info on Scarsdale Diet It's a v strict diet I followed in 2006 and lost 3 stone! He tells you what to eat every day for 2 weeks, then you have a 2-week "maintenance plan" to follow. You repeat the 2-week cycles as often as you need to lose the weight.

While it's strict, it's loose up to a point... IE, Wednesday night, he might tell you to eat lamb, tomatoes & vegetables. But you can have as much lamb as you like, and cooked however you like (without fat). So you could use the tomatoes to make, say, a Mediterranean (sp??) lamb stew.

I loved it. It's like an easier, less hurl-inducing, version of Atkins. You eat lots of salad, veg, fruit, meat and fish, just cut out the processed stuff basically. No fat, sugar or booze.

I lost an average of 1lb a day on the fortnights when I followed the diet plan (less on Maintenanceweeks) and it stayed off til I got pregnant and ran riot with the Maltesers, etc.

If anyone fancies it it IS a bit hard-core I know, but good for a kickstart I'd love to do it together. Otherwise, I'm going to start it next week.

I found I was eating what models say theyeat. You know, prawn salads, grilled fish & veggies, bottles of Perrier, 20 Rothmans, etc.

I bet you're all going to effortlessly drop your 7lb pregnancy weights just drinking water and power-walking past the chocolate aisle, while I'll be going insane on my crazy anorexic diet plan, and losing an ounce! You'll see me on here posting endlessly about food. I might even getso calorie-deprived, I'll start drolling reading the breastfeeding treads! lolol

BEAUTlFUL · 01/04/2008 13:46

drooling, I mean, and threads. ARGH. See, can't even type anymore. Hands have gone shaky at the thought of fewer Mars bars...

Jaysfinished · 01/04/2008 14:54

Hey long lost buddies, pals, fellow baby birthers! Hows it all going?

God its hard work isnt it. I really dont know how i get through the day i really dont, i think its a bit hit and miss really! Three young 'uns' 2,1 and 2 weeks, its killing me, whose idea was it to have them this close...!!

Anyway, DS2 - Cooper, is a marvel, i had SUCH a hard time with DS1 that i was bracing myself for more of the same, but hes so the opposite, quite placid, hardly cries, sleeps loads and is generally an all round good egg... DS1 on the other hand, is still the monster from hell and wont sleep without a massive struggle and huge amounts of crying, hes ALWAYS whingeing and Whineing! Hes up and about on his feet in the last few days, youd think he would be happy about that, nope, just the same, he does my head in i tell you!!

How are everyone elses lo's?

Poblet, i saw a lactation consultant last week (mostly due to the fact DS2 has a tongue tie and wasnt latching well. She was really good, and so nice and helpful, hope your consultation went/goes well!

hmmm where is Tyaca??

Am impressed with all you ladies who are dieting... am with you all in spirit although it takes me a while to work up the effort to start dieting never been one for exercise and healthy eating, and it shows! I think i need to shed about 5 stone, even then i would still be a bit overweight... ho hum, by the time i stop BF i WILL be in the right 'zone' to tackle it, promise

Right then off to enjoy some peace.. ALL three LO'S asleep, but you can bet that when i put this Laptop down and get on with something constructive, one of them will wake up!!!

LOVEMYMUM · 01/04/2008 14:56

I've lost my pregnancy bulk simply by breastfeeding! I'm not even trying to lose weight - it just happened. Sorry! I don't think i've been eating a lot though - mostly drinking cos i feel thirsty. Am not so thirsty now am giving her bottles every few hours and topping up with breast milk.

Katie is sleeping more now she has the bottle. Am not used to her being so settled!

LOVEMYMUM · 01/04/2008 15:03

Just scanned v quickly before i have a nap.

Welcome Beautiful.

Am in no rush to have nookie with DH - I'd rather sleep and DH is tired too. Anyway, we need to get contraception sorted out. If it isn't too personal, can i ask you ladies what method you are using and how you are finding it to use? I am 35 and a non-smoker. DH isn't too fond of condoms (and i'm not too fond of being pregnant in a few months!). I have to ensure i don't get pregnant cos i had a c-section and want to wait a year before trying again. (Preferably 18 months!)

beansprout · 01/04/2008 15:36

Hi everyone, will try and catch up later but just wanted to pop in. I fell over last night and have concussion so have been at the hospital. Am ok but a bit out to lunch!

Egg · 01/04/2008 15:41

Bloody hell Beany?!!?!?! You ok??? How did it happen? In the dark whilst trying to get to your DS2?

One of our Feb ladies over here needs our support please girls.

beansprout · 01/04/2008 16:11

I fell over last night at about half seven and smacked my face on a door frame. Luckily (?!) my cheekbone and jaw caught the worst of it, apparently it's the temples that are the most vulnerable. Dh got quite upset, gave me a big hug and told me that nothing horrible must ever happen to me which was quite touching as our relationship is currently like that film quote, "it's like running a small nursery with someone you used to date."

I could do with a hand but we don't have any family nearby and I only seem to know working parents. Bugger. Ah well, it's what CBeebies was invented for!! Have to go and pick up ds1 now so will throw myself on the mercy of the travelling public!!

Anyway, will catch up properly later. Sorry to come on here and be all about me!!

rozzyraspberry · 01/04/2008 16:23

God beany sleep deprivation has a lot to answer for! Hope you feel better soon.

Hope your meeting with the lactation consultant was useful poblets. Your dd is obviously getting enough milk if she can go for 8 hours at night (am very ) - just you who's suffering.

For anyone who is wanting to diet I did the gi diet on tesco.com after I stopped bf ds2 and lost a lot of weight and it was pretty easy. Will probably do that again if the bf and treadmill don't do the trick.

Egg · 01/04/2008 16:25

Do take care of yourself though, you might get a bit dizzy etc. Can DH take a day off to help you out.

It does take moments like those to make you appreciate your DH/DP and vice versa. My DH found a dodgy looking moley thing on holiday last Oct and it was just so scary looking we were convinced it was cancerous. He paid through the nose to see the hotel doc that day who said it was some kind of sun blister thing (not even a mole ) but in the couple of hours before he saw the doc I was terrified of losing him.

Loving the film quote .

sarahmikeharryandrosie · 01/04/2008 16:49

oh dear egg- i hope we can all help sherida get through this-

Egg · 01/04/2008 16:50

Sarah have just requested you as a friend on FB . Then I can browse pics of your hottie DH all night .

sarahmikeharryandrosie · 01/04/2008 17:20

Egg- does ur dh know!!!lol i dont want to get you into any trouble-

sarahmikeharryandrosie · 01/04/2008 17:23

this will sound harsh but i spose i just forget how lucky i am- was so surprised you thought my DH was a"hottie" most of the time i just see him covered in oil etc( he is a machine(digger) mechanic) with a stubbly face!!!lol

However i must say i still fancy the pants of him after 6 years together!!!

sarahmikeharryandrosie · 01/04/2008 17:23

oh egg- you FB profile still says your preg with twins- unles you forgot to tell us!!!

Egg · 01/04/2008 17:30

HAha yes I forgot to say I am expecting another set .

NO WAY NO WAY NO WAY

I will never be announcing another pregnancy EVER.

Will go and change it.

Will not really be looking at your DH tonight. Mine is handsome too [proud].

Egg · 01/04/2008 17:33

Changed my FB profile page pic to show DH now .

beansprout · 01/04/2008 17:54

Poblet - how did it go?!

Lol at the belly buttons - mine is ugh and brown too and and about twice the diameter it used to be. Practically cavernous atm. Eugh. Davina doesn't mention that on her DVD!

I want to join in the diet thing. I'm after losing at least half a stone. Am going to follow the "eat less, move more" principle and eat 3 meals a day, only snack on fruit and generally walk as much as I can. Having ds2 strapped to me means any walk turns into exercise!!

The sling came in handy today too - if you want to be seen in A&E, walk in claiming a suspected head injury with a baby strapped to you and you will be seen in seconds!!!

I want to join in the FB stuff but am too much of a luddite!! Perhaps I will try and suss it out later.

Jaysfinished · 01/04/2008 18:04

whos who on FB, i am on it too??

Jo9977 · 01/04/2008 19:07

Well done omy for getting LO's passport sorted! What with trying to get a decent piccie, someone to sign it and all the other 'stuff' going on - it's a mare!

Respect to all you ladies on the weight loss program...note the lack of addition of my name - too much like hard work

Loads of lovely pictures everyone!!! - going to put my latest one on now!

Sherida · 01/04/2008 19:13

HI guys, back over here please see my thread that EGG linked further up the page.

I've been to the doctors, and she has said I'm not clinically depressed, however I need to go back if I don't start to feel better.

I do feel rotten about having to formula feed but being on here lets me know I'm not the only one who would rather be bf. I hear so much about how bf is the only way to go, and how ff isn't that great it hurts to have to do it to my DD. DH is brilliant, really supportive, apparantly my HV isn't. She brushed off not being able to bf, apparantly didn't tell me about clinics being run at my local hospital and cancelled appts without telling me and after making 2 more appointments to see me at my house apparantly isn't coming. Part of me really, REALLY wants to become a HV to make sure other people don't get this treatment! Who's with me? Let's all jack our jobs in, get into midwifery and bring back the positive!!!!!

OK so it's not gonna happen but I'm sure lots of you have had the same thought.

Jo9977 · 01/04/2008 19:20

Oh bean, that's scary hope you feel better soon!

Sherida, sweetheart, hang in there! I so wanted to breastfeed and couldn't because was advised against it because on anti depressants so you've done loads better than me! And listen to the positive things that other people say, surround yourself with people who tell you how well you're doing and believe them! It's hard I know, cos I went through a stage where it seemed my LO smiled at everyone but me and I was just a 'functioning' mother but IT'S NOT TRUE!! You are their world!!!

SallyInYorkshire · 01/04/2008 19:20

yeah, my belly button is also ugh amd brown. am reassured as from my mums reaction you would have thought i had leprosy or summat

anyone got any idea if this ever goes away?

lovemymum - contraception lol - my midwife asked me about this over the phone when discharging me and I said very firmly ABSTINENCE. (the teachers at my very proper girls school would have been proud). my position on this issue remains unchanged

sarahmikeharryandrosie · 01/04/2008 19:28

My god Egg- DS1 looks so much like his daddy- i see why you wont be looking at my hubby tonight(although i really dont mind- i think is a lovely compliment- i have caught and kept a real hottie believe me i never thought that would ever happen) your own is lovely!!!!!

You have given my DH a real ego boost anyhow!!!

jays- i am on face book as Sarah Monaghan in MN group or the midlands network-!!! see you there!!!!

Jo- good to hear from you- looking forward to seeing new pics!!!

Sherida- Welcome back- Glad to hear the doc was more hekp tp you than you rubbish HV- i agree would love to become a HV and prove that it can be done correctly- but wouldn't be able to deal with dirty houses/chilp protcetion stuff etc!!!!But i know what you mean the sercie def should change for the better!!!

Stay in touch on here we will all help you as much as we can- ur not alone at all!!!

Beany- how is your concussion? hope all ok!!!

Anyway got an old neighbour popping this eve so i will not be on til later- have a good night all

xxxx
