about DPs mum, Dooby - can't believe they left it so long to tell him!!!

Bloomin' families!!

Absolute priceless classic from DD2 (3.5 yrs) today .....

"I can't go to church dressed as a Pirate. I might kill someone."

(To put in context, oldest 2 decided to do "dressing up" for church today - DD1 was a nurse and DD2 had the 'Pirate dilemma' ... soon solved by leaving the sword at home )

Great that M is back on form, Caz .

Had a mental day here too. Found out that the kids had put crayons in the oven after I'd heated it up........gah! After trying to scrape molten blue crayon off the inside of the oven I decided to do cracker-making. We've been saving up loo rolls and I had visions of festive family fun as the kids and I make lovely hand-crafted crackers, merrily singing along to carols.

Fat chance. I'd stupidly bought little chocolate snowmen to go in the crackers. The kids did not like this idea one bit. I managed to pursuade dd that eating one was enough and the rest could go in crackers but ds was not placated. I put the choccies on a high shelf and had my back turned for 5 seconds and there was an almighty crash as he fell off the stereo which he'd managed somehow to climb up in a desperate bid to reach the bloody snowmen.

I really do try hard with this being a good mummy lark but it just goes tits up. I had to get rescued in Sainsbury's the other day by a lovely staff member who appeared to be on standby for mums in melt-down. One minute I was screeching at the kids as they laid waste to a toiletries aisle the next minute this lady wearing a santa hat materialised and helped me get through the checkout without throttling the little buggers .

Where's the gin???

hello! finally properly back online.. has been a whirl of arriving home/unpacking/washing/catching up with family and throwing ourselves into bed exhausted at the grand hour of 9.30pm and post holiday normality has set in with a thud.

Was so lovely to meet GMM and liath and their lovely tots. They all behaved themselves beautifully and made their mummies proud . N was quite unwell for about 4 of the 7 days, rather explosive runs and no eating of anything but no one else we were staying with caught it so hope it was just something that hadn´t agreed with him. Was very worried he´d have passed it on especially after the very liberal cup sharing between the april boys (that´s green for bleeeeurgh), hope not???

SOL hope Coldplay are great (or is it were?? was that last night?), hope you had some very welcome distraction for a few hours x

potc - sorry you didn´t make it up, and that J is still not well.. that´s a pretty rotten tradition you´ve got going on

Hellooooooooo. Am back from a wicked weekend of partying and concerts!

Caz, so glad M is back to her normal self - must be a reief.

Mav, glad you got home safely and enjoyed your trip to Bonny Scotland. Bad news about the loose bowels though!

Liath, again your posts have had me laughing out loud! I have these ideas too of how things could be, and it always ends in tears/squabbles - and that's just me
Hope ds is ok after his fall!!
I thought is was girls who were chocaholics???

Dooby, how are you? Sorry about your dp's mum. Can't believe no-one told you for 4 days [hm]

Hi Dippy, Oooggs and SPB.

All ok here. Am just coming off the cloud of euphoria that was Coldplay in concert. OH MY GOD IT WaS faB!!! I want to go again!!! We also stayed in a very plush hotel last night, so a wonderful weekend all round. Topped off today by getting home and going shopping, and then my mum phoning me Very happy about that, as usually she is just too exhausted, but she was so keen to see how the concert had been God love her.

Anyway, back to reality now so need to go and wash up! xx

morning >

sorry i'm too tired to post anything much

DD was up coughing last night to the point of being sick twice, meaning I had to change her bed and ours. I'm taking her to the doctor today as she's had conjunctivitis last week, oral thrush(I think) starting sat and now the cough, which has been around for a week or so but got really bad last night, before it was just annoying but it's got worse. I want to check that it's not something worse or related to the oral thrush, or maybe it wasn't thrush IYSWIM. Nightmare.

DS also has mild conjunctivitis, just gunky eyes, no redness unlike poor dd's which were red raw pretty much HIs funny gum thing seems to have burst tooth is poking through now. He also has a runny nose and cough.

I have conjuncitivits too(really mild but still irritating!) and the cough, but mines not too bad. Oh and I have blocked ears so can't hear

We're not doing too well really are we!! Hope it's all gone by this time next week

I know I shouldn't complain when poor Molly has just had a really awful time, i'm so glad she's much better Caz

Sorry to hear you had a crap night Eddas! Hope that tonight is better.

Glad you had a lovely weekend away SOL - I'm sure you really needed it after all you've been through in the last few months.

Well I should be working as I have loads to do, but I am trying to finish my Christmas shopping online . . .

Hi all

Liath, sorry but PMSL at your son trying to reach the chocolate snowmen, obviously it's going to take him time to understand delayed gratification. I can just imagine D doing that, he's getting very into climbing up on things to reach stuff. How's your stereo.

Glad to hear Molly is better, hope other sick LOs make a rapid recovery.

Hi to everyone else, I'm on annual leave today but need to pretend to myself I've done something constructive with it so am about to head out for a little while. (I was off yesterday and did almost nothing).

I have to admit I PMSL @ Liath's post about her visit to the supermarket - only in a purely sympathetic 'I know exactly what you are talking about' sort of way though!!

Yes, where is the gin!!!?

Awwww, sooooo pleased you had such a fabby time SOL - and so lovely of your mum to muster up the strength to call you

Arse to your House of Ill, Eddas - hope Dr can shed some light and help the little buggers delightful little chilren to get better asap!!!

I need to do loads of stuff ..... eeeek .....

Liath's post made me laugh too ! I love the idea that there are 'trouble-shooters' roaming the aisles ready to jump in: "Ethel, there's trouble in aisle 3 - Mum being driven to distraction in the toiletries. Get down there with your Santa hat on!"

Bramshott!!

Hope all these poorly little ones are better for Christmas.

SOL, really glad you had a good weekend, am very of the concert.

The stereo has survived ds's assault. I bought the Ministry of Sound 3 CDs of anthems today so dd decided to score my dancing as per Strictly Come Dancing. Sadly I only scored a 1!! Clearly the Judges were unimpressed .
