pula about your uggs
good luck with ebay

Reggiee · 30/11/2009 19:01

Hi all

Pula niiiccceee response from the seller . Most disappointing.

Momi wait til tomorrow for advent calendars - you'll surely get a bargain . Each year I fancy one of those sort that you can add your own treats too - preferably wooden - but I never see them reduced and am too tight to buy it full price. Dh just been to our local M&S and informed me they are selling Peppa Pig chocolate ones there.

Looby terracotta pots sound lovely - a really nice idea. A while back I got a couple of blank canvasses and put dd and ds's footprints on. Never again. Ds was not obliging.

Running online shopping definitely the way to go. Although I used to love the late night shopping in town (I prefer my early bed time now) as it made it feel Christmassy.

Grumpy "proper wood fire"

Febes . Yup I am anal fissue gal. And so is ds although his seem to have disappeared. Just add it to my list of broken bits . However, as I have recently been to the docs about my piles then my vaginal prolapse, I decided not to go once again purely to show the docs my bum. Really must go and get them sorted though. Can sometimes be painful (imagine glass tearing your rectum), and is often itchy. But each time it itches it reminds me to do my pelvic floor exercises, so every cloud and all that .
Anyway, what I'm trying to say is I don't really know what the treatment is, but sympathy to your dsis.

Dh is making tea tonight .

Grumpyoldcaaaaaaaa · 30/11/2009 19:26

reg fissure ouch bloody ouch. Along with your other bits 'n' bobs. Oooh poor you.

What's DH making for tea then? Re the wooden advent calendars, the 2 English mums I know here both have them and were smugging about them the other day. I put on my most common and gormless face and said I'd bought a 'Oui Oui' (Noddy) chocolate one. They looked superior. Made me laugh a lot.

Fire's stil going I'm pathetically pleased with myself. I braved the woodpile and the gigantic (thick-legged) spiders therein several times today. I'll miss the fire when I'm back home (sad loser who didn't make it abroad emoticon), the sound and smell is gorgeous. Still, my new kitchen, bathroom, frenchwindowsleadingouttogarden, flooring, decor etc might just make up for it.

loobs how you doing? Sorry to hear M has been poorly .

pula That response from the seller just screams 'yes I know they're bloody fakes but I don't want to refund you'. I love my Uggs but have severly mistreated them (think clambering around on the logpile, spilling petrol all over them, trudging though muddy puddles). There are so many fakes about...

Cup of tea or wine? Hmmm shall ponder that.....

Off to post message on FB meet-up oobrie-doobrie.

llareggub · 30/11/2009 20:07

Smugging love it! What a great term! We do have a lovely wooden advent calendar which I lovingly fill with chocolate and empty a few times during December when I'm craving chocolate. I didn't always replace it but I'm sure I won't get away with that this year.

FiByTheSea · 30/11/2009 20:46

rofl at the smugging can just picture the faces well I too have always lusted thought about the wooden advent calendars too... so this year i went all out and bought DS exactly the one he wanted.... ... a Ben 10 one for £2.99!

pula sorry about your Uggs, I hope they come to their senses and let you return them. If there was a small bidding war for them when you won them they'd be able to offer them to the bidder closest to yours as a second chance offer anyway...

looby you've reminded me of things we did for gp's / G aunties xmas presents... we are lucky to have a paint your own pottery place here.. so one year I got ds to put his hand print on mugs, I painted the date & Grandpa/Nannie etc on them and then the shop fired them (included in the cost of the item along with use of all their stuff). 1st time we made diy moulds (can tell you how properly if you're interested) out of home made play dough pushed 1 x hand/foot into the play dough and then cast them in plaster of paris. you can paint them with metallic paint too(look great mounted in a deep box frame). This years calendars/photo books have been less messy but not as much fun for ds...

Grumpyoldcaaaaaaaa · 30/11/2009 21:00

llare I hope you weren't smugging there?

The mums in question wear a lot of Ralph Lauren and DKNY. I wear Hyper-U/Tesco/Warehouse if I'm feeling flush. They have that casually and artfully messy, caramel-streaked hair, I have greying, frizzy, badly dyed hair.

I have nicer children though

Momino · 30/11/2009 21:30

evening all.
pula, can't believe the reply from the ebay seller. that is not good service. did you read any of the seller's old feedback?

grumpy, you're not allowed to use that emoticon (sad loser) ever again. ever.

llareggub · 30/11/2009 21:44

Oh yes, and it was handmade by FIL to boot!

But the wooden advent calendar is in the garage somewhere and our chocolate ones have pride of place on the sideboard.

FiByTheSea · 30/11/2009 21:58

oh and grumpy i agree with momino i totally ignored the sad loser didn't make it emoticon... you had a french adventure... not failure! Those other mums seem to have not only wads of money but also heaps of time to themselves... if their hair do's are anything to go by. Me thinks their kids are going to be a bit pretentious through no fault of their own

llare how lovely of your FIL to make one... that'd be more special than any you could buy

pulacracker · 30/11/2009 22:09

Momino- their feedback was generally good, and those who had bought uggs from them were happy. They do look really good, just that they are too small and that if genuine, i thought you bought a size (or half a size smaller) so a 6.5 should be comfy for me as a 7 but they are way too small. I wonder if other buyers just bought their usual size, in which case they probably fitted well . fi - yes, someone only bid about 50p less than me so you would think they would just go for second chance offer, or just relist. Well i've raised a case, and will wait to see if ebay get in touch. They are late in responding to my missing baby annabell doll too.

My DD and DS1 have both got Thorntons chocolate advent calendars - they are so spoilt! When I was little:

  1. i had to share my advent calendar with my Dsis and DB so only got a door every 3 days and
  2. there were just pictures, no chocolate or nuffink.
Momino · 30/11/2009 22:43

pula, what a bother. what a bother.

had to put that twice as it really sounds like... a bother. and you're missing baby Annabel as well? hope it all works out anyway.

llare, i do love the sound of your advent calendar by yo9ur lovely FIL.

well, i'm just writing work email and wasting time really. my dumb line mgr still hasn't answered my questions about job share or moving to a smaller account/area. we're supposed to have Harper's bond for nursery this week and we can't make the decision until she gives me information. last email i got from her said she didn't have the time for me and to write back end of nov... what a great line manager . i can't wait to go back.

also got a KIT day in London next tue. gotta take Harper with me since i'm still BF. should be a blast: 7 month old on an early train, tube, training session, hurrah. and I'll have to see my boss in person. I really have little to say to her though. except sarky things like complimenting her email communication and her own time mgt skills.

sorry, this is turning into a rant, isn't it? it's not helping me or you or anyone, is it?

FiByTheSea · 30/11/2009 22:49

momino rant away... sounds a well deserved one at your lm on your behalf.

Momino · 30/11/2009 23:00

well. i'm off to bed. hoping everyone has a good night sleep with dreamy babies.

FiByTheSea · 30/11/2009 23:10

night momino I've got a wide awake G on my knee atm she's had a bum change, 1 boob and is still smiling at me... so going to try boob #2 and hope she goes back to sleep quicker than last nights 1.5hr post dream feed wake up fiasco that then kept me awake until she gave into sleep at 00.30am!

FiByTheSea · 30/11/2009 23:31

YAY looks like I can head to bed too as G has just drifted back off to sleep after boob#2... so going to dash before ds wakes! night night xoxox

pulacracker · 01/12/2009 13:02

Afternoon ladies, very quiet on here again. Not long til we need another thread though, not that i've got any good suggestions for titles.

S seems to be getting over his cold- he's much happier, he napped more than 20 mins this morning for a change, and is eating better .

Momino · 01/12/2009 13:09

Hi Pula and everyone.

glad S is better. about eating... I wonder if that is Harper's prob as she's not taking in that much. perhaps she is stuffy? dd1&2 and I have a bit of a chesty cold maybe she's getting it.

Otherwise, she is definitely favouring BF over food. anyone else have this problem with weaning?

About thread title, i'll have a think. I notice it's tougher for me to get time on the computer and can't imagine what it will be like when I go back to work. Our thread will go much slower in a few months, i'm sure.

hope all are having a good day.

FiByTheSea · 01/12/2009 13:31

hiya pula momino will try and think of a christmas themed thread title.. bit brain dead still and i'm no longer barry white.. as pretty much have no voice at all!

runningmonkey · 01/12/2009 14:20

Hi All,

sorry to hear about the colds momi and Fi. Glad S is better tho.

How about something Christmassy and in honour of Grumpy's return? 'grumpycaaaa is coming back to town'

I'll get my coat

FiByTheSea · 01/12/2009 16:29

been wondering as i can't remember.. when can our lo's have yogurt? I know no cows milk unless in cooking for the mo but didn't know if it was same for yogurt fromage frais should be ok though right? you'd think i'd remember after ds wouldn't you?!

llareggub · 01/12/2009 16:32

I don't know fi, but g has had yoghurt/fromage frais from around 6 months. He has it for breakfast with porridge and fruit.

FiByTheSea · 01/12/2009 16:39

I thought it was ok.. cheese too but it's amazing how you forget isn't it!

llareggub · 01/12/2009 17:10

G has had lots cheese. Cheese sauce, peas and pasta is my "oh god, what are the boys eating for tea" stand-by!

I went out for lunch today with my team from work and G was so good. He had a little bit of risotto to start, then a huge chip and some bread. I didn't give him any of my very lovely steak or cheesecake, but he tried very hard to steal it!

Anyway, I had a chat with my manager and I am going to delay resigning for a bit. She is happy for me to do 2 days and then work the rest of my hours (around 6) flexibly and whenever from home. So I think I'll give it a go and see what happens.

runningmonkey · 01/12/2009 18:53

Evening. Quick post n run from me. I can hear A protesting at being dragged from the bath.

Re milk - my understanding was that cows milk is ok in meals, eg. on weetabix, in recipes, in cheese and yogurts from 6months but it is not ok as a main drink until 12months. Will check back over the handout we got at our weaning talk... if I can remember the 'safe place' I put it in

pulacracker · 01/12/2009 19:34

fi- S has been having fromage frais since 23 weeks before i realised it should be 6 months . Since 6 months, he has also had cheese sauce, and milk on his weetabix. He seems OK about it all- no signs of allergies. I am a lot more relaxed with DC number 3 . With DD i sterilised every spoon, bowl, beaker and so on until she was 12 mo. With DS2 i do his bottles and my breast pump but that's it.
