tyaca · 28/04/2008 12:25

that's what i think too bean. BUT a-far-too-big-chunk of any profits will be paying off my gambling debts ... so i dont really have much of a say.

bean - i meant to ask you earlier. what do you do re slings and rain? just take a brolly? got to stop not going for walks cause it looks cloudy. am tempted to get baby bjorn just cause you can buy a cover for it.... but that would be my fifth sling

gingermumi · 28/04/2008 12:44

Really feel for you tyaca, perhaps the move is the fresh start you need?

Leesmum - we have got dd1 a camera, wish i could have given it to her early but i didn't want to give the game away - the day out was a surprise. DD2 is going to get her some underwear i think. It's dd2's b-day next wednesday, she'll be 17 (OMG, OMG!), she's having some diving lessons. Very bad planning to have b-days so close together and ds's is 4 days before mine!

Still not dressed, decided to do housework before doing so, have to leave in 15mins so had better go!

gingermumi · 28/04/2008 12:44

Hope you have a better day today rozzy

beansprout · 28/04/2008 12:51

Tyaca - yes, just take a brolly - sorted! Unless the weather is atrocious, e.g. horizontal rain, ds2 is fine, and so am I!!

leesmum · 28/04/2008 12:52

Hey ginger all the best people are Capricorns mine is 16th and Ds2 is 19th of Jan!

rozzyraspberry · 28/04/2008 12:57

Well done Leesmum and Beany - fab weight losses!

DS3 (whispers..) seems to now be sucking his thumb rather than chewing his whole hand. I managed to put him into his buggy awake and he sucked his thumb and fell asleep OMG I'm not carrying him around. I've been saying for weeks I thought it would get easier if he started to suck his thumb and fingers crossed!!! Off to play with the other 2 whilst I have the chance!!

Tyaca - might be worth having an agent round to ask how much your flat is worth now and how much it would be worth if you did all the work. At least then you would know if it was worth doing it. We recarpeted and repainted our old house to make it easier to sell. But then ended up doing part exchange with the builder who built our new house and didn't get any more money than we would have done if we hadn't done it. Was very annoying!!

Can't believe your 2 girls are almost 17 and 20 ginger!! At least you can enjoy their birthdays now that you've been reassured about the lo.

alkar · 28/04/2008 13:02

Have possibly lost 1lb this week but I can't really tell on my scales so I am not going to change my weight this week.

Off to check out a nursery later, they only have one place left in December so I had better get a move on. Then I am going to mothercare to buy DS a new sleeping bag as his feet are very nearly at the bottom of the ones he has now, they're all 0-6 months!

leesmum · 28/04/2008 13:17

p.s. Egg i'm really sorry, i've just been reading back and i got excited for you cos i thought you had reached your target weight

morningglory · 28/04/2008 13:19

Egg: your poor son! Maybe had a small fairy cake ready and say that they gave them to the mummies to give to the children at home?

Beany: hope you get some rest today, and that it is just a growth spurt (seriously though, doesn't it seem as if the entire first year is one gigantic growth spurt?)

missnatalie: hang in there! I agree with all that counselling sound like a good ideal. The weight will come off with feeling better about things, so don't worry about it now.

rozzy: sorry everyone is ill. Not only do you have yourself to worry about, but also 3 (god, how are you able to do it?) to look after. Hope they feel better soon.

Tyaca: good luck on the move. Is it a co-ed or single sex boarding school you are moving to? Just wondering if you'll have a bunch of spotty boys fancying you.

Too late to weigh myself today. I'll do it tomorrow and report back.

Have a great day everyone, and thanks for all your sympathy.

morningglory · 28/04/2008 13:21

rozzy: I can't wait until DS2 finds his thumb! He is also doing the sucking of the entire hand thing. He refuses to take a dummy, and I'm getting a bit tired of being the human dummy!

missnatalie · 28/04/2008 13:30

Afternoon all,

KezzaG - its o nice to hear from you. I was thinking about you last week and wondering how your little one is doing. You and everyone else is right about the counselling, i do need to give it a go. It cant do any harm.

Got to take Henley to the docs today. Since birth he's had what i thought was a mouth ulcer just on the inside of his lower lip, but my mum noticed at the weekend that its got a lot bigger. So taking him just to get it checked out.

Starting my healthy eating plan / diet today. Ive got to take control of my weight!! I asked my sis (who is very blunt, straight to the point and brutally honest) if she thought i was fat. She replied "for god sake you've just had a baby, of course your fat" She then said "you've got nice boobs, tummy and arms but your arse and thighs arnt half taking over!!" . Im glad she said it though and i love her for it. So from today im cutting out all the crap. 3 square meals a day, as my mum says. For breakie ive had 2 x boiled eggs with soilders (yum), lunch im having veggie soup. Dont know what to do for tea yet.

Cant wait for the weekend. Were going on our first family holiday, just the 3 of us. We've booked a 3 night holiday to Devon. I cant wait!!

Anyway got to dash and get Henley ready. Were both still in our PJs . I'll be back on after his docs appt.

leesmum · 28/04/2008 13:40

missnatalie its lovely to hear from you, hope it goes ok at the doctors, let us know how you get on. xxx

And Devon sounds great i'm v.jealous it sounds like just what you need.

Btw where in Gtr/Manc were you from, i live in New Moston.

missnatalie · 28/04/2008 14:10

Ive added more pics of Henley. He's changed loads.

leesmum - like the name. Am tempted to change mine to henleysmum. Im from Ashton-Under-Lyne. Not far from Oldham. Was up there at the weekend. Its a bit of a dump to outsiders but its home to me.

rozzyraspberry · 28/04/2008 14:21

Morninglory - my lo wouldn't take a dummy either - not as nice as mummies boobs apparently - but his thumb seems to be tasty!! He's still sleeping in his buggy so I've read stories, played dominoes and played with the magnets with the other 2. We now have an impressive display of magnetic 'sculpures' to show off to daddy!

Glad your sounding more upbeat missnatalie - good luck at the docs.

omy · 28/04/2008 15:03

Hi all! A looong time since I was here but I haven't forgotten you all! I have read the last few pages but my head is now swimming with all the news and I probably have it all mixed up.

I am sooo impressed with those who are losing weight - I am hungry all the time still so I am not going to try yet. I have joined the gym though and have to go at least twice a week to keep the premiums down so here's hoping we will start going in the right direction! I was weighed at the gym last week and was shocked to find that I am 11 stone - i had imagined all this time that I was about 10 stone - reverse body dismorphia! (or putting your head in the sand/trough!).

We had a brill holiday in Spain, the sun was lovely though it was rather windy.

Thoughts of 'going back to work' seem to be on people's minds at the moment - they are certainly on mine. I blithely planned to go back in July so as to get paid for August (teacher) and my job is already 3 days a week in theory - but it has always taken me 5 days to do it - marking/planning etc- and completely consumed me before. So i am worried about going back especially as I just found out the cost of childcare!

I could wait till January - very tempting - but DH thinks I should go back as planned and he will look after LO if he is free (self employed) and if he is busy he will work on the weekends instead....hmmmm.

I am dreading the separation and the end of BF - as I don't think I could keep up the BF and work. I BF my other DDs for 1 year and it seems the right length of time to me

Egg · 28/04/2008 15:21

Just to let you know, those of you who felt sorry for poor DS1 who wasn't getting cake today, he has pulled a sickie... ON MY DAY OFF - MY CHILD FREE DAY .

He didn't eat any party food, no crisps, no biscuits, none of his fave things. He had a bit of a temp and was clingy and quiet so they called me to collect him (I was in a shop changing room enjoying my longed for free time). So he is now home. It's the first time they have called me to get him since he started there.

Since being home he has eaten a biscuit and had some milk. He has watched an episode of Balamory. He has ridden his tricycle, one of his cars and his scooter. He is currently bouncing on the sofa. He is laughing and singing.

Grrrr.

Jaysfinished · 28/04/2008 15:55

Is he a liar!!!!!

Gill79 · 28/04/2008 17:00

FFS. Back up to where I started.

Egg - he's just happier with his mum Bless him....

Enjoy your weekend Miss Natalie - hope the sun shines.

Your move sounds so exciting Tyaca. Maybe it's worth getting a valuation for a ball-park figure now - the estate agents might be able to advice how much value you're going to add.

missnatalie- your new pics are gorge-!!! he is a real cutie,

Have a fab weekend away- wish i had one booked!!!

How did you get on at the docs?

Had a busy day here- sorting out 3-6months clothes- i was given loads when i was preg, a friend bought some round a few weeks back and Rosie had loads for her christening- i think she has more 3-6 months clothes than Harry, Mike and I have in our wardrobes put together!!!! there is no way she will get to wear it all!!!!!

sarahmikeharryandrosie · 28/04/2008 18:51

oh BTW are we going to do a midlands meet up???

Egg · 29/04/2008 08:26

Natalie Henley is soooo cute. He looks so much like his daddy bless him (but cuter of course...). You are a bit of a stunner yourself .

Sarah DS2 has way too many 3-6 month clothes too, mainly hand me downs from DS1 as I bought so many . We wasted loads of 0-3 month ones as he is too big for them and I never got them out in time.

I checked the weight charts in back of red book yesterday and if DD is 10lbs (obviously not v accurate with just me standing on scales with her) she is below the 2nd centile even with her adjusted age . She seems perfectly healthy tho.

DS1 was up a bit in the night and felt v hot. He seems ok this morning, but still not hungry .

beansprout · 29/04/2008 10:11

Egg - are you concerned about dd? If so, is there a baby clinic you can reasonably go to? Not easy with 3, I know. Sorry to hear ds1 is still off his food. My ds1 had the same last week although he turned out to have slapped cheek (just to follow on from my migraine and ds2's reaction to the medication, followed by his jabs.... etc etc). Hope he perks up soon.

MissNatalie - Henley is gorgeous!!

Omy - lovely to hear from you.

Am feeling a bit down today. Too little sleep + no brain food + a rainy day = fed up mummy. Am going to take myself out in a bit, so I don't go mad looking at these 4 walls but am having a low few days.

leesmum · 29/04/2008 10:36

Egg i wouldn't worry too much about your DD's weight i'm sure she's fine, Ds1 has always been on the 9th centile, he's not v.tall and quie slim but he's as strong an ox!!How is your Ds1 has he had anything to eat yet, i hope he's ok. x

missnatalie (henleysmum sounds great) i was going to change my name to leeandjamesmum but its a bit of a mouthfull! Ashton isn't a dump its ok well the pubs and bars are anyway, mind you it has been ages since i've been out pubbing it!! we were over at the new IKEA last week and spent loads.

Glad you had a lovely holiday omy i'm very jealous,i dont think we'll be getting abroad this year but we are going down to Uxbridge for a week in july to see my older sis and her hubby, so we are looking forward to that.

morningglory · 29/04/2008 10:37

beany: sorry you are feeling low. Doesn't help that we are having crap weather. Good idea to get some fresh air and a short change of scenery.

Egg; I'd have her properly weighed, as onces make a huge difference at this age. Also, I woun't be too concerned at this stage about centiles...many small babies rapidly catch up during this year, and a slow gain is much better on their long term health than a quick gain.

Been busy this morning. The mum of one of DS1's friends texted me last night to see if I would host a playdate with her son today. Strange, I know, but she is a single mum, and I'm happy to help her out. Problem is I had no ready made food, so I've been bust making meatballs, fresh tomato sauce garlic butter, and pizza dough for their lunch. Now just have to sort out a pudding.

leesmum · 29/04/2008 10:38

Beany don't feel too down, i find that going for a good walk, even if its raining clears my head a bit and makes everything seem better xxxx
