tapes. My work colleagues have confused the dates it went to hell in a handcart and have told her it went wrong before I left. Like I'd have left that alone and not sorted it out?????

BoffinMum · 04/02/2010 12:11

OK, OK, OK, we are here ...

hospital has no bed for mum
They will eventually.

orbit has a temperature and waking all night
Ibuprofen 2.5ml

packers come tomorrow
Do not think about that right now. They are used to people expreriencing mayhem.

haven't packed overnight things yet
That will take all of 5 minutes if you put the bare minimum in there - alternatively just buy some stuff!

head about to explode
Ibuprofen 600mg (Max dose)
Cup of tea with a bit of sugar in it
Small square chocolate

orbit just woken from nap, must go
Perhaps have companiable bath together while you put off doing anything more productive? Good for harrassed ill people.

We are here xx

WrigglyGiggly · 04/02/2010 12:40

Oh Boffin - can I have you on speed dial next time my head is about to pop?

GetO hope you are ok. Deep breaths. It will all be ok. Is there anything you can delegate to help you get through it all?

Anyone available to either take O off your hands for a few hours while you get things done, or come and help you pack & sort.

Can your sister help look after your mum?

bebemoohatessnot · 04/02/2010 12:40

hi

WrigglyGiggly · 04/02/2010 12:43

Hi Bebe

You OK?

Feierabend · 04/02/2010 13:14

GetOver, it will all be fine. Promised. Deep breath. What's the most important thing to do?

Bebe you okay? Tell us what's going on in your life?

I've done my back in.
