Evenin' all!

I feel like I have had a hell of a couple of days but I haven't really done anything out of the ordinary. Could be due on, maybe.

Congrats on the Mirena, Pinxy, hope it is going well. Mine is causing some ishoos at the moment and I went to the doc who got a nurse to do swabs - do docs not do these any more? - and told me it was probably just the coil settling in, but I actually felt a bit poorly with it, so thought it best to get it checked out. And get this - because I filled out a questionnaire about the coil when I got it fitted, I get a £10 Boots voucher! Yay! Although I will probably spend it on nappies.

Hana, lol at the picking, tis all I can do not to (I am such a picker).

Naming days - I want a hippy dippy one in a field in the summer where we pass Finbo over a bonfire or summat and all shout "Hail Finlay". But I don't think DH's quite traditional family will go for it... DH will, he is a fantasy nerd (the sci-fi kind, not the sex kind).

Ooh - bad DH behaviour (not mine, who is having a fab week): my mate's DH ran up £20 of pay per view porn the other month - she noticed it on the sky bill and asked him what the unlabelled adult movies were - oops. She is annoyed because 1) she forwent naughty chocolate cake the other day to save money and 2) he could have bought a saucy DVD for both of them for that kind of cash... Tsk.

Anyway, got to go, food don't cook itself. More's the pity.

LackaDAISYcal · 12/02/2009 18:55

evening....busy day here today. A friend popped over this morning then we went to mini-movers this afternoon, thena quick visit to M&S to pikc up a Dine in deal for Saturday and then tea for me and the littlies (DH is battling through the snow somewhere on the M1). DD didn't get her usual afternoon nap and was beside herself after teatime so I just changed her nappy and put her to bed an hour and a half earlier than usual. She'll be up with the lark tomorrow no doubt.

Bumble is lying on the floor and wriggling about, and is trying very hard to roll over. He's getting one leg over, but getting stuck on the lower arm. He's managed to rotate about 90 degrees though! He loved mini-movers today, even though it was for DD and not him! The big yellow silk circle was the Best Thing in the world and he got soooo excited about it

DS1 just licked my arm .....nutter!

Minirosa is full of a chesty cough its nasty she has been feeding every 2 hrs .
We had booked teh chirstening for April 5 but its Palm Sunday and so they can't do it . FOund out this pm . Thankfully rellies coming over on the friday so we are fingers crossed that it can be done on the sat- Thing is church will be empty as it will just be us 50% don't speak a word of Italian so I will have to practice my mass !
Well done Bumble keep it up !!

phee96 · 12/02/2009 20:38

Rosa minirosa is gorgeous. Sorry to hear about her cough, hope it gets better soon

Quick question - DD has a patch of skin on her forehead that has been very dry for a few days. It feels really rough to touch and has sometimes been going flaky or red. It seems to be itching her too as she keeps rubbing it. I've been using olive oil to moisturise it but it doesn't seem to be enough. Is there anything I can do for her or is it worth a trip to the Dr's? It seems to be extending down her left cheek today

On a happier note, she was an absolute star when I took her into work today Everyone loved her. Had a really good day in Sheffield with my mum, even if it did start snowing heavily on the way home. Think we tired A out as she's fast asleep in her crib, a first for this week!

Ceebee74 · 12/02/2009 20:40

Evening all - had a lovely day and met a friend for lunch

Pinky I forgot it was half-term next week. The film is over 2 hours long - will your DH be happy with that? It may be worth leaving it a week as the TC will be heaving next week - what do you think?

Eye colour Sam's are a very dark grey colour - definitely grey and not brown. No idea how long it takes for their final colour to come through but we all have dark brown eyes so no idea where the grey comes from (but then again we all have very dark hair and DS1 is very blond )

Daisy clever Bumble I remember DS1 doing exactly the same re the rolling over - he was (and still is) a determined little bugger and kept trying and trying from about 3 months old - he finally managed it at 4 months old and never laid on his back again Glad you are feeling better.

Pinkglow that sensory class looks fab - none near me either

Ceebee74 · 12/02/2009 20:42

Fudge your boys are gorgeous and they look so proud of their little brother

barbareebaa · 12/02/2009 20:52

Hello good evening!

Well am in a bit of a flap. Had W weighed today and he's only put on a couple of ounces these past 2 weeks - 9 weeks 14lb 10, now 11 weeks 14lb 12 nurse asked me if he had been under the weather and I said I didn't think so but then I remembered that he had developed a bit of an aversion to my left boob (not quite over it - have to pick my moment to offer it to him). Also he quite often pulls off my nipple and looks behind him then comes back for one suck then does it again - this goes on until he either falls asleep or we do something else. He's waking alot in the night and not going back to sleep - I think he's not getting enough milk maybe?
For the first time today I am wondering if I am not producing enough milk but how can that be? I am exclusively b-fing so surely my boobs will be responding to what he's asking for???
Also are there certain foods/ drinks that should be avoided? Today I drank a pint of fresh orange today and during and after feeding W was doing little sicks. Bah! Could the milk be too acidic?
Soz for the me post x
Am going to catch up now!!

barbareebaa · 12/02/2009 21:04

daisy sound like a lovely day Those M&S deals look good - am quite tempted myself! Impressed Bumble is almost rolling
FoF lovely pics
CeeBee Glad you had a lovely day!

Jealous of ladies doing activities with babies - there's quite a bit I could go to but am shy and have no nice clothes and the ladies I've see coming away look like they smell expensive and they've got real Ugg boots and not the pretending ones from primark

maybe will drag my mil to something when she comes to stay!

MonkeyMargot · 12/02/2009 21:13

Phew...I FOUND YOU! Thought I'd lost you all forever....sob!

sausage absolutely love the new name!

Barbs glad your boobs are better - your LO's weight sounds fairly impressive already, does the HV think it really an issue it has slowed a little this week? He is clearly a big lad for his age - well done!

lacks great that Bumble almost rolling over!

All good here. Saw TheReader with Kate Twinset Winslet today - was fab, fab. I cried a lot. DH came too, and we had a curry lunch at the arts centre where film was screening afterwards. A lovely day!

Ooh - and great news re. our neighbours who lost their baby.
After inviting us over, then saying they couldn't face seeing our LO, they then got back in touch to say they wanted some sort of normality to resume, and could all 3 of us go for dinner. So we went last night and it was lovely. C.P slept upstairs good as gold. And the best bit is that they are expecting again - so hopefully this will help move their lives forward.

No gingers here - DH blonde, I am dark. C.P so far has brown hair and blue/grey eyes.

Anyone know the latest point at which eye colour can change?

Love to everyone - gingers and all.
P.S. My fave biscuit are ginger nuts.
And I do actually find red-headed men rather aattractive. Damian Lewis. oooh.

Pinkglow · 12/02/2009 21:13

barbareebaa - I turned up to the sensor class with wet hair.......nuff said

LackaDAISYcal · 12/02/2009 21:17

barbs, you have been doing a great job with the feeding inspite of all the issues you have been having so try not to feel too upset or worried . He is still gaining weight and this may be just a blip. It also may be due to all that's been going on with the blocked ducts and his latching issues due to the TT. If he hasn't been feeding effectively, then it may have compromised your supply. Can you see a BFC for advice? or call one? As things seem to have gotten better with the feeding over the last few days, can you have a babymoon and do lots of skin to skin and get him feeding well again? What have they said about it? Do they want you back to reweigh in a couple of weeks? If so, hopefully the fact that things have improved generally will mean that he is gaining well by then.

Also, what we eat does flavour the milk and some foods cause more of a reaction in babies than others. With DD I couldn't even sniff cabbage and she'd be screaming and windy and a whole bag of sherbert lemons had a nasty effect when she was teeny tiny , so the orange may have upset him a bit.

And don't worry about going to baby groups, there are usually all sorts of mums there, and people are usually really friendly

LackaDAISYcal · 12/02/2009 21:22

Monkey, that's great news about your neighbours expecting again. I hope things go well for them this time.....and great that this news is the reason for their change of outlook It'll be nice for CP having a neighbour who is close to her in age as well.

OP posts:
PinkyMinxy · 12/02/2009 21:28

hi all
Sounds like bumble is getting around a bit!

I loved baby massage, but they are so oversubscribed here you can only do it with your 1st baby. Pink-that class looks lovely.

Barbs I would recommend you try something like a baby massage group. THat way you can be doing something organised with yuor baby and chat to a few people afterwards if your feel up to it, rather than going to a purely 'social' bay group, IYSWIM?
re-feeding, I can't really say what it might be- except that 'not producing enough milk' is actually quite a rare thing, despite what HV would have us believe..hopefully Daisy will come with a message from her sponsors (kellymom) soon with reassurance. TBH I don't get mine weighed enough to know if they've dropped weight/slowed in a few weeks- I suspect it may go up and down..

ceebee DH would be fine with the DC, but if you would rather wait that's ok.

I won't be able to do the week after as DH has his op on the monday of that week, so I'll have DD1 with me.

Im is supposed to have her jabs on the tuesday at 10am- will be a rush as it's at least 20 min walk from DS's school to the drs.

But you could go and try it out- we're hoping DH will be much more mobile after 2 weeks.

Rutho sorry you are having issues with your coil.

PinkyMinxy · 12/02/2009 21:30

lol it took me so long to type all that I missed loads!

PinkyMinxy · 12/02/2009 21:37

THat's lovely news about your neighbours, MonkeyM

eye colour - I think it can take up to a year, And I think genetically brown eyes are dominant, but obviously with all genetics it's still random. Ginger gene has to be present in both partners for hair colour.

here we are eye colour

barbareebaa · 12/02/2009 21:46

mm the nurse who weighed W asked me to go back next week so she can get an idea if anything is a-miss.
So pleased for your neighbours - what fabulous news and lovely that you had a nice evening with them
Daisy will try and get in touch with a bfc- would make sense that supply compromised but still Will try to do some skin to skin over the next couple of days - good plan!
Will definitely think about a baby group - good idea to go somewhere like baby massage where you 'do' something as it takes pressure off and the social bit wouldn't be forced I guess. There is a baby bounce at my local library where I think you go along and they do rhymes and singalong for teeny tiny babies (I suspect the babies don't do the singing tho) and you bounce the baby on your knee and that sounds like fun but W gets a bit and I'm afarid of the WAAAAAAAH also!
Rutho sorry missed your post about coil - hope it gets sorted asap!

LackaDAISYcal · 12/02/2009 21:55

pmsl at the cross post pinky, but that I didn't link kellymom this time . Weighing too often can be counter productive though.

Here are the WHO growth charts as well which are based on BF babies and are more up to date than the red book charts which are for a mix of BF and FF babies.

It could also be that he has stretched out barbs. My friend's baby would put on a bit of weight...plateau as he grew in length...put on more weight, but it wasn't obvious if just looking at the change in his weight from one weighing to the next. Have they plotted it on the chart?

OP posts:
barbareebaa · 12/02/2009 22:01

yep - he's gone down last 2 weigh-ins. but nurse did say actually - you've jus remided me - that he may be doing 'other' growing so maybe that's it.
am going to look at the link - thanks! btw soz re; typing - teatime

PinkyMinxy · 12/02/2009 22:04

hehe sorry just being cheeky.

BTW, glad you had such a lovely day today, Daisy.

LackaDAISYcal · 12/02/2009 22:08

the fact that he has gone up this weighing, albeit by just a little, is a change in the right direction then barbs

hopefully now the feeding is easier, it'll pile on. Try and get as many feeds in him as possible. Oats are good for building your supply (good excuse to eat flapjack ), as is fenugreek; you can get fenugreek capsules in health food stores I'm sure.

I'm off for some supper and then bed.

night all

vbab78 · 12/02/2009 22:10

hi ladies. PHEW so glad i found you. had a panic attack. will try and catch up.

A - Me and Dad both said today apart from the obvious feeds and bum changes it is like I havent got a baby. She is just so happy and smiley and seems to be able to amuse herself or fall asleep whatever the mood takes her. She is amazing especially considering she has the eczema issues and injections yesterday.
DS on the other hand over the last 2 days has turned into a pain and the bad behaviour (allsorts but shouting, hitting me and not doing what told more than normal) has resurfaced along with a mardy streak. I think he has started feeling insecure again but couldnt tell you why as nothing has changed in mine or our family's behaviour.

vbab78 · 12/02/2009 22:15

No one on the implanon contraceptive implant then? Supposed to be having it fitted next week but having doubts. I like the structure of the normal pill so I know when I will have a period and if I dont want to have it (e.g. on hol) then just continue the pill whereas the doc said the implant can affect periods differently from woman to woman, 1 woman will have none and another will have them all over the place. However the advantages of the implant over the pill are not having to remember to take it (never been a prob in past) and its not affected by illness. HELP.

barbareebaa · 12/02/2009 22:17

Thanks Daisy, will seek out flapjack!!
vbab Glad little A is being such a treasure Am taking W to drs tomorrow as his excema is getting worse and E45 isn't touching it at the mo
So sorry you are having a hard time with ds. Gosh -so hard to figure out what they're thinking, hope he settles down again soon x

PinkyMinxy · 12/02/2009 22:46

VBAB I have a firend who has the implant. Has been ok, except it's brought on her acne a bit.

I'm a bit nervous about this mirena coil, TBH, ass I can't take the pill, will have to see what the hormones do.
