Over here!!!!

OP posts:
essenceofSES · 08/11/2009 21:44

flippin - don't worry, lovely post.
This time 26 weeks ago I'd just done my first full day as a mum
Cliche I know but I don't know where the time's gone but at the same time I can't imagine life without him!

flippineckitsnearlychristmas · 08/11/2009 21:59

Ses - totally agree with you! It's gone so fast. Even faster second time round.

I won't lie, it's been really hard at times but as you said, can't imagine it any other way now. And it hasn't put me off another...

essenceofSES · 08/11/2009 22:04

Mmmm, me too!
I'd love to be pg again (maybe it's me hormones!!) Not so sure how to cope with a toddler and a baby...

I know I've said it before but hats off to all of you with >1DC!

APennyForTheMomi · 08/11/2009 22:32

hi all.
LadyH, thanks for the new thread, great title.
running, hope you're vomit free by now and A feeling better.
Febes, love the profile pics... R looks so big! just reminds me how much they're growing!

we saw my new niece (DH's brother/wife) and I was surprised how little she was at nearly 1 week old. were ours ever really that little? welled up with hormonal tears as well but was in good company as my lovely SIL teared up as I talked about how much more in love I am with my DD's each day. ahhh, parenthood.

weaning - we've just been shoving things at Harper but it's really messy. this weekend she tried omelette, crumpets, strawberries (she loved), gingerbread biscuits, banana buns, sweet potato. I usually just give her a bit of whatever is on my plate. she doesn't eat loads but just tastes things but I'm holding onto the fact that milk is her main food for the 1st year and she'll gradually swap milk for Real Food.

everyone have a good weekend?

APennyForTheMomi · 08/11/2009 22:38

ses about >1 DC, what struck me about visiting my BIL with new baby was that it all seemed so peaceful. I know the baby cries at times and it's not easy but it still seems so much quieter than our chaotic house with dd1&2 playing loudly, H fussing, dog barking, etc. i'm craving peace and quiet now.

FiByTheSea · 08/11/2009 22:55

pmsl... have just discovered a new use for the biscuit emoticon as shown on this thread bottom of page

Belgianrockets · 08/11/2009 23:14

Evening everyone,

LadyH Love the new thread. No coctails for me thank you, I've had too much alcohol since my alcohol loving family has arrived And at your shoes and the gorgeous waiters.

Before I catch up I just want to say fi at the new use of the !

Running I hope A is getting better soon and that you and your DH aren't getting it either. Sorry about last night I posted and ran and never noticed your x-post

dandy My uninvited guest just walked in as my family got home. The were equally It was very surreal. He kept speaking French to us too, because all Belgians speak French of course, even us from the Flemish side double

jael Hope the antibiotics kick in soon and that your tooth feels better by now. Also hope you had a great time at your concert.

MrsSausage Congrats! Glad to hear you had a great day and a lovely time at your honey moon.

flippin That wasn't a me me post at all. It's lovely to reminisce about our labours. 26 weeks ago I was er... Going to bed oblivious to what was about to hit me .

weaning Officially I should start tomorrow, but I think I'm going to hang on with proper weaning until my family have gone and we've got back to our normal routine.

We've had a lovely day today anyway. I made a proper English breakfast this morning. After that we went to Brighton for the day. It was freezing, but lovely. I'm tired though, because C hasn't been sleeping very well recently. I'm not sure why TBH. I suspect she's started teething again + our bedroom gets quite cold due to it being an old house with single glazing. I'm going to try a blanket in addition to her sleeping bag today. C also woke up just before 6 today and then didn't go back to sleep until nearly 10 I hope I'm going to get a touch more sleep today.

runningmonkey · 09/11/2009 04:03

Hi all,
Don't look at the time of this post... It's ike having a nb all over again... Quite apt considering timing don't you think. Not so good for us tho!
Thanks for all the good wishes. A hasn't been sick since 4pm and has been asleep 8-11 and 12-now. She had two decent feed too so am not going to wake her but I am awake as dh and I are feeling ick as well and I can't sleep

I like the reminiscing about whre we were 26 weeks ago. I remember being v huge and fed up and just a little bit envious of all those with lo's already

this has taken ages to type on my phone so am not going to attempt a namecheck but I hope those having sleep probs are having good nights and so is everyone else

Momino · 09/11/2009 07:47

just lost a long post. grrr.
mrsSausage, meant to say congrats and glad you had a good day.

running, at the time of your post. hope you're feeling better and glad A is better.

belgian, sounds like you had a lovely day yesterday.

H slept so much better the past 2 days. we only just moved her to the travel cot and the extra space may have made a difference.

anyone read the Sun Times? there was an article about being a FT mum, career on hold, returning to work... it really hit home. dandy, i'll be sure to keep my boss' correspondence as i don't know the outcome yet to my situation. i'm meant to ring HR if i haven't heard from her this week. i thnk they're now watching her so she doesn't say anything else ridiculous to a mum returnning from mat leave.

hope everyone is well today.

llaregguy · 09/11/2009 08:01

running I feel your pain. I didn't get any sleep last night. G woke up several times and my DH kept me awake with his snoring. I really lost my temper at one point. So, so tired.

MrsSausage a temporary welcome back before you jet off again! How was your day? You looked beautiful.

flippineckitsnearlychristmas · 09/11/2009 08:27

Y'know I said last night all this hasn't put me off another? I might have changed my mind! DD1 woke at 10:45 and went back to sleep at midnight, A woke at 2 for feed, and was up again at 4 just being grumpy.

Why is it that during the day, DD1 is completely, totally in love with Daddy and I don't even get a sidewards glance, but in the middle of the night it has to be me?!

essenceofSES · 09/11/2009 08:29

Morning all!

running - hope A stays vom free now and that you and DH aren't too ill.

Llareggub - doesn't sound like a good night for you either. Will you get chance to get one of those naps today?

Momi - lets hope it's not a one off and that the travel cot works for H

Possibly TMI but there was a little evidence of O's veggies in his nappy this morning

This morning we're off to (would you believe!) a toddler group! I've been assured that O's not too young!

essenceofSES · 09/11/2009 08:31

flipppin - sorry for your bad night too. It is hard isn't it when you end up with having to deal with the tears and upsets but DH gets all the fun and play.

O is currently not just moving himself across the sitting room floor but taking his playmat with him! It obviously needs to be at the other end of the room this morning!

Febesisalittlefirecracker · 09/11/2009 09:07

Morning all. A bit of a rubbish night here too. R woke at 10 when I went to bed so I thought I might as well feed him then I could make him go through to 7am. He woke again at 3 which is brilliant for him so I elbowed DH as we had planned and he tried to get him to sleep by shushing, patting, music, water cuddles but it didn't work. He went quiet a few times but never went back to sleep not that he really cried either and at 4.45am I gave up and feed him and then HE WASN'T HUNGRY AT 7.20 when he woke. So annoying.

I may go and sleep in DD room tonight. I have a horrible rash all over my body so I have an appointment with the GP this morning. I got the same thing about 3 years ago and went to see about 3 different docs and noone knew what it was. They said in the end that it was a virus and it will go eventually. It went away but came back about 3 times over the space of 4 months. It could be linked to stress, tiredness not sure so I'm going to see what this GP thinks of it.

I have put a couple of photos of my nephews on FB.

HeadlessLadyH · 09/11/2009 09:13

Morning all.

Am feeling the pain of those with disturbed and sleepless nights.

R also up at 4am needing a bottle and a complete change of babygro and sleeping bag, and the same again at 7am!!

running I hope you aren't coming down with it too. Nothing worse than feeling sick when you have LOs to look after.

mrssaus welcome back! And jsut to reiterate, you looked stunning and that cake.....!!!! And good on your dad too for putting MIL in her place. What a star.

ses O on the move? Now the fun really starts. I'm hoping we have another 2/3 months of a relatively stationary baby. He's doing pretty well at sitting up but isn't completely stable yet.

Have just started the Christmas planning. Have made the list of who to buy for. Its ridiculous. So many kids!! I have actually picked up a couple of things already but there must be at least 15 kids still to buy for. FIL will be easy. He only ever wants socks. A man with v little imagination. Socks to go with his stylish yet practical safety shoes.

Morning all.

Ta for the new thread Headless .

Gosh lots of bad nights last night. I had to wake B up this morning after his 13 hour sleep but his cot was covered in milky vomit, poor thing, and he hadn't complained in the night. He's had his morning bottle fine and seems ok atm. We shall see.

Welcome back and congrats MrsSaus. Can't wait to hear all about the wedding and mil .

Febes hope you get some answers at the docs today.

Flippin my dd is 2.10 and we finally did the potty training a fortnight ago. It took 3 days of accidents then everything fell into place and she's probably only had c 3 accidents since then, mainly due to tireness. Good luck with it. Dd loves her big girl pants!

Interesting few days here. Last week dh was working looong hours so I was in charge of kids from getting up to past bedtime (very knackering). Was out on Thurs and came back to find some of our bathroom ceiling had fallen in the bath due to the builders (finally starting on our loft extention). Then went to a work meeting all day Sat, Sat eve and Sun am, so kiddies were at in laws (dh reappeared on Sunday). Had a good time at work but really missed the kids. I'm such a softie.

Headless I'm cracking on nicely with Xmas shopping. What's everyone getting their lo's for Xmas?

Belgianrockets · 09/11/2009 10:18

Morning all,

xmas shopping? What's that? Isn't that supposed to be done at the end of Dec somewhere? I used to be equally organised, but lately it's all gone a bit wrong

flippin ladyH llare And anyone else with disrupted nights. I'm sending you my sympathies and some baby sleepy vibes too. flippin Dd2 used to be the same: daddy during the day, mummy at night.

febes Hope the mystery of your rash gets solved.

Today is day 1 of official BLW. I gave C a few strips of toast. She scrunched it, definitely had a lick, but mostly wasn't all that interested, because it make any noise when she shook it, lol. C had her 1st fairly decent night in a week

pulaparkin · 09/11/2009 10:39

Morning - S also had a good night for him - feeds at 10.45, 4.30 and up for the day around 6.30.

Belgian- I stopped dreamfeeding around 8mo with DD and DS1- they were bottle-fed so i gradually reduced the amount and brought it forward, as suggested by the Baby Whisperer.

Febes- It may take a few nights for R to get the message but it's worth persevering as it sounds like he wasn't really hungry or he would have been crying, but was just wondering why he wasn't being fed so wouldn't go back to sleep! I saw your nephews on FB- very cute . I am trying not to get broody as i don't think it's a good idea but i did ask DH what he thought about a fourth DC and he didn't say no straightaway .

I can't believe S is 6 months old this week. Time has really flown (I went back to work when my DD was 6 mo but can't imagine doing that now!). DH is keen to get him out of our room, but i want to hold onto my little baby a bit longer . With DD and DS1 I stopped BF when I wanted to (8mo and 11mo), but i can see myself BF for as long as he wants!.

Tummum · 09/11/2009 10:39

Morning all. Just reporting in on the sleep training. Well, G must have seen that my resolve was strong because I gave him a bigger dreamfeed than normal at 11pm and then he slept until 5.30, which is pretty good. I gave him some cold milk at 5.30 but he wasn't bothered by it (as he usually has it warm) so I gave him a cuddle and put him down and after a few grumps he slept until 7.30. So my plan for tonight is not offer him milk when he wakes up. We shall see... !

Mrssaus great to hear from you and you looked amazing. Enjoy Spain

Xmas shopping I have sort of started, and am going to Milton Keynes today to start in earnest. Exciting !

Sympathies to those with rubbish sleeping LOs

Febes hope the GP can help with the rash

I am leaving G today with the Nanny as I am slowly leaving him more and more before I start back at work. I am very nervous about leaving him as I know I am really going to miss him. So I will probably buy him some clothes when I am out to make up for me being away. I still haven't heard from work about my 4 day working week. .

FiByTheSea · 09/11/2009 11:25

Sorry to hear about all the rough nights G went to sleep a bit later last night after feeding lots from 6.30-8.30pm, dream feed at about 11.30pm and then woke up this morning at 7.30am because of ds being noisy!

bit of a mememe post as I need a bit of reassurance/advice today... i know i'm being a worry wort for no reason but dh is away all this week and need to thrash it out iyswim...

I haven't been able to get to clinic to get g weighed for 5wks with ds & G having CPox and then me getting the cough/sore throat yuk lurgy. I'm not able to make it this week so I thought i'd do a home weigh (me get on scales holding naked G... then me getting on scales without naked G and subtract to get an idea of G's current weight).

Well at her last weigh in she had dropped for the 1st time below her 98th% to about 94th%.. she had gained 14oz in 5wks. Now at 5wks later she has dropped again by my reckoning to the 90th% gaining about 12oz.

She has been far more active over the last 6wks... rolling and such so I know that's probably why she's not gaining as much. She seems absolutely happy and is still sleeping through the night 99% of the time.. when she does wake in the night i do feed her.

I offer both boobs each feed so she can have as much as she needs. I know I shouldn't fret but ds was formula fed and as you know i've been bf this time. I'm just starting to doubt the quality of my milk supply I'm sure there's plenty of milk there as she's a happy smiley little girl but i'm wondering if I should maybe start weaning. She's 24.5wks today ad has been watching us eat so intently for quite some time. Do you think she's in need of extra calories or do you think i'm just being a worry wort?!

I'm off to google the bf weight charts and see how she plots on that & my sensible hat says don't panic as ds did drop off his line and found a new one of his own eventually but with bf this time i'm sorta blaming myself for her drop iyswim

llaregguy · 09/11/2009 11:29

Fi, can't say much as I've got to dash to school to pick up DS1, but all sounds fine to me. So long as G is active, perky, has plenty of wet nappies etc and you have no concerns, I'm sure everything is fine. I remember once DS1 got active he slimmed down a lot and now there is hardly anything to him. DOn't worry, you're doing a great job.

Got to run, was late dropping him off so can't be late picking him up!

FiByTheSea · 09/11/2009 11:33

i've got to dash to pick up ds but will be back on when we get home too. just doubting myself a bit

Belgianrockets · 09/11/2009 12:05

fi You sound like you're doing well to me. One thing that could influence your results as well is that you're using a different scales from the HV, IYKWIM. But like llare said: G's got plenty of wet nappies, is happy, healthy, active, reaching her milestones and she's even sleeping through the night. You're doing brilliantly

I've just topped up my O2 pay&go mobile for the 1st time and got this surprises code and got myself a free Grazebox snack box. What a bonus

I've also been checking my Next online statements and I still haven't been charged for the bunkbeds I've bought for for the dcs 2 months ago. I'm hoping they've forgotten

FiByTheSea · 09/11/2009 12:52

Thanks llare & belgian i know i shouldn't be worrying but when a little self doubt creeped in I started to worry... we'd already started weaning ds by this age so started to think maybe G should start too, though i'm sure she'll be fine to wait until 22nd.

FiByTheSea · 09/11/2009 12:55

belgian what a bonus if next forget as well as your surprise o2 graze box !
