Hi girls, thought I would start a new thread as DD2 is one on Thursday .

Can you believe a whole year has passed already?

HM LOL at your little independent DS...I know what you mean. DD2 is v cute but also getting v independent. I do a mix of spoon feeding and finger feeding (I know not BLW as such). She is thankfully a very clean eater like her sister...it must be genetic!
I know people will slate me for this, but I really couldn't cope with all that mess. My days are demanding enough!

Joking aside, the latest version of Christopher Green's 'Toddler Taming' is brilliant.

Big news in the lucky household...DD2 took 3 steps on her own today!!! So she may well be proper walking before her birthday (you've got 2 days DD2....no pressure!)

Still no sign of chicken pox.....

Hey!

I'm still here - but have no clue where every one else is!!

Mimi had her hip scan today and all was good - we had a riot in Regents park afterwards. I love just wandering round the parks in London. It's easy to forget they are there, but they are so gorgeous!

LM - Your DD2 sounds just like Haribo... I have the entire kitchen child-proofed... He's into EVERYTHING!!! He also chucks food on the floor (I have found the best way to deal with it is to not react at all... or act like it's perfectly natural to throw half your dinner on the floor), won't eat anything he doesn't like the look of and is generally a little bugger!
You will be fine for the weekend... I suppose you just get used to being alone. It doesn't really bother me that much anymore. I did have a nanny one day a week but I've just given her her notice... Long story, but I think I'll fine on my own.

I do feel for you with your DH going away with two -scallywags-- mates... I tend not to ask what DH gets up to (like you, I trust him implicitly) but some of the photos are a bit ... especially the ones from Russia.......... Like the time they went on a fishing trip, got drunk and started shooting the fish (they all carried guns out there). SOmetimes it's better to live in ignorance!!!!!

fuzzypeach · 16/09/2009 21:41

Hello! I am here, intermittently!!

LM - you will be fine dont worry, I bet you can cope a lot better than you give credit for, and you will feel so proud of yourself by the time he is home!! And your DD2 sounds just like mine - I never bothered with cupboard locks with DD1 but could not manage without them this time!
Bad news about the job, I hope they can offer you somthing that you could afford.
Hope you feel better soon!

HM - glad Mimi's hip scan went well! No news on the job for me, they never bothered to reply! My friend who got a job said I should email them to check they got my application, which I did last fri, but they didnt even reply to that! How rude!!

Hope everyone else is ok, we are all fine, DD1 started school last week, all went well!

x

luckymummy74 · 17/09/2009 09:52

fuzzy that's v rude about the job!

Thanks for your nice comments and support girls. Feel a bit better today and bought myself a nice pizza to have for dinner Sat night (got some friends from work coming over Fri night for take away!!).

HM glad the hip scan was OK.

Better go....my friend will be here soon!!

Hi girls

I am back! Been dealing with bad teething for over a week & have not had more than 2 hours consecutive sleep for weeks. Been to A&E 6 times but she's ok - random rashes & high temperatures which then plummet (sp?)

Hm sorry didn't see your message in time. I'm over other side of London but I love Regents Park. Shall we get organised & arrange to meet in a few weeks? My email is [email protected] Glad Mimi's ok too. That's my ds' name. Beautiful.

LM sorry to read you sounding down. I actually really enjoy it when dp goes away but I only have dd & am an anti social hermit at heart. Are your siblings busy all we? If you knew you could have few hours to yourself (or at least time for a shower in peace) it might help?

I also have a monkey who is into everything. No chance her throwing food though - if it's within reach she'll grab it and eat it (which has problems too!) I have yet to find something she doesn't like. Black olive tapanade is a current favourite - two nights ago at mum's she had a large handful out of the jar & in her mouth before I could react (dd not my mum! ) and ate it all before asking for more. She climbs everything too. We caught her hanging from a shelf a few weeks back & I have a brilliant photo of her in her nappy having climbed onto (? How?) our jukebox. Mad.

Are all our other fmbubbas role playing? Dd is super into it. She has an anatomically correct baby she has taken to bathing, eating & sleeping with/on and she talks to him & reads him stories etc. It's lovely to watch. Her favourite things are planes & cars (real ones) and she can spend ages stood at the window "driving" (brumming & rolling her hands to drive) and watching the cars. Odd child!

Better get some sleep now. I have aged 5 years in 3 weeks!

Thought about starting new thread (slow loads for me too) but apart from some kind of walking talking pun I couldn't think what to call it.

Take care girls
MM

Harimosmummy · 17/09/2009 13:38

Hi MM - Will send you a message now. Would be nice to meet up... It's horrid when the little ones are ill. Haribo had a temperature for about 3 days and then suddenly it shot down - he went quite grey and I was on the verve of calling an ambulance . he recovered again so quickly, but it was scary to watch!!

Fuzzy - that's really rude of the nursery and I would def. call them about your application. Be nice and polite, but do call them!!

LM - I am sure you will have a super weekend. Friends and pizza is a good combination!!!

Haribo loves role play... In fact, he has to copy what I do at pretty much every opportunity - he hoovers like me... Brushes my hair, feeds me food , drives the car (woburn safari park is great for this as it's a private estate so haribo can sit in the front and 'drive'!). Haribo also has an anatomically correct baby to play with... She is called Mimi . He 'washes' her in the bath, and tries to feed her her bottle. He also like to 'kiss' her (which involves bashing her on the head!!). She seems to take it all in her stride!!

haribo had a modelling job this morning - he is so cool!!!! Can't believe I have such a cool son!!!

Mitchell - How are you? Haven't heard from you for a while? I guess you are pretty busy!!

Baiyu - 2 weeks - Your wedding date has come around so quickly!!! I hope you are all sorted for it - you will have a great time!!

OK, better stop rambling and go and get some work done!!

Hm x

Mitchell81 · 17/09/2009 14:45

Hello, been reading. Just not got anything interesting to say. DS2 is very busy copying everything we say.

Baiyu Two weeks how exciting, can't wait to see photos. Your little family will make a beautiful bridal party.

HM Thanks for asking. How did the photoshoot go today?

Fuzzy Hope you hear back from the nursery definetley would be a good job for you especially with DD1 at school and DD2 going with you.

LM Hope you have a nice weekend with your friends and hope the time without DH goes ok. It will go so quickly being with your two.

Monkeysmama Glad to hear that DD is feeling better, horrible when they are sick.

My 3 all have some form of cold/temp at the moment. But boys are definetley more grumpy than DD though.

fuzzypeach · 17/09/2009 20:25

We have roleplaying here too - its so cute to watch! Feeding her doll, putting her in cot to sleep with blanket etc etc, it makes me all warm and fuzzy watching haha - also I watched in the night garden with her and dd1 this afternoon and they were both dancing, dd2 was copying dd1 stood behind her it was so cute!!

Im a bit unsure about hassling the nursery as maybe they just didnt like my application! I have just seen some xmas jobs online at John Lewis & M&S which who I wouldnt mnd working for (spend enoughtime/money in there!!!) and they are nearer to my house, thinking could take on an xmas job and keep on my job - then hope the xmas one keeps me on so i can quit my curent one....

Can I just ask, does anyone know anything about or have any views on hypnotherapy? Im interested in it for weight loss.....

baiyu · 18/09/2009 15:20

hello girls, sorry to have been a bit slow on here, both DP and i have pretty broken laptops, such a bugger that they're both dying at the same time. Mine is painfully slow and DP's got covered in water I spilt is having issues. I've come up North to my mums for a few days which is a nice break. Just watching DS feed the birds with my Dsis, can't wait til we have a garden! Going to a wedding on Skye tomorrow and leaving DS here That'll be a first. Really hope it goes well.

LM I love your webcam idea for watching DS! You'd all be like 'Finnie noooooo, oh too late, broken!" Tehe. DP managed to take the day off work in the end solving my childcare nightmare. I agree HM adhoc childcare is very hard!

mitchell hope your DCs are all better soon!

LM and fuzzy sorry for the disappointments on the job front.

HM well done haribo on all the modelling jobs!

DS is a total mountaineer too and my baby is currently sporting a black eye after a bad fall against the corner of a bed yesterday. he doesn't seem to notice it but it looks dreadful, a big cut and bruising all around the eye though thank goodness the eye itself is fine. Glad the wedding isn't tomorrow!

plans are going ok, lots still to do. having a wee hen do next weds and thurs (big gang of girls in a rented house for big meals and nonsense) then my mum is staying down til the wedding (only 5 days after that!) to help me get organised. haven't seen my dress yet but I have faith! Got a really lovely e-mail from my future SIL (DP''s brothers wife) yesterday which made me very teary, just very sweet and looking forward to there being another Mrs S. Such a contrast from the hatred and bitchyness coldness I get from my future MIL Oh well, I'm not marrying her!

Right, nappy to change! Big hello to all

baiyu · 18/09/2009 15:22

LM forgot to say, hope the weekend goes well. I know you are much more capable than you give yourself credit for. Hope you're feeling brighter now and have a wonderful time with your friend.

luckymummy74 · 18/09/2009 20:10

Hi all,

Thanks all so much for being so kind and supportive. I feel really pathetic, HM has it much harder than this all the time!!!

DH left at 11am and got to Newcastle at 6:30pm (why do they go so bloody far and spend all day travellling?!).

I'm realising that it's not him going away I have the problem with, just the people he's gone with...... Tarts. I was fine when he went on the stag do. I just don't like the blokes he's gone with and I think that's the difference.

Today not too bad. BFF went home about 2pm. The girls were knackered and slept. Then I took them shoe shopping thinking I needed something more than doodles for the Autumn. Why are shoes so expensive??!! Clarks have some lovely little red boots for DD2 but they are £34!!!!! I got them measured anyway and I'm about to do an ebay....

Just feel a bit lonely . My friends both cancelled tonight, one not well and the other's DH had his wisdom teeth out and he's in a bad way so she didn't want to leave him.

Fuzzy I had hypnotherapy for a dog phobia (was bitten as a child). It sort of worked. I'm definitely better than I was, still not 100% comfortable but nowhere near as jumpy around dogs now.

HM thanks for the kind offer of a meet up. I managed to book things for the whole weekend, seeing a friend tomorrow and then going to MIL's Sunday .

I'm sure I'll be on again tomorrow night but have a good Saturday everyone, and sorry to be so pathetic!!!!!!!

Hi LM - hope your weekend is going OK (and luckydaddy is having a good time too!)

Haribo has a cold at the moment and is finding it very hard to sleep or settle himself. He slept soundly from 5:30 till 7:30am last night... No joke... He was up bright as a button from 1am.... I'm sad to admit that I turned Thomas the Tank Engine on for him at around 4am.. And (though I think I may live to regret it) I was pleased I did, because - just as he went to sleep - Mimi woke up wanting a feed...

needless to say, we're not firing on all cylinders today and the main activity this morning was going out for breakfast

Fuzzy - I don't have any experience of hypnotherapy, but I have a friend who swears it helped her quit smoking..

Baiyu - You made me laugh with your 'webcam' childcare scenario... Given that Haribo once fell off the sofa when I was sitting right next to him I have no clue what mayhem could be caused with a bunch of FML's taking over an intercom to a 1YO!!!!!!

Well, that's all from me, I need to SLEEP and - as of just now - I have TWO sleeping children. PLease GOD, let it continue for more than an hour!!

MM - I sent you an e-mail.

Night, HM x

Mitchell81 · 20/09/2009 07:43

LM Hope last night was ok

Haribo Did Haribo sleep better last night? DS2 has a horrible hacking cough that sounds so sore, but other than that is fine.

We are off to take DS1 to see Ice age 3 and then to pizzahut for lunch with the family. It is a nice day again so will go for a walk along the beachfront aswell. Better use this sunshine

Baiyu Hope your night out went well without DS

Fuzzy Have heard via other people that Hynotherapy can work. But no one that I know personally. iykwim

I would be interested to find out aswell

shonnomanom · 20/09/2009 11:35

Happy Sunday Ladies!

Hope everyone is fine & dandy.

DD is also a mountaineer, explorer and a an avid cat & plane & helicopter watcher. She has started goin into the cupboard when she is hungry to get a bowl, then spits the food out or just flings it across the room. She has only once since last weekend had lunch.

Speaking of In The Night Garden, I know that if I stcik that on DD will just freeze on the spot and not move from their - 25mins to myself!

DP was gettin up at 430 this morning to go to Glasgow Airport to collect my parents from their hols. DD heard him and decided it was time to get up It took me an hour and a half to get her back down.
He's going in for his hernia op tommorrow morning. We were a bit worried earlier in the week as he he fell on a night out and cracked his ribs typical But he is feeling alot better now and was convinced that if he could drive to the airport this morning then he was fine for op

Im planning on walking through to my mums today, Its about 2miles along the canal then about 2.5miles up hill so hope it stays dry

Sho x

Niknak21 · 20/09/2009 18:20

LM hope you survived your weekend.

Baiyu how exciting about the wedding, where has the time gone?

DS2 had his op on wednesday, it wasn't too bad really, he's been on ibuprofen and calpol since though.

HM hope the sleep improves

Mitchell81 · 22/09/2009 13:45

Niknak Sorry to hear that DS2 had his op, Shame poor thing.

Shonnamamon Hope DP op goes well

My coursework for an Open University(OU) course has just arrived. I am now thinking what was I thinking. The first semester is only essays so at least no stress with exams.

Hope everyone is well, Has gone very quiet on here. Obviously our 15-17 month old babies are being handfulls

Harimosmummy · 22/09/2009 16:38

Hey, just marking for later!

luckymummy74 · 22/09/2009 20:56

niknak glad DS2's op went well.

HM once again.....I am in awe.....hope your little monkeys sleep better soon for you. It's bloody hard work with two such littlies, I thought one was hard but it was a walk in the park compared to two!!!

Weekend over [phew!] and was OK. Few hiccups....I heard DD1 call in the night ans jumped out of bed so quick I cricked my neck. I woke up Sunday unable to move my head to the right at all and in lots of pain [feels sorry for self even more].

DH was due to leave Newcastle at 11am but his car got blocked in at the hotel by....someone doing the bloody great north run!!!! So at 5:30pm he managed to get his car and come home, arriving home around 10pm . Not his fault, I know, but we were both fuming. How inconsiderate!!

Went to MIL's Sunday and ended up looking after my 9 month old nephew whose Mum had bogged off to London for the day and left the kids with FIL (MIL was at work). Poor FIL not really having a clue what to do with a 9 month old baby....meanwhile DD2 eats bark in the garden .

I was seriously glad to go back to work yesterday...........!!!!!!!!!!

Got my girls some gorgeous second hand clarks shoes on ebay for £5 a pair......so much cheaper!! They arrived today, hardly a mark on them!!!

Baiyu what date is your actual wedding? I think we should plan a virtual hen night where we all aim to be on line at the same time on MN and have a 'live chat'...any ideas girls?? (I have a number of a good stripper and some willy strawers....!!)

LM xxx

P.S. Sorry to sound so whingy again.

Yes, Baiyu, let's have a virtual FML hen night for you. What d'you say?

All mad here. I am so tired. DD is waking every 2 fucking (sorry!) hours & I am losing the will to live. What I hate most is that no sleep makes me shouty mama which is so not me . I am still breastfeeding & she's eating 5 or 6 times a night atm . Haven't mentioned it so far because it helps not to dwell on it, but my ddad (we're v close) is very ill & dd and me are practically living with him atm. It's ever so tiring. Shouldn't complain though. My sunshine girl keeps me smiling most of the time (like 1am, 3am, 5am etc )

oops-she's stirring so best go

'Night girls.

MM

Harimosmummy · 23/09/2009 14:05

bah humbug... wrote a long post this morning and then Haribo came to help me with it... Anyway, Baiyu - I'm up for a FML virtual hennight if you can fit us in!!

MM - I really feel for you about the sleep, it's just horrid, isn't it? Sorry to hear about your dad too.

Sleep is a funny thing, isn't it? We had a good night here last night - haribo didn't get up until 6am and Mimi got up at 1am and 4am... Quite when only having to get up twice in the night and then getting up in the morning at 6am constituted a good nights sleep, but I'm not complaining!! We've had MUCH worse nights!!!!!!!!!

I have to say, I have the utmost respect that you are still BF'ing... Mimi is only 7 weeks old and I've failed already!!!

LM - I sent you an e-mail... Hope you don't think I'm being too cheeky!!! I hope your neck is feeling better now.

ahh.. mimi has joined me so excuse the lack of punctuation!! i'm typing one handed now!!

niknak - hope DS is feeling better soon... probably best to get it out of the way, but difficult for you nonetheless

Sho - good luck for your DP

mitchell - i'm sure you will enjoy the soursework... my first assignment is due in on 30th oct and i'm really enjoying it. it is nice to have something else to think about.. nice to engage the brain sometimes!!!!

Well, my little girl has decided the best place to sleep is on me!!! Haribo is napping upstairs... he had another modelling job this morning, which went really well... he had a hoot and we got him some new portfolio shots done too - i'll stick them on FB... i love it when he enjoys himself!!! He had a job last week and didn't like th ephotographer at all, and it makes you think... God, is it worth it? i'm doing thids because H enjoys it vrather than the money iyswim... but today restored my faith that he really does enjoy being the centre of attenstion!!!

Well, best go - my lack of punctuation is probably making this difficult to read!!

hmxx

baiyu · 25/09/2009 21:24

Hello! I LOVE the idea of a virtual hen night! Just back from my real one (only went about 2 miles away ) Gorgeous 2 nights with a bunch of girls, my mum and sisters and our favourite gay best friend. No big mad drunkenness but masses of wonderful food, lots of wine and blether and a scavenger hunt! Last night they had a secret theme of 'me'. I popped out for wine and came back to find each of them in a different outfit representing a different part of my life - primary school, as a brownie, working on a steam train (covered in soot), at glastonbury festival, working in Africa...so funny. I so loved having some time to myself, it was amazing! And DP and DS coped and were happy, hooray!

Wedding is 1st October so erm...next Thursday! Still to do...I have no cake, flowers (for tables or for me and buttonholes), shoes, photographer, music for registry (just CDs), drinks for evening... Also DP is working every day until Tuesday before, eek! He has no shirt or tie either. Hmm. Plenty to keep me busy! Oh, and no honeymoon booked either .

Instead tonight I'm off to gut our bedroom as DP was bitten by a flea last night We have no animals etc, blurg. So lots of expensive flea rid products after I've cleaned like mad (and blown up the airbed to sleep in the living room!) Yeeuch. Just what I really don't need! DPs on his stag (a very small do compared to mine, his friends have been a bit rubbish).

Babysitter is doing a trial run on Sunday (also DPs birthday) so hope she copes and that'll be one thing less to fret about.

Sorry I'll stop blethering!

monkeysmama So sorry you're having a tough time. Big hugs and feel free to rant if it helps.

LM74 Should have got that car towed! How annoying.

shonnomanom · 26/09/2009 15:13

Hi
DP is doing good thank you, he claims he came out the hospital better than he went in - that might have something to do with the drugs numbing his broken rib as well. His biggest pain now is boredum (sp?)

Virtual Hen Nite sounds like a really good idea. Glad you had a great RL Hen Nite Baiyu, sounds like it was an amzing party.

We went to 'pay our respects' to our local ELC store today. It was especially sad as I worked there in my student days and often pop in for a wee chinwag when out shopping. Our local Mothercare closed the weekend that DD was born My old boss said that the company is planning to open a Mothercare World in the retail park and that will have an ELC concession in it (fyi this will eventually be the norm for all Mothercare & ELC stores)

Can I just ask how much Milk ur little ones still have, especially at night? DD drinks from the cow during the day, but she still has formula at bed time and another during the night. Im not sure what the 'norm' is at the stage.

Hope everyone is having a good wkend
Sho x

Mitchell81 · 26/09/2009 18:35

Monkeysmama Sorry to hear that your dad is not well, hope things are getting better.

Shonnamamon DS has 200ml cows milk before bed and 200ml in the morning.

Baiyu Can't believe your big day is next thursday, can't wait to see photos. Virtual hen night is a definite must!!!!!

Niknak21 · 26/09/2009 20:51

Had DS1's birthday party at wacky warehouse today, all went well.

DS2 pretty much recovered from op, although still on Abs with a bit of an infection.

He has cows milk at night and morning, 9oz bottle am, but anywhere between 1oz and 9oz at bed time, otherwise I don't give him milk.

Baiyu your hen night sounds lovely, the main thing on the day is you're both there, enjoy!

Have a fun Sun!

luckymummy74 · 27/09/2009 19:19

Sho I just PMSL at the image of your DD 'drinking from the cow'....i.e. lying on her back suckling away at a teat of a cow sitting in your garden (do cows sit??!!).

Baiyu your hen do sounds great and I love the idea of the 'Baiyu' theme...great idea!

DD2 has two cups of cows milk a day, one with breakfast and one before bed. No idea how much it is, prob about 200mls??? We stopped formula when she was one as I made the mistake of keeping DD1 on it (and no cows milk) until she was 18 months and then struggled to get her to take cows milk, didn't want to go through that again.

MM hope you don't think I'm speaking out of turn but did you day that your DD is feeding 5-6 times a night?? Seems a lot for her age? Maybe she is craving the attention of her lovely mummy rather than actual food? Are you still co-sleeping? Hope she settles soon for you.

Had a lovely, very productive weekend. Got some stuff for work done and tidied up the garden with DD1 and planted some bulbs for Spring. Got DD1 to wash down all her garden toys to put them away til next year. Sounds harsh but she loved it!!!! She was in her element!

DD2 still a little hooligan monkey .

Can't believe it's been so hot!!!
