Hi everyone!

Should we have another thread when all our LOs have turned 2?

Getting a bit nervous and DD and I are going up to London on the train on Tuesday to visit the office. No biggie for me as i am used to commuting but i'm scared about what DD will be like. She is only used to going on the odd train journey with her nanna and grandad. I think i will have to get some stickers, colouring book and crayons or something to keep her entertained. Any other ideas anyone?

Loopy - glad DH is back home again - what a lovely bonus for you!

We're not going to be doing much this year for DD's birthday. DP has (finally!) agreed to come to DD's last Sing and Sign class, which happens to fall on her birthday and then after that we might take DD to the Hop Farm as they have Christmas type stuff going on there at the moment. The next day i think we are going to take DD to the zoo with her nanna and grandad (they cant make her actual birthday).

What do you make of this? I'm not sure whether or not i should be peed off! I took DD to the creche at the gym today. I dont normally take her on a Sunday but she goes there regularly once or twice a week and DP was working so i didn't have much choice. Anyway, when i signed her in, the lad and girl that were on reception are normally there during the week so i knew who they were etc. But when i picked her up, there was this woman in there who i haven't seen before who said to me "Oh we took her necklace off because it's quite close - just while she's playing......" I pointed out to the woman that it was an amber teething necklace and that DD wears it 24/7 so is used to wearing it. I then made sure i put it straight back on her while i was there, in front of the woman. She then went on to tell me how good she is with her speech and how well she knows her colours and shapes etc etc (like i didn't know that!!). But anyway, the more i thought about it, the more peed off i was at her taking her necklace off. AIBU to get the hump about it or am i just being sensitive about it??

littleoldme · 30/11/2009 08:42

Rg - I took t on the trainto manchester last week. i was expecting a nightmare but he was fine. I was armed with colouring, Duplo, biscuits and dancing girls - he was fine and really calm.

I wouldn't worry too much about the necklace although I understand the annoyance. from their point of view, they have to be so careful and if anything had happened as a result of it, not that it wuold but on the off chance it did, it would probably cost them their jobs. It may be a tad over vigilant but at least they are keeping a close on her and making sure she's ok.

Must dash s'posed to be getting dressed.

Blimey, i know i was being unreasonably touchy re the beads and i've just been blazed on the AIBU forum for it! Now that i've slept on it, i know i was being a prat for getting the hump but i've never been good with confrontation, even of the friendly sort as this makes me embarrassed and flustered lol.

littleoldme · 30/11/2009 13:15

RG - I hope you didn't think I was having a go. Never post anything on AIBU !!!!

On the plus side - you insipred me to check out the creche at our local sports centre. It's lovely and only 1.60 for the hour ! I shall be be going to the gym.
BTW is anyone else comletely addicted to Bejewlled on Facebook ?

LOM - Noooooo!! Not at all!! Good luck with the gym!! No addiction to bejewelled, but loads of addiction to Farmville and a slight addiction to Cafeworld and Fishville too [dull fecker emoticon]

Loopy - hope you all get better soon!!

Well today's trip was a slight nightmare lol. I decided that it would be easiest if i took DD to London in the mei tai and left the buggy at home. Bit of a mistake really seeing as DD is pretty much on babywearing strike but absolutely loves her buggy!! Dont get me wrong, she was fab whilst sitting on the train to and from London (about 45 mins) but on the tubes she didn't like the fact that she couldn't get down off my back and sit on a chair and hated it even more if i tried to hold her hand when we walked to our lunch venue today. She totally loved one of my work mates and just HAD to hold her hand on the way! I did get a bit flustered today and with the exception of negotiating the tube, i do wonder if it would have been easier to chuck her in the buggy. Sad day for me when i realise that a buggy is easier than a back carry ((((

RGPargy · 01/12/2009 23:27

Sorry, that's meant to be lol

jetgirl · 02/12/2009 19:07

RG - I think I would have been the same as you - I would have been annoyed that they had removed it, grumbled to DH about it then after a day probably calmed down and seen it from their point of view. I visit AIBU but avoid posting, and wouldn't ask a questions, it's scary!!
The tube is one of the reasons I have not taken the kids to London properly, I just can't face negotiating the tube with a buggy!

Loopy - I expect a pic of the dancing ballerinas cake, sounds very impressive!

DD does have this little wrist strap thing that we have used once with her but she absolutely loved it! One thing tho - i am NEVER going to London with DD again until she is a teenager and actually WANTS to go!

Had my first mince pie today!! And so begins Christmas.......

littleoldme · 04/12/2009 13:04

What a rubbish day. At 8am tried to get Doc's appt for William who has conjunctivitis, but was told there were none and to try the emergency clinic at 3pm. Changed his nappy at 11 and discovered his penis had swollen up and had pus coming out of it so we drove to the walk-in clinic (3 miles away) where we saw a lovely nurse who gave us eye drops for the conjunctivitis but couldn't take a swab of discharge as it wasn't in their remit so phoned our gp for an emergencyt appt!! They told her the same thing and we had to go to the 3pm clinic. At 4.45 we finally saw a doctor who couldn't take a swab as the specimens had already been sent off for the weekend. He prescribed antibiotics anyway and i rushed to the chemist to get them, only to be told they had run out. So I burst into tears Anyway, they phoned another pharmacy who held a bottle for us which DH went to collect while he got some fish and chips for tea as we both decided cooking was not something we could be bothered with!

I am now looking forward to a very large glass of wine once the kids have gone to bed.

Jet - awww poor William, hope he feels better very soon!

Loopy - YANBU! My very own mother sent me a text on saturday to wish DD a happy birthday and said "hope she got my card" (she lives in spain). this normallly translates to mean "i have only just remembered to send a card and have put it in the post today so it'll get to you in at least a week". She does the same thing every year with DS's birthday. She could at least get herself more organised and post it a week BEFORE his birthday!!

Had DD's birthday party today. It was very nice with all my friend's DCs behaving very well! I just did a buffet for them but didn't bother with another birthday cake as DD had had one on Saturday and as she doesn't actually like cake, i thought it a bit pointless to get her another one that she can give to mummy to eat waste.

littleoldme · 11/12/2009 08:02

Jet - hope william is better soon. Sounds horrid poor lamb.

Loopy - I'd love to see pics of the cakes. they sound fab.
Re the money - I think it depends on the culture in the family. It wouldn't bother me too much as I have fond memories of fivers fluttering out of many a birthday card. That said, a cheque is just a bit lazy bones.

We're off the DH's parents static for T's birthday so he can wrap up and play on the beach. He's accumulating quite a pike of pressies - I think another toy box might be on the way.

RG - That's naughty of your Mum. Sounds like she's gone native and adopted a manyaner (sp) approach.

Happy Birthday to all the Dcs XX

Hope no one minds but I'm going to start a new thread. I did it this time last year and it seems like a tradition already.

10 points for anyone who can spot the theme.

Right off I go
