Thought it was time for a new thread in honour of first birthdays.

A thread for toodlerdom!!

I spotted the Nov 08 thread the other day; it still seems like yesterday when we were all moaning about cramp, people manhandling our bumps and not being able to get to sleep, not a lot has changed there then!).

LOM - our Principal has made the 22nd a compulsory staff training day with the afternoon being a compulsory staff party! Anyway, I booked my flights to Shetland when still on mat leave so I have been able to plead ignorance and get out of that one. Anyway, no matter what anyone says I am definately winding down . I completely cheated with Adam's cake and bought one from Waitrose (not as posh as it sounds, was a Cadbury's hedgehog). I think I put a pic up. Happy birthday to T for tomorrow!

RG - I am having similar probs with Adam re sleep, have been for a while now. Thought he was settling back down but it started up again last night. Adam doesn't get hysterical but he has stamina and justs keeps going until I get up and feed him. Knocking the night feeds on the head after xmas, I was hoping he was going to grow out of them but he is an addict. Everyone else I know in RL seems to have perfect sleeping through babies!

Greedy - nothing like a bit of forced jollity.
The last Head I worked for was not a people person to put it mildly. She was ranting at all the staff in briefing one morning about how we had to make sure we were organised and planning properly yahdeya when she actually came out with , " We've got investors in people status. Let's like behaving like it shall we." Mmmmmm

Shetland eh. is that wjere your family are from. it's somewhere I've always fancied fancied visiting. I love wild places.

How do they get these jobs?! Gives us something to grumble about I spose.

My parents are from Scotland but not Shetland originally. We lived there briefly when I was little (army posting) then they returned when I left home. Tis rather bleak but utterly gorgeous at the same time. I can't wait to go!

William is also going through separation anxiety at the moment, and sleep is a major issue. I can't shake my cold at all, have pretty much lost my appetite and generally feel rubbish. I need total rest, but as DH won't offer to take any time off so i can get this, it's not going to happen until we go to the ILs for Christmas. DH has his xmas do tonight, so I get to look after the kids all day and night too, great.

Enough self-pity (though I might be back once the kids are in bed for more!)

LOM - Blimey, didn't realise our thread had got so big! Well done LOM, good job.

Jet - sorry that DH wont help give you the rest you need. I hope he's going to buy you a massively big Xmas pressie to make up for it!

Greedy - hope AJ gets over his night time shinanigans soon. You must be exhausted! Hope you enjoy Shetlands.

I think i might have been indulging in Child Cruelty with Ellie. I told DP to put her in her 2.5 tog bag last night and she slept right through and woke up happy and chirpy this morning. I think she'd been getting cold in the night and that's why she'd been waking up. Bad Mummy!! I think it's coz the thermometer in her room said it was 21 degrees at the time we go to bed and i'm so paranoid about her overheating that i've just been keeping her in her 1 tog bag, the poor lamb. she must have been so cold.

RG - William is in a 2.5 tog bag, but gets cold in that, and likes coming under our duvet instead! He's such a wuss! DD is the complete opposite and usually gets rid of her duvet early on in the night, so temperature-wise I just can't get it right. Like many men, DH hasn't even contemplated christmas shopping, which is raising my stress levels and not helping!

LOM - under our old Head we used to get emails saying no videos even on the last day, and SLT would check up on us! Much nicer now though. This term is so long, the kids are flagging by now and can't take much more, never mind the staff!

Greedy - 22nd is a really late break-up, I thought we had it bad finishing next Friday. I too am turning off the night tap. Why is it that RL people have perfect sleeping babies? Or could they be lying!

My friend finally had her baby today, a little girl, nine days late. I can't wait to meet her!
I am feeling slightly happier now as Ben and Jerrys ice cream is half price in Sainsburys at the moment so I bought myself a tub of chunky monkey which I am currently enjoying very much! And as it's got nuts in DH won't like it so it's all mine

We had alovely day - we did our Christmas shopping in the morning. I was very proud , we did it all in two hours.

The grandparents and BIL and hi GF came over over for cake in the afternoon and we all had a meal after T had gone to bed. I felt quite overwhelmed.

RG - glad you've sorted Ellie's sleep. T is in a 2.5 bag, vest, pjs and often a blanket - he still gets cold though.

Jet - congrats to your friend and well done on the ice cream.

Hi and happy birthday to all the Babes I have missed in the last week. I've been so sick again this week cold, flu, vomitting, tooth ache the works. Turns out the tooth ache is from blocked sinuses not actually tooth ach so I'm going to afterhours to see if I can get antibiotics to knock it on the head.
Anabel might have it too as she seemed to have a temp this morning and was off her food at lunch today. Sorry for those of you struggling with lack of sleep lately but Anabel slept from 6.30pm -8.45 this morning. She did stir at about 3 am but went straight back to sleep. I was shock and a little worried but did enjoy it.
I don't know if I over heat her at night or not but she is in vest, PJs, marino gro bag (not sure how many togs?) and blanket folded over 4 times and thin duvet thingy. My mum is a great one for lots of blankets so I have followed her advice.
On DVDs at school we are having a KS1 and KS2 film afternoon each in the hall kids bringing a cushion and healthy snack next week which will be nice. The kids and teachers are all knackered this has been a loooooong term.

Blimey Febes!! That sounds like aLOT of bedding! probably tho only because i'm not used to putting so much on. Maybe i should follow your example!

Currently she has on a vest, PJs and a 2.5 tog bag. That's it. Last night i put her little thin blankie over her when i looked in her before i went to bed. Still not sure if she'll be warm enough

arghh! I am never sure if Adam is warm enough/too hot and now I am obsessing again...!

Its a mine field thats for sure. I know that I'd be too cold just in a sleeping bag at the moment. Anabel tends to creep up the cot if she gets too hot in the the night so I think she's ok. Is the overheating not so bad now that they are older or am I just making that up?? I tend to do that.
Anabel slept until 8.30am on sunday too so I am so lucky at the moment. I have had 3 killer months of crying in the night and standing up though so I feel I deserve this new sleeping regime.
I'm 20 weeks this week and feeling the baby kick lots now which is nice. Can't believe I'll have another one soon.

I forgot to turn the heating off last night. It was the first time in about three weeks that t hasn't woken up in the night. I jave to use the heating as he just kicks off any blankets.

Febes. I think that is great idea re the videos. there's no point in making life difficult for yourself. I've got to try and do an assessment with my year nine tomorrow which will be a nightmare. Not long to now. 38 more working dats before I leave.

I keep forgetting you are having another Lo so soon ! It must be lovely to be feeling kicks again ....>

Are anyone's LOs attempting to talk yet???? I was at my friend's house today and Ellie astounded the pair of us by pointing at a ballon and saying "bayoon!" and then pointing at the Christmas tree and saying "tee!". I looked at my friend and said "did you hear that?!!! " She was as gobsmacked as i was! I think they do start to say the odd word from this age, dont they?

Thats sooooo cute RG! What a genius. Anabel has repeated words but doesn't really say anything off cuff yet. She can say Duck, woof, good girl, thats about it.

Hi all - Just quick hello. I'm up to my ears in exam marking and T has been ill. Why he couldn't have started throwing up before I broke up for Christmas ( break up in sense that I've got 128 exam essays to mark) I don;t know.

Hi all. A friend of mine had a baby girl on Tuesday, unfortunately she is extremely ill, and unlikely to survive the night. I hugged mine extra hard when I picked them up from nursery today. Thank god for your healthy babies tonight, and say a prayer for baby Lexie.

LOM - 128 exam papers! Ridiculous! I break up tomorrow. Hope T feels better soon, vomiting bugs are the pits. Funnily enough Adam hasn't been poorly since going to his new CMs inspite of always coming home FILTHY !

RG - clever Ellie. Adam doesn't really say anything clearly but I am convinced he says "look" and "hello" and he once said "plum" clear as anything and in the right context! He is gorgeous at the mo but v.v.clingy. If I sit on the sofa he is standing at my knees and if I move, he moves.

Sending out thoughts for baby Lexie and her family. How awful.

Greedy - Fortunately it isn't 128 papers. It's 128 essays. I've got 32 kids who have each done 2 papers with two essay ?s per paper- they are a top set too so they've written loads. I was perhaps being a little melodramatic. It's always a mare for this sort of thing at Christmas. Ho hum a minor annoyance in the grander scheme of things.

How's Adam getting on with the new childminder?

Greedy - i'm also convinced that Ellie's saying stuff like "look!". She's only said "tree" a couple of more times since that first time but i'll keep encouraging her to get talking (and signing!).

LOM - hope you get your essays marked up quickly so you can chill out for Xmas!

Baby Lexie is still fighting, and the first results of a brain scan were better than expected,and her mum has been able to hold her for the first time; keep praying for that Christmas miracle.

RG and Febes - you have clever girls! William only really says mama, dada and nah (short for Hannah, my DD) He does do a lot of pointing and saying 'wassat?', but that's it.

Greedy - she was 12 days late, normal delivery. The docs are still trying to work out exactly what the problem is. I know what you mean about the clingyness, William follows me everywhere, and will hold onto my legs while I'm washing up.

LOM - that's a lot of Christmas marking, I hope it doesn't take you too long. It's the worst part of the job, isn't it?
