hey pinky

what sort of sling are you getting? misdee started a sling chat thread on Friday....it's very very busy!!

bumble is also rolling onto his side, in fact his legs are on his front and his upper torso on his side....he just can't get over the hump caused by the lower arm iyswim, and gets really really frustrated. If you help him roll over he seems to be very happy to be on his side. He is getting more vocal as well, and has also learned to cry if he is put down or if anyone turns their back on him....clever bumble, but it makes for a difficult life.

chocolategal · 05/04/2009 21:39

Hi everyone,
Hana I have a phone with Internet which means I can read the thread and keep up but it's not the easiest to post messages so this one will be short!

Pinky you are sounding better, you feeling better? Also was it you that posted the link for a tray that fitted the tripp trapp? If you don't mind me asking where did you order it from?
I bought a chicco polly but it is too bulky for my kitchen and dining room so going to give it to MIL and get the tripp trapp.

Sorry things are tough at mo cricri, also ellielou. You do a fab job on your own,I would struggle for a week on my own!

Catch up more tomorrow when got the laptop.
Here's to sleepy nights everyone
Xx

MerryMarigold · 05/04/2009 21:41

lacks i can visualise bumble exactly as baby wiss does this! judo is trying to roll from the head/ shoulders, but she is going from the bottom end. she can roll from front to back too, but judo still likes there like a plum! he giggles a lot though .

pinxy, how are you doing on the inside?

i am getting ikea 9quid high chair! ok, it's an extra 4 quid for the tray but still . ds1 had a wooden one which he still sits on as a chair, but we don't have any room for 2 more wooden highchairs which turn into chairs. i think when they are ready to eat at table/ can reach, I will get those small chairs you put on top of your normal dining chair, but till then...

i went for a 3hr walk just me n babies yesterday. it was lovely in the park, across some wild parkland too, made the most of the mountain buggy. shattered now.

anyone with babies feeding a lot, mine are waking every 1.5-2hrs. i don't know why. they don't eat that often in the day. grrrrr.

LackaDAISYcal · 05/04/2009 21:56

I have just been up to sort bumble out...he was trying to roll over in his sleep and getting really annoyed and growly . Of course he woke up and has just had another feed...hopefully it'll help him sleep a bit later. He seems really unsettled today for some reason.

cricri · 05/04/2009 22:00

Daisy Thanks for the tips for dealing with people's questions - I'll use them next time!
Rosa Glad the christening went well and that you had such a lovely time with your family. It is hard isn't it when they go home and you're abroad. Still, 3 months will fly by.
ellielou Sorry you're feeling a bit with DH away. I also don't know how you do it on your own.
Pinky Good to see you. I'm also interested in what sling you're going to get although I'm very happy with my Closer baby carrier
Merry I went for a lovely walk by the sea with my mum this afternoon in the sunshine We ended up walking 9 miles in total Elise was in her buggy and had an al fresco feed on a picnic bench.
Thanks for your sympathy about my night out which was curtailed - E has been an angel tonight - asleep in the sling since 7.30pm and I'm actually going to have to wake her up to put her to bed. Must be all that sea air although I refuse to walk 9 miles every day to buy myself some peace in the evening!
Hope everybody has a good night!

PinkyMinxy · 05/04/2009 23:57

oh wow sorry I missed all your lovely posts!I was busy sling shopping

Have bought a new Didymos in this lovely two-tone brown/red colour, and a ring sling, which should be nice and light for around the house. Not realy had a ring sling before, so interested to see how I get on with it.

Daisy do not send me to a sling thread- I will end up going on and on and buying more slings

Inside my head is a bit of a mess, Merrym, TBH. And my heart is quite torn. But my children are beautiful, DH is doing his best and I am discovering some lovely friends, so not all bad.

Hope you are doing well. Love your recent FB pics, keep meaning to comment.

choc hi I have ordered one on line, but I will tell you where I got it from when I get it- should be tomorrow or tuesday. I haven't ordered from them before so don't want to recommend until I know the outcome, IYSWIM. I didn't get the tray, I think Hana asked about one, and I had seen one on ebay. But I've noticed that tripp trapp do a table mounted tray, but it's very expensive, I think.

cricri I am glad the sling has worked out well for you . I find I get a strong sense of wellbeing carrying my children in a sling.

Oblomov · 06/04/2009 08:08

Morning.
Sorry for Cricri's night out being cut short. Oh cricri, I do so hope that your cluster feeding drops off soon.
And ellielou, love to you. I don't know how you do it on your own, I, like you, have no one to give me a break. I am thus forced into looking into putting M into the gym creche.
Barbs, how are you getting on digesting all that 'sleep solution' books. Have they helped at all ?
First day of easter holidays and ds1 still in bed ! Mind you we went out as a family yesterday to Bocketts Farm, for one of ds's classmates birthday party. We had a lovely time and we were ALL cream crackered. One of the joys of easter holidays is having a lie in, eh. Only just not for us mummies !!

chocolategal · 06/04/2009 08:10

Morning
How was everybodys nights?

Thanks for that pinky, I saw a clic clac tray on eBay that fitted the tripp trapp but it was very expensive, I can't see a price for the table top on that link but I'm sure it will be more!

LackaDAISYcal · 06/04/2009 08:23

baaaaaad baaaaaaad night here, with bumble waking up for a feed at 9.30, 12.30, 1, 2 and 3.....and then waking up groaning every half hour after that. He slept on his side with his head really far back and he was either uncomfortable or annoyed that he couldn't roll over....but when I rolled him onto his back he just rolled over to his side again. And he puked up everywhere this morning just after I'd fed him. It completely soaked a big muslin cloth.

I am cream crackered.

Looking like it might be a lovely day here again. I have mountains of housework ot do and want to plant peas and beans with DD this morning.

AFingerofFudge · 06/04/2009 08:43

Morning all, not had a chance to post ove rthe last few days, although have been keeping up with quick reads every now and then. Weekends are all go here with all 3 DS's in the house. And of course if you remember from previous posts from me how guilty I feel at not being able to spend as much time with DS1&2 then I go out of my way at weekends when DH is around to look after M, to do stuff with them. Hmm, normally means listening to them going on about their football cards that they collect, or being referee for their football matches.
Anyway, first day of the Easter hols, and I'm hoping all will go smoothly having all 3 to entertain. . Ah well, they need a holiday too!!! M is still asleep, thankfully.

I have a question. Since last thursday, M, who will be 4 months this week, has completely changed his poo life (sorry if tmi). Before this, he would do on average, one a day, sometimes one every day and a half. Since Thursday, he has been doing one every few hours, so probably 5 a day, and also doing them during the night(!) even though he doesn't wake for a feed. They are not squitty, well, only loose in the normal way they are loose, and he seems completely normal besides. Any ideas? Am completely flummoxed.

pinky interested in your sling shopping, I have a babybjorn that I use, though I have been looking at a closer carrier or a kari me. Haven't indulged though. What do you think of the closer carrier cricri? obs hope you're feeling a chipper as you sounded in your post

rosa hope your new outfit looked great at the christening! Glad you had a good time.

lacks Planting peas and beans sounds very impressive. I'll be lucky if I manage to mow the lawn this year

Ok, better go and do something, like get those boys of their DS's!!

LackaDAISYcal · 06/04/2009 08:52

fudge, not sure about the pooing thing. Has he been feeding more than usual? If he is having a growth spurt then this might make his poos more productive? I'm sure it's normal. Bumble's pooing habits change all the time though so I'm not the best person to ask. If you start a thread in either BFing or nappies you'll get lots of shared expereinces that might reassure you a bit.

londonboots · 06/04/2009 09:57

oh daisy, shocker here as well. M feeding/awake 9, 12, 2-4, 5-6 and finally up at 7.45 smiling and chatting away, bright as ever. DP and I both shattered. (why isn't there a tired emoticon??) not sure what is going on...his cold seems better and he slept quite well night before...and because we've got the end of the bed raised he can't roll over onto his front so that's not waking him up...

rosa glad christening went well! LOL at minirosa trying to suck on priests thumb!

Oblomov · 06/04/2009 10:04

Sorry for bad night Daisy.
Could someone point in the right direction of 'for sale'. I want to sell my freedom sling. But the whole selling formats have changed recently. And I don't know where to go/how to do it.

LackaDAISYcal · 06/04/2009 10:15

Obs, if you click on topics, it's down at the bottom of the list. you have to pay the £5 CAT subscrption if you haven't laready.

flipping velcro baby today. He just won't stop crying/whinging. DS1 and DD are fighting over who gets to put his dummy back in

Oblomov · 06/04/2009 10:32

Thanks Daisy. Have listed it. Had CAT already. Cheers.

cricri · 06/04/2009 11:37

Daisy and Londonboots I'm joining you with the bad night [very tired emoticon] It started off promising with E asleep in the sling from 7.30pm and transferred to bed at 10.30pm with a quick feed. However, she woke up at 1.45am with a really blocked up nose and just wouldn't settle in bed again as she was really uncomfortable lying flat. I ended up putting her in the sling to keep her upright and sitting in my office swivel chair reading. DH is ill too with a cold which has gone to his chest so I hope E hasn't got the same one. Hopefully the anti-bodies in my milk will help her. She's been in the sling most of the morning after waking at 7.45am, apart from a short spell when DH took her so I could have a shower and 20 minutes in her bouncer. She seems OK in herself and her nose is better than it was during the night so I might try to have a nap with her this afternoon. We have a cranial osteopath appt at 2.30pm which is slap bang when she would normally nap. And DH is in bed asleep as he's not feeling well.
Fudge I love my close carriers (I bought a second one as I was struggling to wash and dry just one of them!), they're really comfortable for both me and E. I tend to wear her a bit lower than in the pictures on the website (the top of her head is level with my collarbone) so that she can feed in it. The material does stretch a bit over time, especially now she's getting heavier, so I occasionally have to tug on the side bits to tighten it up again if I'm walking around. But these days I try to sit down once she's asleep because it's hard work lugging 8kg of baby around!
I hope M's poo situation sorts itself out, you must be getting through loads of nappies!
We have the opposite problem - E hasn't done a poo since Friday so I'm not looking forward to it when it does finally happen!
Obs Sounds like you had a lovely day yesterday. Glad DS1 had a lie-in to give you a bit of a break looking after M.
Daisy Hope you got your peas and beans planted. Our neighbour gave us some broad bean seedlings the other day and I managed to pot them up after taking E for a walk when she was still half asleep in her buggy. She started whinging before I'd finished - I think she's a bit young for gardening at the moment I did manage to mow the lawn yesterday though whilst DH was looking after her. First time in over a month

PinkyMinxy · 06/04/2009 13:10

sorry just scan reading as I have a housefull here!

Daisy- sorry for bad night.

Fudge- step away from the baby bjorn. They are really awful for your back, neck etc. They are not very good for the baby either really- a good sling should support the baby right across the bottom to the back of his/her kness. Closer are a good carrier for early months as they are stertchy but if you have lareger baby or want to carry for longer a woven sling is really the best way to go.Mei Tais are very good also- freehand (I have) or baby/toddler hawk are very poplular.

CHOC courirer tried to deliver chair today buti 9I was out at buddy's. Bought it from Back In action, best price I could find. They do have ex-display bargains if you live near the store. Wasn't worth it for me as postage would have negated any saving.

speak laterxx

coolkat · 06/04/2009 14:08

Morning ladies

iasy sorry for your bad night. Becca woke twice last night to, although did not feed.

All this sling talk is above me, with my back I'd be one the floor, I saw a baby today in one and she looked so cosy. I got bought a Premax baby bag and never got the hang of it.

Crici walked 9 miles! Wow that's some walking!

Barbs hope your having a better time of it.

Rosa are you ok? I heard there had been an earth quake in italy. x

We had our appoinment today about Rebecca's hand. I am sure I told you that her little finger does not unfold. Well the problem is with the bone not ligaments so to put it right she would have to have a General Anaesthetic therefore they would not do anything until she is a lot older as at the moment is would just be for cosmetic reasons. The Doc was lovely. So it looks like the bent finger is to stay.

I am feeling better than I have in ages. Still had upset tummy this morning though

On way bak from hosp we had lunch at Asda and went to Next so I could chose something for my birthday. Ended up treating the girls too!!

Rebecca keeps rolling over but then moaning as she is stuck on her front

LackaDAISYcal · 06/04/2009 14:42

bubmle just rolled over onto his tummy.....and I bloody well missed it! I was composing a message to MNHQ about my settings always changing

but go bumble . Might stop his whinging for a bit!

Pinkglow · 06/04/2009 15:23

I havent posted for days, we havent brought a highchair yet, TBH we havent the room at the moment plus Henrys not interested in food anyhow. Might take others example and freeze some food up now though so that 'its there'

Obs - I know 2 ppl who have had Social services called on them, once by a school and once by someones sister. The first case they came round then buggered off never to be seen again. The second case the family got 'actioned planned' (although they didnt call it that) basically it was things like in 6 months you must try to have the house in order and for their school attendence to improve etc etc, 6 months later they did a review and all was fine.

Henry now has a tooth through - others to follow though which are giving him abit of gip but on the whole its not too bad. Hes getting a cold so wonder if its similar to the one your husband has cricri?

ruthosaurus · 06/04/2009 16:04

I am a bad mummy - last night as Finbo woke up for the 3rd time (hungry and world's wettest nappy cos of the other 2 feeds) I told him to shut the fuck up and go back to sleep.

DH was not impressed at all but Fin just smiled at me. And I did change and feed him. I didn't just leave him there.

So there is a 5 month growth spurt? Phew, thought I was going mad... Seriously.

Got to go, more baby squeaking from up in that thar bedroom. Poor wee mite, he is also now not impressed.

chocolategal · 06/04/2009 16:17

Thanks pinky for that link, do you have the baby set? Just wondered if this was a necessity or not.

Well done to bumble

Sorry everyone is having such rough nights, it does make everything so much harder in the day doesnt it.
Glad you are feeling a bit better today coolkat.

chocolategal · 06/04/2009 16:22

Have just had a proper look at the tt without baby set and realise you need baby set!!

LackaDAISYcal · 06/04/2009 16:27

rutho I shouted something similar at bumble earlier as I was trying to do something and every time I put him down he started howling

his waking last night has just confirmed that being next to me is causing him to wake up. I'm going to put him in beside DD tonight and see how that goes.

He has rolled a few more times.....then face plants and gets cross.

He is sitting up on his own a bit better as well.

but has something going on with his tummy as he is going red faced and groany a lot and has puked up on me and it stinks to high heaven where normally it's just messy rather than stinky. Makes me feel bad for yelling at him.

ruthosaurus · 06/04/2009 16:57

Finbo rolls over in his sleep onto his side with his head riiiiiiight back - it looks frankly agonising - and then gets stuck and squeaks. So I turn him onto his back, and he shouts at me for waking him up And then demands milk as compensation. He is very bossy these days and good for him, he needs to be otherwise he would starve

Yay bumble for rolling but ew with the puking. God, we SO need coffee. Hugs to all!
