Sorry I haven't been about. Have been laid up with a hideous migraine - temperature, vomiting, the works. Finally have some decent drugs and am feeling a bit better now. B/feeding through it was a bit grim though, to say the least!! Have, thanks also to a helping hand, managed to lose 4lbs but will put it back on once I start eating again though....

beansprout · 21/04/2008 17:01

Oh and is anyone on for the meet up tomorrow?

morningglory · 21/04/2008 20:40

Hello all! DH and I were out until 2am on Saturday, so I was/am completely zonked out. Evening was nice, except that I felt like my boobs were going to explode by midnight. The first thing I did when I got home was express (managed to get out 9 oz!!!). I didn't get to bed until 3am, and DS2 was up at 4.

Gosh Tyaca...8 hours of sleep! I really should think of dropping the early am feed. DS2 gets a dream feed at 10:30, then sleeps until 4. At this feed, he snacks for about 7 minues, then falls asleep. Maybe he doesn't really need this feed?

Sorry to hear that some of you are going through PND, and others are poorly. The best thing for those with PND is that they have been diagnosed, and have started treatment.

On the weight front, I've actually GAINED a pound (must have been all the last minute stuffing of my face before this week and dieting/excercise started!). I did have my personal training session, which was very gentle (can't do any weight bearing excercise still due to ankle), and focused on my core muscles.

I'm still up tomorrow, but I'll have to join you after 1pm (DS is having a playdate tomorrow, and I don't trust the nanny/housekeeper to transport 2 4 year olds from school). Where are we meeting?

Hello all, just popped in for the Monday weigh in.

Well done Rozzy and Beany for your weight loss! and I'm sure you will have a weight loss this coming week Morningglory!
I have stayed the same this week - but to be honest have been really bad and eaten loads of chocolate again this week - so it's a miracle really that I haven't gained some!!

Sorry can't make the meet up tomorrow - it's bit too far for me at the mo! normally wouldn't be an issue for me as am used to driving LOADS for my job - but have only driven 11 miles in the last 8 weeks - so feel a bit wierd about longer journeys!! my C-section scar has been a bit uncomfy lately, I'm not sure if it is my clothes rubbing against it, or just part of the healing process making it itch.

GOT to buy some new nursing bra's - The few I have are from M&S and Mothercare but they are a bit on the small side, and my boobs seem to be spilling out the top of them! Any one got any advice on where is best to get nursing bra's? I'm assuming M&S, but am wondering if there is anywhere else better?

Get well soon all poorly people! sending you strong & healthy vibes!!

MorningGlory - 9OZ!!! bliomey thats good going!! the best I've ever managed in one go was just over 4 oz! respect to you!

Tyaca - well done for the 8 hours sleep!! My DD Seren is still waking every 3 or 4 hours through the night to feed, although we did have one occasion when she accidently stayed asleep for a 5.5 hour stretch! it was a one off though - she has never gone that long since and through the day, mornings she will feed every 2 to 3 hours and afternoons she will feed every 1.5 to 2 hours. Thinking about it - that might be why I haven't gained weight this week - perhaps all the breastfeeding is balancing out the overloading on chocolate!! LOL.

bovrilsarnies · 21/04/2008 21:58

Rozzy and Beany - just thinking about the 4lb weight you have each lost this week - and just realised - thats like 8 packets of butter each!!

Nice to hear from you lovemymum - sorry you hve had PND. Will try and catch up more with you and everyone else later...

beansprout · 22/04/2008 10:30

Phew. Well, following the hideous migraine of the weekend, ds2 has then had a reaction to the medication that I was told was perfectly safe. He has not kept a feed down since yesterday evening. Rang the doctors to be told that the advice from the manufacturers is to not feed for 24 hours after taking it - er, so why was it given to me?

To cut a long story short, it turns out that this is the first case in the world where a baby has had an adverse reaction and we are going to be reported to the relevant toxicology units and may be contacted for more details. All of which is fine, but no-one can tell me if ds2 is likely to experience anything worse than a load of vomiting.

Am rather ticked off (that's an understatement btw).

Tyaca - well done on 8 hours!!
Sarah - glad the christening went well.

Me and dh are partial to niggly arguments, esp when ds1 is playing up. Which is quite a lot these days.

Lucyand2 · 22/04/2008 11:30

Beansprout - sorry to hear about the reaction to the meds, hope everything sorts itself out soon! Stupid doctors

hardly had chance to post as DD1 turned into the child from hell last week, I found myself doing lots of shouting and trying not to cry when threw yet another tantrum. This week she's all fine again so I don't know what was going on there

i'd better not join the weightloss club as I seem to have gained weight since my last weigh in, I can only blame boredom.

Arhian - by all reports your DD is gorgeous, I've been cooing over the pics!

sarahmikeharryandrosie · 22/04/2008 15:22

hope you all have a good meet up ladies,

sallyforth · 22/04/2008 17:02

Bleurgh. I still weigh the same. No willpower!!!

gingermumi · 22/04/2008 20:31

Hey ladies, haven't had much time to post again lately but have tried to catch up with what's been going on. Thanks for advice on constipation, have changed milk and ds seems to be ok now.

Hope misnatalie's ok, from what i can remember she was having a tough time.

Congrats on the excellent weight loss, haven't managed any more as have not had time to walk anywhere

Have consultant tomorrow re ds's 'fits'. He hadn't had one for a couple of weeks ans then had one on friday when we'd gone out for day.

Think i'd better go and assist dh - i can hear screaming! (ds not dh!)

sarahmikeharryandrosie · 22/04/2008 21:40

well ladies we seem to be very quiet lately- whats happening????

Jaysfinished · 22/04/2008 21:49

Not enough hours in my day!!

tyaca · 22/04/2008 22:21

i am here. esther did a second night of eight hours straight followed by a further three. on the downside she cried thru most of our baby massage class for second time in a row. luckily there is a more cry-y baby in the group, her ma and i have a much stronger bond tho' than the other mums with their quiet contented LOs ;-)

tyaca · 23/04/2008 10:34

tumbleweed! twelve hours no posts, is that a feb thread record??

leesmum · 23/04/2008 12:06

Hi ladies

Well i have lost no weight this week so i'm hoping for a good'un next week

But a huge well done to those that have lost it especially Alkar, Rozzy and Beany.

How did the meet up go yesterday? i'm very jealous, it must be lovely to put faces to names and have a good chinwag.

Beany how is your lo now? And are you ok, you must be worried sick xxx

I took lo to be weighed this morning he's now 12lb 14oz, i think most of his weight must be in his huge cheeks/chin!

Tyaca its sound like you are doing fab, have all you first time mums adjusted to the complete upheaval in your lives, it takes some getting used to and you are never prepared for it. Its worth it when they smile at you

sarahmikeharryandrosie · 23/04/2008 15:16

hi lees mum- good to hear from you, Lo is doing well with is weight,

i took Rosie yesterday and she is weighing in at 11lb 13oz and a whopping 58.5cm long!!!! at birth she was 7lb 12.5oz and 51 cm!!! what a growth at 11 weeks!!!!

She is doing really well!!!

Hope everyone is ok-

oh has a telephone call yesterday a lo that was at christening has come down with german measeles- hoping she has not passed it on to anyone- but its still a worry- (she is 9months and attached to her mummy the whole time as not feeling good obvioulsy)- (though no one knew that at the time)

not really gpt uch elso to add other than we have lovely sunshine today and was hot yesrday too maybee the summer is beginning!! yipee

Gill79 · 23/04/2008 15:16

It is quiet isn't it? Egg is incommunicado at the mo due to technical issues of some sort and she is quite a regular poster - maybe the sunshine accounts for the quietness too!

Nice to hear Esther is being good Tyaca. Touching wood as I say this but Malcolm's now gone 4 nights in a row sleeping through. I usually have to get up about 4.30 just to stick a dummy in but he'll be lying there in the dark with big wide eyes and a lovely smile just cooing away to himself so I'm always back to sleep straight away. We spent a long weekend in Glasgow - first flight (he was an angel)- and he just had the most amazing time as he met so many people, saw new things etc and I think that's helped to get him sleeping through. I also had a quick dash through to Edinburgh to meet a new baby (SO tiny in comparison!) and left Maclolm behind with DP. He didn't seem to miss me too much but the walk up from the station with giant boobs was not too comfortable!

We had a small meet-up in London at Kenwood House yesterday which was lovely - although one member of the party had to go home without their trousers Maybe the next London meet-up could be a picnic in the park somewhere central.... sometime in May?

mitfordsisters · 23/04/2008 15:56

Back online after 3 days without because we disturbed the modem when hoovering. Rang India (BT) to be asked the perennial IT question - have you tried turning it off and then on again. Which sorted it out.

V struggly, grunting baby on my knee so have to be quick.

Got some lovely new jeans in the right size and have retired the maternity ones at last.

Also, I've met some local mums and have been making plans to meet - now Hector is a bit more predictable, I'm dying to get out every day!

Tyaca, firstly of Esther's sleeping - what a genius baby! I'd love to meet up for a cup of tea if you want to - what's your email?

Bovril, I got Anita underwire nursing bras, which are great but I measured myself wrong i think as they don't fit. They are a good style though.

Gill79 - good idea - maybe Regents Park or something.

pobletsmum · 23/04/2008 17:05

Glad the meet-up went well, but that we couldn't be there.

Sarah - DD looks gorgeous in her christening dress. How awful about the german measles though. I hope there weren't any pregnant ladies there cos it can be serious for them can't it?

mitford - good to see you back

Tyaca & Gill - glad things are going better sleep-wise. It makes all the difference in the world, doesn't it?

Egg - we're missing your regular posts. Maybe you're reading all the messages on your phone though? Come back soon!

Ginger - how did DS' appt go? How is DD2? No worse, I hope.

Bovril - for nursing bras, I ended up placing a total of 3 orders with figleaves.com. I managed to find 15% off & free delivery codes on hotukdeals.com each time so it didn't cost me anything. I ordered a few styles then re-ordered different sizes where necssary, and sent back all the ones that were no good. Much easier than trawling the shops with DS & DD. I have found John Lewis OK for nursing bras in the past.

princess - how are you feeling? Has the flucon made any difference? How are all the anti-thrush measures going? It's no fun, I really feel for you. Keep ironing!

DD had her jabs yesterday, and has been a bit unsettled since. She has slept more than usual, interspersed with a few feeds and lots of kitten-like cries . She seems to be on the mend now though. We had our 8-week checks at the same time, and took along a long list of questions. I'm still having various problems, including sore scars (site of stiches), for which I'm already having ultrasound treatment, a sore nipple, tender boobs, sticky eyes, 4 weeks of a sore throat etc etc - the list is endless! Came away with MORE prescriptions for myself, DD and even DS. Overall though, we're doing vaguely OK, steering away from PND, just about. I'm getting a reasonable amount of sleep most nights, which I think is keeping me sane. DD has slept a minimum of 8 hrs in a row every night for the last week, sometimes as much as 10hrs! She sometimes settles down at 8pm in which case I expect to be up in the early hours, but sometimes has a last feed 10/11ish so we're more likely to make it through to 6am+ when DS comes in. DD still sleeps during the day too, SOOOOOO different to how DS was at this age.

We're still having feeding probs. DD clicks when feeding which can really hurt especially on the side that's already sore. Various people have looked & listened with no idea how to help, but one of our HVs went to a conference this weekend & learnt about tongue ties that aren't obvious but still cause probs. On monday she referred DD to see the consultant & he's seeing her tomorrow. I don't think she has a tongue tie but given the family history (DS' severe tongue tie) it's worth ruling out. Fingers crossed!

rozzyraspberry · 23/04/2008 19:29

Have to be quick as Dh is just finishing making the tea but I've read somewhere before poblets that if a baby's making clicking sounds when feeding its tongue could be above your nipple rather than below where it should be. This would also hurt you. Would be surprised if a health professional hadn't picked up on something as simple as that though but thought it was worth mentioning.

Quick wave to everyone else.

lljkk · 23/04/2008 19:58

Crikey, poblet, 10 hours?! I thought I was going well to get 6 hours followed by 4 (typically).
Wish I slept all that time, mind, I usually get a bout of insomnia, instead .

DS4 had his jabs last week, too. Mighty intake of breath I thought would never end, then Slept for ages afterwards.

He is really chewing on his hands lately, I think he's starting to find them. Anyone finding similar with your babies (especially the older ones in our lot?). He's only 9 weeks, so seems early to find his hands, but then he was almost 2 wks overdue, so maybe it's about right.
