Hi all

Had a bit of a pants day as M is such hard work when she wants to be

Lucky - what a fab idea re beanbag, might try it with M as she is really driving me up the wall

I have sky broadband but not talk and its very quick conection. But I don't like sky TBH, they never tell us when the prices are going up, just take it out of your a/c iyswim.

LaT - don't be silly, you have deffo not upset me!! Have heard good things re the early waking to sleep later thing so fingers X for you!!

LOL at S in buggy hugging pasta

JKS - very on your night out but not of your trip to aldi, good luck!!

Gingeme - That is how i have felt with M today TBH. ATM she is highchair shouting "tea" very crossly because she doesn't want what i have gven her

Wonder what age I can start getting tough with her, it can't come soon enough...

Ange - well done on the CC Sorry had to LOL at poo done while bouncing on zebra

LuckySalem · 05/06/2009 17:40

Simps - In all honesty, Im tough with aaliyah now - she KNOWS what she's doing. People keep telling me oh she's testing you blah blah blah she doesn't understand what she's doing. But the child keeps looking at me right before she does something and then smiling.

Especially with the hitting thing. She gets times out now. I wont talk to her for like 30 seconds till she's calmed down again.

simpson · 05/06/2009 17:53

Ok M bites J so can do time out for that.

But its when she starts sinking to the floor and head butting floor while screeching if she doesn't get her own way that does my head in TBH.

And also while she is doing it there are no tears coming out of eyes so it is all an act/anger iyswim.

The other thing she has started to do the last couple of days is demand strawberries or banana for every meal and refuse to eat anything else put infront of her

AngeChica · 05/06/2009 21:25

More soft play and long walk today to try and tire the boy out. We shall see. Am on my own next 2 nights so will be my sole willpower to keep it up. Couldn't do PUPD though Gingeme - it gets DS and me totally infuriated!

DH has gone on a residential with school this weekend, like an outdoor ed thing, and has been allowed to take dog with him, it's quite odd being home without the dog.

Having a dog and a LO is hard work sometimes Lucky. Easier if you are a SAHM I guess. Even so DH gets up to walk the dog 5.45 am on a school day, and if he's away and I have to work, I have to saddle up the boy and get them both out rain or shine before breakfast. Bless the poor mutt now, he just lies there and lets DS manhandle him etc. (which I do try to discourage). He was a rescue dog so we are very lucky with his temperament.

Am wathing Big Brother (sorry Lucky) I don't do any other reality show but this one!

LaT have you got an IKEA near you - seen cheap tastic tea sets in there before.

Hope you enjoying your quiet weekend JKS.

MrsMc was due 4 June ...have left a message on her AN thread.

AngeChica · 06/06/2009 10:28

Awake 11.45pm and 3am and up from cot (yay) at 6.40am - very encouraging though as didn't take long to resettle!

Lilyloo · 06/06/2009 12:53

JKS did you get any good camping stuff ?
We are getting our tent next pay day and have about 3/4 of the items. I got a saucepan set and head torch from aldi.

Lucky nice to see you , we have sky talk and broadband is fine.

Oops best go dd crying really bad nights sleep but she is NOT going to be allowed to sleep all day today!

Hi all

Well things not so ok here - last night she was so bad she was saying she wanted to go and we thought she would, but this morning she was better again and was out of bed for two hours.

There will be a mneeting with consultant tuesday to see if dialysis is still doinbg anything - if not it will probably be stopped and then it will take a week or so til the end. If it is still working they will carry on. One moment she wants to stop - next moment doesn't. DH wondering if he needs to be at the meeting but experience tells me she wil lthen look for him to make decisions which he can't. So looks like we will come home for a bit tomorrow and as and when things near the end - which may well be middle of next week - come back here and stay til after funeral.

DH not doing as badly as I thought he was - me another story. But coping by just switching off from feelings as usual and looking after dh and mil and ds. Only exception long phonecall with friend last night as I thought I was going to burst, dh did not want to see anyone and lovely dad just no good for these things.

Have not caught up with everyone - Simps will be in touch soon. Looks like you have made some decisions though.

xx

JustKeepSwimming · 06/06/2009 14:20

Ange - well done, keep going

Madmouse - so hope you can just hold things together for a bit longer.

Lily - i didn't get any camping stuff in the end, was really looking for something for the boys to sleep on but thinking i will get readybeds instead. though the ones i've seen on the net are more expensive than i expected (nearly £40!) and i want 2....

Am really enjoying the quiet time and time alone with H. should probably be getting more done but not, oh well.

Look forward to when DH takes both boys to his parents for the odd weekend, will really get peace and quiet then!! (and it's a break for him too as his parents just do everything for the boys so i'm not being unfair).

T went to see The Tiger Who Came To Tea in the theatre with grandma, dh & cousins this afternoon, will wait to hear later how it went. first 'show'

right, jobs to do....

LaTrucha · 06/06/2009 19:59

Hi all! Well, the house was a total success, although he seems to have got used to it very quickly and has stopped praising me!

I'm starting to get very skeptical about some of Sabela's crying. She definitely does, 'I'm in a mood crying' now. I tend to carry on if it's something I need to do which she doesn't feel like doing, like a nappy change and to ignore / distract and in the worst case, leave if she's being antsy. They have very strong personalities, don't they?

Sorry no personals. Very tired today for some reaon.

Ange - no Ikea, much to my chagrin.

Anyone having highchair woes, because we are. Sabela pretty much refuses hers - I think she gets bored. I'm not insisting at the moment, and spend mealtimes chasing her as she cruises round amusing herself. She eats a lot more and it's more good-humoured. Do you think I should insist on highchair and table at mealtimes. TBH I don't, obviously. At least, not yet.

Lilyloo · 06/06/2009 20:15

JKS apparsntly the sale is on on Thurs ? Self inflating mats £12 each any good ???

MM so sorry

LaT i personally would insist on highchair and table tbh as i quite simply couldn't deal with the others at mealtiles if i didn't. Glad he liked the house!

Ange wow he is doing great

I agree they are very willfull but i am with Lucky i do think M understands some of what she is doing now. She is alos gaining some understanding of the word no. Choosing to follow that instruction is an entirely different matter though

OP posts:
JustKeepSwimming · 06/06/2009 20:39

Thanks Lily - may pop back then.
H definitely knows what No means, never follows it though! and has started to do things deliberately to make me say no just so he can laugh

LaT - i would insist, i do, they have to sit at the table to eat. i know it's hard work that way but i couldn't do it any other way.
Glad Dh was happy with the house, keep nudging him for praise!

So, a chilled day here, brother left early, H and I mooched about, he slept lots, i got stuff done. looking forward to T & DH coming home tomorrow though time has flown by.

Lucky - saw Wrexham on the weather map, looked pretty damp.....

LaTrucha · 06/06/2009 22:11

I suppose it makes a difference when there's more than one eating!

AngeChica · 06/06/2009 22:11

Thanks for the support messages ladies, small matter compared to what some of you are going through I know but it really helps.

Home alone again tonight. We took a spin up to north Northumberland to see where DH was staying today. It was a really beautiful and remote place here. The area is apparently the place that inspired the writer of Postman Pat (Glendale for "Greendale")!

Lilyloo · 06/06/2009 22:33

Looks lovely Ange maybe one to remember for my camping trips!

OP posts:
Gingeme · 07/06/2009 13:57

Afternoon ladies . Just got back from swimming. Was very busy in the pool but we all had fun.
Going out for dinner this afternoon with my Dad and DH's Mum. Should be fun .
I have put some photos on of me when I was younger if you want a laugh have a look. Will put on fb too

LuckySalem · 07/06/2009 14:16

Oh its worked today so I'll send you all a msg :D

MM - Hope your all ok today. It must be very hard for all concerned

JKS - Yes Wrexham is exceedingly damp today Disguisting weather.

Simps - If she's a headbanger then a beanbag would probably come in usefull for that. If she does something you approve of and she starts headbanging put her on the beanbag and let her get over it? Just a thought.

Dog front. I've agreed with DP that we shouldn#t have a dog till we're done with childmaking but I think he's agreed that we can foster one on a short-term (2/3 weeks) basis.
Speaking of foster Hugo (the last kitten) went to his new home today. He's been renamed Ninja and boy does it suit him!! LOL.

Anyways - till the next time MN allows me on! Take care all.

simpson · 07/06/2009 20:34

Hi all

sorry no time for personals lots going on and not all good

Unfortunately M has now learnt to climb and climbed up the book case this morning

Both Dcs also fight over their plastic toy chairs and M can get on it but not off

She took a tumble this morning and cut her lip and has nose bleed (bad mummy ) but even that didn't deter her and she was back on chair 2mins later

JustKeepSwimming · 07/06/2009 20:46

LaT - definitely, lol!

Ange - how was last night??? Dh back now?

Lily - trying to talk DH into trying camping with the boys, not sure it's a great idea but hey want to give it a go....thinking suffolk for a short drive though.

Gingeme - loving the photos, lol

Lucky - agree re not getting a dog just yet. if you had one already of course you would cope but getting one and going through all the training, etc. with young ones is too much hard work for me! (oh and walking them in the cold, rain and dark of winter!)

Simps - similar here, lol. Dh away with T, comes back and sees H, first thing he sees is a big red mark on H's head. 'what happened?' He climbed up on the stool/pouffe we put in front of the tv to stop them getting too close, and fell off. landed on his head. was ok though but mark still there.
H has learnt to get on their chairs and to be careful getting off but doesn't always manage it.
Apart from dcs fighting & falling you ok?

all ok here, got cross with DH earlier but hey ho, prob just 'adjusting' to him coming home, i often find that after a few days 'peace'!

back to normal routine tomorrow.

Gingeme · 07/06/2009 22:07

Thanks JKS
Going for my ECG tommorrow afternoon. Got my swab test in the morning too .
Off to bed now. I have a busy day tommorrow.
Wishing you all peaceful nights xxx

madmouse · 08/06/2009 08:52

Gingeme thinking of you today - hope it is all innocent!!

Am back home actually got some sleep in my own bed - still knackered. DH has taken Nathan to cm but I am still off today. Friend coming round this morning and I am going to blitz house and do washing. We may be going back to Holland this week - have to see

Hope you all ok

xx

simpson · 08/06/2009 09:57

Gingeme - hope all goes well today.

LaTrucha · 08/06/2009 14:11

Hope all goes well today, Gingeme. Like the photos too! Especially the little school one. Very sweet! Also lovely pregnancy one.

Having a grr day here.

Had a barney with DP as I was up twice in the night with Sabela and then awake at 5am as per usual. The cooker broke and then...

Well basically I was annoyed as I haven't had even half an hour of 'me' time in months. Not even to have a bath. DH is really good at helping out but everything in the house and with the baby is ultimately my responsibility. If he plays with Sabela, that's 'helping me out'. It's not really on. I think he got the message.

And then cooker broke. S and I waited in for the electrician who came at 12. Hoooray! He stayed for an hour and ten minutes and charged us for an hour. I wish I hadn't given him a cup of tea for a tea break! Then he left, thinking he'd fixed it but it broke again immediately. So now waiting in again...

Next customer service got two out of three things wrong on their delivery and I had to wait in seperately for each one to be delivered and picked up. I've spent at lteast an hour on the phone with them and left it with them ringing back in '5 minutes' at 9.30 this morning.

One of those days. I just feel less able to take it in my stride than usual.

Madmouse - enjoy your day off!

JKS - I am absolutely with you on the 'adjusting' phase. DO you ever sneakily think it's easier without him there. Terrible...

Simpson - any news from H? Sorry about the bump.

Lily - are you off the ebaying ATM? Haven't had any news of bargains for a while!

OFf to clean the bathroom and hopefully to feel better.

Gingeme · 08/06/2009 18:17

Thankyou LaT the pregnant one was some profesional ones we had done because it was meant to be our last baby I actually got the photographer off here. She wanted to make her portfolio bigger. She came to our house to do the photos.
Well I had my swab this morning. Results back in a week and my ECG this afternoon. Googled the results and I may have slight disease in the front of my heart Not going to panic just yet till all the results are in. Blood test for various things this Friday.
Wow madmouse seems like alot of toing a frowing for you. I love giving my flat a good blitz every now and then. Clears the mind.
Simpson scary isn't it when they climb? I just leave George to it now. If he falls its tough
Definately easier to get on with stuff without DH most times. Though it is when he is around I do most of my 'blitzing' Wouldn't ask him to do it he moans enough when I ask him to do the hoovering
Just had a very stressful trip to Asda. Told ds3 if he was good he could get a toy. He hit ds4 twice and so I told him 'no toy' cue screaming, shouting, throwing on floor and kicking He moaned all the way round. Sat him on the floor at the end of the till where he was still moaning. The cashier asked what was wrong. I explained and she said 'well done you'
Right DH cooking dinner tonight and has just called us to wash hands.
See you later. xxx

Lilyloo · 08/06/2009 19:56

Evening all laptop battery died so am trying to charge it in the car during the day so sporadic mnetting!

LaT i am currently trying to find ebay camping bargains have had a couple this week

Am still concerned here about M and this tongue buisness. Every time she says or tries to say anything she literally sticks her tongue out so much so all her chin is really sore!

Have just renewed TC hope it is ok , always dread getting the new award afterwards

This time with lo's is so hard. They can't communicate too well , no sense of danger. Is is just so wearing and as you say LaT no time away is really hard. Even ten mins for a bath or to go to the toilet by yourself!

Gingeme hope it isn't anything too serious good on you not panicking ahead of a diagnosis.

MM hope being at home helps a little.

OP posts:
simpson · 08/06/2009 20:05

Lilyloo - renewed TC here today too. First one with just my name on

Also had to sign declaration and post it to them saying I am telling truth about circumstances etc.

Molly very big on climbing now. I am in kitchen cooking or somehing and I hear "down" and just know she has climbed up on something

At least she doesn't attempt to get down by herself now but the problem is when whatever she is on topples over or something....

Quick question:

Does anyone know the difference between barley and oats?

M intolerant to oats but has been eating barley and now poo not normal again, just wondering if they are in the same family/similar iyswim.
