Hullo!
Well I didn't expect to be saying this quite so soon, but here I am, tucked up in my own bed (bliss) with one very brave baby girl.
And I want to say the most enormous, heartfelt THANK YOU to you extraordinary, talented, generous, supportive women. The balloons arrived, the beautiful bag got past the fierce scrutiny of ICU reception , the lovely bunny kept watch over Marianne when I couldn't, the card made me cry and cry, and your donation made me proud to know you. I am overwhelmed by the thoughtfulness and generosity that went into it all.
The surgery went very smoothly - mostly as well as one could possibly hope for, just a few bits they couldn't quite get done this time and will go back to probably in her teens. Once out of theatre the amazing nursing plus her own enormous resilience had her progressing in leaps and bounds and so by today she just clearly did not belong in hospital .
Now she's a bit sore and very, very clingy - we're just going to lie low for a few days and let her get used to the idea that we're home. It's a bit like bringing a newborn home actually - scared, knackered and confused, but oh so thankful
