Oh and I phoned ebay just now. I am being refunded for the baby annabell which didn't arrive and have to wait 10 days to see if the seller will refund me for the boots before I escalate things. I have since bought some more Uggs which are measuring 1cm longer even though they are half a size smaller, further evidence that the ones i have are fakes. They should (fingers crossed) fit ok as i tried this size on in the shops and they were comfy.

llareggub · 01/12/2009 20:14

Great news Pula.

I sterilise nothing!

flippineckitsnearlychristmas · 01/12/2009 20:38

Evening all!

pula - oh no and yay about your Uggs! Hope you get a good result soon.

dairy stuff - I think anything goes from 6 months. My understanding was that they could even have some milk to drink, just as long as it's not their main drink, it just doesn't have the right nutrients. Or maybe I'm totally wrong? Anyone know?

All ok here, had a productive weekend with DH occupying the girls while I cleaned the house. Not my idea of fun, but I do feel a bit better with everywhere clean, it was starting to get a bit grim. My domestic godessness continued yesterday when I did some ironing () and today when I made bara brith and rice pudding! A loved the rice pudding.

Weaning going ok, A likes playing, eats a bit but not loads, but still has terrible trouble with wind.

flippineckitsnearlychristmas · 01/12/2009 20:45

llaregub - my standby tea is peas, pasta and a very simple sauce made of cream cheese stirred into the pasta until it melts - not even cheese sauce!

Hope all the colds are improving, mine is better than it was but I have a really annoying cough now.

momino - your LM still sounds pretty rubbish, but llaregub, yours sounds a bit better, hope it works out for you.

I'm very sorry, I'm one of those annoying people with a wooden advent calendar because I object to the disnification/commercialisation of Christmas. Even though I'm an atheist . Oh hell, I'll just say it out loud...I'm a middle class hippy.

Parumpumpumtumm · 01/12/2009 21:04

Brrrr, cold here tonight. Might be a sad bugger and go put a blanket over my knees, whilst I await Saint Delia on BBC2.

Llare / Flippin will try the standby dinner, sounds just the job

Monimo Grrrr to your LM. And trip to London. Rubbish

Pula hope Ebay do what they need to do on the Uggs return. And yay for getting nice Uggs that fit

Fi hope you feel better soon

No news from the Tumm household apart from the new Christmas name. Do ya get it or is it rubbish? I went to fracture clinic with DD2 and it turns out she hadn't broken her arm after all but at least the cast is off and all is well. Instead, I am now being woken up by DD1 who is having nightmares about fires. Co-incidentally she is also learning about the Great Fire of London at school

Sorry, no ideas for thread names. I'm not very good at stuff like that !

Febesisachristmascracker · 01/12/2009 21:06

Evening all,

alert

So last night the GP sent me down to the hospital to see if they could work out what this dreaded rash is as its worse (hot, itchy) and there was blood in my urine. I sat in a & e for 3.5 hours before they transfered me up to the assessment ward. I started stressing that I wouldn't be seen until the morning as it was 10pm by the time I got up there. I had left R with DH and as he normally feeds 3+ times a night I was worried that he would be needing me. There was formula at home though so DH gave him that in a sipper cup. The doc did come round and did more blood and urine tests and chest xrays and he has worked out that I have a condition that causes antibodies in my blood to attack the vessels causing inflamation. It will come back throughout my life so when it does I need to get blood tests to check it isn't damaging my kidneys. Apart from that I can just take paracetamol and wait for it to go. I didn't get home until after 2am.

So that's me. DH had the day off and helped loads with the DCs today. Although I went to tutoring tonight and DD fell down the stairs with a back flip involved she's fine though and was laughing afterwards.

It's my birthday tomorrow. I'm 33 although feel about 83 lately .

I'm thinking of visiting the HV to talk about if I should cut back on feeding R as clearly my body needs a break.

Febesisachristmascracker · 01/12/2009 21:09

Love your christmas name Tum.

essenceofSES · 01/12/2009 21:11

Hello!

weaning - Loving the standby tea of peas, pasta and cheese sauce. Will give that a go!
O really hasn't eaten much the last few days whilst he's been full of cold and I haven't pushed it. He didn't BF v much yesterday either. I think he was just too blocked up. Today he seems a little better and I feel a lot more human today too.

Momino - Sounds like we're doing similar things with weaning. BF is definitely O's main source of nourishment atm and he's feeding pretty much at the same level as he was before we started weaning (except for with his cold!) I'm not worried and am just aiming to gradually step it up. I don't want to force it as I want him to enjoy his food.

flippin - O is also creating some wonderful wind noises!
V impressed with Flippinthedomesticgoddess!

sterilising - From 6 months I've just done bottles and pump. What I'm not sure about though is water. Does it still have to be boiled & cooled or can it just be tap water now?

Llare - sounds like a good suggestion from your LM.

Pula - EBay have gone up a little in my estimation from your story so far. Just hope they follow through with your non-Uggs if needed.

work - It's now more than 28 days since I submitted my flexible working request and all I've heard is the email a few days after my request to say they'd received it and would be in touch. It is a bit difficult as my boss has moved on to a new role and the replacement doesn't start until Jan but I copied HR in on my request and I'm a bit disappointed that noone's been in touch to tell me who my new LM is but I have heard on the grapevine.

essenceofSES · 01/12/2009 21:16

x-posted Tum & Febes

Febes - good that you got your rash checked out. Does paracetamol help?
DD fell down the stairs? Must have been a shock but glad she's ok.
Happy Birthday for tomorrow!!!

Tum - oh yes, love the name
Great that DD2's cast is off - phew!

Belgina · 01/12/2009 21:22

Hi everyone.

I'm back from Belgium now and have caught up, but I'll probably forget to mention loads because I have the memory of a goldfish, lol.

First and foremost: my grandma is OK. She's had her surgery yesterday and her heart coped. She's out of ITU and now on a normal ward. The best news is that she hasn't got bowel cancer after all. Something else was causing a blockage and that's now fixed. So who knows, once she's recovered she might yet reach 100! The drs have told us though that she's not allowed to live on her own anymore. We know that she's starting to forget things and during my parent's 6 day stay here she'd taken nearly a months worth or her medication .

Advent calenders We haven't got one. I haven't got round to getting one and now it's a little too late. The dcs don't seem to have noticed that something's missing, so I think I'll leave it at that now. I keep intending to get one of those fabric ones with little pockets, but never do. Oh and I also had to share 1 (aldi) calender with my db when I was little. Luckily it was just him and me so I had a chocolate every other day, unless I had the bad luck to open one of those empty doors...

pula How annoying about your Uggs. I hope you get your money back one way or another. Hope your new Uggs will be better.

weaning I'm also much more relaxed. C barely eats anything solid some days, because we're out and about and she's napping just as it's meal time or something and I've not been organised enough to take something to eat for her with me. The mums I meet up with tend to be BLW mums too and they all have pots of breadstick/carrots sticks/apple etc... on them and I've got nothing . C ends up having a go at the other babies' food in the end I also thought dairy is fine to eat after 6m. C isn't too keen on fromage frais oddly enough. She pulls funny faces every time I try to give her some.

flippin great to hear your dh has a little more understanding about how you feel. If you fancy a little more domestic godessing you can pop round to mine some time too. I clean far to little

My standby meal is pizza or fish fingers and oven chips with peas...

I also think our new thread tittle has got to be something to do with grumpy coming back and xmas rolled into one.

Talking about xmas. When is it acceptable to take on my xmas name. I've thought of a good one you see

flippineckitsnearlychristmas · 01/12/2009 21:23

parumpum..... - I got it! Going round in my head now, though. Watching Delia here too, DH faintly horrified.

Good news about DD2's arm! Breaks are a bit random, they can't always be seen on xrays apparently, something to do with the way bones appear, ossification I think! I broke my wrist 15 years ago, took ages to show up.

Belgina · 01/12/2009 21:28

I knew there would be about a million xposts.

tum I got it Great news about the cast too.

febes Glad your rash was checked out, but [ about the long night waiting in hospital. Luckily you know what it is now and that it's not too serious.

ses I was wondering the same about giving water. I haven't really tried C with a cup yet, but should start doing that soon I suppose.

essenceofSES · 01/12/2009 21:30

Belgina - what fantastic news about your grandmother! You must all be v relieved. Hope she continues well in her recovery.

Belgina · 01/12/2009 21:35

ses Thanks. I hope so too. She's very much loved by everyone in the family. I used to go to hers after school and in the hols, so she played a big part in my childhood.

I havent told you yet what my clever DH did yesterday. He drove through a bit of flooded road, stalled and wrote of his car . Funnily enough 3 more people tried to drive through the same bit of road after him and they all stalled and wrote of their car too. Some people really are idiots.

flippineckitsnearlychristmas · 01/12/2009 21:40

Ooh, about a hundred cross-posts there.

Belgina - fantastic news about your grandmother, here's to many more years!

Oh, and don't be too impressed...I couldn't actually remember when I last cleaned upstairs . I manage to keep the toilet, sink and beds clean, feel pleased with myself about that, but forget to do the rest!

febes - glad you've finally got a diagnosis for the rash, sounds unpleasant but glad it's not too serious.

ses - I've just been giving A tap water, hadn't occurred to me not to, oops. Don't suppose it matters though, most o it goes on the kitchen floor.

pulacracker · 01/12/2009 21:41

Belgina- so glad to hear your grandmother is OK and doesn't have cancer.

ses- i've read mixed views on water. I usually boil and cool but i didn't have any ready today and thought it was better for DS2 to have some water with his lunch so i gave him some from the tap.

febes- at least you finally have a diagnosis for your rash- hope you can get it under control. If R is OK with formula, then it might be good for you to reduce the number of BFs. My HV was concerned about my health and wellbeing when she knew S was feeding every few hours in the night which is why she suggested weaning early in the hope it would help. If your DH can do the middle of the night feed then i am sure you will feel much better.

llareggub · 01/12/2009 21:47

Tap water here too.

Glad to hear all is well Belgina

essenceofSES · 01/12/2009 21:48

Pula - I normally don't allow enough time for the water to cool so end up topping up with tap water which surely defeats the point of using bolied&cooled!!

DS still asleep and I could do with going to bed. Don't want to disturb him though! We really must move him to his own room!

essenceofSES · 01/12/2009 21:50

Have done a new thread...
Will post link...

essenceofSES · 01/12/2009 21:51

here

detsy · 01/12/2009 23:40

Oh llare you're mking me feel a lot better about nonsterilisation and tap water... Seems sto be little point when my 2 seem to share anything and everything that could go into a mouth - fingers, dummies, spoons, food and worse things beside

I still do the bottles as and when I can but if there is a backlog and a screaming boy then I just wash one in hot water. Same goes for the water - though I find that a bit easier to keep on top of with the 2 kettle system!

AFAIK - dairy is fine from 6 months and cows milk is ok in food, but apparently cereals and milk drinks should be BM or formula.

I'm so much more relaxed about the weaning this time - Arch had his hands stuffed into a Rolo desert tonight and thought it was fabulous - can;t beat a few e numbers can you??? And he much preferred that to the popeye pasta i had lovingly prepared for him

Anyone thinking of having another yet then...????
