Well today is my 7th wedding anniversary but there will be no celebration as my boobs are still sore and dh is still recovering after having the snip last thursday (stitches are not pretty).

Tried to put O in his own room last night but after an hour i went and put him back in my room, this really was only for my benefit.

PinkyMinxy · 06/04/2009 18:04

HI all well done bumble and becca

Happy wedding anniversary, Juanitad

Choc yes you need the baby set, unless you have a very advanced baby! We've got the old one, of course. Looks nice- I got the chair in white and the baby set is in beech.

Coolkat- you shouldn't feel any weight of the sling on your back. The main thing is to make sure the baby is high up enough in the sling, otherwise you'll get strain on your shoulders and back, which should not happen.

Hi Rutho- hope you are ok. I am having major anxiety issues. Mainly from whole family situation, but I don't think the hormones from my mirena are helping. I am wondering wether to get rid of it, TBH.

Hi Pinkglow. Hope all ok.

phee96 · 06/04/2009 18:30

Hi everyone, I haven't been on in ages as we've had problems with the internet. There is far too much for me to catch up on right now but I will read back over what I've missed shortly but I hope everyone is well.

Rutho - I said something similar to Ava last night too

Just out of interest (as I know all babies are different) for those of you who are ff, how often does your lo feed and how much? A is now 18+1 and weighed in at 12lb 5oz last week. She's definitely dropped from 25th to 9th percentile but the HV said it's not too much of a concern unless she keeps falling through the lines.

On a happier note, she rolled over for the first time last Tuesday and hasn't stopped since. She even managed to surprise herself the other day by carrying on rolling It was lovely as DH was in a bad mood because he wasn't working (and so not getting paid) and if he'd been at work he would have missed it

coolkat · 06/04/2009 18:33

Anyone know where abouts Rosa is in Italy?

I hope she is ok x

LackaDAISYcal · 06/04/2009 18:40

rosa is in venice so the other end of the country.

blardy bumble. He has been a misery guts all day. His dad comes home and he is sat on his knee laughing and squealing and being a little charmer . DH now thinks I've been using his velcro-ness as an excuse to sit on my arse all day.

Hey phee . Good to have you back with us.

tegan, are things easing off any boobwise? I hope it's less sore today.

tegan · 06/04/2009 18:42

hi lacks boobs seem to have a mind of their own. i have been on ab's since friday and i do try to express but nothing really comes out, still getting the hard lumps and i am trying to smooth them out bet is really hurts

LackaDAISYcal · 06/04/2009 18:50

fingers crossed it calms down soon for you. Have you tried hot flannels and then hand expressing?

AFingerofFudge · 06/04/2009 19:18

lacks just had to laugh at your post and read it to my DH. M has been a velcro baby too today, whingeing and fussing and generally being a pest. Hmm, now, yes you've guessed, he's doing that charming cooing and smiling and sitting contendedly. Think DH thinks I've been a slacker today too.!

Ceebee74 · 06/04/2009 20:02

Just checking in to say hi to everyone

Glad Rosa is the other side of Italy!!

rutho don't worry - I have lost count of the number of times I have shouted/swore at Sam because he appears to be crying for no apparent reason and he is not even that demanding most of the time - we all do it!!

Have to go - in the desperation to get DS1's bedroom decorated and finished asap, I am having to do the decorating whilst DH is away this week - I am quite scared as I have never painted a room before (I have helped DH but mainly in a 'would you like a brew' kind of way ) so tonight I am on sanding/dusting duties so I can start painting tomorrow as soon as DS1 is at nursery.

ellielou02 · 06/04/2009 20:18

Hi everyone,

Sorry for everones bad nights makes for a hard day when you've not had much sleep!! Well done to Bumble, finbo and becca yay!! Rutho rofl at what you said to finbo have said something similar in the past. Also Millie does something similar, she puts her head right back and it looks bloody sore then she gets onto her side.
tegan sorry your boobs still not right no advice tho sorry.
phee before I started weaning millie was taking 5 x 7oz bottles of hungry baby milk at approx 3 1/2 to four hours she now has 4 x 8oz bottles and 2 meals, HTH
I have a sling but to be honest havent used it much as it hurts like fuck on my back , I did like the idea of using it but would she not be too heavy now she is about 16lb or would a different sling work as in not put so much pressure on your back?? Thank you for all your kind messages, I have given myself a kick up the arse shake

ellielou02 · 06/04/2009 20:20

Go ceebee you must be feeling very energetic!!
Glad coolkat feeling a bit better

Rosa · 06/04/2009 20:39

Thanks for your thoughts but Yes thankfully I am the top end but it is terrible down there- over 100 dead and 70,000 homeless at the moment. Just feel so bad . Apparently according to other thread it was felt in rome and surrounds as well.
Ona baby note we had check today and Minirosa doing well and we have jabs in the morning. Lots of rolling babies - we are not there yet but oh she is getting grumpy if I leave her on the floor / gym or stop playing attention to her !

ruthosaurus · 06/04/2009 20:46

You guys are the best - I no longer feel quite so horrendously guilty.

Ceebs, I am dreading doing Finbo's room but on the other hand I can't wait to get him into his own room. At the moment we sneak upstairs in the dark, get changed in the bathroom so as not to make jingly belt buckle noises, creep into the bedroom, curse the stupidity that made us opt for floorboards rather than carpet and dive under the covers. On the bright side, sex is more fun as it now feels illict and sneaky.

Re decorating, get some decorators' wipes so you can mop up mistakes. They are a bit like really, really toxic wet wipes and pong to high heaven but are a lot less hassle than white spirit and rags. And buy crap brushes and bin them (v ungreen but I am shit at getting paint out of brushes and always end up chucking them because they dry all stuck together) or use a roller. I love decorating but am finding it hard to get on with - partly motivation and partly feeling like I can't with Fin around in case he needs something while I'm all painty. How are you juggling kids and decorating? I need to learn how to do this!

Finbo better this evening so far. Last night I tried waking him for a dream feed but basically it just ended up with him getting an extra feed that he didn't really need. He wasn't starving by morning but that was about it. So tonight I am going back to the plan of letting him call the shots and feeding him when he needs it.

Ellie, I have a Bjorn again sling which was lovely when Finbo was a newborn but while it technically takes his weight and will do for a while, it knacks my back and makes me feel like I'm going to fall over (he is probably about 17lb now).

ellielou02 · 06/04/2009 20:56

Just reread page sorry your still feeling a bit glum pinky , just wondered what the mirena is like, I am on mini pill (cant take combined) my periods are all to pot like get a mini one every other week I have been to docs and pretty sure its the pill, DH MEANT to be getting snip but secretly think he is chickening out now its come to it!

Ceebee74 · 06/04/2009 21:31

Right I am done for the night - all the filler bits have been sanded down and the woodwork has been dusted and wiped ready for painting tomorrow. I am ashamed to say that since we moved into the house 7 years ago, the room has been nothing but a storage/laundry room that hardly ever got dusted so it was pretty disgusting

Rutho thanks for the tips. I am painting it rather than wallpapering and I have bought one of those Paintpod things which basically you press a button on the roller and the paint magically appears (or something!) - hope it is as easy to use as it looks! As for the decorating/children business, (and without meaning to sound smug so I apologise in advance if it does ) but my 2 boys are very good sleepers - they are both in bed by 7.30 and 99% of the time, I won't hear another peep out of them all evening which means I have the entire evening to use. Also, Sam has 2 long naps (one in the morning and one after lunch) so, tomorrow when DS1 is at nursery, I am going to try and use Sams naps to get most of it done - and the rest of the time, he can sit in his bouncy chair on the landing and watch - although this will require a dummy as he really is not keen on his chair for long periods - but I am hoping to have it all done in the next 2 days (best laid plans.....)

I really wish DH was here to do it but it is just bad timing....and compared to people like Ellie, at least my DH is only away 2 or 3 nights at a time - I have total respect for Ellie and I can imagine how hard it must be as you near the end!! DH was away for 4 nights last week and by Friday evening, I was ready to hand the kids over to him and crack open the wine

Congrats to all the new 'rollers' No sign here of any rolling action and tbh, when I put Sam on his tummy, he really struggles to lift and keep his head up so even if he could roll, he would end up just lying flat on his face!! I know you shouldn't compare children but by 19 weeks, DS1 was rolling over constantly (once he mastered it he would not lie on his back at all) and would lie on the floor on his tummy with his head held really steady and high - Sam is totally different!!

Phee re bottle-feeding, Sam is 19 weeks on Thursday and at last weigh in (2 weeks ago) he was 14lb 12oz and he has 4 9oz bottles - at 7am, 11am, 3pm and 7pm. No food here yet...he is not ready

Emmanj · 06/04/2009 21:42

Evening all,

Good work with the decorating ceebee, it'll eb nice when its all done.

Rosa - we are not there yet with the rolling but i know what you nean about getting grumpy when left on the play gym, i think its frustration, trying to push up and over but cant quite do it yet!

phee - DD is FF and has 5 70z bottles a day 7am, 11am, 3pm, 6.30pm, 10.30pm. She is 17 weeks and 15lb 12oz. HTH

Have had a relatively calm evening, actually get to watch 24 tonight for weekly Jack Bauer fix!

Daisy - not testing yet (in denial i feel????!!!) , period due on thurs so am still patiently waiting! will keep u posted.

Ceebee74 · 06/04/2009 21:45

Oops - very Sam is actually 20 weeks on Thursday, not 19

ellielou02 · 06/04/2009 21:47

emmanj I think we are all patiently waiting
Awww thanks ceebee (but you should see my house its a tip, but I dont care) lol
Getting my hair done tomorrow and I cant wait 2 hours of not having to think about anyone or anything, I just hope millie takes her lunch from MIL or I will have to dash up the road with a head full of tinfoil!!

barbareebaa · 06/04/2009 21:50

hey ladies
just had a quick read through as I never know when W is going to wake - it's usually 3/4 times up to 12 and then about every hour and a half after. But we're all going through it at the mo I think!
W can roll onto his side - he always looks quite surprised when he gets there tho
what can I remember???
Glad rosa is ok. I haven't seen any news today so I didn't know. How awful.
Rutho I too have had words with W - ver reassuring that we all have our moments!
Tegan soz about the boob probs
who was on about increased poo? was it FOF? I was also going to say maybe he's eating more - this happened to W.But like Bumble W's pooing habits change all the time!

So I took W to bed this aft after a halfhearted failed attempt at getting W to take a nap in his cot. We slept from 12 to 4.30!! Must have needed it though. We had sil staying over on their way to visit dh's parents in France. W was a model baby yesterday - so funny and chatty

obs meant to say hope you're feeling less worried. Books I have got from Library are gina ford (spit spit but also oh ok - read this bit where she says the reasons for demand feeding are 'a bit wooley' - plah!) Also Trace Hogg - interesting and Sears and sears I love those guys - definitley up my street - wish I could get comfy co-sleeping - can do an hour or 2 but not a whole night .
So in short, I have felt books to add to the general feeling of being judged and failing but not the Sears chaps who are well sorted imo!

Cor. Sorry about that.

chocolategal · 06/04/2009 21:52

You enjoying 24 emmanj? It's kinda annoying me a bit!
Well done on all that decorating ceebee! Oh ceebee u am completely Lost with lost! The thread in telly addicts confuses me more!
Ellielou I have my much needed hair appointment next week, can't wait! Also your house didn't look a mess when I saw it!

barbareebaa · 06/04/2009 21:56

ooh! Meant to ask - when you wean do babies need any other drink than breastmilk? And what is baby rice (although I could just google and not waste your time )

ceebee well done on the decorating - sounds very productive indeed! I do like the look of those paintpod jobs - makes it look so much easier!

ellielou02 · 06/04/2009 21:57

choclategal did you not notice the door that was never opened that is where i throw put my ironing and anything that I dont know where else to put it, but will need to get it sorted soon as its gonna be my new bedroom.

MerryMarigold · 06/04/2009 22:11

barbs babyrice is tasteless goo! ds1 refused it since I had been giving him licks of lovely tasty stuff for weeks. we will see with these 2.

Dh says I have to shut down.

Byeeeeeeeeee

LackaDAISYcal · 06/04/2009 22:23

they don't barbs, BM is all they need and will drink if thirsty as well as hungry. You could give them water if you like, but they don't really need it.

I'm off to bed and hoping for an hour or so before bumble wakes up.....he had a three boob feed before he went to bed so hopefully that'll do him for a good few hours.

barbareebaa · 06/04/2009 22:23

come back merry

i don't get weainig. i don't know what to do or where to start. do i need a book?
