sarahmikeharryandrosie · 19/04/2008 15:05

Hello ladies,

DH and i also been bickering!!!but more to do with the fact i feel taken for granted and he doesnt help me enough!!!!

Plus he has a threat of his firm going into liquidation- so he is stressed as he is the main breadwinner- i went for interview last week at out local hospital and was offered a job on the spot- won't start for at least 6 weeks but i am worried already(its 5-9 pm mon-friday) so a good break away from the house but i dont know if its right- though the extra money will be really usefull!! so either dh or my mum will have the dc's so its not like they are being left with out one of us.

Lovemymum- sorry to hear you are having a tough time, at least you are now getting the help you need, i hope you have lots of support too, please stay in touch and we will all help as much as poss,

Tyaca- they all cry- dont feel worried its totally normal.

good to hear from you samsam, hope you get feeds as you want them really soon- DD (10 weeks)has 6 oz bottles (drink 5 and a bit) every three hours during the day and her last feed is about 9-10pm til around 6 am, if thats any help to you.

All new pictures are lovely- they are growing so fast- can't belive where 10 weeks have gone- seems like yesterday i was still moaning about being pregnant!!lol

Christening is tomorrow, will put pics on as soon as i can, the cake is gorge and will put pic on of that now,

hope i have not left anyone out- if i have really sorry- hello everyone xxx

Speak soon

Sarah

sarahmikeharryandrosie · 19/04/2008 15:06

sorry that was a long post- hope you didn't fall asleep mid read!!!

cosima · 19/04/2008 15:25

hi everybody, just hurriedly read through some posts, don't have much time these days. Thought ds was a clingy baby but realised its me that is a clingy mummy.

anyway, just wanted to say that eating fennel is v good for preventing thrush, princess, i eat it raw in salad and its delish.

sarahmikeharryandrosie · 19/04/2008 16:24

hi cosima- good to hear from you, how are you?

tyaca · 19/04/2008 16:48

hey lovemymum -- big hugs, hope meds start to kick in soon. glad you got your mum there to help out. take care x

cosima · 19/04/2008 17:06

yes good thanks, ds is a real cutie, but he doesn't sleep much. loving rhyme time at the library, and went to mums and babies cinema screening the other day. But i just don't know how people manage with more than one child - I can't see how it is possible. those with more than one must be superheros. Only bad point was I ACCIDENTLY, shop lifted a sun hat the other day, it was total mumnesia! i was too embarrased to take it back! I got a parking ticket the next day tho so that was karma. Have a lovely christening Sarahmikeandharry, and hope you don't miss lo when you go back to work

princessllama · 19/04/2008 20:10

hi cosima great to hear from you. sounds like you might live near me-we have ryhme time at the library and mother and baby screening-do you live in west london? accidental shoplifting is to be expected what with sleep deprivation. will be stocking up on fennel.
hope the christening goes well sarah.
leesmum, lo is doing better with ferdie than she was, she doesn't try and drag him off me by his neck when he's feeding anymore but she's really keen for him to go in his basket or for anyone else to hold him apart from me or dh.
really sorry about the pnd lovemymum. really glad you're getting help.
poblet, i managed to go back to the hospital today and they go by the bfn leaflet advice so got the prescription for flucozal. only downside is that it's private not nhs so i have a big bill, but it sounds like it really sorts the thrush so it's worth it and fortunately am lucky to be able to afford it.
egg i'm constantly reining it in with lo not to be shouty mummy-lost it a bit when she jammed the balamory dvd into player and got it stuck.
samsmam sounds normal if she feeds all day to get ready for long nights-quite envious.
great pictures tyaca and sally.
i am going to give myself a big pat if get through tonight without screaming at dh again. bad bad lady this am when said he was turning into the sort of man i'd want to divorce-v silly as was angry and didn't mean it and really upset him

cosima · 19/04/2008 20:22

princess i live in south east london. As for the shopliftitign , well if you'd seen the price of this baby's sunhat you would think that was robbery. I just need to get the security tag off!

mitfordsisters · 19/04/2008 21:16

just been checking out the baby pics and also put one up of hector i think, if i've done it right. may i ask sarahmikeharryandrosie, have you managed to train the labrador to babysit yet??

cosima, can't believe you've turned to crime!

princess, we've bandied about the 'd' word in our house too, but it's only because we've been so tired and overwrought - only natural considering the circumstances.

afraid that i won't make it to the kenwood meetup as it's a bit far. Any south london mummies fancy a meet up sometime?

Redbush · 19/04/2008 21:35

Hello ladies - just popping in again to have a quick catch up on the news and wanted to see how you had got on Jaysfinished. Glad it was all quick and not too traumatic for you - I'm bad enough about the injections. I did send an email but not sure if it arrived. We had 6 week check this week and discussed tongue tie with GP. Basic consensus is that we should leave it alone. It's all a bit hit and miss with feeding sometimes she latchs on beautifully other times we're bobbing the whole time. However last night she fed at 10pm then 4am then 7.30 so she's obviously getting enough food to satisfy her. Sorry can't remember how old Connor is? Very impressed that he's down at 7pm til early hrs. Evening seems to be the worst time for us - she stocks up between 6pm and 8pm but gets to a point of being so tired she doesn't really know what to do with herself until we persuade her to go to sleep.
We did however have our first success with a bottle today - tried a Tommy Tippee and it seemed to do the trick
Sorry alkar haven't read the whole thread but how are you doing is lo any more settled? we use infacol to help our lo with wind - she gets lots with the poor latching on. Off now to eat chocolate!! Have a good Sun everybody

Redbush · 19/04/2008 21:39

Oops - obviously not fully alert this evening - sorry alkar mixed your posting with Tyaca - was your lo's a growth spurt or have you started to add formula - it was Tyaca with the windy bit - mm definitely going to eat chocolate!

sarahmikeharryandrosie · 19/04/2008 21:51

Mitford- Hector is aboslutely Gorgeous!!! you must be so proud-

As for our dog merlin- he is great with both DC's pity he cant feed coz then he would be first choice babysitter- very protective of DD- and so gentle when Ds plays(latest game is steal the bone and run!!!)!!! although he is huge!!lol

cosima · 20/04/2008 07:31

mitford - i've turned to god so shall repent, and on that note

SarahM+H what is the score with christenings? Does the whole christening party go to the church service on the sunday? or do guests come just for the christening bit?

leesmum · 20/04/2008 08:13

Hi cosima great to hear from you x

Sarah i hope you all have a lovely day, the cake looks yummy its a shame to put a knife in it! We have seen the Cannon about James christening, its on the august bank holiday weekend (so everyone can have more booze!)

And as for divorce, well me and Dp have just had our 15yr anniversary, i don't know if we'll ever get married, i'm actually not that bothered, we're quite happy as we are but i think we might get round to is one day, maybe when the boys are old enough to give me away

Have a lovely sunday everyone xxx

pobletsmum · 20/04/2008 18:33

lovemymum - sorry to hear things are difficult for you, but it sounds as though you're doing everything you can to help yourself.

Jays - so pleased the 'op' went well. I remember so well the relief of it all being over when DS' tongue tie was 'done'. It's like a whole new start.

princess - this is going to be long, sorry! I'm so glad you got the fluconazole, although it's a real shame you had to pay. How many days' worth did you get? Make sure you take a loading dose on day 1, as per the BfN leaflet. I took it for 3 and a half weeks. I was told to take the tablet after the last feed especially the 1st day (double dose), to minimise transfer into milk. The baby does get some in the milk, which has the bonus of helping their thrush too! It's licensed to give directly to babies in concentrations higher than they get in the milk, so that reassured me about it being safe for DD, despite it not being licensed in lactating mothers. I was quite fortunate that DD has slept at least 4-5 hrs at night since day 1, so that was when I took the tablet each night. You must must must keep treating DS' mouth and your nipples too, preferably with miconazole gel (horrible stuff to use I'm afraid) and miconazole cream respectively - if you haven't got these, maybe go back to GP on mon, as there's no point treating yourself if DS is just going to give it back to you due to ineffective treatment. We had Nystatin drops (DD) and canestan cream (me) for 1 week, with no effect, then Miconazole for both of us for a total of about 4 weeks (until my flucon course was finished). As for sterilising, even boilng for 10 mins doesn't kill the thrush spores!!!!! You have to boil for at least 20 mins, or ideally use milton solution being really careful to get rid of all the air bubbles. Advice is to throw away dummies and teats every few days (gets expensive, but thrush is so EVIL!), but sterilising in between as much as poss. I changed breast pads after every feed. You asked about the washing. I washed as much as poss at 95degees (muslins etc), and eerything else at 60 (unlikely to kill spores) then tumble dried everything that had been in contact with milk, including muslins, nighties, washable breast pads etc. Breast pads, bras and nighties all got ironed. I know this all sounds excessive but I was absolutely desperate to get rid of the pain, I was prepared to go the extra mile. Phew that's it! I'll happily answer any questions. I can't CAT you but feel free to contact me and I'll reply even if you just want to chat. Best of luck!

tyaca · 20/04/2008 19:52

hey there all. princess, when i have been skimming the thread have been sorry to hear the tough time you've been having with infections etc. Also, physical pain aside, your threads always sound like you're being quite tough on yourself. Pain and physical discomfort are awful, make people bampot crazy. Hope things make a turn for the better.

Re rows with the other half ... glad i'm not the only one. We did our biggest excursion to date today to his mum's and had one of the biggest we've ever had. all ok now, but i bought a pack of ciggies after . been really good and not started smoking since i stopped BF - really want to keep this up.

Cosima - where are you going to the cinema?? i am in Streatham and have been meaning to go to either the Brixton or Clapham Big Screams. Without being cheeky, I reckon your postcode might be busable from mine so if you ever fancy company let me know and i'll give you my email. Similarly Mitfordsis - i'm not up to great big cross london trips at the moment, but am an easy 20min train journey from London Bridge, so if you ever fancy a coffee let me know

well here is my trivial concern of the moment. i have my six week check up and there is no way i can really avoid getting in a lift with esther. i've always battled with claustro but have basically been getting better the last couple of years. still dodgy with new lifts tho' and this is one i have never been in before and it is small. i have her six week check on thurs which not worried about as can just take her in sling, so can do stairs. but reckon for the me check i will have to be able to put her down so sling not appropriate and will need to take pram. grrrrr.... have thought about every poss way of not getting the lift, but will just have to DO IT. v scared of it stopping// me losing it rad-de-rah etc. if any of you find your minds wandering at 9.25 tomo am, do send me strong positive vibes.

tyaca · 20/04/2008 19:58

oooohhh and after almost two days of no poo and lots of writing tummy pain, esther finally cleared herself out in the most spectacular fashion at my Mils. was on my lap when there was an explosion of epic proportions. laws of gravity ignored as it all went UP her vest and all over her poor thing. BUT at least she;s a happier baby now. last night was a mare - DH eaten more veg than normal and was farting non-stop in his sleep my right. in some unholy stereo, esther farting away to my left with all the accompanying grunts and groans.

Jaysfinished · 20/04/2008 20:21

Hi ladies, thought id better rear my ugly head!

REDBUSH, Cooper (not Connor!!) will be 6 weeks next Thursday, so he was 4wks plus when he had his tongue tie done. It really has made a difference to feeding him ( last weigh in he was 13lbs 9ozs!!) and his latch, am pleased i had it done. Have noticed he has a tiny little indent left in the tip (of his tongue) where the tie used to pull it back, i am kinda hoping it stays, its sweet!
BTW i only got one email from you, did you send more??

Sorry to hear of all the altercations that are occurring with DH/DP i know how you are all feeling, i have had the most awful rows with my DH, i know i am being unreasonable but i cant seem to stop myself sometimes....sleep deprivation does horrid things to you!

Tyaca sending out MAHOOSIVE vibes to you, am sure it will be fine, just keep focused and try and keep relaxed, hope it goes well

Princess, hope you feel better soon, its such a bind when things go wrong can feel like it goes on forever. It will come to an end

Sarah, hope your day went well, not sure where you are, but we had horrid rain here, hope your weather was better for you get som epics up soon!

Leesmum @ LO is asleep because the fan is on. With DS1 i use dot put the hairdryer/hoover/fuzzy radio on next to his crib...hed go in an instant, never thought about the fan though, will make a mental note!

Hector is lovely Mitford, i will post up some pics, and let you all know when i have done it..need to work out how to removed redeye first!! I have put a wee video of Cooper on Facebook, if anyone is on it and wants to 'be my friend' let me know!!

Hope everyone else is ok, and managing to cope with new babies, they are growing sooooo fast! xxxx

princessllama · 20/04/2008 20:22

tyaca we're always really happy too when ferdie does a gravity defyer, seems to involve so much effort. how about you take the buggy tomorrow and then ask a kind person to accompany the buggy up to your floor whilst you walk up with esther.
thank you poblet, i have just finished ironing my pj top and my bra-felt like should be certified to be ironing rather than diving for bed before next feed. i have 200mg capsules to take twice a day for 10 days. having seen that that was what you had too and it still took forever i am going to make even more effort with the sterilising etc. having big trouble resisting eating sugary things. ferdie has the gel at long last for his mouth and i have the nystatin cream. better go to bed.

Jaysfinished · 20/04/2008 21:24

New and improved pics on profile!!

xx

sarahmikeharryandrosie · 20/04/2008 22:23

had a fab day- no rain just overcast, our christening was beautiful all went well, and had a great time, both Dc's were great- Rosie slept all thru the church service even water on head bit!!! was very impressed,

cosima- we inveded all to the service and then onto the party afterwards, church was 12-30 and room was booked from 1-6 with food all provided so it went really well for us!!!

adding pics now for you all to see, will add some more as i get them from other people- they have all four of together etc

alkar · 21/04/2008 09:47

Redbush did you try any other bottles first or go straight to the tommy tippee ones? I have tried avent bottles but DS just wont take them. I was thinking of trying the tommy tippee ones??

Glad the chrstening went well sarah, rosie looks really cute in the photos, how was the cake?

Me and DH had a huge row yesterday about nothing so I am glad to hear we aren't the only ones!

Nice pictures Jays and tyaca. How did you get on with the lift today?

tyaca · 21/04/2008 10:33

bottled the lift. managed to fold her big changing mat in quarters so it fitted one of my bags. put her in sling with a view to popping her on the mat if needs be, but no needing be'd ... dammit tho' poor dh is going to have to some lift training with me as a) life's going to a hassle with lo/s and scared of lifts and b) cant pass on my neurosis to esther

and a quick drum roll please for following announcement... she slept for eight hours solid last night ... [takes a bow and exits stage left]

have a good day all

rozzyraspberry · 21/04/2008 16:21

Hi everyone. Have read all posts - don't have time to respond to everyone but thinking of all of you - especially those of you still having problems with bf and pnd. (Princess I'm that you had to pay for the medicine that you need - hopefully it'll do the trick though). Can't believe how quickly the babies are growing - the last 10 weeks have just gone in a flash for me.

Ok, according to the scales I've lost 4lbs this week. I've had a bit of a helping hand as I wasn't very well overnight on Saturday so didn't eat that much yesterday. Definitely saved on calories as we had a family party for my nephews 2nd birthday yesterday and there was lots of cakes, sausage rolls and crisps and I didn't fancy any of it. Did then send DH out for chips at 8pm though as I was feeling a bit better and was craving salty chips. I've not been quite so good on the food front this week but have being doing lots of exercise which I think is a more sustainable way of losing weight for me cause I love my food! Felt much better this morning but think I then did too much and am feeling a bit headachy and woozy again so will just try to have another early night. Not very nice being up to feed lo in the night when you're feeling rubbish. Just hope none of the boys get sick now.
