Morning.
flip good on you for a night out.

jael hope your DD had an ok night and you get something sorted with the agency. Go and camp out there until they do something for you!

R is sitting opposite me troughing toast and banana. Bless him. He has just done possibly the stinkiest poo yet. An absolute blinder. Who would have thought that such toxicness could come out of such a cute cuddly little thing??

Got my snowboard out last night in preparation for this evening. Am going to a friends for drinks first and then driving down. Well, someone is driving me so I can have a glass or two!! Can't wait. I just hope I cam remember how to do it and don't make a complete arse of myself!

DS1 is 4 1/2 to whoever it was that asked. Sorry can't remember who it was.

LadyH, it was me who asked. His swimming ability is amazing! future olympian? hope you have a good snowboarding session, am impressed!

Fi, thanks for the walton names, too lazy to open up a new tab to look it up myself (that's pathetic).

tummum, that story is adorable and made me smile this morning.

flippin, glad you went out and had a good time. it's good for the soul to get out, makeup, dressing up, etc. reminds us we have a life outside parenting.

off to put some make up on myself so I don't scare away the other parents at playgroup.

Hope everyone had a good night. jael, hope your dd was ok.

runningmonkey · 27/11/2009 10:04

Morning all,
Hope the nights were ok for everyone.

tum awww at your DD2, v sweet although not all that practical for you

ladyh amazing swimming ability, am loving my swimming lessons with A so hope she is the same by that age.

flippin glad you had a good night out. Agree with momi that it makes you feel human to have a bit of a break away. Makes coming back to the DCs even better too

jael hope your dd is ok this morning.

Am off for lunch with some local mum friends today, A has been napping so have made a lemon drizzle cake to take along [wannabe domestic goddess emoticon]. Won't be good for the diet but I'll try to only have a small sliver myself

flippineckitsnearlychristmas · 27/11/2009 10:12

LadyH - I'm a bit jealous of your snowboarding. I'm a skier, not a boarder, but snow! My siblings both live near to Tamworth, we keep saying we'll go but haven't got round to it yet. And I suspect that if we do go it'll be to take DD1 and my nephew to the kids play thing. My SIL has borrowed all my kit, she's going skiing with friends in January (without my bro, he didn't want to go, fool!)

running - lemon drizzle, yum!!! Have fun.

lol at all the Waltons chat, wasn't it on on Sunday mornings? Seem to recall watching it with my grandmother whilst waiting for Sunday lunch!

A hasn't had a sleep yet today, very strange. She has been sick all over my clean t-shirt though. Nice.

llareggub · 27/11/2009 10:38

Morning!

We had a much better night last night. We're sending DS1 out to sleep this evening so we are hoping for an even better night. It comes to something when it your 3 year old causing the sleepless nights!

Tummum that is indeed a very cute story.

Headless I am totally with you on the fear of making an arse of myself. 17 years or so ago (maybe a few more) I had a small crush on the snowboarder who boarded at the dry ski slope near my house. I convinced asked him to teach me and he did. He then organised a snowboard contest which was partly to increase snowboarding in Wales which was pretty non-existent back then and also for a laugh. He convinced all of us newbie snowboarders to enter, alongside all those boarders from who'd been doing it for ages. So I entered. Came last. But because I was the only Welsh entrant I also became Welsh snowboard champion for a year. The resulting shame of being a crap snowboarder combined with it being in the bloody local newspaper meant that I hung up my snowboarding boots forever and went back to skiing. Plus it hurt when I fell over.

FiByTheSea · 27/11/2009 10:50

flippin sounds like a great night and i'm trying to limit the slime trails from g's snotty nose atm

ladyh how long has ds been swimming.. i ask because ds hasn't started lessons yet.. we're on the local pool waiting list for when he turns 3.5yrs when they start them here. snow boarding sounds fantastic fun.. i'll have to have a go at some stage!

running lemon drizzle YUM

jael how was dd this am?

FiByTheSea · 27/11/2009 10:58

llare snap.. our ds is the culprit waking us up this week too.. pita! better night last night though both dc's stayed asleep and G with her dream feed at 11pm only woke up when ds woke at 6.30am.. so feel kinda refreshed today.

HeadlessLadyH · 27/11/2009 16:01

fi DS1 did waterbabies from 6months and since then has been swimming at least once a week. He started formal lessons at 3 1/2 and its really been in the last 6 weeks that he has been properly swimming unaided, and since then there is no stopping him. He is super confident in the water and has no prob with putting his head under. I credit it all to Waterbabies, hence we started with R last week in the hope of having another one!!

llare LOL at you being the Welsh Snowboarding Champion!! What a feat!!

flippineckitsnearlychristmas · 27/11/2009 20:56

Ooh, quiet tonight! Anyone watching Axe Men? Ice Road Truckers was much better .

llaregub - rofl at Welsh Snowboarding Champion!

We made the Christmas cake this afternoon, sodding thing still isn't cooked. 8" cake, supposed to take 4 3/4 hours. It went in at 3 this afternoon, I'm going to be up until midnight at this rate. Ah well, at least I can do some farming!

Momino · 27/11/2009 20:59

flippin, there's NOTHING on I want to watch. am considering watching re run of Friends, that's how desperate I am.

on MN before 10pm so gonna catch up before pizza is ready. guess I'll have to pay attention to DH as well. be back in a sec.

Momino · 27/11/2009 21:02

oh and another thing, flippin: quiet? quiet? where? who's quiet? it's not Harper! she's started crying after 45 min, DH and I keep going in every 5-10 min to cuddle her.

oh. she's quiet now .

FiByTheSea · 27/11/2009 21:12

DS had a play date this afternoon and was in bed really early as he was too wiped out after having so much fun to eat his dinner... so DH & I got a chance to settle down early. while I bf G we put on the terminator salvation DVD that we got this week with our surround sound & put the lights out. it almost felt like we were in the cinema and G fell asleep too Twas quite a good film but DH has just headed off to bed with his man flu cold.... so time for mn/fb!

headless that's really fantastic your ds loved waterbabies. I booked ds on it too at the same age... unfortunately he HATED it. I persisted with it for nearly a whole term... even tried switching to a different water babies class held at a pool further away just in case it was the venue that was upsetting him. But no he just hated it everywhere so I just couldn't keep going in the end.. even the instructor said she'd never seen a baby react so strongly against it?! It was quite odd really as when we first got in the water he really enjoyed it and loved just floating around with me... but when the singing etc started that was it... the crying started and there was no consoling him. we had to get out every time... When he was older i took him to another kind of fun splash class held locally which he was still not sure about. The only times i've found he likes being in the pool is when there's hardly any people in it and very little noise... so i think it's the echo sound of the pools he doesn't like? We've not been in some time so i'm hoping that when he starts swimming classes he'll hopefully cope better with the sound/s of the pool... fingers crossed.

pulacracker · 27/11/2009 21:12

Evening- anyone watching "have i got news for you"? They are just joking about mumsnet, and DH is sat next to me having a good laugh at their impressions of mums on mumsnet

Momino · 27/11/2009 21:16

llare, big ath welsh snowboard champ!

ah. she's still going. stops for a little bit then starts again, it's a feeble cry and I'm not sure what it means but it's very effective. I'm sat down here in the lounge on laptop listening to her and feeling like the worst mother ever, my baby sounds so forlorn. do I not cuddle her enough in the day?

quiet again. hope this is it. ok, pizza here so I'll try to relax. everyone else relaxed tonight?

FiByTheSea · 27/11/2009 21:24

forgot to say llare champ.

momino is it her teeth do you think?

essenceofSES · 27/11/2009 21:42

Hello!

I've given up - am in bed feeding. O has a cold and has woken himself up twice now coughing and spluttering. Poor boy is really tired and his eyes have that glazed look. Not sure he'll be in his cot much tonight or that we'll get much sleep.
He's also got sore gums although top teeth don't seem to be in a hurry. My friend's DS (also a May 09 baby) has 6 teeth already!!
I know we're not the only ones but hope someone manages a good night tonight!

FiByTheSea · 27/11/2009 21:49

ses poor o... we're the same with G. She's sleeping next to me on the sofa again in my u-bend cushion to elevate her head a bit atm as dh is in bed already with his germs. she's full of the snotters and i'll have to head out to the shops tomorrow to get more olbas kids and try to track down the green baby chest rub locally that belgina mentioned..

essenceofSES · 27/11/2009 22:02

HiFi
He's now asleep on my shoulder so may try and transfer him into his cot beside my bed. Poor DH is def in the spare room tonight. At least my DH hasn't got manflu the cold (yet!). Hope your DH recovers soon.
Let's hope for better than expected nights all round

FiByTheSea · 27/11/2009 22:09

agreed! dh can keep his lurgie to himself hopefully too...

Jael · 27/11/2009 22:17

Evening everyone X

DD slept really well we went in to check her before we went to bed and tucked her in again, and she woke to give us kisses, and went straight back to sleep again She resisted the toys this morning and slept until 8:30! So I don't think she's too upset about being on a mattress on the floor! I think what were going to do is swap the two rooms over for now, and basically just use DD's "damp" room for "storing" alot of the playroom toys, as I think they're going to drag they're feet, and we can't have her still on the floor On Christmas Eve, that'll break my heart it's not going to be sorted before Xmas is what they've told DP today though, so we have no choice, this means that J is having to stay in with us though, he was about to move into DD's room too, as he's going through most nights now, but there's not much else we can do, its a PITA tbh...right, best give DP his laptop back, can't MN at night either, as playroom is where computer is lol

Momino · 27/11/2009 22:22

could be her teeth Fi. she's been sleeping very lightly. she'd fallen asleep but dog just barked and she's now squealing again.

Hope O and G are ok.

flippineckitsnearlychristmas · 27/11/2009 22:24

Sorry to hear about ill babies/DHs. Olbas oil, high humidity, and praying for miracles are my best suggestions, sorry.

I have finally got the cake out of the oven - 6 hours!!!!! Better be worth it. Actually, don't care what the cake tastes like as long as it's covered in marzipan.

DH and I had a proper chat about stuff this evening. I think he's finally realised that I'm not just 'a bit down', although he still thinks that him doing the washing up and letting me have a lie in at the weekends will fix everything. He also admitted that he doesn't mind if I don't go back to work in April. I was resigned to going back because I thought I ought to, but he agreed with me that perhaps the children are more important than the money right now. In some ways the pressure is off I gues, but it means I'll have to make a decision after Christmas so that I can apply for a career break in time.
