URGENT: I need ideas for bil's 40th birthday present. Not got much time (friday ). he's a tired dad of 2 and their ds is a really bad sleeper so at the moment anything like theatre tickets wouldn;t work. Plus he's travelling a lot at the moment. we're stuck!

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 18/03/2009 18:13

Yeah my dd has done a poo on her potty for the first time and I didnt even prompt her
bless.
sorry if tmi at tea time
but [very proud emoticon]

She ate 3 bowls of rice some home made chicken nuggets and a yoghurt and some prunes. she must have been hungry.

ds on full blw at tea time too.
Lots of steamed chicken, broccoli, green beans, colli and peas. oh and rice. Shuddered at the spices in the rice at first but soon tucked in.
Followed by prunes. He couldnt shove them in fast enough. Both bathed and sat watching ITNG before I attempt bed.
funny he drinks water lovely from a cup, and dd won't

cc I hope O is feeling better today.

cyteen · 18/03/2009 18:33

Ann I'm doing English Literary Research [ponce] It's hard work, especially re-engaging my brain after so long spent trying to kill it with beer, but very worthwhile Am due to start my second year in September, triple yikes!

no1 your poor Claudia She must feel rotten. Maybe you should try her with a momsicle too, might be soothing on the throat as well as packed full of BM goodness.

dizzy and poppy your day out sounds ace We've had a lovely time here too - walked into town through the temperate sunshine and had lunch with a fellow mum of boy. Joe enjoyed sushi and strawberries again. He has been mega-charming today

I've a style conundrum for you FISG ladies: I'm off to a wedding on May 1st so am after a frock that is stylish AND breastfeeding-friendly. A friend has suggested this for its button front and the wartime-era glamour, which I do like very much, but thought I'd ask what you all think and whether you would have any suggestions for me.

Also I need to get DS a cute outfit - don't mind spending a little bit to get him something not high street (same goes for me actually) - any suggestions gratefully received.

No1 {{{HUGS}}} goodness what a night last night. Sounds like dd1 is feeling better if she ate all that. Sending to the both of you.

Sazzles and family are off adventuring in a near by city. The boring Twilight family have been perched by the pool (which I accidently overheated...I have finally figured out how the pool heating system works). Absolutely BEAUTIFUL here today but very very windy. I fear we all will have wind burn by bedtime.

Sambo, for the record, my dd1 never slept through the night. I tried everything. She's still a bit stubborn regarding sleep.

I think Reese is teething again. How many teeth do they get at this point? It looks like the two on either side of the bottom center ones are the troubling ones now. Shouldn't she be getting top teeth next??? Very confused.

Allow me to also admit...I am completely CRAP about solids with Reese. Sazzles is so good with Emma's feedings. I'm very ashamed. Is it bad that I've not gotten into a solids feeding routine yet? She just gets so constipated from it. Guilt Guilt Guilt Guilt

Ooooo cyteen I like that! I think it would suit you and leave a few £££ for fab shoes etc. But I'm sure the real FISGs will have some tempting suggestions too... I will watch with interest, I am thinking we ought to have a party now DD's out of hospital - and as we won't be having a christening - and that's an excuse for a new frock too I reckon!

Really came on to send love to No1 and the little ones - hope DD is feeling better, if she ate all that it sounds like she might be!

ALBS men's presents are so hard. Does he read? I always give people books, don't know if that's a bit boring of me I assume you mean travelling for work rather than pleasure so if he spends a lot of time on planes/trains or in lonely hotel rooms something gripping might be welcome...

cyteen Very nice dress but agree linen not a good idea

Am very if you have the figure for the Edith dress that vg suggested - I love it. In fact I love all the ones she suggested. However not sure any dresses great for bf unless specifically designed as such. In the end I just hid in the loos at the wedding I went to......

Ooh some lovely suggestions there VG (although ironically - ha - enough, quite a lot of linen ). I am rather taken with the LK Bennett dress, might investigate further...

I tried a few frocks on yesterday in Debenhams as Joe had obligingly fallen asleep and was surprised at how many had a workable cross front, iyswim. Including this rather delicious Coast number. Thank god it didn't look much on, I don't think I'd get much of my £160's worth from a silk dress while breastfeeding

Didn't even think to look at Boden, will nose around there also.

pertelote I definitely think you should have a party and of course a new frock

TS from what you've posted about your feeding with Reese, I think you are nothing but a good mummy who knows her child. By the sound of things you are doing what suits her and that's what counts at this stage as far as I can see. So NO GUILT! Especially not on holiday.

TwilightSurfer · 18/03/2009 20:14

ALBS my dh is 40. His first suggestion was a stripper. I gave him a LOOK and then he said okay maybe a watch. His favorite watch of all time was a woven band swiss army watch. It's not pricey here. It's rugged. It's great for late night whatevers.

TwilightSurfer · 18/03/2009 20:17

Thanks Cyteen. Reese doesn't look needy if you know what I mean so the food thing has always been sort of a whatever type thing. However it is really noticable how constipated she gets when I add a meal or two of it. I've pondered whether the formula plus the food is just too much iron in combination. Just theorizing.

You're right...vacations aren't for guilt just guilty pleasures.

oopsRonanOGarascoconuts · 18/03/2009 20:23

I have come on to apologise for not being around alot, when I am about I forget people!!! Things are a bit manic here with Baptism, builders, MIL, teething, no sleep. BUT DH has really stepped up and is taking DD in the mornings and letting me get 45mins before he really needs to get going.

Is anyone finding that BLW (ish) is making them look at what they eat? I am finding that I have to sort 2/3 real meals a day and what I am going to eat is not appropriate fishfinger sanwiches are fine for me - DD eats the fish out the middle then I need to find her veg/fruit/salad to go with to balance her meals go to the fridge and discover we only have cold lentils, half a wilted cucumber etc. Althoug she loves prunes and will eat them all day. We have found some individually wrapped ones so I can take them out and about as a snack.

Cyteen - can I have your savory flapjack recipe please.

Back soon and I WILL catch up.

OP posts:
no1putsbabyinthecorner · 18/03/2009 20:32

oops hi, I too was going to ask for savoury flapjack recipe.
ds and dd love prunes as do I.

ts I agree with what cyteen said, you are great and doing your very best. Milk is still more important right now anyway.

vg you linked to some gorgeous dresses. I love that Boden one, in fact love them all.
cyteen the silk one is beautiful but mmm... bm on that
I bought a new dress the other day, I cant do links still, but it was on the main page of M&S the black linen one that (sorry dizzy) Myleene Klass is wearing.
Not sure when I will wear it, maybe for christening but will need to add a splash of colour I think, as dh says I always wear black.

dizzy you are a bad influence. I will confess to owning quite a bit of the Baby K range I think some of it is gorgeous, not had chance to see new range yet.
pertelot you absolutley should have a party and a well deserved new dress and shoes. How is dd doing??

dd and ds now fast asleep after a shite bed time, ended up bringing them down for another hour. Forgot they both slept till 3.30pm

My period came back yesterday, I suppose I cant complain of nearly 7 months without one.

e

cyteen · 18/03/2009 20:32

oops see here I made them with sweet potato instead of courgette and they turned out lovely.

TwilightSurfer · 18/03/2009 20:34

Sazzles and family just returned. They dined on aligator for lunch. OH AMERICA!!!

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 18/03/2009 20:34

Explains why I have been feeling so shite and spotty too.

hope buckets is enjoying her holiday.

Has anyone heard from alieight lately???

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 18/03/2009 20:37

Great cyteen sorry to sound daft, but what kind of baking tray did you use???
I find that site very helpful, have had some good recipes from it.

I have tried alligator, but I didnt like it.
Hope they had a great day.

cyteen · 18/03/2009 20:39

I just used one of my scabby old all-purpose roasting tins That recipe makes loads by the way, so choose a big'un.

Was thinking about Alieight the other day too, hope all is well with her. I'm sure she's probably just too busy enjoying real life or something.

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 18/03/2009 20:40

could you grate the onion too, or do you cook it first??
