morning ria. Your card sounds lovely!

i'm gutted as dh was going to feed dd so i could get a lie in but i had a dream about my phone waking dd up at 3am then realised it was a dream and thought, yay at least I am still asleep, then realised I must be awake to be thinking that! So I thought I might as well get up and score some brownie points with DH. So bang goes my lie in!

Izzy hope your mum is ok.

Daisy, I guess 30% is a bit cheap, but the NCT is a charity so it's not so bad. I am having to get up early to go an volunteer though, so I get first pick of the goods.

Got to go into work to day to find a job

milkyJammy · 07/03/2008 08:05

Morning Ria, Bumper.

Sorry about your cancelled trip Ria. Hope you have a nice day anyway.

Good luck with trip to work Bumper. What do mean by look for a job? Sorry, feeling a bit dim this morning.

Riallymusttryharder · 07/03/2008 08:15

I have just sent a long email to my other sister. I must go and get the kids ready for school or the 6.30am start will have been pointless as we will be late!

I might resurrect facebook later, if I can remember my username.

Have a good day all.

Thing DS1 may have just had a serious accident, judging by the almighty bang and clatter, followed by yell that just occured. Suppose I should go and investigate...

BumperliciousNeedsaGlassofWine · 07/03/2008 08:23

Ria hope ds is ok!

Jammy I have to find a new job within my company & it's a real faff as nothing can be done by phone or email so i have had to go into work about 3 times. does anyone know. should i be paid for keeping in touch days when i am getting SMP?

LittleMissNorty · 07/03/2008 09:18

Bumper - yes, I got full pay for 10 Keeping in touch days during my mat leave.

Morning all

Ria - shame about trip out and lunch ..hope DS is OK

Izzy - fingers crossed for your mum x

andiem · 07/03/2008 09:19

morning
bumper no you don't get paid for keeping in touch days but your smp won't be stopped either iyswim

I am going into work next wed to pack up all my books papers etc feels final but actually quite liberating

ria hope ds is ok

andiem · 07/03/2008 09:20

norty how did you manage that

HollyPutTheHabitOn · 07/03/2008 09:28

Morning all.

Bumper, I too am in NCT sale hell! My sale isn't until next weekend, so I've still got a while to sort things out, but I've only got 5 tickets out of the 50 left and I haven't even done any baby clothes yet! There is another sale in the neighbouring district at the end of the month, so I might put the baby clothes in that one. Let me know how the volunteering goes, I was thinking about doing it too...obv to get the first pick of stuff!!

Daisy, I am currently sorting through my maternity stuff, so I'll send you a few nice bits if you want. I have some lovely stuff and would love to see it go to someone lovely!

We didn't go swimming in the end yesterday, we didn't have time. So we are going to go later today. It's going to be fun!

LittleMissNorty · 07/03/2008 09:48

The law changed last April and that means that you can work for 10 days and not lose your SMP - I don't work for nothing! Well, not all the time anyway and I got paid full pay. I work for the NHS so assume that's correct

andiem · 07/03/2008 09:50

norty I thought it meant you just didn't lose smp not that you got paid for it doh

Riallymusttryharder · 07/03/2008 10:05

DS was fine - slipped and hurts his foot, but he doesn't know how it happened. Erm, might be all the crap anf marbles on your bedroom floor.

approx 14 weeks til my sis comes home. A my dad put it, -2lb a week, that's two stone gone. Thanks Dad!

BumperliciousNeedsaGlassofWine · 07/03/2008 10:34

at your dad ria!

Norty did you take all of those 10 days and did you get automatically paid for them? I've only gone in for an hour or 2 each time. Maybe I will have to put in an overtime claim.

Holly, ours are separated into clothing and toy & equipment, so only have to worry about the clothes for now.

LittleMissNorty · 07/03/2008 11:11

I arranged with my manager to do my hours at home as I didn't have cover for part of my job and before I left for mat leave, I filled in the following 6 months worth of time sheets and on 10 days of that, I just put that I'd worked my 7 hours and they paid me....which was very nice! The other thing that people do is when they've tagged on their A/L (as you are doing now), is just to use one of those days IYSWIM....give yourself an extra day's A/L and assume that you've worked today and make sure all your bits and pieces add up to your 7 hours. I'd be quite happy for one of my girls to do that. you're being paid FT anyway.

Probably need to speak to your HR dept.

Andiem - wouldn't have done it unless they paid me

Riallymusttryharder · 07/03/2008 11:23

Lovely DH is taking me to town an to deliver sis's b'day card after the nursery pick-up.
Not the same as a girls day out with no kids, but bless him all the same

andiem · 07/03/2008 11:27

that's nice ria dhs can be nice sometimes

norty I am a right mumptey when it comes to things like that
when I had ds1 I didn't know about the acrued a/l so didn't get any when I was on mat leave they had to pay me for it all when I started back at work doh
but this time I have had it deducted from the money I have to pay them back and it has made a big difference

Riallymusttryharder · 07/03/2008 15:51

Yippee, I got two pairs of proper jean-coloured jeans in my charity shop trawl. Had a good walk round town so feel a bit exercised too. DH stayed in the car with DS3 who was asleep but that's fine. It made a nice change. Have to tackle the ironing now.

Ooops, forgot about the salmon I'm cooking for DS3s tea

milkyJammy · 07/03/2008 16:11

Sounds good Ria

The jamlet just wriggled backwards right across the room Then as we were having a celebratory cuddle she launched herself off my lap (I was sitting on floor thankfully) and landed face first on a hard plastic toy. Ever so upset she is

HollyPutTheHabitOn · 07/03/2008 17:08

PMSL ria! I just read your "I must tackle the ironing" as "I must iron the tackle"! Ouch! Glad you had a good day, I love a charity shop trawl!

Poor jamlet, hope she is ok.

We had a lovely swim, ds and dd really enjoyed themselves. It was all too much for poor dp though, he is now asleep on the sofa .

Riallymusttryharder · 07/03/2008 17:13

aww poor DP.
Maybe I should try ironing the tackle instead? I've always thought a strategic industrial accident when DH at work could solve all my problems

Poor jamlet (I love that name BTW).

My salmon mush was fine - I had been sat here about 15 mins wondering what the smell was. I put in leek, potato and garden peas, cooked in milk, and baggins loved it.

I am shattered, now I remember why I don't go shopping.

milkyJammy · 07/03/2008 17:52

Salmon mush sounds good Ria. We weren't quite that advanced. The jamlet had a tuna bakie for her tea. I wanted to put some sweetcorn in but we didn't have any. I didn't think of peas. D'oh!

She's fine after the face bashing incident. I can't see any marks so I don't think she really did much damage, just a big shock. And she was getting tired and hungry by that point of the afternoon too, which didn't help. Lots of cuddles & a little BF sorted her out though. She's since had her tea and is now snoozing on her beanbag. Has been a big day for her all in all - we went to Rhyme Time at the library and for the first time she got asked to pick an animal out of the bad while singing Old MacDonald (she must be getting bigger!). She pulled out a cow. And we bought her a book, making use of the book token we were given for World Book Day yesterday, and had a quick weigh in with the HV (9.1kg) and had great fun on the swings at the park

milkyJammy · 07/03/2008 17:53

(Liking the thought of ironing the tackle btw )

Riallymusttryharder · 07/03/2008 18:19

I apologise to the fashion police out there, but I am looking for some new - less purple - crocs on ebay.

Is it the ballet pump ones you have holly? what colour?

lackaDAISYcal · 07/03/2008 19:13

evening.

DH has been in the office all day, so no pooter for me

Took DD to see the HV this morning about her skin etc; they weighed her and she ahs lost 5.5ozs since last Friday . In the last five weeks she has only gained 2ozs total. HV really good though, and said she hasn't crossed a centile band yet, so not unduly worried, but I explained all my food worries, so we are booked in to see the GP on Tuesday. I can understand how upset people get when their babies aren't gaining enough wieght now, as I feel awful that she is suffering under my care.

re the keeping in touch days, it was my understanding that it was up to you to decide whether you would take advantage of them, and up to your employer to decide whether or not they would pay you, and how much. Any amount earned on these days would not affect your SMP.

holly, that would be lovely thanks

right better go and sort out sherman (new nickname for DD, she crawls over everything in her path, with amusing consequences sometimes); she is desperatley trying to get to the laptop, so I'm leant over on the sofa, with the laptop half on and off my lap and my leg in the air to keep her at bay.

I'll be back later....need to feed her loads to try and get her weight up again!

OP posts:
lackaDAISYcal · 07/03/2008 19:13

that's sherman, as in sherman tank btw!

Hi - just a very quick pop in!

Bumper - I got paid for my keep in touch days too (my usual daily rate). I had to agree the days / times I worked with my line manager and HR before hand.
I used it to be able to get some money in before Christmas without having to break my mat leave. I worked 1 - 2 days per week (the days I could get childcare cover) So I got some money coming in again and didn't have to use my holiday days to take the days I didn't have cover - off.

I'm rambling!!!
