Boff

Have rung mum, she has her friend round who is something important in the NHS. Important friend has emailed the CEO and Chair of the NHS Trust with her rather terse opinion on the state of affairs We're waiting to hear about a bed.

Orbit has had all the drugs in the house and some beans on toast. And a clean nappy after something dreadful happened in the last one

Have written sign for each room telling packers what not to pack. Will do overnight things in a minute, or this evening, while DP empties loft.

Head marginally less explosive. Have started to adopt zen attitude - it will all happen, so I might as well watch Desperate Housewives and have a cup of tea.

Could do with a bath - AF back again. I'm sure it hasn't been four weeks since the last one.

Feierabend · 04/02/2010 13:24

Hooray that sounds much better

Somebody is coming round to view our house on Saturday at 9am That's when I normally have my lie-in!

Bicnod · 04/02/2010 14:00

Phew. Glad things feel more under control now WFH - will be keeping fingers crossed for your mum's bed situation x x

Bebe - how are you doing?

Tigs - your manager sounds like an arse. Glad you are clued up enough (unlike me a few months ago!) to know what your rights are etc

Wriggly - I want O to be the new Billy Elliot. In fact I'm nurturing his feminine side by giving him pink cups to drink from and buying him a pink hat he loves it. he's such a beefcake he looks hilarious in pink. am i bad?

Really hope the builder on next door's roof doesn't slip - its raining, he's balanced precariously and no safety harness . Really hope he doesn't look this way and notice the state of my kitchen either

Fei - shall we get together again soon? O is a nicer baby now, I promise

Surprise - how are things going? Thinking about you and Evie lots today and hoping its a better day than yesterday x x

Oh god - this builder is seriously giving me the heebie geebies (what are they by the way?) please don't let him slip...

dawntigga · 04/02/2010 14:42

Bic my manager has zero people skills. Still will only be there for a few days per week and I can endure anything!

GetO/WFH I appear to have found a small chocolage brownie - it's yours, go on, take it

MyHeadALWAYSFeelsLikeIt'sGoingToExplodeGoddessHelpMeIfSomethingGoesWrongTiggaxx

getOVERyourself · 04/02/2010 15:51

Tigga thank you for chocolage brownie - very generous. It was yummy

So Mum has a bed! Yippee! Don't know if it would have happened anyway or if stern emails from Important People did the trick, but she's on her way in now.

Apparently the stern email included the words JUST HOW ILL DO YOU HAVE TO BE BEFORE YOU GET A BED????!!! written exactly like that...

I have packed overnight things for the boys, my jewellery, the delicate items from my drawers , done the washing, tickled Orbit quite a lot (he has very ticklish knees) and feel a lot better. Also watched Desperate Housewives, had a cup of tea and resolutely ignored the state of the kitchen.

So tonight, we have to empty the loft, pack our clothes for two days, pack food/kitchen things that we need tomorrow and on Saturday, and collapse. Packers come between 8 and 9am - gulp! Shall endeavour to be dressed.

Bicnod I think boys look fab in pink. Especially butch ones Orbit has a pair of girls leggings from Next - they're pale blue and aqua and I loved them and they were £2 in the sale, so he got them. He does look a bit like a kid from Fame in them though, especially with baby legs on as well.

Is your builder still on the roof? Dare you to flash him and see if he falls off

Have to go and pick up DS1 in a minute. Have tried talking to him about moving house and Mum being in hospital but on the whole he listens politely and then says 'Yes, but can I have a ?'

Clearly a MNetter in the making

Feierabend · 04/02/2010 16:14

My back hurts. I have tidied up , done the washing, the shopping, dropped the car off at the garage and then picked it up again (a 30 min walk with the buggy, each way). Now I am tired and I just want 10 minutes on Mumsnet and Hazel won't let me! Aaaargh.

surprisenumber3 · 04/02/2010 16:18

Hi all
Well....Evie woke at 1.10 when we tried and bottle to no avail (although she did happily go straight back to sleep in her cot after a quick BF), and then she woke at 4.45 and we again tried a bottle but she was so distraught, she just cuddle into my neck and fell back asleep. So I sat with her like that for ages feeling guilty Then she slept til 7.

I was so tired this morning so I pleaded with her to have a sleep and she let me sleep for two solid hours, was fantastic! I woke up before she did! I can't usually sleep in the day but I had taken Co-codamol for my neck/head/whole body pain and I totally zonked, felt like I'd slept for hours! She hasn't had a feed yet today but she is getting very anxious about it now, I can tell by her temperament.

WFH - so glad your mum has a bed, hope everything goes well x

bronze · 04/02/2010 16:45

Well I am sooo glad DH is away tonight. I can have an evening without his grumpiness but give him credit he is doing really well regarding not smoking, he even managed the gym.

GOY- why on earth did you change you name...all will be fine...you will be fine

WIll someone please come and at leats view our sodding house. I didn't do all this work getting it respectable for nothing and keeping it tidy is nigh on impossible yet I am doing it even though 4 can make mess faster than one can tidy so please just bloody buy it!

bebemoohatessnot · 04/02/2010 20:45

Struggling with things a bit, my energy levels are so low. Back to doctor on Monday. I've been eating red meat everyday and taking vitamin c, but still not great.
Sorry I cannot catch up with you all properly. Hopefully things will be better soon.
Hugs to everyone struggling too.

bebe have this large throbing sausage to fill your orifice. It's full of iron and zinc - honest

SomebodyHadToFillInForNuttyTiggaxx

getOVERyourself · 05/02/2010 08:25

tigga, let me know how you get on. we are still struggling with Orbit, who seems to have one excuse after another (teeth, cold, moving house) why he shouldn't just go to bed. We had our one week of success with PU/PD and then it all regressed.

Going offline at some point today to transfer broadband to new house, so hope you all have lovely Fridays! Packers coming in half an hour!

WrigglyGiggly · 05/02/2010 09:46

Oh best of luck Tigga. Let us know how you do with the sleep thing. For the life of me I cannot remember how I persuaded DD not to feed at night, but once S is in bed with us (usually by 4am at the very latest) he doesn't really stop truffling for booby.

And SniggaTigga @ sausage.

As for your boss, in a wierd way it may be easier to deal with her when you are actually back at work. At least that way people won't be able to reinvent history while you are out of the way.

Bebe it doesn't seem logical but IME I think that months 6-12 with babies are much harder work than months 0-6. You feel like things ought to be getting easier and yet they don't. Getting them to eat solids, cleaning up the mess, constantly being on guard for them cruising and crashing into things, aching back from carrying quite a heavy baby and bending over to help them 'walk' everywhere, still getting woken at night but now by a rather larger, louder and more insistent little person.

I felt a real 'lightness' and sense of relief with DD when she reached a year old. I guess partly to do with it being Spring time again but also she became better company. Her sleep improved, her eating improved we had fun together going for little walks and she started to communicate more and we could play games together. I felt that the months 12-18 with her were my reward for the tough winter months that preceded them.

Hang on in there. Not long till glorious '1'.

Feierabend · 05/02/2010 12:27

Aaah those first birthdays that we're so looking forward to! I'll be sad too though, because it will be the end of Hazel being a baby and I will never have a baby again (unless the pill fails me). She's hard work but also a lot of fun at the moment, having worked out how to pull herself up she now climbs into and onto everything, explores everywhere, and she's so proud of herself, it's so funny to watch. She's also suddenly quite keen on food, who would have thought, and shared some pizza with DD1 earlier.

Unfortunately DD1 has decided she doesn't like Hazel, or that's what she keeps telling me

Bebe poor you, I hope the doctor can find what's wrong with you.

Good luck to everyone with the sleep training. Just as I had decided to give up trying to eliminate the 5am feed, Hazel has done it herself and managed to last until 6am the last couple of nights.

By the way, does anyone know how to wean a toddler off thumb sucking? DD1 had her first ever dentist appointment today and the dentist said we'd better stop her sucking her thumb. But it's not like we can take it away from her!

bronze · 05/02/2010 12:38

I don't want Izy to be one. I want him to be my gorgeous laughing chubby baby forever (if he could sleep a bit more)

Bicnod · 05/02/2010 13:19

Bronze me too... little O's sleeping (or non-sleeping to be precise) habits are the only thing that stops me from wishing him a baby forever. He's so gorgeous and chubby and giggly and smily and kissable and squeezable and tickle-able and yummy.

BoffinMum · 05/02/2010 15:20

teething baby
no sleep all week (well woken up four nights out of five)
42 years old
too old for all this crap
eating rubbish at desk and too tired to go home
remind me why I am a parent?

dawntigga · 05/02/2010 16:30

BoffinMum cos you were carried away in the moment.

RemembersExactlyWhySheGotKnockedUpAndMayNeverForgiveJamieOliverTiggaxx

bronze · 05/02/2010 16:37

ok tiggs youre going to have to explain that one

I'm sure you were talking about another one Boff

Bicnod · 05/02/2010 17:11

Oscar just had his first dinner fed entirely by his own hand

Is it ok for a 9 month old baby to eat an entire big banana for pudding do you think???

Feierabend · 05/02/2010 17:29

Tigga what's Jamie Oliver got to do with it? Spill the borlotti beans!

My girls are giggling at each other... lovely.

Feierabend · 05/02/2010 17:30

Bicnod DD1 always had an entire banana. If it doesn't constipate him, no problem.

ZuluWarrior · 05/02/2010 20:24

Oh lordy

I've missed too much to catch up properly but lots of you are having a really hard time and I send hugs to you all.

Good luck for operations/moves/sleeping/feeding/teething/work/backs.

Does that cover it all?

3 busy days at work over - yay! Going to Scotland-France rugby on Sunday - double yay! And BW is going to my mum's for the day. Pint of lager, here we come

Feierabend · 05/02/2010 20:41

Zulu I have a pint every night wouldn't survive otherwise. Have fun tomorrow.

Feierabend · 05/02/2010 20:41

Sorry - on Sunday.
