Hello everybody! Love hearing about all the new things happening and little boys & girls deciding that they'll now do what they want! Can you imagine the teenage years?!

Lovely pics, Knitter.

KnitterInTheNW · 24/03/2009 08:55

I'm trying not to think of the teenage years! My first nanny boss came to G's party, her DS was 6 months old when I started working for them. He was 15 at the end of October. She was laughing at George tipping his party food all over the table and floor, and I asked if she was glad she'd finished with the baby years (Her DC are 15, 13 and 11 now.) She said yes, but now they have to wait up to pick their eldest up from parties, it was 11:30 the other night apparently! I don't think there's an age range that's trouble free, so we might as well just enjoy what we can!

ScorpiowithabigS · 24/03/2009 11:50

I am positvely ignoring the prospect of a house full of 5 teenagers (inc dss and dc4 obv), well and plus DH, thats 6

DH goes on Sunday and i'm going to miss him!

Have been so tired lately went to bed at 930pm for last 2 nights, lol.

Denny185 · 24/03/2009 17:51

Looks like you all had a great time at G's b-day party, love the pics.

MommyHasaHeadache · 24/03/2009 18:55

Happy (belated) Birthday George!! Love his pics on FB Knitter!! He is soooo gorgeous!! Also loved the Superman pic - very cute! Can't beleive he is one already! Time has gone so quickly

Well, Gigi starts nursery school tomorrow. She goes Wed am and Fri pm until the 18 May when she starts full time, Mon - Fri. I'm gutted. Took her for her settling in sessions last week, and she seemed to really enjoy it, so it really is just me not wanting to let go! Gigi has been clapping and waving (and making a kind of bye bye sound when waving) since about Feb. Think it was all that extra 247 attention she got from her Nanna in SA! I think the classes she goes to (Baby Sensory and Sing and Sign) have something to do with it too.

Gosh I can't stop thinking about this time last year too. I was soooo pregnant lol! I had just given up work and had just started my maternity leave! It really was bliss having those last few weeks to myself! Now I've got to look for a new job and that daily grind starts all over again...

VictorianSqualor · 25/03/2009 09:09

Happy Birthday Olivia!!!

OP posts:
Peachy · 25/03/2009 09:37

yay olivia!

Bit of an arrrggggghhhh day today. DH has been told with his other 15 colleagues to apply for 3 jobs in the next month, rest redundant . There are three obviouses- 2 who simply can't do their jobs (transferred when cntracts ended) and one currently known as Office Shit (willexplain elsewhere) but I reckon DH'schances of being taken on are low simlpy because they think as a younger person he'll get taken on elsewhere. They'll forget I cant work and have 4 kids to feed.

Reason for office shit (to justiofy myself): Colleague M lost his BIL last week. BIL's wife and mother have severe demntia, leaving only cM and his wife now to care for them and arrange funeral. Office Shit refused to cover so M was refusedleave to attend funeral (not direct family ). Office Shits aid he was too ill (DH etc alreadys cheduled in). OS was later spotted in a pole dancing club FFS. ).

Anyay its all ahnds to the deck here; DH thinks I should geta job but jobs allowing yu to be at home holidays and 9.15 and 3.15 each day are a bit scarce (for the SN school bus). Dh thinks he willc re for BAs as wella s me, though I did point out we is shit at BF.

So all a bit panicky but won't know now for 8 weeks so have to just reaply and let it happen, whatever it is.

ScorpiowithabigS · 25/03/2009 13:09

Happy Birthday Olivia!

LadyBee · 25/03/2009 14:06

Happy birthday Olivia!

What a huge pain Peachy! there really isn't much you can do until you get the results of re-applying, but will make for some very anxious nights I'm sure.

MHAH, it's wonderful to hear that gigi enjoys her nursery sessions, difficult of course to make the change yourself, but it really is the best thing to know that at least she's happy and well cared for
Do you think you'll be able to find a job without too much trouble? And will you be looking for flexible hours?

Took B to get weighed and talk to HV about next round of immunisations. He's due for some at 12 months, 2 weeks away, and the MMR thing at 13 months. But when I went to make an appointment they're booked up until June . HV said they've got funding for another nurse coming in soon, so they'll contact me with an appointment - no doubt it won't be on a Wednesday - but I guess my CM can take him if I can't get the time off. . B's weight and height have equalled out, so even though he's actually lost weight he's on 75% percentile for both and looks absolutely fine. I was pleased to see it, mainly because I wanted reassurance that the meals he was getting at CM were the right amounts. I know, I know, PFB

KnitterInTheNW · 25/03/2009 21:49

Happy birthday Olivia!

And to all the other babies whose birthdays will be over the next couple of weeks. Tonight is the last night in his house, and we won't have internet in the new one for a couple of weeks. Yikes!

Have a lovely couple of weeks all of you, and I'd like an update of what's been going on when I get back, please!

ScorpiowithabigS · 26/03/2009 13:25

Have a nice break Knitter, dont get too much withdrawal

Ladybee - LOL at you and your PFB (Mimi is def my TPB, i still get her weighed to check formula 'works' )

Mimi is a little bit off today, v v v sleepy & full of snot. Not sure wether just cold (everyone else here has 1) or possible ear problem, she isnt pullign it or anything just i remember when J had an infection it was kinda the same, but i think hers is more cold and snot than anything else.

Got some new clothes today, whoop whoop, and a new dress, only cheapy but here is the dress, i thought nice for summer on its own or with leggings, jeans for other times and little crochet cardi thing.

DH off on Sunday, at 10am. Will miss him.

ScorpiowithabigS · 26/03/2009 13:26

oh and there was a beautiful gay man in our car last night, i may go and lick the seat or something

LadyBee · 26/03/2009 13:57

oh that's lovely Scorpio, yes would look great with skinny jeans and maybe some lovely high red strappy shoes.

Was this the same beautiful gay man or another one ?

WHERE is soph? Did she go on holiday?...I wonder if she's missing chip day? I am having a bacon sandwich so I could compete and she's not here, humph!

ScorpiowithabigS · 26/03/2009 13:59

Same gay man so gorgeous, honestly really is. He has the same nail varnish as me DH said lol

LadyBee · 26/03/2009 14:00

right so anyway, you know how our babies are turning 1...and the 'rules' say they can start on cows milk (obviously not if intolerant)...how do you do that then? Do you just not buy another tub of formula when the one you've got runs out? do I just try him with it and see how we go? What are you all planning to do?

ScorpiowithabigS · 26/03/2009 14:01

Well Mimi's tub will run out in about 5 days and im not buying anymore. Just warm it up, shove in bottle and feed

ScorpiowithabigS · 26/03/2009 14:01

Fullfat milk, btw

LadyBee · 26/03/2009 14:16

ok, and you warm in what? We don't have a bottle warmer, do I just bung it some boiling water?

I normally make up DS's bottles with a small amount of freshly boiled water and then top up with cold filtered to make it the right temp for him. He takes it colder if we're out though, so maybe it doesn't need to be very warm, just take the chill off from the fridge.

We'll have to start getting full fat then, I wonder whether one day we'll end up with fridge full of different 'colour' milks? In NZ there's one called 'calci-trim' which is like green top but with added calcium. It has a yellow top and is fab. Oh and the colours are around the other way, in NZ:
Green = skim
Blue = reduced fat
Red = full fat

Not that I expect anyone to be particularly interested in this...unless you happen to go to NZ one day then you'll thank me

ScorpiowithabigS · 26/03/2009 15:02

boiling water, or i have always just done microwave and given it a big shake.

We always have semi-skimmed; DH likes full fat [yuck] but i always buy extra full fat for the babies of the house.

MommyHasaHeadache · 26/03/2009 17:30

I was just wondering this myself! So all those other tubs of formula for 1+ is just a marketing ploy or do they need to be drinking that as well?

Love that dress Scorpio!

ScorpiowithabigS · 26/03/2009 17:43

Formula of any type is not needed after 1 if they are eating food well. Just a waste of money IMO.

I'm not too sure of the dress on.....maybe i will have to post a pic or something....it looks a bit big/sacky?

MommyHasaHeadache · 26/03/2009 19:20

Post pic - I am sure it will look great on you cos even if it is a bit sacky, you are skinny underneath so will look a little hippieish and floaty.

Glad to hear formula is not needed - look forward to not having to spend £8 a tub!

SalLikesCoffee · 26/03/2009 20:22

Quick hello before i run for the bath! Sorry not posting properly lately, but I have been following you all very closely every day, so from my side I'm being the perfect stalker, promise!

Scorpio, love the dress, I really do. It'll have to be with flat shoes though - I like those on the link. Hmm, wish I wasn't so flabby, I want to look hippyish too...

This milk thing sounds great! Just to double check though - what about all the additional vitamins and minerals? Is it all fake marketing? What if I'm not sure about his protein intake? He loves fruit, but sometimes won't be fussed with meats.

VictorianSqualor · 27/03/2009 00:25

Hi, shit few days here, DP's Granddad (not the one that came here xmas, the other one, his mum's dad) went to hospital on Monday after having a wobbly hand, turned out to be a stroke, he died this morning.
Just wanted to say WRT milk thing, as long as baby is on a good, varied diet then normal milk is fine, if you're worried then a normal multi-vitamin tablet plus normal milk works out much more cost effective, but isn't necessary.

OP posts:
Peachy · 27/03/2009 11:03

Yes agree with VS, although Bas still 100% BF milk wise and won't even look at soya: he'll go onto goats (starngely as nutritionally valid after 1 but not implicated in ASD. Since DS3 has been on it the difference is immense!).

Bas has turned into a hair puller . Something to crack down on then!
