BAH just realised that DH has organised social stuff for us tomorrow - we will both miss the rugby.
But it is social stuff for his bday next week - he will be 30 - the young pup grows up, so better not complain.

Dizzy - when you meet the landlord, maybe you should mention that you are sorry you missed the boat on running it yourself (aiming for that lovely, lofty, just mentioning it for no reason voice Winnie the Pooh uses when he says he really does like lunch). Then carry on with being enthusiastic on the committee's behalf.

My guess is the landlord would much prefer a sole tenant to a committee, and it would be up to him to manage the situation to his best advantage once he knows the options.

The first text I had to read on my degree was Machiavelli's The Prince. Can't you tell? .

Steaky - DD2 was very startled by kiwi fruit today and then decided she loved it.

dizzydixies · 20/03/2009 20:11

I just looked in on the little one to turn out her night light. She looked so peaceful that it made me wish that she could always be so contented.

See what two glasses of red will do to you - turn you to mush and forget about the horror that is Teenage Daughter, lying in wait for you a mere 12 and a half years away.

pertelote · 20/03/2009 20:45

Thanks Dizzy and VG!

Beach looks wonderful Sibh, hoping some sunshine sticks around this weekend now that I am finally venturing out of the house!

Enjoy the birthday boy's celebrations Steaknife... Omce we hear the champagne corks popping the thread won't echo for long

Allezlesbluessteaknife · 20/03/2009 20:46

Right, been instructed to turn off MN and switch on some Scorsese film where everyone dies. Night.

SibhaShillelaghUnderYourArm · 20/03/2009 20:48

Ooh, that sounds possible.
Not on Wednesdays, because we're teaching over easter, or the 7th as its DS's birthday. I can't remember Dizzy's dates.

Steaky - don't laugh about the time passing. DH pointed out to me recently that DS, who is going to be six, is a third of the way through his time at home with us. I was weeping, DH was

DS ran through a list of possible presents for himself tonight and then said, 'if you think any of them cost too much money, just switch them for something else.' My lovely boy is back I think, after a month of being a bold pup.

Pertelote-how are things in your household at the moment?

cyteen · 20/03/2009 20:58

Lovely beach Sibh I do so hope the weather holds this weekend, although we'll only be visiting Rutland Water or the like. Still, a trip's a trip in our brand new (second hand) car

Bonne anniversaire to the Mansteak!

Steaky I so know that feeling of loving the innocence - every time Joe looks into my face and smiles his lovely big open smile it makes my heart break just a little bit, sentimental old besom that I am. I try and file as many grins as possible away in the tiny indestructible part of my brain so that they will live forever (even through the years of 'but Mu-uuum' that await us).

dizzy one day we will meet and I will whup your ass at Singstar It's a very cathartic game, I find.

Had fun and games at bedtime tonight - Joe was bathed, fed, cuddled, sang to and was just drifting off in his cot when all of a sudden there was a bedtime poo! Don't think we've had one of those before. I suspect a ploy to delay bedtime He looked most pleased with himself Still, all was well in the end and now I am ensconced on sofa with glass of wine and doting DP slaving over the hot stove. This last is especially impressive as his new Nintendo DS game arrived today so once again I am a Grand Theft Auto widow.

pertelote · 20/03/2009 21:17

Sibh, we're doing ok thanks. Actually, really great. DD is more like herself each day. We had the stitch out today (she just had one from the chest drain). She's still covered in scabs and bruises of course but with her clothes on you really wouldn't know anything had happened to her at all. She's feeding, eating, playing, laughing... Even the things I attribute to the surgery/hospital stay - like being clingy and sleep-resistant - are so minor they could frankly be just a normal 7-month phase. Her second tooth has come through this week, for instance, which would be enough to excuse a lot of it! She is still on paracetamol so that could be keeping her comfortable. The only thing we have to do is avoid lifting her under the armpits until her ribs are healed, so it's a little bit awkward getting her out of the highchair, for instance.

So DH has gone back to work, I've been out and about today, and generally all is good

Miamla · 20/03/2009 21:37

VG you're a v funny lady!

i'm so tired. i've been cleaning and tidying today. proper tidying and no hidying!

i typed this hours ago so properly x posted with loads!

Miamla · 20/03/2009 21:51

yup, as i suspected, the thread has moved on at a rate of knots. do i mean knots? nots?

i discovered a magic way to change DS into a quiet, still cuddly boy today... all i have to do is turn the hoover on. i showed DP and he said i was being mean because DS was scared.

NB this isn't the first time i've had the hoover out since he was born, i usually do it while he's sleeping..honest!

Miamla · 21/03/2009 00:26

is nobody around tonight?

TwilightSurfer · 21/03/2009 02:13

HELLO I am here for a moment Miamla. I really need sleep but Reese is up after a marathon afternoon nap. Sazzles and MrSazzles just showed me there place on googleEarth. They also showed me where most of you all live as well. Interesting. We are all leaving in different directions in the morning. Sad Sad Sad. This has been an incredible vacation.

TwilightSurfer · 21/03/2009 02:15

Oof! I didn't realize Miamla's post was two hours ago. Hi anyway.

TwilightSurfer · 21/03/2009 02:19
