Fab news GetO. Uniform shopping now, how exciting.

Wriggly - i'm just about to email you re ballet.

PuzzleRocks · 03/02/2010 12:48

Fei - My 16yr old niece asked me a few weeks ago if I bother celebrating my birthday "at your age".

surprisenumber3 · 03/02/2010 12:59

Hi all
sorry I havent been on for so long - so lovely laptop has died and so I have to trek upstairs and load up the big old PC and TBH I just never get round to it (wish I could get MN on my phone but don't seem to be able to??)

how is everyone? Pretty pretty please could someone tell me a condensed version of all the April mums news from the last couple of weeks?

I am so exhausted. I have been diagnosed with overactive thyroid and need to start taking meds but can't wean Evie off BF. She just screams and screams (4 hours the one night when I was being adament!). I just don't know what I can do and am majorly stressed out about it.

Developments here are that Evie finally has two teeth, she says car, ta, mummy, daddy, babba, kiss and clap! I don't think she'll be a crawler but she shuffles everywhere on her bum...are any of the babies walking yet?!

Can't believe they are 9/10 months already - wwhere does the time go?

hope to be more in touch soon, am going to leave the PC on today so I can come and catch up!

Feierabend · 03/02/2010 13:15

Oh, ballet? DD1 is starting in May but it's more fun and dressing up than a proper dance school. Are your girls going to go to the same class?

Surprise oh no, how annoying about the thyroid. Is Evie still not taking bottles? Or cups?

Bicnod · 03/02/2010 13:28

Hello lovelies

WFH - keeping everything crossed for your mum and thinking of you both x x Yay for school place by the way

Puzzle, what does Tigga know that we don't?!

Frogmella - you poor thing whereabouts are you? I agree with the others, forcing yourself to get out of the house is definitely the way forward - even if its just for a walk. Are there really no groups around your way? Most libraries have rhyme time or story time or something similar - do you have a library you can get to? Sending big hugs. Its hard enough with one it must be double trouble with two.

Surprise - E is a clever little thing isn't she? O can say dada and baba and that's it. He hasn't said mama yet He can clap hands and is getting the hang of waving hello and bye bye (but not consistently). He's starting to pull up on stuff and can stand holding on to chair but not crawling yet - I think he will, he's just taking his time (as usual!) Don't know what to suggest about the bf - that sounds really tough, especially with the thyroid issues. Is your DH pretty good at helping try to settle E at night? The only way we could stop bf O at night was for DH to do ALL the settling (lots and lots of singing, cuddling, rocking, whatever it took!) for 3 nights in a row, then he stopped expecting to be fed.

The Plan is still in motion, although he had to have a nap this morning as he woke up early early early and wouldn't go back to sleep. Long lunchtime nap in progress at the moment (45 mins and counting). He woke 3 times after bedtime, the latest one at 10.15pm-ish and then slept through until 4.40am! So that's progress. But he didn't properly go back to sleep after that and then did a huge poo at 6am. But I feel like we're getting somewhere and I knew it would take time. Patience patience and baby steps.

I like this face - I've never used it before

Feierabend · 03/02/2010 13:33

That confused face makes me feel queasy actually.

surprisenumber3 · 03/02/2010 13:41

Feira - no she's not, she will have a few sips of water from a sippy cup following her meals but that is it.

Bicnod - DH isn't the best at helping with this issue TBH. He is so tired that when she cries at night he just brings her in to me. Cue me screaming at him not to do that and it isn't going to help etc and he tries taking her back in her room but she is beside herself by then. So I end up letting her feed so as not to wake up the boys.

Honestly, I am SO stressed out with it. I will tell DH about your DH Bicnod and how that worked and see if he will give it a go x

Bicnod · 03/02/2010 14:00

Fei this is for you sorry couldn't resist

Surprise - I honestly think that getting DHs to do all the night settling for a few nights is the best way of stopping bf at night quickly. If you do the settling it will just remind E that boob is what she wants - she'll smell the milk and that'll be it. Poor you really hope things improve quickly x

surprisenumber3 · 03/02/2010 14:15

thank you x

I am going mad at the moment. Do any of you let your babies just cry?

Evie has had her lunch, I have offered her milk from a cup and bottle, she wouldn't take. She is really tired so I have just put her in her cot and closed the door. She is screaming. It has been over 5 mins now...what do I do?

surprisenumber3 · 03/02/2010 14:16

she never cries unless she wants feeding so I know I can always calm her down and think I have always been too quick to do so. I know if I went in their now and fed her she would be so happy and go straight to sleep but that's the wrong thing to do isn't it

BoffinMum · 03/02/2010 14:38

Felix did this over New Year. I just kept offering him formula until he gave in. Sometimes DH would do this. I also sometimes did ebm in a bottle to confuse him as well (Felix, not DH).

BoffinMum · 03/02/2010 14:40

BTW Felix can say Mamamama, Dadadadada, Ongar (Grandad), Teddy, Duck, Toy, Bottle, Googus (DS2), Bye Bye, Night Night.

surprisenumber3 · 03/02/2010 14:43

I have had to get her out of her cot as she was banging herself against it really hard and has somehow cut her chin! I have calmed her down from that and now I am just doing the housework, she is sitting in the same room as me but I am ignoring her cries and not talking to her. I just offer her the milk occasionally but she cries harder!

Got to go and pick DS1 up shortly so hopefully she will sleep in buggy.

surprisenumber3 · 03/02/2010 14:43

Felix is a little chatterer then

dawntigga · 03/02/2010 14:49

I meant Nutty - lets blame it on the lack of sleep eh?

BoffinMum · 03/02/2010 14:51

It is so nice and such a bonus to have a child who shows no sign of developmental delay (yet)!

Bicnod · 03/02/2010 14:52

Oh surprise you poor thing that sounds really hard. I don't know what to suggest I was gutted when O weaned himself off the boob but now I'm thinking I was actually bloody lucky as I didn't have to go through all this.

Hmmm. So my child can't crawl and he can only say dada and baba. Not the fastest of learners but I guess we'll keep him anyway, he's quite cute when he laughs

surprisenumber3 · 03/02/2010 14:57

DS1 had developmental delay but probably down to being prem. He walked at 16 months and couldn't really talk at 3 but by 4½ he had totally caught up. DS2 was a text book baby with everything. DD right now is just a pain in the butt, lol.

That is lucky Bicnod, both the boys were happy to be weaned off but it is going to be a big struggle with her.

She has been screaming for 40 mins now! She is screaming 'mummumumum, babababa' which means milk! I hate not giving in. Oh well, out for a walk in 5 mins!

getOVERyourself · 03/02/2010 15:31

Orbit still can't say anything except duh and thuh and guh! Clearly in the slow learner class, this one

surprisenumber3 · 03/02/2010 15:37

she is finally asleep in her buggy....

I have the grand total of 15 mins before I have to go out again and collect DS2 and friend from football. Think I'll walk in the rain, be easier than getting her in car!

SardineJam · 03/02/2010 15:50

Oh my word, cant believe how many of your little ones are saying words!!! Though, one Saturday we went on a minature train without dp and when we got off Nicholas saw him and said something that vaguely resembled "daddy", though we did pass it off as a coincidence

SardineJam · 03/02/2010 15:51

on Saturday

bronze · 03/02/2010 16:02

We have the Dadda coincidence too

Isaac crawls... sloooowly
He wont take a bottle but now drinks a few sips of water from an open cup after a meal.
He feeds loads still
He has 6 teeth
and he freaked me out last night but sleeping for 6 hours without waking, dd woke me instead

does that make anyone feel better?

He does do a fantastic thing where id dh flaps? Izys bottom lip he'll make noises cos it sounds silly

He IS unbelieveable cute and good natured though

surprisenumber3 · 03/02/2010 16:52

Bronze, Evie sounds like Isaac in the feeding respect. What we gonna do?!! :D

TBH I would be quite laid back about it if I didn't need to start these damn meds in just over a weeks time!

bronze · 03/02/2010 16:57

I'm going to buy a doidy cup and revel in the fact that I won't have to wean him off the bottle
Presumably your thyroids been like that for a while? In your shoes I would check I wasnt losing too much weight etc and if I was surviving put it off for as long as possible
