Hi girls, thought I would start a new thread as DD2 is one on Thursday .

Can you believe a whole year has passed already?

HM LOL at your little independent DS...I know what you mean. DD2 is v cute but also getting v independent. I do a mix of spoon feeding and finger feeding (I know not BLW as such). She is thankfully a very clean eater like her sister...it must be genetic!
I know people will slate me for this, but I really couldn't cope with all that mess. My days are demanding enough!

Joking aside, the latest version of Christopher Green's 'Toddler Taming' is brilliant.

Big news in the lucky household...DD2 took 3 steps on her own today!!! So she may well be proper walking before her birthday (you've got 2 days DD2....no pressure!)

Still no sign of chicken pox.....

HM Can you please send the FB details of LM to me please? Thats if LM wants me as a friend

I agree we have a wooden table and a plastic one and the wooden one is much better for when lo tries to climb onto the chair by themselves, I am so surprised he hasn't fallen off.

Mitchell81 · 03/09/2009 13:19

Too late, have added you. Thanks HM

LM I don't know whether you should ask MN to delete your msg as it has your RL name(With the whole DM stuff going on)?

Harimosmummy · 03/09/2009 13:24

What is going on with the daily mail?

Mitchell81 · 03/09/2009 13:34

They are printing peoples posts in the newspaper. I doubt our little May 2008 thread would feature.

Niknak21 · 03/09/2009 15:10

LM I'm a dentist, so understand your NHS/private dilemma. Need to get back into work to pay for nursery! Although I did nurse for DH last Friday since it was that or cancel his day. My parents were staying for our night away on Sunday.

I will add you on FB, although I only use my DH's, too lazy to set up my own now. He only looks at it when I tell him there's something on there to look at. And also you have to the same surname as my not so beloved SIL, scary!

The Daily Mail stuff seems all a bit strange. I think our thread is far too tame. I did read some of the thread from MNHQ, but then had to get back to RL. I think it's just a lazy journalist, or has MN actually 'gone in' with her? We all know anyone could read this though so things being in a paper only make it more accessible to some people, like my Grandparents!

Hope you're all managing to avoid the rain, my washing's having another wash!

Niknak21 · 03/09/2009 15:22

Just been on FB and did the request. My Dad is one of our friends, but he never looks on it. My brother also is a friend but refuses to use it he calls it arsebook, lovely boy! I like it for the piccie sharing.

monkeysmama · 04/09/2009 09:56

Thanks for mentioning that DM stuff Mitchell. I just had a look at the "on Mumsnet" column in the DM on line or whatever it is called and am really unhappy about it. I've voted against it in the MN poll but wonder if it is too late.

DP's off up north for a stag do for the weekend in a while. He's taken dd swimming first. I am going to stay with my mum as it is her birthday and am cooking the special meal before the quest to make the new me look more like the old me starts!

HM your post about loving being a mummy made me smile. I love it too and can't believe I waited so long to get started! I am still planning on waiting another year or so for my next one - I am a little too in love obsessed with dd still I think. I was talking to an old friend from work the other day and she was saying how surprised she is that I have given up my job and really want to be a SAHM. She has 2 LOs and is gagging to get back to work for her sanity.

I am wondering whether to have a night out without dd this evening. I am supposed to be going out with a close girlfriend who has 3 kids including a ds the same age as dd. Problem is out nights out always used to involve lots of drinking and I just don't want to do it anymore. I can't really be othered to go and in lots of ways I'd prefer to hang out with my mum and dd but I am spending the whole weekend there and it might do me good to get out. I suppose it is because I haven't one back to work but I still feel a bit naked when I am out without dd.

Right - nice long shower before the gang return!

Have a good weekend everyone.

MM

shonnomanom · 04/09/2009 11:46

Hi everyone
Hope everyone is well

Iv been having a laugh at all the babes on the phone comments. Dd's favourite 'phone' is a harmonica and has just recently, by accident, discovered that it makes a noise when she blows on it. So now she blows on everything, just to check

Still only a handfull of words here, but her babble is getting more clearer iykwim

Im on fb too, here is my page

We got an amzing surprise yesterday when my brother and his gf returned home for Oz 2 weeks early! They had tricked us into thinking that they were leaving Oz on Monday to go to Thailand for 2weeks on their way back, when actually they left Oz 2weeks ago! So needless to say the family is still in , but its great to have them home again. Although they will be busy getting introduced to the 7 new babies in the family that have arrived while they were away.

Sho x

Ps hm your dd is gorgeous

Harimosmummy · 04/09/2009 13:42

Thanks sho - I can't get your link to work though... It just goes to my home page??

Amazing about your brother.... I'd never be able to keep a secret like that!!

MM - I really empathise with the going out thing - I don't like being without the kids now either. I don't think I'd enjoy a night out drinking when my kids are home... (I know, it's a bit sad)

Nothing new here.

I've added more photos on FB...

And I'm off to cuddle Mimi now.

fuzzypeach · 04/09/2009 20:23

Gosh I havent been on here for ages!!! ive just read back and have already forgotten whats been said and who said what!!

MM - I feel the same in the in-love-obsessed with dd2 - which is weird for me coz i didnt have that with dd1 (bad PND) but am loving being a mummy at the moment, and hate being without her!!
are you on fb? i'm here here

HM - your piccies are so cute, I want to see more on FB please!!!! Also, I felt exactly the same very soon after giving birth to both mine - sooo broody!! I bet you have another one at some point.....

LM - had a quick look at your sisters wedding pics on FB - you all look gorgeous!! How did your bootcamp work? Details please!! Also, your sisters dress....my friend has just bought the same one from Monsoon in the sale after I found it and made her try it on and she fell in love with it!!

NikNak - bad luck about the job I hope it works out with setting up your own practice at home?

Mitchell - how was your time away for DH birthday?

Sorry, i know I have forgotten people, mind has gone blank!!

Well what to report here?...

DD1 starting school next wednesday!!!!! I cant believe my little baby is about to turn 5 (a week on Sunday) and start school! I am nervous for her as she is hard work and I think she may struggle to fit in and also adjust to the fact she used to rule the roost at nursery and it is not going to be like that at school.... She cant wait though, so hopefully her enthusiasm and positive attitude with do her good!

DD2 doing great - she wont walk anywhere just RUNS!!! But is still a bit unsteady so I do worry when she charges off everywhere! She is still very very clingy to me, and just gets so upset if I leave the room! Dh and I just been to Paris for 3 days on our own for our anniversary, and it is the longest I have left her for..she was not happy with me when we got back and if I even walked a meter away from her she became distraught!!! I felt awful!!

Words....
Mummeeeeeeeee (mummy)
Ninny (Lilly, DD1)
Banny (Her Bunny that goes everywhere with her)
Baby
Mik (milk)
Bye Bye
Hiya!
shoooo (shoes!)

And she sings "Row Row Row" for row the boat, "Do-do-do-do" for do-re-me (sound of music) and also "cuckoo-cuckoo" for the song the kids sing on the stairs in the sound of music!! So cute!!
She tells me what she wants by pointing and grunting in despair at things!!

Work for me is still not great - I have applied for another job - at a nursery school which is opening this week - they had already employed there first batch of staff though, but when the children numbers grow they are going to employ more so Im hoping they consider my application, as although the money is rubbish, I can take DD2 with me, (I have massive seperation anxiety issues when im at work at the mo!! Plus not too happy with her current nursery at the moment) and I would get a discount on her childcare - plus having looked round the nursery it is fantastic and if i could afford to send her there anyway I wouldnt hestitate!! A friend has got a job there and they are also paying for her to go to college to get the qualifications - which would help towards some experience for me when I finally get round to doing a degree in primary education... fingers crossed!

Sorry have gone on a bit, as usual!! Hope everyone is well!

xx

fuzzypeach · 04/09/2009 20:26

mitchell my play was for a theatre, it's getting a rehearsed reading on friday, eek! Still no childcare organised, double eeek.

monkeysmama good luck with the new regime, more swimming sounds good. I really miss swimming, I go with DS sometimes but it's not the same when you can't let a small person go! Thanks for the website, that's a great idea. My friend who's a designer is making mine actually (yes I am very lucky!) This is her here. She's made presents for michelle obama, carla bruni and jk rowling to date, very clever lady! (and my best friend)

HM good luck for going back to uni, brave lady! I'm so impressed.
We have this chair for DS froggy which was a christmas present and he totally loves it. We have a table that's the right size and he has refused to sit in his highchair for about a month now in favour of his chair.

This has taken me forever to type as DS is in my arms and just wants to rub noses So in love.

fuzzy that sounds like an ideal job! Fingers crossed for you.

shonnomanom · 06/09/2009 11:18

Morning All!

Feeling very strange this morning as dd never woke us until 0945 and she only started complaining because she dropped her dummy out the cot. I cant remember the last time I slept that long.

HM that is strange about the link I am now on LMs fb, you can find me there.
Its a running joke in my family that im no good at keeping secrets so its especially funny that everyone's initial reactions were that I must of been in on their surprise! Think it might have something to do with the fact that I used to work in travel .. dunno.

Hope everyone is well.
DD & I currently have a cold. DP is staying well clear of us terrified that he will get it. He is going in for a hernia op in 2weeks so his behaviour is understandable I guess

Sho x

Harimosmummy · 08/09/2009 06:31

Just a quickie from me.

Sho - thanks for therequest. I have no clue what I was doing wrong!!! Hope your DP has avoided the cold... I'm sure he'll be fine. Hernias are usually pretty straighforward to sort out, I think. [fingers crossed]

Flick says hi to veryone... She is having problems logging on to MN to post but is with us in spirit!!!

No news here reall.... Enrolled at uni yesterday so I'm officially a lazy waster student

baiyu - Have you got DS sorted for Friday? Hope it goes well.

Fuzzy - that job sounds ideal.. i think you would be brilliant at it and it would really reduce your stress about DD2. Keeping my fingers crossed for you!!!!

Haribo needs his mummy so I'd better go.

monkeysmama · 09/09/2009 11:31

Hey girls

Had 3 teeth in 3 days and 2 more coming thru so a very quick post from me - I am so exhausted, knackered and tired! Dd screams everytime I put her down let alone appetmpt to leave the rom. Poor little lamb.

Hope everyone is doing well.

Harimosmummy · 09/09/2009 22:30

Well, congratulations LD74... We're still trying to sort out Harimosdaddy (not easy when he doesn't actually live in the uk!!)

ES is a friend suggestion I sent you. I will send clarification on FB (sounds very grand doen't it!!)

baiyu · 09/09/2009 22:37

Hey all,
No not sorted at all and totally freaking out, it's a really big deal and I just can't find anyone to look after DS, heeeeelp!

Apart from that we're all good.

Poor old luckydaddy, hope he heals soon, glad it wasn't another false start. Withing you both a spontaneous future!

Ooh, and sorry if TMI but my periods finally came back!! Took forever (and some of us have even had more babies in that time! ) and I was getting pretty worried so pretty happy all appears to be woking after all! Plew.

Hope everyone is doing well.

fuzzypeach · 10/09/2009 20:04

hi just marking this for later, got an early start tomorrow, start work at 4am so need to go to bed!
well done luckydaddy! and well done harimo...i have a lot of admiration for you enrolling at uni with 2 little ones UNDER 2!!!!

x

luckymummy74 · 11/09/2009 22:37

Yeah I would second that HM. I think you must be supermum!!! Luckydaddy is healing nicely !!

Feeling a bit gutted tonight as I went to the private hospital for a chat (very informal interview) about the potential new job. It was all sounding amazing.....until they talked about pay. They can't match what I earn on the NHS, which really suprised me with them being private....but anyway....it could be as much as 25% less than what I earn now . It's already 8 days less annual leave a year, and the pension isn't as good. I just don't know what to do. I'm not being greedy with money, we simply couldn't pay our bills if I earnt 25% less. But the job is perfect in every other way . The only slight ray of light, is that the manager is very keen to have me on the team, so she can try and negotiate more money, but she didn't sound too hopeful.

Why is nothing straight forward?

Baiyu, how about you set up Finn on a webcam and all the FML's can look after him on line?!! Seriously, hope you get something sorted.

I'm doing a 'starlight' walk tomorrow night, 10 miles at midnight! Wish me luck!!

LM xxx

OP posts:
Harimosmummy · 12/09/2009 13:32

LM - sorry to hear about the pay... I'm really surprised too. The people I know who work privately are all on more money than they would be on the NHS (or so they tell me!!) and my Dsis is a dentist and def. earns alot more from private work than she used to on the NHS. Hope you manage to agree an increase. HUGE good luck for tonight. You will have a GREAT time I'm sure!!!

Baiyu - How did it go Friday? I really empathise about childcare... I really struggle with ad hoc childcare and it's a nightmare

Fuzzy - Any news on the job?

Mitchell - How are you?

Niknak - glad you enjoyed the wedding... Did your DSs look super cute? I love kids all togged out for weddings!!!

I don't feel like supermum most of the time! More like knackered mum!!! Between running around after Haribo and Mimi as well as DSD1 and DSD2... I actually quite enjoy the coursework (only reading and research at the mo) as it gives me something to think about and it also reminds me that this time I have with my babies will pass so quickly and that reminds me to enjoy it!!! ... In two years, I'll be qualified and my tiny precious babies will be at pre school!!!

Mimi is doing really well. She had her 6 week check on Friday and is spot on!! I got my first big grin from her this morning which was gorgeous!!! She has to have a hip scan on Wednesday as she was breach but I think it will be fine.

mm - what part of London are you in? I'm back at the portland on Wednesday morning and am going to take the kids to Regents park or the zoo after that.. If you are about, we could meet up for a coffee?

Is anyone struggling with loading this page? Flick has had a few problems with it going really slowly, so not sure if it's worth starting a new thread?

Well, nothing else from me... Mimi is (once again!) asleep on me. I'm going to take her to the osteopath next week, as I'm really desperate for her to sleep in her moses basket or cot but she seems to really struggle lying flat out... I've got to get it sorted, though, because otherwise MY back is going to give out!! It's constant pain at the mo... and I really couldn't cope if it went again!!

Oh, just finally... Am taking DH to see a gorgeous house today, so fingers crossed!!! I've already offered the asking price for it but I think it's going to go for more than that

HM x

luckymummy74 · 15/09/2009 09:18

HM any luck with the house?

Where has everyone gone?!!!

LM has a cold......sniff [feeling sorry for self smiley]

OP posts:
luckymummy74 · 16/09/2009 19:25

Seriously, where are you all? I even checked to see if another thread had been started that I didn't know about??!!

Feeling pants today. Still feel rough in myself and DD2 is driving me crazy!!!! To say 'into everything' is a massive understatement. She is doing my head in, in all the cupboards (we never used cupboard locks with DD1 and seemed to cope OK) and climbing up on the kitchen table the minute my back is turned.....other little delights are throwing her food on the floor or actually turning her nose up and turing away if she doesn't like the look of it....'hitting' me in the face when I tell her off and laughing.....I am driven to distraction with the child. Thank the Lord DD1 goes to playgroup in the afternoon and DD2 sleeps then or I think I would be turning into an alcoholic!!!!

I am dreading this weekend. DH is going away with 2 friends to Newcastle. Not a stag do, just for fun . One friend is single and always after a quick shag and the other s in a very long term relationship but regularly cheats on his lovely girlfriend . I know they will just be surrounded by women all weekend. I trust DH and I know he wouldn't cheat on me but I'm feeling really that I will be home for 3 full days on my own while he is partying. I wouldn't mind as much if I didn't feel so rough. My tolerance is v low. My parents and siblings are all busy all weekend or I would have escaped to theirs!!

I've said it before and I will say it again, but HM I really do not know how you do it.....I am in awe of you. I'm shitting myself about 3 days on my own and you do this all the time....(do you have a nanny?)

Anyway, on a lighter note, one of my BFF's is coming tomorrow, she lives in USA now so I only see her once a year. Her DD is same age as DD2. (I trained with her and Denny amongst others at uni).

Sorry for the rant.....I know I have itgood compared to most but I am just feeling so pants this week.
