She is, Scorpio! And her other dd is so cute too, all beautiful and well-mannered and everything. Oh, oh, and she's arty. I really don't know why I'm talking to her...

SalLikesCoffee · 18/03/2009 20:47

Hmm, thinking about it now, I should really leave this thread. Between Scorpio's hotpants, Peachy's red shoes etc etc etc, I start thinking I should probably be a bit embarrassed looking down at the dodgy tracksuit I'm currently wearing... Mind you, should, not am. Am way too slummy for that.

gemprincess · 18/03/2009 21:51

Hello ladies, god im crap and keeping in touch!!! Well Ashton had a fantastic 1st birthday. We took the kids to venture photography that day for some gorgeous pics. Went back a few days ago and shock at how much we spent, but was so worth it. Little man is doing well, he is having an op in early may to look down his throat etc and is currently havin portage etc which is really helping. We completed a signing course but the good news is Ashton is making more sounds now.Been a hard slog and finally accepting what has happened and also realise we may never know what caused his additional needs.Had a quick scan through your messages over the last few weeks and dont even now where to start. Happy Birthday to all the babies and a huge well done to all their lovely mummies. Take care.. xxx

SalLikesCoffee · 18/03/2009 22:07

Hi gemprincess! Congratulations to Ashton - so glad to hear you had such a great day!

Well, no more vomiting, so I now suspect it was all a ploy for more playtime. Oh, the lengths some children will go to. Honestly.

KnitterInTheNW · 18/03/2009 22:25

George decided today that he can clap. And hasn't stopped all afternoon.

OMaLittle · 18/03/2009 22:53

Love Scorpio. She types 'pretty' when what she actually means is 'posh and a bit useless'.

Hello Gemprincess and happy birthday Ashton! I just can't believe it's a year ago.

Congrats, Ellie. Such a massive step and I can't even begin to tell you the difference it's made to my life. (Although I do find that typing the words s t*** a bit too daunting, just in case.)

VS, what is your essay for? about the teacher. Definitely complain.

Evie is trying to clap. It's very cute. Coordination doesn't run in the family, poor Poppy is struggling to throw let alone catch at nearly 3. Evie does have rhythm, though. Yet more evidence (on top of her looking nothing like me) that I am not actually the mother.

OMaLittle · 18/03/2009 22:53

Oh, and Sal - you're not so bad yourself .

VictorianSqualor · 19/03/2009 08:12

Lol, @ everyone

OMa, it's the first part of the first part of the first assignment of my english degree it's about Doctor Faustus. I'm doing the second part tonight, which is about Cezanne then handing it in on friday. Ideally I want a mark of at least 70, this counts for 10% of my overall module mark which then counts for about the same amount of my overall degree mark, I want a good pass, not just a pass, because I'm planning on doing the GTP once I'm finished and with a better degree I'm more likely to get a school that want to train me.

VictorianSqualor · 19/03/2009 08:15

Oh, also, went round to DD's friend's house last night, there is a collection of us going into the school today, whilst I was there another mother texted her about the teacher so it seems all the kids have gone home and complained.

Alex has learned to clap too...FINALLY!! and he knows how to brush my hair, he holds the hair brush and I say 'hair' and he brushes my fringe lol.

EllieG · 19/03/2009 12:18

Molly's been clapping for ages actually, in fact, she was born clapping. Her co-ordination and fine motor skills are so good she has just learned to use knives properly, and is cooking me lunch as we speak.

Sorry, don't know what came over me. Went to baby swimming this morning and the posh mummy with the perfect baby who can do everything was there being all competitive. She is a tiny wee perfect thing and so is her mummy. She was going on and on about her wondrous accomplishments this morning and I said 'Yeah well mine is twice the size of yours so she could 'ave her in a fight. Why don't we pit them against each other and see which one wins?' Don't think she wants to speak to me any more

VS - I am SO impressed at you managing to do essays. I was crap at studying before had Molly, so hats off to you. If I knew anything about Dr Faustus or had read anything that didn't just involve spies and gangsters in the past 10 months I would offer some help, but since I can't, will give encouraging pat on the back [ellie pats VS firmly in encouraging manner]

LadyBee · 19/03/2009 13:40

Ellie, I'm impressed that you've actually read something. I think I've managed to read maybe 3 whole books in the last year, and that was when I was in NZ and had GPs on tap to make my dinner and help me with B.

I still don't read on the train into work..I listen to podcasts and look out the window. I just don't seem to have any ability to concentrate any more.

OMaLittle · 19/03/2009 20:18

VS, am also super-impressed. I saw Dr Faustus with Jude Law in (then we got locked in the cafe with him afterwards, o! the days), it seemed rather impenetrable even though I knew the Faust story. Good luck! I think it would really help get a GTP placement if you targeted a few schools and then went for as many observation days as possible and built up a relationship with them. Obviously a good degree will help but I get the impression the relationship is more important. My interview was really good fun. I am SO excited about teaching.

DD2 started clapping today! I promise there was no pressure...

VictorianSqualor · 19/03/2009 22:03

You saw JL do faustus?!?! Am sooooooo jealous!!
I didn't find the story too hard to 'get' but the essay was all about he language and poetic stuff etc etc used to create which impression blah blah. Have just finished my Cezanne essay I drank wine whilst doing it

LOL, spellcheck likes Faustus but doesn't like Cezanne.....

VictorianSqualor · 19/03/2009 22:04

Oh, also, am sooo excited about teaching too, we;re gonna be fantastic teachers

Unlike the weird teacher of DD's that was sacked at 9am this morning on day 3 !!!!

LadyBee · 20/03/2009 14:49

the friday afternoon slump is upon me and nobody is there to talk to...15 minutes available to cram the half of a sandwich that has been sitting on my desk since 12, before I head off to another meeting.

I would much rather be sitting with my baby on the lawn right now.

Still...we've had some good news - DP got offered a new job, and he's just emailed me to say they've agreed to pay him what he asked for and has good benefits on top, so we're going to have a slightly easier household budget once he starts there...yippee!!

I think I'm going to suggest we try to set up a monthly 'date' and get a regular babysitter, even if we just go see a movie and get a cheap dinner locally, it would be nice.

ScorpiowithabigS · 20/03/2009 14:56

i wrote a message and then it wouldnt post

Hurray for your dh ladybee, it will be nicer having a more relaxed budget and dates!

Im going thai boxing tonight, DH will get in at 545 and im out at 6

ScorpiowithabigS · 20/03/2009 20:46

I am with myself

tonight i did 500 punches, 300 knees, 180 roundhouse kicks, 5x2 minture shoulders to knees sparring and 200 situps/pressups

i am whoop whooping

although my skin on my knees has rubbed off and its not as much fun as carpet burn but whoop whoop anyway!!

SalLikesCoffee · 20/03/2009 21:34

Congratulations to your dh, Ladybee!!! That is such brilliant news, I'm all excited for you.

Scorpio, wow! Sounds like you're having a great time! (in the boxing ring, am still blushing about the rest, heehee).

Oh yes, and Ladybee, I'd thoroughly recommend date night if that's possible. Not so much because you don't ever have alone with a baby - as you do really once they sleep - but more because it forces you to do couple-y things. Friday nights are our date nights. We do often just use it to do more leisurely grocery shopping (), but most of the time we just go to the pub for a quiet glass of wine or whatever, as we "might as well" as the babysitter is at home and it would be awkward if we sit around there. I know it sounds really ridiculous, but once we're on a "date" it forces us to talk about other things too, if that makes sense. I'd easily survive without it if we have to, but if you've got the option and don't have to give up anything major for it, the occasional "date night" is brilliant in my books.

PS: Date night involved going out for cocktails with dh tonight, so apologies for the long post!

EllieG · 21/03/2009 11:53

OH poo just typed a long and involved post full of warmth and wit and responding carefully to everyone else's and lost it.

Can't be bothered to type all again.

Hello everyone. Am off to the beach now, speak later

SalLikesCoffee · 21/03/2009 12:52

Hahaha, hi Ellie! Hope you've got a brilliant day at the beach you show-off!

Lazy day here, with me, dh and Roelof lying in bed for ages this morning, reading, singing, generally being silly with R laughing his little butt off. Such a nice feeling, my heart's all warm and fuzzy now.

SalLikesCoffee · 21/03/2009 14:14

Ooh yes, and one of R's bottom molar's is through!

SalLikesCoffee · 21/03/2009 16:52

molars

VictorianSqualor · 21/03/2009 17:51

at the beach.
We have had a lovely day though at a Wildlife park, Panda found the monkeys most amusing, and I want one

Decided to have a BBQ when we came home, bought meat and rolls and coleslaw and beer etc, only to remember we left our BBQ at old house, go round everywhere looking for one and nowhere is stocking them yet so we are having a BBQ cooked under the grill

OP posts:
ScorpiowithabigS · 21/03/2009 17:54

LOL VS same here! We had grilled BBQ'd marinated mackerel etc

SalLikesCoffee · 21/03/2009 18:04

We had champagne and... Pringles. I am a slattern.

BBQ (grilled or not) sounds lovely! Should really do a grocery shopping trip again, have no non-baby-ish food in the fridge, and can only drink so much wine before the neighbors are going to start worrying.
