Happy Birthday Friz - umbongo, um bongo they drink it in the Congo!!

Perched in empty, boarded up dining room listening to the digger out back...girls are painting on walls and having lots of fun .

Kiah had her MMR booster today so had to pick them up from Mum's early....

Astro.....be careful on those steps.....

Congratulations Astro (its on facebook in case anyone has missed it!) a little girl, Clementine on the 30th July Hope your doing ok, not too sore etc xx

LL Yay for digger, how fab, is the extension huge with slidy doors?

Astrophe · 02/08/2009 06:49

Clementine is here!!! - and in July too!

UniS · 02/08/2009 23:08

Oh me darling... well done Astro. glad you both made it OK.

BONGOS... grrrr, don't you camp near me at festivals missus. nearly as bad as those djembe things.

Tandem ride last night was lovely. In laws baby sat. Took them out for a walk to day and MiL managed to fall over in muddy patch. am tempted to think it serves her right, she has dodgy balance but gets all offended if any one offers her a hand on slippery bits. She is is too damm proud to ask for help. AND she chose to wear white jeans and white shoes on a walk in the woods.
Boy did BIG bike ride yesterday. couple f miles along sea wall. followed instructions very well .
He made me smile today, he delclared that he was happy when he was holding my hand, AND happy when he was hugging me.
ahh bless.

UniS · 02/08/2009 23:09

ohh, and he thought for a minute about sharing teh last 3 haribo one each, then decide that he should have 2 and daddy none, because " they give me energy and I need energy"

laundrylover · 04/08/2009 10:21

Wow, that is one bouncing baby!!

Still waiting for the one to arrive here...up til 3am as it all seemed to be happening but slowed almost to a stop now . Knackered already - how did I do this myself???

Sis in bath, think we are going to attempt lunch out as her baby is at granny's. Went to the beach in the afternoon sun yesterday.

Come on baby - send some labouring thoughts please!!

OP posts:
Astrophe · 04/08/2009 12:09

Hope things are happening for your sis now LL - long labours are just so exhausting

We are going well here, Clemmie is feeding really well and had a more settled night - she settled for an hour or so between feeds, whereas all previous nights she has fed constantly and cried when put down.

So I had 4.5 hours sleep (let that remind you to use contraception ladies!), and then another couple during the day. Feeling a bit teary and emotional today, guess I'm right on scheduele for Baby Blues, so hopefully will feel great again in a few days time.

laundrylover · 05/08/2009 19:19

Oh Astro, those hormones are a killer when they all depart eh? You'll pick up soon I hope....4.5 hours sleep - what luxury.

No baby yet....my sis is never really getting started in labour. Contractions pick up at night but then die down and she goes to sleep....just tightenings in the day. Mucus plug keeps coming out tho (sorry if TMI!) so something must be happening eh?

We all went to the beach today which was lovely. My nephew is enjoying having his cousins here sooo much. Has gone from a few steps to about 10 in two days trying to keep up with them.

Frizbe · 05/08/2009 21:57

Awww bless him LL, well good luck to your sis and hope baby puts in a show quickly when he finally gets a move on beach sounds lovely, we've had Flame up for a few days stay, weekend was nice but yesterday and this am, yuk! we ended up doing a mini meet at Meadowhall with Meridian and Phoenix

Astro, that Clemmie is starting to settle a bit, fingers x'd that your blues whizz away soon {{Hugs}}

Astro, what is your MIL like! white too looney...
at your ds doing all that cycling, he's a star! haven't had time to do any with mine this week, but will be getting on the case next monday if weather holds.....

laundrylover · 06/08/2009 09:58

Friz, sorry to miss the mini meet up, hope you all had fun. Sounds hectic though!

Still no baby.....yawn, yawn! Even the midwifes are now astounded at the size of the bump!

Phoning for quotes for our door and windows...looking at aluminium bi-fold door so would like the two windows to match....expensive though. DP emailled me progress pics but apologised because it had taken them so long to get back up to ground level!! Will start growing now blocks and bricks are going up.

Am supposed to be doing an application for a contract whilst kids are painting in their 'art gallery' (shed) so better get on!

OP posts:
Frizbe · 06/08/2009 22:04

LL sorry baby is still hanging in there! is it way overdue now, or just a big bump?
Bi fold door, I am soooo jealous! 'wants' I nearly got a new sink fitted today, only it all went tits up, as it turns out our plumbing system is way too much for my dad to deal with ie there is not a stop tap for the hot water it turns out...we will have to drain the tank (combi system)....I'm calling a proper plumber in to rectify all the problems/fit a stop tap and the sink too eventually once the piping issue is sorted out, am rather at the tossers who built our house for their indequacys.
I've also got toothache to top my day off! gah (sorry that was very mememememe, can you tell dh is at work and I've got no one to talk too!)

UniS · 07/08/2009 22:45

any one care to share ball park figures for having a 3 bed house re-wired? also new carpets / flooring throughout and a new kitchen. we saw a house for sale that is a lot of house for the money but in need of a lot of work.

Ho Hum.
working this weekend.

Frizbe · 09/08/2009 22:59

New kitchens are between 5-10,000 for standard ones from what I've heard, if you fit yourself and buy from Wickes etc will be cheaper.

Carpets, I reckon cheap £2000-2500, £5000 for something that will last more than 5 years though.

Electrics, no idea, sorry, that'd need a ring round.

Sounds like exciting stuff may be on the horizion though?

Astro, loving the photos of Clemmie

Nothing much going on here at the moment, just catching up on normal boring household stuff that needs doing!

laundrylover · 10/08/2009 09:48

Morning all,

Friz, hope your toothache has gone and your plumbing is behaving!!

Uni, Our Wickes kitchen cost £2,000 in the sale with dishwasher, glass splash back and posh sink. Already have cooker though. DP will fit it but I think standard fitting is £1,000. Wickes are good - Ikea are OK but not very cheapest range. Local firms may do good deal in recession. I would advice gettinga design and price at Wickes and then trawling a few others with desogn...B & Q new kitchens look nice. Carpets - about £300 a room fitted for decent carpet using local firm. You can decent laminate for bathrrom/kitchen from B and Q etc. Easy to lay and we've used slate effect before which looks good and better than lino for bulginess. If the floor boards are decent you could sand and varnish. Couple of days sander hire and a zillion sanding sheets!! Re-wire - no idea but would be cheaper if you could do the re wiring and get someone to sign it off for you...know a friendly sparks?? Any sparks should quote you over the phone for this.

Sis went into hosp at 7am....contractions every 2-3 mins but MW at another home birth already- bad timing. Anyway she was 5 cm on arrival and is now hooked up to antibiotics for her Strep B so looks like she's well settled! Fingers crossed for a lunch time arrival!!

Babay boy!!! Coen .

OP posts:
Frizbe · 10/08/2009 20:00

for baby Cohen LL, £2000 for a kitchen at wickes, total bargin well done on that one. I'd forgotten Uni could spark herself! good idea. I based my carpet guess on my hairdresser telling me her new stair and landing/hallway carpet had cost her 2500 btw, just so you know where I guesstimated the rest of the cost from!

Have surrendered and gotten a new fridge freezer here today, delivery tomorrow.....now skint for the rest of the month

UniS · 10/08/2009 21:11

I don;t DO house electrics. too much like building work, all that floor board lifting, and wall chasing. I do nice simple out door event power. 415volt 125 Amp, that my kind of power.

As we STILL havn;t exchanged... something to do with imcompetant buyers IMHO. I'm not offering anything on teh house that needs work yet. If it goes it goes. But we have had a chat about how much to offer and how much we expect to spend on doing it up. also pondering dry lining the external stone wall, good for insulation AND may make re-wire easier. rooms are big enough to not miss teh few inches it will encrouch.

Hows Clemmie getting on?

Astrophe · 11/08/2009 02:22

Wow LL - those last two posts are close together - I guess Coen made a bit of a surprise appearance? How is your Sister? Great news

Uni - hope the settlement takes place soon...frustrating huh. Are you going to offer on the house that needs work then?

Friz, hows the tooth? Hows the sink tap?

We are all fine and dandy - thgird babies are easy (jinxing myself big time here!). Clemmie is well, feeeding is fab, she is a glutton and eats so much she then 'overflows'! She is sleeping 2-3 hours at night now (sometimes only 1 hour, but mostly 2), and just naps for up to an hour in the days, so she has learned the night/day divide and thats half the battle with newborns isn't it.

DS is still a bit clingy and odd, but coping better, and DD is a little er...darling...glad she is at kindy on this very rainy day, and the teachers can deal with her bolshy behaviour!

Frizbe · 11/08/2009 09:02

Astro, that's great news that Clemmie is settling well hope ds and dd1 settle down for you soon too, I'm sure they will

Uni, fingers crossed the buyers/solicitor get it all sorted for you soon, I think you should go for it, with the other house, sounds like its been well discussed/planned.

Tooth is behaving for now? not sure if it was wisdoms moving and causing pressure? taps is another issue entirely, will be calling plumber for a quote later today I think but may not get done for a while now...Oh I just don't know! the fence needs doing before the bad weather too, gah!

UniS · 11/08/2009 20:48

We have exchanged contratcts on teh sale of this house. hurrah. at last.
now comes teh busy bit. might not be around too much for a few weeks, I'll come looking for you guys when I can.

Frizbe · 11/08/2009 23:05

Uni, stick us on watch, that way we'll always be here! Hurrah for the house!!!

Astrophe · 12/08/2009 10:26
