Right so how about this as a birthday meal

Starters
Jamon with orange slices and balsamic vinegar

Mains
Fresh pasta and meatballs

Pudding
Apple crumble with fresh custard

Now just need an outstanding meatball recipe.

I usually make it up as I go along, but with MIL in attendance I daren't.

dizzydixies · 25/03/2009 10:13

sounds lovely

TwilightSurfer · 25/03/2009 12:00

dizzydixies · 25/03/2009 12:02

TwilightSurfer · 25/03/2009 12:06

just had lunch of cherry toms, basil, mozerella and balsamic but bloody hell the basil (I think) was bitter and its left me with a horrid aftertaste [bluergh]

DH took DD2 out this morning to sort the car tax (we only got the car in Dec [hhm]) so a shop and came home via the florists, lovely bunch of flowers and an apology for getting it so wrong on Sun - its only taken me 3 days of not speaking to him like a petulant child to get my point across

lovely gesture but I'm still going to guard myself and expect nothing in future - have been here before

now off out for a walk with the kids as have been sending letters of complain to CEO's this morning and don't want them to think I'm a lazy slattern who doesn't leave the house from one day to the next

TwilightSurfer · 25/03/2009 13:54

Expectant I would like the number of your cat sitter. LOL!!

Rain Rain Rain here today.
Home now cleaning.
Forgot DD1's lunch so must return to her school by noon. Oh Well.

Steaknife · 25/03/2009 13:55

Grapefruit was a great success at lunch today. Little Miss has taken to the eating thing rather well, to the point where she looks taken aback if the thing she puts in her mouth isn't food.

DH actually conceeded that BLW is working well and he is impressed with it. Especially as it was just some funny new-fangled idea that I picked up from a load of made-up people on the web. (DH once accused MN as being made up of "unreal" people as if you were all pretending to have babies just to dupe me into giving my baby a carot stick)

Both the French-in-laws are equally impressed and MIL busily tells all her friends how good it is too.

[smug mother and child emoticon]

Steaknife · 25/03/2009 14:01

I've been braving other threads outside the comfort of our tent, but this one about a gift for a French exchange trip has left me wondering why I bother.

Are there folk that like to go on threads to be rude to each other? Seems a bit you know, unfriendly to me.

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 25/03/2009 14:14

lol ts I would have to be renamed Mary if I was.

I am very for you about your cat sitter. That is disgraceful of her and even worse that she knows you.

dizzy I hope you are feeling better today
steaky that menu sounds lovely.
hI vg how are you feeling now?? I hope you havent been driving yourself mad thinking of what to do.Iykwim

sambo glad to here you are down to 2 night wakings, about the same here too. I am pleased he seems to be settling in his own room.

I have successfully got them both down for a nap and should be ironing

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 25/03/2009 14:18

I have recieved a letter from the paediatrician this morning I have no idea what it means so I will just write what it says.
I was wondering if any of you had a clue?????

P

Urine organic acids: Mild to moderate Hydroxydicarboxylic Aciduria, which may be significant but may also be secondary to resolving Ketosis.
The neonatal dried blood spot will be analysed for acylcarnitines to help determine the significance of the findings.
(reults to follow)

???????

sambo303triesforScotland · 25/03/2009 14:37

no1 I do not understand a word of it nor why on earth they have sent you some gobbledygook. And what does 'may be significant' mean , are they trying to scare you? indeed

can report that ds does not like roast garlic cloves

well done mini steak on taking blw to the French

PetitFilou1 · 25/03/2009 14:39

no1 Have no idea but will ask dh if I can get hold of him later (he's away)

If you try and google it, it does come up under rare conditions but no actual information

I think you should ring now and ask for an explanation in layman's terms. It seems very poor to have sent you this letter with no explanation. I think it sounds like it should have gone to another medical person first and should not have gone direct to you (just a hunch though)

Will be back later

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 25/03/2009 14:40

Thanks I have been trying to google and got the same. Scaremongering indeed. I will phone then and see what they say.

Steaknife · 25/03/2009 15:42

Help needed over here got to find articles for DH's english class tonight - it is his boss so needs to be good.

The only thing I know about ketosis is that it can be associated with diabetes, oh and those that follow the atkins diet. Sorry no actual help at all then.

PetitFilou1 · 25/03/2009 16:09

no1 Were you copied in to the letter or was it sent direct to you? dh said there is a drive for patients to be sent copies of all correspondence about them atm - maybe why you received this. btw unfortunately he has no idea what those results mean but I did ask for you! He agreed it sounded like it was meant for another med professional

hope you get some answers .....

PetitFilou1 · 25/03/2009 16:11

steaky try Jamie Oliver for good meatball recipes - will look later for you (Italy book v good imo) but may not get back on here as so busy when dh is not here

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 25/03/2009 16:25

hi pf thanks for trying to find out for me.

The letter is addressed to us directly. I have phoned but no answer, will try again tomorow.
*steak atkins is where i had jheard about ketosis too.
