very quickly, I can't recommend thge Stokke |Trip Trapp highly enough (highchair) no cumbersome tray so the baby eats at the table with you as it can be pulled into the table....DS1 still sits in his now (they convert to chair IYSWIM)as they are height adjustable....also very good resale value!

off now zx

ChocOrange05 · 10/03/2009 21:03

Oh - I feel honoured you like my title, I haven't started a PN thread before, I'm itching to do so now (geeky excitement from me) but we still have 22 posts left!

Hello everyone, blimey you lot can talk. Sorry but I only ever get chance to drop in occaisionally, have had to get myself a glass of wine as I panicked when I couldn't find you all! Glad to see everyone is doing well, sorry Daisy have not managed to read every post, are you ok? have noticed mention of an op.

My DS is 5 and is having an op next week, luckily he will be at a private hospital nearby, but feel it will be too much for us to take DD along, it is a really minor op and he has had it before, so DH will take him and stay with him, should be home by mid afternoon. I went to bits when he had an op on NHS a few years ago, was completely crap, waited from 7am in the morning and got home late evening. I might pop down there when I know he is out of surgery for a while though.

Had a complete mare of a week, crappy old car had MOT and failed, it is only worth about £800 but the work would cost £1,400, they mentioned something about putting oil in it etc which went completely above my head. Have had to sort out funds which isn't great as on Mat Leave. Friends have been good though taking DS to school for me as it is way to far to walk and I have a bad foot at the moment and cant walk very far without being in lots of pain (at Drs on Thursday to get it sorted).

Tegan, I had a lovely expensive travel system with DS, however, with DD (and a progressive aching back) I ditched the travel system and I bought a Petit Star which is much like the quinny but much cheaper and it reclines and is suitable from birth, got mine off the net (it was recommended by Mother & Baby) and it came with raincover and a really cosy footmuff/cosytoe - DD is really snug and comfy in it - I use if everyday for the school run and will take it on holiday as it is so compact and lightweight - I love it! Have just started to raise the back a little as DD is a bit nosey and seems comfortable.

Hello to everyone and sorry for rambling on!!

X

Smiles

Dozymare · 10/03/2009 21:05

sorry am back, had a mini crisis with DH trying to cook He has just got in, wasn't intereted in my sushi so thought he would make a stir fry - he burnt it!

Anyway, pinky and I x posted. The Stokke is an amazing highchair, it took me 4 to get to this one, and now i wouldn't be without!!

choc I LOVE your new title. Tiger grabbed some brocoli tonight off DS2 plate - I let her have it and she spat it out!

Dozymare · 10/03/2009 21:08

tiger has been peping out of her mountain buggy now for a few weeks. they are ace as you can adjust to whatever height you want.

Can you see I am posting random stuff so choc can start her thread??

Oh Choc, got my frock on today - had lots of comments, especially from fashionista mum who couldn't believe where it was from!! She used to work at Harpers - you got good taste girlie!

londonboots · 10/03/2009 21:09

doctorswife after today i am definitely switching to the seat! M always sleeps really well in the bassinet but today when we were out he woke up and got really upset (i was the mum with the wailing baby in the supermarket ) - i picked him up and carried him and he was fine so i can only assume he was crying because he was frustrated in the bassinet. the seat reclines to flat so hopefully he will like sleeping in that too...

ChocOrange05 · 10/03/2009 21:13

shhh Dozy don't tell everyone my cheapskate fashion secrets - then everyone will be wearing them and I will be found out!! Honestly ladies, its Prada all the way for me, on my £500/month maternity pay!!

LackaDAISYcal · 10/03/2009 21:13

You've convinced me - and DH will kill me if I don't put the computer down so I don't want to miss my chance... give me 2 secs....

ChocOrange05 · 10/03/2009 21:19

Here it is!

MonkeyMargot · 10/03/2009 21:23

Welcome spagBol!! I had you last night! Dozy I challenge you to a ragu contest...I reckon my recipe is perfect now. I make it in huge batches, and freeze portions for 2. It has pork mince, beef mince, chicken livers and pancetta in it. Plus basil, red wine, tomatoes etc. It's deliciously meaty!!

sorry spagbol. As you can see, we talk about ALL SORTS here! Cooking, sha*ging , leaking, weeping etc. It's a good place to be.

Merry you poor sausage... take heart from pinky and think, this all will get better, very very soon!

Autumn Im not throwing anything. If your man J is thriving on eating some solids, good on him.
I must admit, I find weaning advice all v.confusing.
One of my NCT chums was advised by HV to wean v.early (4 months) as baby was so tiny (below 9th percentile). Yet others are advised to wean early if baby is a biggun (like mine - the Giant Plum is 17lb 6ounces at 16 weeks - that's my girl!).
I was starting to wonder whether my 16-week old's worsening sleep pattern was an indication of needing solids. But since reading Heartmums article (thanks!) I see that this is prob. due to developmental stuff going on behind the scenes.

To wean, or not to wean. Is that the question?

AFingerofFudge · 10/03/2009 22:48

Welcome to sami and spag. I'm fairly new to the thread too and I must say it is very friendly and welcoming

Oh goody, a chance to boast about a car boot sale bargain. < smug smile from fudge> We have a tripp trapp highchair with the baby set and it is really fab as you can pull the chair right up to the table so they can feel really included. Anyway, I got it when DS2 was a baby from our local car boot. Someone had used it to display clothes(!). I spotted it and tried to look blase as I said "oh, is that I highchair?" and the guy said "yeah, its £7" (cue drooling and hyperventilating from me) so I said "will you take £5?" and he said "yeah great" .

lacks hope you are not picking up a cold now, and are ok for Thursday. Well done on the pumping.
choco Love the title for next thread, very good thinking!

Hello to everyone else, let's hope we have good nights!

vbab78 · 11/03/2009 07:57

ALYSSA SLEPT THROUGH FOR THE FIRST TIME AFTER CHANGING HER TO THE NEXT STAGE MILK YESTERDAY. Just hope it continues and wasnt because she had her 3rd lot of injections . But they have never made her more sleepy so fingers crossed.

vbab78 · 11/03/2009 07:58

Forgot ... she did 7/7.30pm until 7 and she's 17wk. Sorry I will shut up now. Me and DH were in shock this morning when were quizzing each other if we had got up in the night.

ilovespagbol · 11/03/2009 10:59

thanks for the pointers monkeymargot

thoughts on weaning.....my dd tried to snatch some food from DP's plate the other day. what to do? wanted to try baby led weaning but can you do that at 17 weeks, guessing not as should baby be sitting to do that?.

thoughts on weeping....is it normal on occasion to sit on the sofa, feeding and crying when contemplating how much needs to be done? or am i just a wuss?

vbab78...great sleep, long may it continue!

vbab78 · 11/03/2009 11:45

ilovespagbol - you are not a wuss unless that makes me one aswell. I seem to be for the most part crying, putting on a brave face, laughing for DS & A amusement when depressed really, exhausted or exhuasted and depressed.

DS is currently crying and screaming, has been for at least 2 hours. Tried everything dont know what is wrong with him. All started over me telling him "no" when he wanted a dvd on again. So close to just walking out. Bad mum I know and I hate myself for it and my -ve thoughts and words about him. But i've honestly not done anything to cause it and we were fine then exploided to this. [ready to jump off a cliff emotion]

ilovespagbol · 11/03/2009 13:57

putting on a brave face, exhausted, depressed, yes.....does not make us bad mums, just human. then when rhings are ok, do you think, 'what was that all about' ? someone told me the regnancy hormones take six months to go, don't know if that is true. hope your day getting better. actually got DD to sleep for an hour today, which is amazing as she just wonnt sleep in the day generally and i hve no respite to do basic things, like put a wash on! not sure this thread actually still active as noticed it had been renamed!?
