Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Cricri · 13/10/2009 15:23

Hi ladies,
Sorry to barge in with a me post but DH was taken into hospital with a suspected TIA (mini-stroke) early this morning. He was at work so he's in a hospital in London (50 miles away). He's been keeping me updated and is currently waiting for an MRI scan. The doctors aren't sure what the problem is but they're keeping him in overnight for observation and possibly longer depending on the scan result. I'm trying not to worry but it's hard He says there's no point in visiting atm because he doesn't really know what is going on so I'm trying to concentrate on looking after E. Hopefully we'll know more later - just wanted to offload really.
Good to have you back Rutho

ellieloooooooooooooween · 13/10/2009 15:25

Oh cricri you must be so worried is the hospital far away?

ellieloooooooooooooween · 13/10/2009 15:26

Rofl at you DH rosa

suiledonne · 13/10/2009 15:28

Hi cricri, what a worrying time for you. Just to let you know a friend of mine had this happen when he was only 30. He made a full recovery - no lasting damage whatsoever. Hope your DH is OK and that you are coping too. Keeping busy with E will help.

Best of luck.

Yorky · 13/10/2009 15:29

Cricri - thats pretty scary, praying for him and you. Will also email out about chocs this evening.

Have a lovely quiet house atm, both DCs are asleep. I went out yesterday evening (wonderful Lush pamper evening) so DD gave us the night from hell as punishment for messing up her bedtime.
DS has temp and sore throat so being pretty clingy and miserable lovely and cuddly and watching more TV than he's normally allowed in a month!

Hi Saurus, nice to see you again, babysaurus sounds like he's doing so well

Daisy - how do you smuggle a new buggy in without DH noticing?!

PinkyMinxy · 13/10/2009 16:19

Cricri how awful, hope your DH is ok, it must be such a worry for you.x

Rutho hope the shopping went well. I was going to say maybe ovulation pain but the timing isn't right- off to GP with you I would say.

Daisy Rofl at you with a secret pram habit- not so easy to hide as chocolate

LB yay for the holiday, hope you can sort out things with work.

I dropped my phone today and broke it

I am quite excited as I have volunteered to do arty stuff with my DS's class at school one morning a week, going to a meeting about it tomorrow. I'm not sure who is going to enjoy it more- prolly me!

LadyBuzz · 13/10/2009 16:26

cricri hope Dh is OK, hjow awful for you to be so far away.

LOL at yopur DH Rosa

rutho go to the GP and get checked out. I had something similar and was reffered for a scan - they found nothing - and had the gall to ask if I was sure it wasn't just period pain - by a man I nearly punched him! However getting back to the subject, its worth getting it checked, mine eased off when I went back on the pill. I am having first AF since coming off it again (yes that is correct) but it seems OK this time.
Anyhjoo i'm ramblking agfain, hope everyttrhing is OK with you.

pinky enjoy your arty crafty stuff, I bet uyou are fab!

LadyBuzz · 13/10/2009 16:27

Crici I hope DH is ok. Let us know when you hear anything. x

I have not really thought about Becca's birthday, i'm in denial that a year has passed!! Its on the 29th....

Oblomov · 13/10/2009 19:43

Rosa · 13/10/2009 19:57

CriCri hope its nothing serious leep us updated.
COolcat get better soon .
Temps have dropped here so I forsee the bugs coming out ..... Nooooo please a few weeks rest from the beasties !!

Yorky · 13/10/2009 19:59

I have had enough tonight.
DD was horrible last night (may have mentioned that before!) which has obviously left me tired. DH is out at youth club doing good things in the community and eating tuck shop! Neither DC is asleep yet - they have been in bed for nearly 1.5hrs!!!
I have tried talking gently, hugging, back stroking, shouting till DS cried and now I'm hiding in an alternative reality and pretending I can't her him

Whinge over.
Coolkat, i am doing the chocs for Cricri's DDs baby naming day but haven't been very business like about it. Hope her DH is OK

Ceebee74 · 13/10/2009 20:49

cricri gosh, I really hope your DH is ok. How very scary for you and I can't imagine how hard it must be not being near him.

Buzz at you You brave brave woman - 2 is more than enough for me

Yorky hope your DC settled - you just want to shout at them sometimes don't you?

Daisy lol at your DH not noticing a new pushchair - how many must you have to be able to sneak a new one in???

Had my stitches out today - it wasn't too bad but definitely not an experience that I would want to repeat!! I am not really squeamish but there is something about having something pulled through my skin that makes me shiver!

Cricri · 13/10/2009 21:04

Sorry for just posting and running earlier - E woke up from her afternoon nap and I never got chance to post an update. I can't even use the laptop downstairs now as E climbs all over me when I'm on it because she thinks I'm going to put Plumvision on for her. She does love that website and gets very excited when the music starts!
Thank you so much for all your good wishes and reassurance, it means a lot. DH is in good spirits. My sister went to see him earlier as she works not far from the hospital. He was supposed to have his MRI scan today but hasn't. I think there were several emergencies that cropped up. Anyway, he's nil by mouth from midnight tonight apparently so should be scanned sometime tomorrow morning. He had a CT scan earlier today, which was fine. His blood pressure is fine, all reflexes are normal. He did say earlier that one side of his face was slightly droopy, which is why the doctors were concerned this morning, but that's back to normal. He was at work and suddenly had a strange sensation in his head, his vision went blurry and he had pins and needles in one arm. He then couldn't move that arm for a few minutes. Fortunately his colleagues didn't hesitate in calling an ambulance and one of them went with him and stayed at the hospital until lunchtime. How frightening for him though However, I'm now reassured, although it will be good once we know the results of the MRI scan. If all is ok then he should be able to come home tomorrow. I'll keep you posted though.
Yorky No problem about the chocs, I know your family was ill last week too so please don't worry. Sorry you're having such a horrible evening and hope you finally get the DCs asleep. I struggle with just one who has problems sleeping, never mind any more!
Coolkat Hope you feel better soon.
Hello to everyone else

PinkyMinxy · 13/10/2009 21:17

Glad it went ok, Ceebee. I know what you mean about the stitches, I had a bead with my first CS and that felt very odd coming out!

Yorky Hope the brood GO TO SLEEEEEEP. You have my sympathy.

TMI alert but Mimi has taken to sucking ym nipple through her teeth as she comes off, if I am not hyper-vigilant. I have a large black bruise all round. Minx. .

She's getting really good with her spoon- she actually chopped up her broccoli with it this tea time

LB you know 3 is the magic number!

PinkyMinxy · 13/10/2009 21:19

Cricri that sounbd svery scary, but thank goodness his colleagues acted quickly.I hope he is home with you tomorrow with the all-clear.

ruthosaurus · 13/10/2009 22:16

Hi all,

Thanks for lovely messages - it's good to be back.

cricri, big hugs - my DH is under investigations for a weird vision thing he had in the summer so I know (a bit) what it's like. I hope yours is okay x He's in hospital and everyone reacted really really fast, which is the main thing, but you must still be wetting yourself. Keep us posted x

I have booked my gp appt - I am hoping that it is the coil being weird and I'm sure that it is, and then I can go on the mini-pill etc etc. Who in their right mind would think of shoving a piece of copper in a uterus anyway, eh?

Gtg, marking til midnight at this rate and my stepmum needs entertaining, husband needs nagging etc.

But I bought a lovely clutch bag today. Mmm, shiny.

AFingerofFudge · 13/10/2009 23:18

Hi all, have been away for the weekend to Derbyshire for a reunion of people I used to work with 20 years ago!! It was fabulous and I feel very refreshed, although also feel like an old hag compared to some of the Bright Young Things that were there.

cricri wishing you and your DH well. I too have had a couple of friends suffer this, and although very very scary, they suffered no ill effects or further probs.
rutho so glad to "see" you, have been wondering how you and Finbo are
yorky sorry your DC's are being such pests at bedtime, I think you're right, you have to escape sometimes
tegan sorry your sleep probs aren't easing.
suildonne glad you decided to stick around, I also never thought i'd be regularly (ish) posting through a chatroom, but this thread has saved my sanity on a number of occasions!

well, we finally have some crawling!!! M decided he'd celebrate being on a minibreak in Derbyshire by crawling!! He is so pleased with himself, although doesn't look where he's going so he keeps banging his head into things. Also of course makes his way to all the most unsuitable things he can see. DH was looking after him today as I had a study day with work. When I got back, DH had written Malachy's Christmas list:
My First Hair Straighteners
My First Fire Irons
Sycamore seeds
Newspapers to chew on

In case you don't remember, he's one of the youngest on the thread coz although I was due at the end of November, he wasn't born till the 9th December, so a little while off for birthday planning.

Right, must go, hi to all x

LatinDAISYcal · 13/10/2009 23:51

Oh CriCri, I hope your DH is OK; hugs to you tonight as it must be hard not being able to get to even see him.

Rutho, I hope it's nothing serious with your DH's vision; sounds worrying.

hope the DC settled Yorky.... and ceebee "want to shout at them sometimes"....erm

I only have two, the P&T and a chicco that I keep in the car....and a BJCM double and a zoom, an M & P pulse, and until a few weeks ago two graco duosports!!!!

right, knackered. Too many late nights combined with restless children. I seem to get a second wind at 10pm though even though I'm dead on my feet at teatime

sorry to anyone I missed, it's been busy today

Phee96 · 14/10/2009 10:50

Cricri I hope DH is ok. Hugs to you all

Rutho good to see you again!

Sorry I haven't been around much. All pc time seems to be spent on MSE these days. We are now officially in the s&@t! Barely any money coming in and we've started missing payments. Dh driving me up the wall and we are at each others throats all the time. Don't feel at all connected to new baby and I'm constantly near or in tears. Sorry to be so miserable when people have bigger worries but can't offload on family as I'm too ashamed am currently hiding in attic under the pretense of sorting stuff for a carboot so we've got some cash for birthday and christmas presents, but posting on here and having a good blub instead.

Would it be possible for someone to send me link to our fb group please, if no one minds?

suiledonne · 14/10/2009 11:06

Phee sorry to hear you are struggling at the moment. Did I understand right that you have a November baby and a new baby too?

DH and I went through tough times financially this summer too and it does put you under a lot of strain. Is your DH self-employed? Mine is and although the work comes in sometimes it can be hard to get people to pay up.

Don't know how to link to Facebook - I'm sure someone who knows how will be along soon.

Tinkerisdead · 14/10/2009 11:58

Hi all, Sorry you are having such tough time phee Im not on facebook as I cant even keep up on MN let alone that.
crici I truly hope DH is okay and comes home soon.

Ive had to skim read the last posts to catch up, missed so much as not been able to get on for a week. Dh is being a prize prick and not helping much at all at home. Playing pool, going on the net etc whilst i do all the ironing, cooking etc until late at night.

DD has her first pair of shoes hooray! She's walking about 85% of the time just dropping to a crawl when she wants something fast! So we went to get some shoes so I can put her down outside but as she still arches her feet to balance, she's had to have cruiser shoes to keep the flexibility. ugliest shoes I ever did see but very proud mummy!

loving all the birthday chat. ive cooked some stuff for DD's birthday party and put it in the freezer. that way i look like a fabulous hostess with homecooked fare to my knobby in-laws

Oblomov · 14/10/2009 12:44

Facebook
Phee - hope that works, it did for me, once I logged in.
Sorry to hear of woes. It is terrible what financail strain does to people. Don't feel bad. We are herre to listen to all woes, petty and monumental

Suiledon - Phee is our first Nov 08 Mn'er who is pregnant again - can't remmeber when her little one is due, but she is the first. I don't think there is anyone else who has 'announced' anything, is there ladies ?

Ceebee74 · 14/10/2009 13:29

Phee for you - what a hard time you are having. Feel free to offload on here - that is what we are here for

Afaik Phee is due early next year - am thinking January time??

drs check you out with your homecooked stuff in the freezer I really need to get off my bum and make the most of my 'sick' leave by baking and cooking. What have you made ?

I am starting to feel really guilty now - the hospital gave me 2 weeks sick note which runs out next Tuesday and tbh I am probably feel well enough to work now but still have another 6 days left I can't stay in the house as I am SO bored so have been to mothercare today and then out for a quick lunch with DH - I am not really meant to be doing this am I??

Rosa · 14/10/2009 13:55

phee you poor thing , it must be very stressful. I hope that your dh manages to find another job and good luck with the car boot.
drswife am very impressed with the walking and also the cooking. I would leave dh ironing and let him do it. That is what happened in our house when he was going to bed and I was still up I did selective ironing and he had sandwiches for dinner 4 nights in a row before he got the hint... He has now improved ( a bit!)
Daisy how do you hide another buggy from your dh or will you say that one of your doubles split in 2?
cricri glad sis went and saw your dh must be very frustrating. Hope its all positive with teh scans etc.
