Hi Ladies, havnt been on much as im at my mums house and i have to fight my younger brother to get on the PC.
Been feeling VERY low over the last week. I think i need to give in and take the counselling thats been offered. I know whats bothering me the most. Its Henleys birth and all the things i never got to do but family members did. DP mum is also driving me insane. She turns up at my door unanounced and its really pissing me off. When shes there she over takes and i cant even hold Henley. She told me the other day that she feels all maternal when she holds him, like his mum. For god sake he's MINE. If she wants to be all maternal and mummy like, she should have another baby of her own!!!
Im trying desperatly to loose weight but its just not happening. I put on about 5 and a half stone whilst pregnant and thought that it would just fall off. How wrong was i?? Im roughly 14.5 stone now and want to get to 11 (anything below that, i look ill) but im finding it impossible.
Henley is also a little off too. Well i say Henley but its not him, its his poo. He's only doing one a day now and most of the time its very green followed by the yellow stuff. It almost looks like spinich. Is this normal? HV said that he may have a little colic but he has no other symptoms. What do you think? Should i take him to see the GP.

Off to bed now nite, nite x

sallyforth · 27/04/2008 04:27

hi missnatalie, I think baby poo can be green either normally or sometimes if they have a bit of gastroenteritis/ if you feel he is poorly or not right in himself I would def take him to gp.

sorry to hear you are feeling so low. re MIL look at it on the positive side, it shows what a strong bond you have with Henley. When my MIL held my ds and he started rooting on her I felt like I was going to explode with anger any moment (luckily didnt) - thats when I knew I had bonded with ds. You MUST tell her how you feel!!!!! She must surely understand that her own relationship with H will suffer if he picks up on your feelings about her behaviour.

sarahmikeharryandrosie · 27/04/2008 08:29

Miss natalie- sorry to hear your feeling down, Cant really offer much advise but wanted to to let you know i am thinking about you, I hope the councelling will help you,

Re mil- i think they try to help but really it creates the opposite effect- I would be mortified if my mil behaved like yours has- perhaps you need to tell her, i know its hard though=

My MIL is a PITA most of the time not very good with the children- when she holds dd she does not look comfy with it-and if she cries mil gpes into panic mode!!! they have only visited a few times and although it annoys me as the are missing so many of the first weeks its their choice and it saves me from having to bite my tongue and grin and bear it!!!lol DH and i have argued so much in the past about it now i just tell him if somethings bothering me and he just says- nothing will change!!!!

leesmum · 27/04/2008 09:14

Hi missnatalie you sound thoroughly peed-off, is your MIL really that bad? how horrible for you

The counselling sounds like a good idea, it couldn't hurt to go once and just see how it goes, look after yourself xx

Good morning sally and sarah are you two doing anything nice today? its really warm here but has just started raining yesterday was a lovely day, it was great to be out all day with Dc in the warm air.

Well i'm keeping my fingers crossed for this weeks weigh-in i've not done great for the last 2 weeks and i have been extra good this week despite making yummy choc flapjacks yesterday and i didn't have 1!!! well not yet anyway

sallyforth · 27/04/2008 09:41

hi leesmum its raining here too and the forecast is terrible!
my sister is here this weekend I don't see her that much so we have spent the time catching up, drinking coffee and eating too many chocolate biscuits we havent decided what we are doing today yet but it will probably involve more chocolate biscuits!!

gingermumi · 27/04/2008 12:23

Hey ladies, thanks to all for your kind thoughts.

Princess - thoroughly agree on formula feed, we have introduced top ups too.

Tyaca, that sounds really exciting! I have to go back to work and am dreading it, i have to give 8 weeks notice of my intention to return so have just done it. A bit canny really, cos i only go back for 2 weeks and then it's the summer holidays - that way i get paid in full over the summer and can hopefully reduce my hours in September. I really don't want to go back but finances say i must. I think you're situation sounds just the right thing to do.

Gill- used to climb a but too- where abouts did dh go? Keep meaning to go again, was very impressed with your pix of you climbing pregnant!

Missnatalie - it's really hard being a new mum and henley knows you above anyone else, never forget that. Get any help thats offered and pick out what's right for you from there. If you have a reasonable relationship with your MIL perhaps you could talk to her, she may not realise she's upsetting you. (mind you, she could just be a controlling, insensitive cow, a bit like one i know!). It's ok to be angry, its natural to be protective of your baby, it's how the species survives! MN is always here when you need to vent! take care hun.

Gill79 · 27/04/2008 12:57

Hi Miss Natalie - nice to see you're still about. Definitely give the counselling a go - bad luck for having a difficult MIL. Everyone says the weight will drop off - you've just got to keep the faith! You don't really need the stress of weight loss at the moment so don't let it add to your difficulties. Infrequent poo is very common - Malcolm's now on day 6 let's hope that Daddy gets to deal with it when it eventually arrives! Also it does go funny colours sometimes.

Ginger - he was sports climbing in Portland - we used to go ALL the time in the summers and I miss our long sunny weekends of climbing, cafes, swimming off rocks and watching the sun set over the sea with pint in hand. Got into the spirit of things by getting sunburnt in the garden yesterday though.... Where did you use to climb? Can't believe you're back to work in 8 weeks but guess it's a good way to do it.

sarahmikeharryandrosie · 27/04/2008 17:08

Just got abck froma 3rd bday party- and DC's are fast asleep!!!! DH watching footie so thougth i would catch up-

How is everyone??

morningglory · 27/04/2008 21:49

Hello everyone! haven't been on for several days as DSs have been doing my head in.

DS2 is the king of volcanic poos, as gill and beanspout witnessed (yup, Sebastian went home sans trousers and shirt due to a pooh which went up to his neck, and down his thighs!). I have to change him completely 4 times a day due to massive poos or extreme posseting! It's actually amazing that he's putting on any weight!

I should kick myself for telling people that he was doing really well and relatively easy to take care of. This week, he's not been settling for his daily naps, making him have uncontrollable screaming for 2-3 hours in the afternoon. Not sure what to do, or why he's doing this. He seems to be really sensitive to sound only at particular times (maybe times with certain times in his sleep cycle?). A loud older brother AND building work next door and across the street are probably responsible. I'm going to resort to putting him in the car and driving around for the 3 hours he is supposed to nap to ensure he sleeps!

DS1 had gotten better with his defiance and violent outbursts, but he has developed selective hearing, and chooses to ignore me when I ask him to come to the table to eat/get off the computer/go to bed, etc. GRRRR!

As a result, I'm a zombie by the time that both are in bed, and I have a one and a half hour window to relax before feeding again!

All those going back to work, I'm fantasizing about going to work to escape this madness!

I'd like to join the London meet-up, and will check out the thread.

Sorry to have such a moany post, but I seriously am feeling overwhelmed!

KezzaG · 27/04/2008 22:25

Hi Ladies, I left a message just saying hi to MissNatalie but you lot are so chatty it has been left far far behind and she will never see it Whe nshe comes back on can one of you just let her know I was saying hi and ask her to look back.

MissN, just seen your latest update. Counselling sounds like a goid idea, it sounds like you need some closure on your birth experience and you may as well take the help being offered. I can sympathise with the MIL but my problem is with SIL...says things like "my boys" about my dc's...err whose boys?????

Will stop crashing the thread now...thanks all.

sallyforth · 28/04/2008 03:19

hi ladies..... anyone else up at this stupid hour or is it just me?

Egg · 28/04/2008 07:13

Hi girls.

Sally I was awake shortly afterwards (at 3:40) as DD seems to wake blooming earlier now than she used to. I swear we are making no progress at all. I got her down to 5 feeds a day and now she is back on 6 .

Morningglory you must be shattered. At least when I go to bed exhausted I know I hopefully wont have to get up for about 5 or 6 hours as DH does the 10pm feed. As for the poos, well DS1 used to have those poos, but only because he went every 3 days. When it started I would have to run with him to the changing mat / baby change if we were out and get the nappy off, slide a new one under to catch the next batch as it continued to come out. We would often go through 4 nappies in one change while I swapped them over mid-poo or it would just be out of the sides. If I was not quick enough it was down the legs etc. However at least that was not more than once every few days...

I have missed quite a lot this weekend so will try to catch up later. Off to do my Monday morning weigh in. I have had some serious over-eating probs lately and really need to start knuckling down. Want to get on scales before i drink my tea so that I don't have the extra few oz of tea .

I got on the scales yesterday with the DTs to see approximately what they weighed (did it before a feed and without clothes and napppies). DS2 is about 14lbs and DD is about 10lbs I think.

beansprout · 28/04/2008 08:50

Morning!

Morningglory - that sounds exhausting, you poor thing. It's bad enough when one isn't sleeping/behaving but when it's both at once, it's just hideous. Ds1 has been ill over the weekend and ds2 won't nap in his cot so I share your pain.

MissNatalie - hope you are ok. Could your dp have a word with your MIL? It sounds like she is undermining you which is not going to help things at all. Your well being is so, so important and she is just making you feel worse. I hope the counselling helps too. Big hug to you.

Tyaca - your move sounds fab. Hope it all works out for you all.

Well, ds2 woke up every 90 minutes last night and I am shattered. This has to be a growth spurt, right? Either that, or he has turned into evil baby...

Good news is that I have managed to lose a bit more weight. Hurrah!!

Missnatalie - the others are talking sense, your MIL does need to be told, albeit possibly gently, that her attitude is not helping. I would have probably throttled my MIL if she had said that to me ever. I did once infact dream of throttling her . Hope things get better for you soon.

Tyaca the move does indeed sound perfect. Just what you need right now. When I started reading your post I was momentarily worried when you said things had hit an all-time low but no..... you are back with your humourous posts that make me smile. DH hates it when I give him poo updates but he does get them all the time!

Talking of which, DS1 had a poo in the bath for the first time yesterday . 26 months old, never even pooed in the bath as a tiny baby, and now he does. Bless him, we were actually cheering as it was one he had been holding onto for a couple of days and he was getting a bit upset so we told him to just let it out. He was singing about 5 seconds later he was so happy to get it out! Then when we got him out of the bath he weed on the bathmat in excitement!

This morning DS1 made me smile as when I first heard him awake he was singing happy birthday. I went in and said "who's birthday is it" and he said "mine" and said that he would get cake and cards today. His bday is in February....

beansprout · 28/04/2008 09:54

Egg- ds1 (October birthday) is obsessed with his birthday atm too. Keeps moaning that it is "taking too long" and telling me about all the things he is going to get.

Egg · 28/04/2008 09:56

What's even worse is that I told him that there was a party at nursery today (the story lady is retiring and they are having a bit of a party at lunchtime) and so I said he would probably get cake. But apparently they wont. So he will cry .

beansprout · 28/04/2008 10:27

Aw, poor ds1.

Maybe tell him that story lady ate it all so he won't be sorry to see her go?

gingermumi · 28/04/2008 10:37

LOL at poo story egg. Am also back at starting weight, have managed to put back on the 2lb i lost Have booked induction at gym with dd2 on saturday, hopefully it will do me some good, gives us some 'quality time' and help with her body confidence issues, either that or kill me!

Gill we have a climbing wall near by (which we used to go to every week) and we climbed out doors in north devon, dh loves surfing so we used to do both (I don't surf on the grounds that surf oards hurt when they hit you so i do a bit of body boarding).

Hope today is better MG

Am thinking of booking a little dippers swimming course for ds, anyone been to these? - look really good, a bit pricey compared to local pool but seems much better than the courses i took dds to.

Am off shopping with dd2 later (when she finishes college at lunch time) to get pres for dd1, it's her birthday on wednesday, she's going to be 20! OMG!!!!!!! Her boyfriend has taken her to Edinburgh for day today as b-day treat(first time she has flown - I am plane phobic so she's never been before). Had better get dressed as nursing bra and dressing gown combo is not favoured in shopping centre. Hope everyone has a good day.

gingermumi · 28/04/2008 10:38

lol beeny

rozzyraspberry · 28/04/2008 10:46

Hi everyone.

Well I've not lost any weight but not put any on either. So I'm quite pleased cause I thought I'd probably put some of the 4lbs I lost last week back on when I started to feel better.

Morninglory I know how you feel. I haven't been able to put ds3 down for naps since he was about 3 days old. If you put him down awake he screams (tried leaving him but this continued for an hour and if you put him down sleeping he wakes within 5 mins and screams. So its on my knee or in buggy or car seat if out. Its really beginning to wear me down a little and I had an emotional melt down with dh when he got in from work yesterday morning. Told him I wasn't coping at the mo and the house was a tip. Then went out with dc to get bread and when I got back dh was dutifully cleaning and tidying. So house looks much better now. Really sad I know but I do feel so much more in control now that the house no longer looks like a bomb site!

Unfortuneately after me feeling awful last week I seem to have passed it onto dc. DS1 and ds2 were up throwing up on Thurs night. DS2 recovered pretty quickly but ds1 is still feeling poorly and now has diarhoea. DS3 wasn't himself yesterday either - was crying as if in pain and I struggled to settle him last night. He then got up at 9.30 for his last feed rather than 10.30 so I thought I was in for a terrible night but he was up twice as usual so not too bad. Like you egg just wish we were making some progress but I'm not going to complain because last time I did I was up 4 times the next night!

DS1 has a scalextric brochure which he looks at every day picking his birthday present - his birthday is December!!

tyaca · 28/04/2008 10:55

sorry, but lol at the non-existent cake. your poor ds.

morningglory, i was actually a bit disappointed that it wasn't you who went home semi-naked. lo here does the odd monster - it's the velocity rather than the poo itself, isnt it? there;s real force involved.

while we're talking poo, i swear i feel like a medicine woman who can help them out. i've been going to the baby massage classes run by our (v fab) Sure Start team. they showed us lots of techinques for wind, digestion and all thing tummy related. such fun as can often get her bum hooting like a trombone as the air comes out and just now - for second time - she pooed just as i finished this half moon stroke. insanely rewarding.

hiya missnatalie - i second what everyone else said re counselling. def worth a shot. ditto gill's v wise words about not sweating the weight at the moment - just one more silly pressure. and i know what you mean re your MIL - i feel hugley protective of what i perceive to be lo's personal space. my sister (otherwise fab fab person) strokes her hair and touches her all the time when someone else is holding her and i find it v difficult. (oh goodness, maybe i'm a touch pfb?)

right - i have a HUGE list of things to do. am i being nuts to be annoyed that dh wants us to get estate agents round to value our flat before we finish doing stuff on it? our ancient bathroom is being replaced end of may, recarpeting, cosmetic touch up of kitchen etc etc.... he wants some valuations where we tell them what we're going to do. surely we just get them round at the start of june when the stuff's done?? grrrrrr

have a good day all

leesmum · 28/04/2008 11:12

Beany well done on the weight loss! you are nearly there Ds1 is also obsessing about his birthday, every time an advert for a toy comes on he says "i'm having that for my birthday" it's a long way off yet!
And we were up a lot feeding in the night last week, i was shattered but everything seems to be back to normal now

Egg you have reached your target weight, are you treating yourself to anything? (chocolate perhaps) the twins are doing well with their weights, are they in nursery today? Ds1 didn't ever poo in the bath, but i bet you were'nt bothered as long as he went, it can't be nice for him hanging onto poo's for so long, hopefully he'll get better as he gets older. Talking of poo's Ds1 had a massive one this morning before he went to nursery he looked into the toilet and said "wow mum look at my sausage poo, mmm i like sausages"

Well i have lost 2lbs, i should think so...i have been soooo good as well

Hi ginger, rozzy and Tyaca it took so long to do my post i missed you lot.

Ginger what a lovely birthday treat for your daughter, i hope she has a lovely day, have you got any idea what you'll buy her for her birthday? Ds1 is only just having swimming lessons now at nursey and he loves it, there are no nearby pools for me to take Ds2 so i'll probably wait till he's a bit older.

Rozzy don't worry about the weight loss, i'm sure it will come off running around after 3 lads! I also have loads to do today but i'm on here instead and its raining again, apparently this weekend is going to be lovely (fingers crossed)

Tyaca your move sounds very exciting, how is Esther doing? it's only natural to be very protective of your children, i get very defensive if anyone says anything even slightly negative about Ds1, even though he can be a bit of a bugger sometimes

Take care all xxx

beansprout · 28/04/2008 11:41

Tyaca - I would definitely wait until things are done. Whats more, prices are a bit in flux atm, so waiting until you are ready to sell will give you a more realistic price.

tyaca · 28/04/2008 12:25

that's what i think too bean. BUT a-far-too-big-chunk of any profits will be paying off my gambling debts ... so i dont really have much of a day.

bean - i meant to ask you earlier. what do you do re slings and rain? just take a brolly? got to stop not going for walks cause it looks cloudy. am tempted to get baby bjorn just cause you can buy a cover for it.... but that would be my fifth sling
