Hi girls, thought I would start a new thread as DD2 is one on Thursday .

Can you believe a whole year has passed already?

HM LOL at your little independent DS...I know what you mean. DD2 is v cute but also getting v independent. I do a mix of spoon feeding and finger feeding (I know not BLW as such). She is thankfully a very clean eater like her sister...it must be genetic!
I know people will slate me for this, but I really couldn't cope with all that mess. My days are demanding enough!

Joking aside, the latest version of Christopher Green's 'Toddler Taming' is brilliant.

Big news in the lucky household...DD2 took 3 steps on her own today!!! So she may well be proper walking before her birthday (you've got 2 days DD2....no pressure!)

Still no sign of chicken pox.....

Wow, well done name change LM or should it be LP?

Where in the New Forest did you book, we're only down road!

Been out with friend for 'gig' at local pub, got back to inlaws, well 2 BILs and 2SIL visiting for BIL's 30th kiresurfing weekend. Pissing me off already, but that's probably only the sleep deprivation and red wine talking. Have a good weekend all x

Boonnomanom · 03/10/2009 11:27

Happy wet & windy weekend!!

Thanks NN, we'r not sure where she came in contact with the german measles as she doesnt go to any clubs or anything.. she almost 10months so hasnt had her mmr yet. She seems to be all better now so we will see her today at my cousins pfb 1st bday party. My cousin is pulling out all the stops for this party and suffering for already, she broke down on the phone to my gran on tuesday about how stressful it all is. She's not coping at all with being a working mum and its made her PND even worse - poor girl.

LP Hot Tub scandal is shocking!!

DP has stopped acting brave by suffering on just paracetamol(sp) and has asked the doctor for the strong painkillers. Why do men always overact the trivial things like colds and under act the actual sore things like surgery

Boo x

Niknak21 · 03/10/2009 13:16

Poor Cousin Boo (love the new name) hope the party goes well. It's a shame when us Mums put so much pressure on ourselves, the baby won't remember his/her birthday but your cousin will remember the stress.

And what's this about hot tub scandal LP?? Have I missed something.....

Niknak21 · 03/10/2009 13:17

OK just reread about hot tub Poor MIL LP

thefortbuilder · 03/10/2009 21:47

just adding this on to get it active again.

hi everyone. I'll read all the posts soon and get back up to speed as soon as I can.

HM can you email me please? are you ok?

luckypumpkin74 · 04/10/2009 20:47

Where is monkeysmama??? I'm worried about her as last time she posted she was a bit down with lack of sleep problems....are you there MM?? niknak we are going to Milford on Sea I think, the Shorefields place??

Niknak21 · 05/10/2009 06:29

LP Let us know what it's like, I want to get DH to have some time off, was thinking Centre Parcs, but other options are good to know, especially ones that aren't too much of a trek.

Will check if MM has posted anywhere else, hopefully she's just busy..

Looking forward to a less sleep deprived Monday than last week

Niknak21 · 05/10/2009 06:34

She's alive! And looking active on the style threads, so that's ok.

baiyu · 05/10/2009 10:05

Thanks for all the congrats! About to head off to stay at a cousins then fly to Paris tuesday morning, hooray! Just 4 days, self cater appt.
Will catch up when I'm back. Loving married life and my wedding was amazing! Loved every minute

luckypumpkin74 · 05/10/2009 11:00

niknak I love that...'active on the style threads'.....very MM!!!! Glad she's OK.

Will let you know what Shorefields is like. It comes highly recommended by one of my friends who now refuses to holiday anywhere else!!! It's very family friendly apparently. Quite reasonable too, we have paid £230 for 5 days in a bungalow with two bedrooms and a hot tub on the vernanda!!!! CP's was outlandishly expensive!! I think you have to book early now to get good deals. If you book within a week of going to Shorefields you get 25% off the price. We booked ours early as there was only one bungalow left that suited our needs and we didn't want to risk losing out.

Baiyu Had a look at your wedding pics on FB and you looked lovely, although far too slim for someone who has had a baby !! Hope you enjoy Paris....it's lovely. Is DS going with you? He looked so cute in his kilt!!

Just been to Asda to get the girls little pumpkin dressing up outfits. We're going to have a Halloween party for her cousins.

Off to work in a bit. Got the period from hell.....like a bloody tap , sorry if TMI!!!

monkeysmama · 05/10/2009 11:38

Hey girls

Here I am! Made me feel all warm you'd been thinking of me

Life is a bit tough at the moment & posting random nonsense about my brand of sunglasses & search for the perfect leather skirt is the mindless thoughts I've needed.

As I mentioned, my dad's been really ill (he has an aggressive form of the big C ) & we (me & dd) have been staying with him 4 or 5 nights a week after his treatment to help out (he's single) Dd is still teething & although she's sleeping 7-2 now she has started waking 4 or more times from 2-6. Dp blames it on us being at my dad's which maybe true but after long thought right now we have to be there. I am just trying to keep everything as normal as possible but it's tough at the moment & though I read our thread every day I sometimes just want to forget rl. I am fine though - it'll all be ok soon I am sure.

Right - off for a shower then trip to the park before going to dad's again so best go but promise to post again soon & you'll all be the first to know if I'm not ok

hugs

mm

Mitchell81 · 05/10/2009 12:03

Monkeysmama Good to hear from you, sorry things are still tough for you and your dad. Fingers crossed things start to improve soon. Sending you (((((((((((HUGS))))))))))))

Flick Nice to see you again

LP Your holiday sounds nice, enjoy

Baiyu Agree you looked beautiful and DS was very cute. Loved how you had him with you during your wows. Enjoy Paris, very romantic, hope the 3 of you enjoy it. Will you go to Disney?

Boo How did the stressful 1st birthday go? Hope DP is getting better after his OP.

Niknak hope the weekend improved.

It is my DD 9th Birthday today, I am feeling so old and where have the years gone.

Harimo Are you getting more sleep? How are you?

Fuzzy Happy Birthday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Harimosbroomstick · 05/10/2009 17:15

Hi,

Just a quick post from me. I've been up with my family for the last week, which has made me both and - because we had a lovely time and because it really brings it home how lonely I am here.. Now, I'm not saying I want to be near my parents and family full time, but a little closer would be nice!

Anyway, we had a lovely time and it was BIL's 40th on Sunday, so we had a big party on Saturday (and I had - for once - babysitters AKA Gran and Grandad! ). It is lovely to see haribo running around with my dad. I was extremely close to my granddad (my dad's dad) and I can see the same thing with my kids and my dad.

Baiyu - You did look gorgeous. Your dress was stunning (though, I'm with LM - You are fabulously slim!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ) have a wonderful honeymoon!

Mitchell - Hope you are doing well and enjoyed DD's birthday.

Flick - Sorry I haven't been in touch. WIll mail you now.

LM - Thanks for the package. it's lovely and the pumpkin t-shirt will be perfect for our haloween party. Haribo has some skeleton PJs which I think are the coolest thing ever!!

MM - really sorry that times are tough for you. I agree completely that you want to be there for your dad, but perhaps one of your sisters could give you a bit of a break. Sounds like you are doing an AWFUL lot aTM. Did you get my mail? I did write you!!

Fuzzy Happy birthday, you bloody yougster! You are 10 years younger than me

Well, best get on.

Niknak21 · 05/10/2009 18:17

Would love to see Baiyu's photos, would someone send me a friend suggestion on FB?

Knackered this eve after singing class and trip to soft play with friend, DS1 wet himself twice , something he's not done for months. Just about to run their bath, hooray!

luckypumpkin74 · 06/10/2009 07:13

Niknak I'm so sorry but I think you are one of my FB friends but I can't always remember who is who . Damn nicknames!!! I know HM and Mitchell, Umm, is flick L.P.??? and niknak are you the one who uses their husband's page?? If so, I will send you a friend suggestion for Baiyu. MM are you on FB??
Sorry to hear things are so tough for you, sounds hard. Sending you hugs too ((((((((())))))))

Niknak21 · 06/10/2009 07:21

LP yes, I can't be arsed to set up my own page!

Boonnomanom · 06/10/2009 12:40

The party went quite well thanks mitchell, but the bday boy was on fire! He spent his bday at the doctor and it turns out the reason for his fever is a ear & throat infection, here's hoping that no-one from the party gets ill now.
DP is recovery nicely thanks. He is moaning more about his rib (he cracked it the week before his op) than his wound.

Happy Bday to Mitchell jr and belated to Fuzzy

Dd seems to have stretched over the weekend, all of her dresses are upto her bottom now - shopping trip needed I think! I just bought her a gorgeous wee witch dress at the weekend so will need to make sure its still ok for size

Hope everyone is well
Loving the halloween names

Just a quick one from me. I'm on the scout for some ideas.

Every year since I've been with DH, we've had DSDs at New Year. Consquently, we always stay in. This year, we've just been informed that they are going skiing.... So, it's just us for New year... So we can do whatever we like!!!

So, what could we do with the two little ones?

i quite fancy skiing too... Haribo loved it last year and mimi won,t be too much ounger than he was...

luckypumpkin74 · 07/10/2009 18:54

sorry HM I can't really offer any suggestions as for me, new year with 2 small children would be spent staying in at home but having friend's over for dinner or something. Skiing would not be an option for me! If you are happy to take the two littlies then go for it, it would be brilliant!!

NIKNAK, I will just do a request for Baiyu for you.

LP x

Harimosbroomstick · 08/10/2009 09:31

Thanks LP - Haribo has your DD1's jeans on today... they look fab on him and will do Mimi in time too! THankyou!

Still not sure about New Year. Looked at NYC yesterday... the flights work out OK as both the kids can travel on our laps, but the hotel is fully booked (yes, I know I could look at other hotels, but I like the one we've always stayed at and not ready to try something new at New year with two small kids in tow!) so that doesn't look like a great option. Skiing, in all honesty, is just too expensive at new year.. We'd be far better off going one week in January - it's not like we are going to be going out on the lash!!!

Maybe we will just stay at home!!!

Right, off to the gym!! [eeek emoticon!]

monkeysmama · 08/10/2009 14:49

Hi girls

HM we're going away on NYDay & the prices we've looked at so far drop massively from NYE onwards. We'll spend NYE with friends with kids having nice meal with fireworks for the kids (hate them myself by dp can't celebrate without a rocket or ten)

Ok here. Just got home after 4 nights with dad. Dp is coming home early so we are taking dd across road to our local Japanese for dinner. I am tired but dd slept through (well as near as damn it) (is that the saying??) 3 nights so am happier. Back to dad's tomorrow then home Saturday & Sunday

LM you asked weeks ago whether we're still cosleeping. She goes to bed at 630-7 in her own bed (& room at home but travel cot at my dad's) and I put her back there when she's asleep after she wakes up in the night. Occasionally we fall asleep together in night (I'm still bfing her) so sometimes we sleep together but it isn't the norm. She's happy with it.

Finally the sun is out! Going to pop across road to the little park now.

Take care everyone

MM

luckypumpkin74 · 08/10/2009 19:26

DH took DD1 to the dentist today....we have to try and stop her sucking her thumb :-(

LP x

Niknak21 · 09/10/2009 07:34

MM good to see you survived the week. Thinking of you x

LP I really wouldn't worry about thumb sucking at 3. I had a chat with an orthodontist at wedding a few years ago (newly qualified) and they think it's best not to worry until later because of the phycological (sorry can't spell) harm it can do! I'm sticking to that one anyway. DS2 has a wrinkled left thumb from all the thumb sucking he does. He found it at 10 weeks and we were very pleased .

Niknak21 · 10/10/2009 07:48

Had a little story about DS2 starting to talk.

We were at Sing and Sign and they have a cat called Jessie who plays peek a boo in a box, after she gets handed around for a cuddle with each child. When it was DS2's turn he gets her in a head lock and an aahh, then waves and says bye bye. I thought it was v cute. I think it could've said more it would've been 'come on Mum we've got the cat lets make a run for'.

Got parents here this weekend, they've just bought a flat down here. Off out for dinner tonight and no huge babysitting costs, yay!

Have a good weekend all, we have blue sky at the mo, hope it continues....

baiyu · 10/10/2009 23:16

Hello! I'm ba-ack! Had a lovely time in Paris but wish we'd had some childcare! DS is a bad sleeper at the best if times . In one room it wasn't very romantic! Not much sleep and not for the right reasons! Still, it was lovely, nice and warm too.

Glad you like the photos, will get some more up when we have some, just our friends ones so far, we have some on a CD but my CD drive is broken so haven't seen them yet. DS was with us for our vows but not on purpose! Finn kicked up such a fuss during my vows that I had to pick him up and start again! To the exclusion of all others?! Hmmph!

Mitchell we didn't go to disney, didn't really fancy it (even though we could have gone for free! good friend works there), maybe when DS is a bit bigger, I think he'd just have been intimidated (or maybe that's just me!)

Hoping not to be slim much longer! We've decided to start TTC Sleep's overrated.

Niknak I think I've ust added you, hope it's you/your DH anyway! Cute story.

fuzzy belated happy birthday!

haribo Hope you find something fun to do for NYE. WITH CHILDCARE!
