Quiet on here tonight

lackaDAISYcal · 07/03/2008 20:59

I'm lurking . Getting my MN fix after a day away from it!

OP posts:
foxythesnowman · 07/03/2008 21:05

What have you been doing then, taking you away from MN?!

lackaDAISYcal · 07/03/2008 21:14

growling at DH for hogging the office

went to baby group this morning and did some housework this afternoon. WE collected DS together today and went to the park (DDs first go on the swings; she was less than impressed), then came home and had pizza and nachos for tea in front of Pirates of the Carribean Dead Man's Chest.

I'm worrying about DD though, she lost 5.5 ozs since last Friday, and has only gained 2ozs in the last five weeks!

foxythesnowman · 07/03/2008 21:22

what's behind the weight-loss? Has she been ill? I know you are concerned about her skin, any inkling what's going on?

Izzybel · 07/03/2008 21:27

Woah! It is quiet here tonight.
My mum had her endoscopy today, which came back clear. Good news for now, but she has to go back for a colonoscopy.
Been feeling crap today. Have had a sore throat and chest most of the week and now I've got a bloody cold! Last night I was coughing so much I made myself sick.
It's bugging me coz I never get ill and when I am I'm quite pathetic!
Poor DD with her poor skin, Daisy, I hope it gets better soon. I understand your worries about her weight. DD went through a period of very slow weight gain and dropped a centile. The HV wasn't worried as she hadn't dropped enough to be, but I was. I would give her anything just to fatten her up! Your DD does sound incredibly mobile though, so maybe that is why. She always sounds like she is a pretty chirpy and happy baby.

lackaDAISYcal · 07/03/2008 21:27

I'm not entirely sure, but have an inkling it might be milk related. Her skin got bad when she was about 16 weeks (about the time we started giving her the odd bottle of formula), and in the last couple of months is just getting worse. I started giving her a daytime bottle last week with a view to cutting out BFing soon and it;s definately worse. She hasn't had any dairy since Wednesday and it seems to be improving.

she is more active, but I wouldn't have said that active. Of course it's probably a combination of factors, but it's not nice seeing the figures go down is it?

Is DP off with work again this weekend?

lackaDAISYcal · 07/03/2008 21:30

izzy, good news for your mum; at least from the top end .

DD was sick at the beginning of the week and had a very runny bottom on Tuesday, but it was just a 24 hour thing. Don't know if that would be enough to do it.

We're cutting out dairy for a bit, and then will give some to her and see what happens. It might also be gluten (she has a 1 in 10 risk) as we've only recently started giving her real bread and pasta. God it's bloody difficult isn't it?

OP posts:
foxythesnowman · 07/03/2008 21:37

I really wouldn't worry about the slow gain, Daisy. They can't keep putting the weight on at the same rate - they'd be gigantic! Together with the movement, and illness, could indeed cause weight-loss.

Its a tricky one because of the dairy and gluten, because I'd immediately start giving more cheese, yogurts and bread. What is she eating at the moment?

Yep, DP is away again. Only another two more, then he's only away one out of four I think.

Izzybel · 07/03/2008 21:37

Bless her. It's times like this when you wished that they could tell you whats wrong, how they are feeling.
Another reason why I was worried about DD was that she was very sicky. It could be hours after she ate and she would vomit everywhere. Even now she 's still very sick, but not as bad as she was. It's a nightmare when we go to m and b group, she always wants to go on her stomach to play and next thing you know she's been sick all over the mat. I was a bit worried that she might have been intolerant to something, but it seems to be calming down a bit

foxythesnowman · 07/03/2008 21:39

Sorry Izzy, didn't mean to ignore you. Sorry that you are ill, but that's a bit of good news about your mum. Fingers crossed for more good news for her

Izzybel · 07/03/2008 21:40

Hey Foxy! How are you?

lackaDAISYcal · 07/03/2008 21:43

she usually has cereal or toast for brekkie, a sandwich or leftovers for lunch and whatever we're having at teatime, with fruit or cheese or raisins for snacks and the odd yogurt or rice pudding. Pretty average stuff really, but her pasta is mostly gluten free (I can't be faffed cooking separately just for me).

We'll see what the doc says.

Izzy, my DS was like that until he was about 9mo old, and looking back it was probably reflux. It stopped very suddenly though iirc.

I am sat here watching a cookery programme on how to make a Victoria Sponge.

I am remembering how I used to spend my Friday nights.

I am depressed.

lackaDAISYcal · 07/03/2008 21:44

foxy, without giving too much away on a public forum, what does your DP do exactly?

OP posts:
TALLULAHBELLE · 07/03/2008 21:45

Hi how's everyone? Have given up all hope of catching up with previous threads. Impossible. How you keepin' Daisy?

Riallymusttryharder · 07/03/2008 21:45

hi izzy & foxy.

glad the results were clear for your mum.

sorry to go on, but I'm shattered and from my lower back downwards am in agony. I hate my new trainers. Can you believe I looked at a coat today - one of those button up military style tunic things - and I didn't let myself buy it cos it was purple

foxythesnowman · 07/03/2008 21:46

Are you doing BLW?

lackaDAISYcal · 07/03/2008 21:46

lol foxy, we watched Ice Road Truckers and are now on New Tricks

equally depressed here.

I'm digging a potato patch tomorrow!

Oops, apparently I'm not. DH categorically refuses to let me near a digging implement.....bless him.

Riallymusttryharder · 07/03/2008 21:47

hi tallulahbelle.

Does anyone know how derlor & JBM are doing?

foxythesnowman · 07/03/2008 21:48

Hi T & Ria! I like those style of coats Ria.

Riallymusttryharder · 07/03/2008 21:49

for once I'm not depressed, just bored.

and for once NOT watching New Tricks (did you see the pilot episode the other night?), will probably move on to a Midsomer Murders dvd later.

foxythesnowman · 07/03/2008 21:49

Did you know that some oven manufacturers actually test their ovens by making a victoria sponge?!

How farking fascinating?!!

AAAARRRGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

lackaDAISYcal · 07/03/2008 21:50

too many questions

foxy, we chuck her some food to keep her occupied whilst we are eating, and we spoon feed her every other forkful/when she makes too much noise, but I suppose it's BLW of sorts. She is very determined to feed herself, and lets us knoe when she is finished by blowing it all out again accompanied by a big raspberry.

I'm doing OK Tallulah, not too many MS symptoms yet, but it's early days.

How are you and yours? Have you settled back to life in sunny glasgow?

OP posts:
lackaDAISYcal · 07/03/2008 21:51

derlor is off skiiing I think, and jbm's pooter is down. she dropped in quickly last week on her DPs pooter. Other than that, not sure.
