to everyone else hi! we had a great day yesterday, match was fab (regardless of result ), had a nice meal and a full nights sleep without the kids - who apparently all behaved rather well for my lovely aunts

I was awful leaving Dylan but she's still in one piece although was happy to see me (which pleased me )

fantastic news about Marianne absolutely wonderful pertelote if you're having a moment/chance/inclination to lurk we're all still sending you our best wishes

hotterpotter · 15/03/2009 21:40

Hey Dizzy, glad you had a good time despite the result

Cyteen nice hair

Marmite - noooooooo

CC LOL but you know he will do it one day and it'll frighten the life out of you! Hope he likes his new room.

No1 that's a brilliant story so glad you got it back, phew!

Ataraxis I firmly believe that garlic bread counts as one of your 5-a-day

ALBS I hope DS is feeling better now. Did you hear about the party popper boy, is he OK?

Have had a lovely day, feeling a bit sunkissed (but sadly not in a Florida way )after spending most of the afternoon in the garden pottering around with the new ponds. Still loads to do but think they will look nice . DS only slept an hour in total , he usually manages at least 2.5 -3, he's eaten his own body weight in sweet potato mash and brocolli and gone to bed like an angel so we'll see how it goes tonight. Not holding my breath though...

dizzydixies · 15/03/2009 21:43

oohh hotter you never know I'm loate to say it BUT we seem to have turned a corner with the teething and apparently she slept well for my aunts too - fingers crossed for you too!

hotterpotter · 15/03/2009 21:49

Thanks Dizzy, we are definitely getting more sleep than a few weeks ago - down to one or two wakes which is just about manageable as long as I haven't had too much wine . He's got 12 weeks I think before I have to go back to work , I'm sure we can get him whipped into shape by then

Saw that pic of you on FB with the devil horns

dizzydixies · 15/03/2009 21:51

ah feck I KNEW one of you eagled eyed so and so's would see it

hotterpotter · 15/03/2009 21:55

Hehehe and now all the other August fbers will be looking for it too [evil grin]

dizzydixies · 15/03/2009 21:56

wench!!!

poppysocks · 15/03/2009 22:16

Hi kentdee. I'm up the road from dizzy with DD1 (just 3) and DD2 (08/08/08). Welcome!

Bad luck yesterday Dizzy wasn't it, despite looking good for a while. DH gutted we missed today's match but roll on next weekend!

Lovely hair cyteen!

Thank you for the update from GOSH for us non-FBers (or am I the only one? ). So glad Marianne's making such good progress.

After a fairly difficult few days of constant grizzling with DD2 (when she was just like her big sister as a baby....reminding us once more how lucky we've been this time round), our ray of sunshine has returned - with two teeth! No wonder she was so miserable all week. Not only did she have a horrible cold and cough but double toothache.

Looking forward to catching up on Wednesday dizzy.

Oh and marmite... Yes, yes, yes.

longwayfromhome · 15/03/2009 23:03

Hello,

Marmite yes, but not available over here.

Greetings to all,

No sleep here (work, clocks changing and general no sleepness) so apologies for lack of responses to everyone, except hotterpotter I think that having ponds really nice. Are you going to have frogs too?

Expectant · 16/03/2009 01:39

Sorry didn't manage to get on yesterday. Saturday night was better so thanks for all those comments they must have worked a bit! Last night also better but not great. I think his second tooth is also coming through so this isn't helping. He's gone from zero to 2 teeth in about 5 days.

Doctor was not a lot of help Cyteen glad your LO is feeling better. Not sure where you are with weaning and ff (rubbish sleep deprived Mummy brain) but last time and this time Doc suggested that we cut out dairy and also if he was ff (which he isn't because he won't take a bottle) we should use lactose free formula. Reason being is that often they get temporary lactose intolerance when they have diarrhoea. Might be worth a try if you're not already doing so.

Hp your work situation sounds a lot like mine. I wish I had an idea of what I would like to do if I wasn't doing what I am doing.

VG yes I agree a new name is in order but feeling completely lacking in inspiration. No definitely not something I need to share with you all - would be an immaculate conception if it were

Sibh and KentDee I too lived in Colliers Wood from 2001-2006 before we came to Singapore. We still have our house there which is rented out at the moment.

Peterlote great news about Marianne.

I'm on fb but haven't added anyone from mn yet can someone give me their details then I can add away....

TwilightSurfer · 16/03/2009 02:25

Dizzy I'm off to find your horned picture!!!

Sazzles says hello. We've had a lovely evening of eating, drinking and chatting. Our DHs have TALKED NONSTOP since 8am....it's 10pm now. GOOD LORD!

TwilightSurfer · 16/03/2009 02:27

LOL!!

TwilightSurfer · 16/03/2009 02:33

dd in my bed again, she fell asleep on dh kneww at 5 pm and apart from me waking her slightly at 9pm to out her pjs on and change nappy she slept till 7.
I was though as she was so hot Im sure we could have fried an egg.
Paranoia kicked in and out came the thermometer. So I kept an eye on her most of night. Sure she is def dreaming as she muttered 'oh no' and 'oh dear' again nearly every hour

expectant sorry doc was not that helpful, hope cutting out dairy helps.
Hotter ponds sound cool, sounds like back breaking work too.

dizzydixies · 16/03/2009 08:43

up since 5am here so I am fed/showered/ dressed in IRONED clothes/ hair dryed AND straightened!! DD1 dressed for school since 8am and now thinks she is late, DD2 fed and dressed and Dylan back down for a nap.

we had a straight through night until 5am so I shouldn't complain

so, No1 thanks for breakfast but I think I'm about ready for lunch!!! Hope C feeling ok today and that you manage some rest after your watchful night

Forgot it was closing date for that job noon today so am off to hastilypatchtogether fill in an online application and give it a whirl.

apologies for the rain up here, it ALWAYS rains when I straighten my hair TS glad you two are having a great time but if you could pass on to Sazz that today is the hottest day in England this year with temps hitting 17

poppy looking forward to Wed too, if we're up again at 5am we may even manage not to be late !!!

expectant am [email protected]

AnnVan · 16/03/2009 09:07

Morning everone! Had an ok night here - two wakeups. Little man a complete grouch this morning though.

Forgot everything I was going to reply to.

LoveBuckets · 16/03/2009 09:07

Ataraxis Kurt also only really laughs at his sister because she puts in the time and eye contact that nobody else does. That said, he had a good chuckle at me dancing in the kitchen yesterday.

Cyteen Nice hair indeed.

Kurt was doing this funny kind of singing all night, think he has my cold so can't breathe through his nose. So he turned it into a singing opportunity, just like his mum. Obviously I wasn't all night, I kicked DH into the spare bed and had Kurt in with me. Then he was up at 6am anyway, clearly thirsty from having his throat open all night.

Off to Center Parcs after lunch, better go do some packing hadn't I? I just know DD's first wobbly tooth will fall out on hols and she will freak out for England, despite all my reassurances and preparation.
Have a good week if I don't manage to find some free wifi. Fingers crossed for everyone that needs luck.

Expectant · 16/03/2009 09:25

Buckets Sam also doing the singing though he certainly doesn't get this from me or DH - we're both tone deaf . Have a great time at Center Parcs.

Dizzy think I might be being really stupid but have tried putting your e-mail address in fb search and it comes up with nothing.

hotterpotter · 16/03/2009 09:34

Buckets hope you have a lovely time. If the weather is like it is up here it should be brilliant

Ann your brain must be fuddled with too much sleep

Dizzy 5am , saying that, DS was up at 6 (but after just one wake up so getting there slowly). I tried to feed him and played with him for an hour then sent him downstairs with DH and went back to sleep for an hour . Did I miss something though? What job? Good luck with the application anyway.

No1 hope DD is feeling better today

Expectant look forward to 'seeing' you on FB when TS does her administrative tasks

Poppy to two teeth at once, no wonder she was grouchy!

LWFH actually the main reason we are putting in the new ponds is for the frogs. We currently have one pretty large pond which was lovely until

  • a heron came and ate all the fish
  • the liner got ripped and we couldn't fix it no matter how hard we tried.

So now we have a pool of fetid water about 6 inches deep. The pond is right in the middle of the garden too, so we decided it would be much better filled in and lawned over so the DC would be able to play in full view of the house. . That was making me feel guilty though so we have put the new (much smaller) ponds in so the frogs and toads have somewhere to play. Have left it a bit late though as there are currently about 100 frogs making froggy love in the slimy water of the old pond, will have to get my net and scoop all the frogspawn out before I fill it in [ewww]. Of course all the times I say we I mean DH, it's his back that has been broken by the digging

dizzydixies · 16/03/2009 09:50

expectant if you email me I shall reveal to you who I am and how to find us

hotter am applying for a civil ceremonies celebrant job with the local council, why not eh?!? may even get some cake out of it

buckets totally forgot you were going, sorry - have a great time

well my great start to the day had lessoned slightly by managing to get DD1 to school late - she was running away from me up the road after hearing the bell as I was dragging encouraging DD2 to hurry up behind me its raining here so hair now frizzy again and ironed trousers onto radiator to dry out and am back in beloved joggy bottoms

application from previous position found/doctored and emailed in so am off to look at planning applications before this committee meeting tonight

sambo303triesforScotland · 16/03/2009 10:04

cyteen love the hair

dizzy my you have been busy today, must be time to put your feet up!

buckets have a wonderful time, v of your break

welcome kentdee I live near Wimbledon

expectant I am not on fb

fab news re Marianne, Pert hope all continues positively

I can report mixed results from putting ds in his room - so far he has ended up in our bed each night but at later and later times - last night I put him to bed at 7pm and fed him again at 8, 11, 1.30am, 3.30am then dp prodded me awake at 5.30am to tell me ds had been whinging since 3.30am, cue Words and dp brought him into bed with us cue more Words cos he had him under the duvet still in his growbag (dp does not believe grobags replace sheets and blankets) . I think we need an agreed plan re what to do when ds is whinging - ie should we bring him in with us (which stops the whinging) or will that make him realise that to get in with us he just has to whinge? Or leave him to whinge and just go in every 5 mins (this is not crying btw cos I would go in for that) Advice would be appreciated !!

dizzydixies · 16/03/2009 10:29

sambo if you're only putting him down at 7pm may I suggest he's not needing fed at 8pm? could he have some wind or just needing some comfort and if this possibly is the case maybe DP could help rather than you?

Dylan still whinges sometimes and does on occassion end up in with us (mainly when its me dealing on my own ) and I have to also hold my hands up to not taking her out her sleeping bag but then we are in Scotland and in her cot she has a sleeping bag and blanket(s) too

I would give him a chance to settle himself, he'll have to get used to it eventually - but obviously not if he's distressed - ask DP to be a tad more proactive here too as obviously DP is not associated with milk iyswim?

hth

cyteen · 16/03/2009 10:50

Morning all

Buckets have a brilliant holiday, I am not at all jealous

dizzy good luck with your application, I think you have earned a large slice of cake with all you've done today.

Joe has spent most nights in with us recently - combination of him needing comfort due to this bug and me being too lazy sleepy to put him back in his cot. It is nice to snuggle up to his lovely chubby cheeks too even though it does mean getting woken up with a smack in the face or 15 minutes of poo noise

Expectant thanks for the tip about dairy - I have been giving him yoghurt, cheese etc. which predictably he loves, so maybe I'll knock that on the head for now. Got a doc's appt for him this afternoon after pointing out to the receptionist that a 6 month old with week-long diarrhoea probably did need to be fitted in today so will ask them about it too. I just hope I don't get the crap doctor.
