Oh dear Friz, hope she recovers quickly

Uni - good luck with the house hunting. Anything to look at this weekend?

LL - any news re sister's baby?

Went to hosptial last night for a trace as bub was having a very calm and still day which was tressing me out...but trace showed all is well. I am just sooooo uncomfy. Seeing physio again next week to talk about SPD and how to cope in labour. I have told my midwife lots of times that I am having increasing hip pain, and she always seemed on the ball, but last week I said "the SPD is getting pretty bad, and I'm worried about further damage if I need an assisted delivery" and she said "SPD? Whats that!?" argh! so I will ask the physio to write extensive notes for the midwife. TBH it has really shaken my confidence in her and I feel a bit anxious now.

DH's first week at work has gone ok. I am pretty exhausted though, but its holidays now and so less running around this week.

Frizbe · 11/07/2009 10:37

Astro for dh's 1st week going ok and yay for holidays!
at midwife, how could she not know that???? I found with hip probs (mind I had an artery that kept getting trapped with dd1) that being on all fours a lot helped me, plus the leaning on a fitness ball thing, might be worth a go?

Dd1 is ok now here, although I have a sore throat this am hoping I don't come down with anything.....

UniS · 12/07/2009 12:20

working this weekend - friday and sat. so no house hunting. lots of phone calls to make on monday.
got VVVVV wet at work yesterday. heavens opened at 3, event finished at 6, finished get out on site at 9ish, back to yard etc and unloaded by 10, still raining. Had a bit of an epic towing a large trailer up a hill. Van stalled and I had to get someone else to reverse all teh way down hill for me as couldn't get van to re-start on teh hill. I only tow a few times a year, thankfully the tent boys tow larger trailers every day.

Frizbe · 12/07/2009 19:49

Eeeek no so good there on the hill then Uni I hate it when things like that happen to me Happy calling round tomorrow!

LL any news on your sister?

Astro hope your ok

Caddy if you're reading hoping your less stressed today

UniS · 12/07/2009 20:37

If we do buy a trailer to transport tandem... I shall be taking a towing lesson or two I think. Although with a light weight trailer I would have have no problem on that hill.
I took teh Old road back to teh yard rather than teh duel carriage way, just in case I had more problems. actually has one steeper hill but far less traffic if I had ground to a halt mid hill. And easier to get rescued from.

Astrophe · 13/07/2009 04:37

fine thanks Friz

DS to speech pathologist today (he makes some very peculiar nasal sounds in place of 's'), then we had a little park trip on the way home and made icecream sundaes with raspberries, choc bottons, gummi bears and sprinkles mmmmmm

Going to do some baking with the kids this arvo - trying to do things we wont get a chance to do for a while once baby arrives.

DH and my 7 year anniversary today , so out for a nice dinner tonight

Hope you are all well, is it school holidays there now too? We just have 2 weeks off (wonter holidays here) then back to term 3 after that - really hoping baby arrives during the holidays though, will be much easier.

LL, any news?

Uni, hope you get all your phone calls made...I have a bit of a list too, that I've been putting off. Always takes so long.

Frizbe · 13/07/2009 22:34

of course its winter hols!!!
Hope your feeling ok in this last few weeks.

Took Loki to the vets for his jabs today, he was not impressed!

Frizbe · 13/07/2009 22:35

What did speech person say?

laundrylover · 13/07/2009 23:09

Hello ladeez,

Realised reading through that I left you hanging about my sis...baby still inside -phew! However the baby is oblique and sis has swabbed positive for Strep B. Her and MWs are still planning for a homebirth in the week the doc is away!!

My cousin had her first baby yesterday...baby girl, on her due date, 3 hours in the pool at home. Mind you she did have to go to hosp for stitches but other than that sounds great eh? Baby is called Lowri...need to get used to it.

My other sis is due her second in March and my friend due her second in Feb....still not broody!!!

How to feel really old - go to a school reunion and find out that one of your classmates is a granny. Got very drunk and had a good laugh though.

Astro - any sign of that baby yet? I'm hoping your MW was just having a vague moment about the SPD!!

Astrophe · 14/07/2009 02:42

LL! great news that baby is still in, and also great about baby Lowri...how do you say it? Very at your cousins lovely birth! Good for her!

at your classmate being a granny!

Baby here showing no signs of shifting, despite curry last night. 39 weeks tomorrow. Midwife is a bit clueless it seems, but hopefully the physio will set her straight!

Friz - speech lady said DS has a 'highly unusual pattern' and seemed quite intrigued, but not alarmed. He pushes air out his nose instead of mouth when attempting 's'...instead of the more usual 'th' that small kids often do, which is apparently not a problem at this age.

We will get a hearing check (although vocabb and comprehension are good, so don't expect a serious problem...maybe mild glue ear like DD has), and then possibly a home therapy program. If its not sorted by age 4 ish, then maybe some private therapy.

Confession: Kids are currently playing in the rain filled sandpit in their pyjamas. Its almost midday! Must get off the computer!

oops

laundrylover · 14/07/2009 13:59

at over zealous posting Astro!

Love the thought of your kids playing in their PJs at midday!

Lowri is pronounced like the painter LS Lowry - does that help? There are pics on my Facebook wall....

Going for a run before pick up and then having 10 people for tea.

Have totally put off doing any coursework today by sorting out 10,000 emails in my inbox!! That's proper procrastination.

OP posts:
Frizbe · 14/07/2009 16:49

How many emails!!! hope you binned the majority! is computer working lots better now 10 for tea, all small people I hope!

Yay for baby Lowri, I think that should be said in a welsh accent its not pronounce low as in low cloud, its pronounced lo as in loud, silent w, then ri, if that makes sense? (guess laowri would be right ish?!)

Astro keep banging on, on the curry! interesting to hear about ds's speech, doesn't sound like it will be difficult to cure though, I'm struggling to get dd2 to say her 'y's but I'm sure she'll get there in the end

Have horrible throat today, so am off to get dd2 from nursery, then its bath and bed for me, unsure if tonsilitis or flu symptoms, both going round

Astrophe · 15/07/2009 05:53

Oh Friz, hope you can sleep off the cold before it gets too bad.

So Lowri - like Lorry? Or lau-ri? When will you get to see him LL?

Had another curry with friends last night (my mate cooked the most amazing Thai green and panang curries from scratch...wow!), but still nothing. She gave me a take home pack though, so will try again tonight!

UniS · 15/07/2009 11:46

lau- ri I think. we have a Loie ( with double dot over the i) at M&T pronounced Low y . Also a Mayson and a Coeinn at preschool.

Frizbe · 15/07/2009 13:51

Astro I was going to suggest Thai green as well yummy, lots of walking helps too, or is it more waddling at your stage

Uni how on earth do you pronounce that last name?

Waiting for my head to explode, feeling like its in a vice, have had drugs to no effect, throat feels a bit better though? no idea if I have a temperature as drugged up! have filled out the call back bit on the nhs site for them to tell me there is nothing wrong with me, have intermittent cough too, nice....tis school play tomorrow, don't think I'm going to be well enough to go....

UniS · 15/07/2009 23:21

co-inn or cohen would perhaps be a more conventional spelling .

I do live in chaville I fear.

laundrylover · 16/07/2009 09:24

Friz, are you rolling in the mud or snuffling for truffles yet?? Swine flu alert!! Hope you are back to your perky old self soon.

I can't believe that you don't know LS Lowry so you know how to say the baby's name. You philistines!

Astro, baby is a girl and it is as Friz says L OW ree (Ow like you trapped your finger!). Her middle name is Megan so all very welsh - maybe cousin's hubby is welsh?? Fab photos on my facebook page of cousin in pool etc..

So today we are packing up to leave the sun of the north and head towards a weather warning in Suffolk. We have identified a possible gap in the rain in which to erect our tent tomorrow and shall them spend the weekend caked in mud at a festival. What fun!

OP posts:
Frizbe · 16/07/2009 13:08

Oooh which festival LL ? (is it big green gathering?) I seriously need to start going to festivals again, dh seems to have gone all 'old' on me and not be wanting to go for some reason? Have lots of fun anyway and I hope its not too much of a wash out for you tomorrow, I don't envy you with the forecast, but the weekend is looking better

I'm hoping I feel better soon too, I did this am, so foolishly went to work for a bit, am back home now with the shakes...and a slightly lumpy throat on one side Called Dr's they said no temp = no oink flu, though they did say I sound like I have a horrible cold (this was the same Dr who told me last year could do nothing for my hacking cough, that followed on from my having flu which I still maintain was probably swine flu which we then exported to Mexico! meanwhile the woman at the store down the road from me got treated at A&E I wonder if it was tamiflu they gave her last year? it certainly sorted her out!) Anyway the mumsnet consencus (SP) is that SF can show without a temp, as per various threads and several Dr's down south (but I'm in hicksville)so just have a cold.....

I have to miss dd1's school concert today though so am for her, dh is going to go, though he doesn't feel much better than me apparently or is that just a man thing?

Astrophe · 16/07/2009 13:48

Oh sorry for my ignorance LL! You did say girl...sorry - when do you get to see her?

Friz, cold/flu sounds dreadful, and such a shame to miss DDs concert

Hope you feel much better soon.

Saw midwife again today - she still maintains she knows nothing about SPD, but is happy to read all the info I gave her (printed stuff off the net!), and was happy to make note of my limitations in terms of movement etc. So I feel a bit better now, but still hope to see the physio this week.

Frizbe · 16/07/2009 14:25

OMG Astro, where has your MW been living and does she even know where babies come from

Astrophe · 17/07/2009 03:57

I know, I am still at the midwife! I spoke to the physio on the phone for ages today - talked through the issues. Basically, I want to opt for caesarean over forceps/ventouse if it comes to that (probably wont, but being prepared), and want to have a plan for stitching position (very likely will need stitches, as did with the other two) to avoid the stirrups position. Physio was very supportive of both and says opting for caesar is quite reasonable under the circumstances, whereas MW thought I was being silly.

Have asked Physio to ring MW and inform her Hope the MW wont hate me now!

Off to the supermarket as out of toothpaste...exciting life I lead!

How you feeling Friz?

Frizbe · 17/07/2009 22:01

I'd like to think I'm feeling a bit better today thanks Astro, I didn't want to get out of bed this am, but I did, went into work and hid in office by myself with lots of cups o tea and nurofen, mainly sound like mariella fostrop with a cough now which is good that I'm feeling better as dh is feeling worse.....my friends ds got sent home from school again today, he defo had Swine Flu last week and has been back at school this week as seemed ok, but he's taken a turn again....
