And this is what I've been doing - planning my new sitting room.
This is what it would look like if money was no object and John Lewis delivered overseas.

I did try Heals and Habitat but they were a bit modern, which I like but DH wants a bit of a rustic element too.

Actually that pale colour is rather pinky now - I should change it to a cream. I also need to add in storage and stuff.

dizzydixies · 19/03/2009 21:39

Shrek is my DD2's all time fav thing for some reason but it has to be Shrek 3 although she was getting in to Mary Poppins tonight - can anyone else see the connection?

steaky - is etsy an american site, the prices are all coming up in dollars?

Allezlesbluessteaknife · 19/03/2009 21:39

sorry dizzy that would be me, but at least you are supporting lovely crafty types rather than the faceless corporates, or something like that.

Allezlesbluessteaknife · 19/03/2009 21:41

Oops xpost - yes tis american, but plenty of UK and europeans on there. They have a shop local search too so you can find people close to you, there you go

dizzydixies · 19/03/2009 21:42

lordy, I already spend enough on notonthehighstreet and now I've another outlet!!

Allezlesbluessteaknife · 19/03/2009 21:42

dizzydixies · 19/03/2009 21:47

right having spent £1300 on doors today I'm going to log off before I start spending more money wishing you all a pleasant evening with sleeping babies

PetitFilou1 · 19/03/2009 21:51

Steaky - where is the rug from - it is just what I have been looking for for our living room! (and already have that blue cushion in my bedroom only in the olive/brown colourway )

We have no money otherwise I would be perpetually buying bits for our house. I have just found some purple towels in Heals for new ensuite shower room......

dizzy Good question - my dh would rather walk down the street naked than dress up as Cap'n Jack Sparrow for me in the bedroom Sex games just ain't his thing. Talking of which where IS Buckets?

Allezlesbluessteaknife · 19/03/2009 21:52

ah well t'was fun while it lasted

I'm away to bed too.

Bonne nuit.

Allezlesbluessteaknife · 19/03/2009 21:53

PF all from the mighty John Lewis.

I really am off this time.

Miamla · 19/03/2009 21:53

i've changed my mind! i don't think i want to know what petitfiliou and dizz have been up to tonight!

PetitFilou1 · 19/03/2009 21:53

dizzy I am of your large spend on notonthehighstreet too - are you a lottery winner on the sly? Or a spy?

PetitFilou1 · 19/03/2009 21:55

miamla It's ok it wasn't as bad as the 'I'm no longer a bumsex virgin thread' Not sure if I saw dizzy on that one

PetitFilou1 · 19/03/2009 21:56

I'm off to bed (still chuckling)

dizzydixies · 19/03/2009 22:04

Miamla - you're probably best NOT to ask!!

pf unfortunately very sensible new patio doors for the front room as sponsored by very generous PIL (the ones we have are badly broken and outwith out budget hence the sponsoring) and I DID see the bumsex virgin but didn't care to comment on it

dizzydixies · 19/03/2009 22:06

oh oh and am managing to make some headway with the cafe & have contacted a friend who is a surveyor, a solicitor who deals in commercial properties to help with the lease (am meeting him on Thurs) and am phoning the landlord to get him to come up with the keys and let me in to start making some plans

someone PLEASE remind me that this is all obo the trust and its not technically MY coffee shop [sigh]

night all again!!!

SibhaShillelaghUnderYourArm · 19/03/2009 22:50

Glad to hear things are going well with the cafe idea Dizzy. I think TS was right when she said go along with them and step into the breach when they fail. I love a good committee, but the idea of one running a cafe makes me shudder.

PF - I have been chuckling all week at the alarming prospect of having three real live children by next Christmas. I had planned on keeping DD2 as a baby for at least the next three years.

No1 - I'm glad DD is feeling a bit better. You really deserve a night out after all you've been through since Christmas. What an awful run of illness.

It was good to hear VG sounding so full of plans. I got truly rattled this week when a great friend from my old job got in touch to ask me to check the proofs of the last really big project I did. I've had the most awful pangs of longing to have at least the option of going back into a job I loved. They caught me by surprise really.

I must just re-set myself to the task of making great things happen here. I never feel this way so I think it's just because I'm so tired that it's harder to take the long view.

(I also need to stop trying to work out the odds that Cyteen works with one of my old friends, given that English litree circles in academia give me a single degree of separation)

Oh and pointless fact from my old job AnnVan. Coppola changes Keanu's hair colour throughout the Dracula film in a tribute to the inconsistencies in Stoker's badly edited novel. How sad is it that I've been carrying that fact around in my head for days now.

DD2 is teething and struggling with it the poor pup. But her nearly-crawling and her way of eating an apple so that only the rim of her face appears around it make up for most of the tough bits.

So sad all of you are missing the 'leprechaun hair' item on the Irish version of Dragon's den ...

TwilightSurfer · 20/03/2009 01:11

hi. very very very very tired. too much sun and fun today. tomorrow is our last full day.

wishing all well and blissful sleeps.

Expectant · 20/03/2009 01:58

Morning all. Sazzles and TS enjoy your last full day together.

A bit of a better night to report last night. DS appears to have another tooth - so that's 3 in really close succession but it appears to be an eye tooth so not really coming in the usual order - TS another one here!

No1 & Dizzy I know where you are with that not turning out to be like your Mums so please include me on that thread in 15 years!

All these lovely clothes for girls making me feel a bit broody so please post some for boys am struggling with christening outfit for DS next month. Like the John Lewis one that someone posted some time back but it's out of stock.

Steaky - I thought John Lewis did ship overseas.

Expectant · 20/03/2009 03:22

DS ate 3 yoghurts yesterday - thinking of changing my name to pf now too

dizzydixies · 20/03/2009 08:23

expectant all huge fans of yogurts in this house too

all welcome in the 'not turning into our mothers' committee for future ref - no offence to anyone who has a decent one

we got a full night sleep here am VERY grateful for it too. Woke up to find dishwasher has gone on blink BUT we can have an engineer out to fix it today for only £150 has to be done I suppose fingers crossed my smear test goes better and I don't need an engineer down there as well

right its toast of weetabix for brekkie this morning, sorry but I've a supermarket trip later and will get something nice for the Super Saturday Rugby weekend

TS enjoy your day - its grey and miserable here if that helps

No1 hope C has continued to improve

Sibh your posts always make me smile, I love the thought of you loving a good committee you are very welcome to join in with myself and pf who are valiantly trying to keep the babies as newborns, at least until they're about 6 or 7 - should we start a committee for it?!

oops if I don't manage to catch you at some point today I hope the christening goes well and you have a lovely relaxed, sunny day
